mrkings84:Ha...40 what.... Day one na serial killer.... aka Red Baron. |
Mikelarteta:Why not. When public sector university education is on life support and may not survive much longer the way we know it. With our rampaging population increase it is a matter of time before the Federal Government throws in the towel and privatises all its colleges across Nigeria, but by then the certificates they offer will probably be worthless before employers and their products rejected in the jobs market in favour of private university graduates. |
CheapHomes1:Anything that old has a story, has a history that should be known. Fancy furniture and a new coat of paint just cannot cover certain things. The first question you should ask is why it is sold in the first place rather than being a heritage site, why is it on the open market and why so cheap. My guess is that 'new books' have been written to change the narrative and cover up something in its past. If not white folks particularly Europeans are not in the habit of 'pimping' real historical stuff and Italy lives and breathes on its antiquity. |
SOZINN:I said Haaland. Read again. |
NuraSambo:A tree won't make a forest. A top club like City has almost all its squad players going to the Qatar with few exceptions and they too may get injured, tire out or experience tactical fatigue. The World Cup break will only favour smaller clubs particularly those not playing well such as Forest, Fulham and other flops. |
Non City fans should not despair... the Haaland Operating System will sooner than later be hacked.... no be Premiership again? |
CheapHomes1:That is what I say. These places always have a story... not all good. The buyer must consult wide and deep.... so that he doesn't buy what he cannot sell... or live in a building that will 'change his life'.... ![]() |
1399... hmmm..... that is 600 years. More than enough time to accumulate its own contingent of ghosts, ghouls and other basement dwellers. |
That is what inclusiveness gives.... peace. Political inclusiveness to neutralize agitations... Economic inclusiveness to neutralize criminality... The tools are there to keep this country on an even keel of equity and justice if the owners of Nigeria will let her be and muzzle their sentiment for a season. |
And all that water ends up at Lokoja. |
Genesis 2:19b.... |
Instead of asking what each person can offer and commitments to deliver, citizens are busy measuring..... proving day after day they are not ready to take charge and will be served what they deserve. |
Valkrie:Are you saying that land was worth 60 billion.... plus, because security is always a fraction of valuation. |
Said enough about this fellow. Just sad where he has ended up. They claim to be democrats but cannot understand what that means. |
FreeStuffsNG:Imagine what a human being is saying. No producer will be out of business because he loses all his products... all his investment?? How can one be this callous, speak so badly.... |
LegendHero:Yes, expel the Christians and craft the APC into a religiously polarised political party aka, an islamic party of sorts. This is the lot of the black man. He loves feudalism and pretends that autocracy and democracy walk in step. He cannot tolerate opposing views, aspirations and competition and so threatens every contrary concern. The black man simply cannot build viable, diverse and prosperous societies. In Britain we have seen vociferous intra party advocacy that has led to change of Prime Ministers, in the US Democrats have openly opposed Biden on various issues as regards policy, the economy, the environment, foreign policy, etc. His predecessor, Donald Trump time in office was even more tempestuous. Right here in Nigeria the opposition PDP has faced similar internal rumpus, far more serious schisms and what can be perceived to be graver anti-party activities but we are yet to hear of expulsions and dismissals because it is widely recognized that the issues in dispute are germane and authentic and so cannot be waved off and the advocates crushed. The question then is; are the issues in popular discourse about the APC's Presidential bid equally germane and authentic. Yes. Because of the present state of Nigeria and the way it has been governed and misgoverned over the past few years and the effects on the psyche of the average Nigerian who sadly has been polarised along ethno-religious lines leading to huge insecurity challenges we are all too familiar with. We always say democracy is the best form of government because of the capacity of dialogue in conflict resolution. But when dialogue breaks down, conflict takes centre stage and the system is threatened. If the APC cannot dialogue with its constituents there is little chance the ethno-religious challenges facing the greater Nigeria will be contained and possibly reduced going forwards and it is worthy of note for those intending to do business in and with Nigeria post 2023. Risk management will have to be a priority. |
Racoon:Exactly what I said weeks ago. It is safe to say his national political career is over. He has burnt too many bridges to escape the island of political isolation he finds himself. Just cause or not negotiations and advocacy remain the only viable democratic tools to right wrongs within a system. The only credit I give him at this time is that he has chosen to remain within the party structure instead of cross-carpeting. Perhaps this will pave way for a more egalitarian institution in future of which he will always be remembered as the sacrificial lamb. Such a poor poker player. |
No, no, no, no..... production should be discontinued. Alec should find other means to settle them, haba. |
Oh my. Why didn't you say this in 2014. Thus is the very reason why Nigerians must insist and the Legislature must make laws to ensure full disclosure of the health status of any candidate sitting for Executive office. |
Mrkindness:Who is an ancestral Lagosian these days.... very, very few. My Grandad settled in Lagos and had tracts of land when Iganmu was still a 'bush' as they say. My dad grew up and lived there until he left for Britain and I and all but one of my siblings was born right there and I only left finally in 2003. That is four generations, living, owning property, doing business and all the stuff yet no one is interested in claiming anything and making less noise than wet nosed teenagers who don't know where Lagos starts and ends. Once you cross the EKO or Carter bridges that is where Lagos ends. |
4.7 billion for a month long adventure of acute voyeurism.... |
Someone has decided to waste his resources instead of investing in the basics of life, for ultimate security, that is the largest marketplace where real people exist. Call me a cynic but no one who makes money legitimately will invest in air transportation particularly in Nigeria. |
Infrastructure in Nigeria is like democracy, people think when a road is laid the problem is solved eternally just as when elections are over they assume the winner will automatically deliver. That road did not get to that stage overnight, one crack becomes a hole and a hole becomes a crevice until the road splits into two with people watching, doing nothing just as they idly watch their leaders and do nothing to advocate for good governance. Only to gather on various media and grumble. Indolent, ignorant citizens that cannot maintain anything. In the same Niger-Delta the American company I was seconded to project supervise all those years ago had its road maintenance equipment out by 5 a.m every day including Sundays to run the route and repair any damage where its trucks and equipment will pass in the course of its daily operations. Every blessed day without fail. They see a crack they fix it with mastic immediately because they know they will never be able to close that road for major repairs and risk defaulting on contracts. By the time Nigerians are ready to take power as democracy prescribes and push for legislation that enables citizens sue the government for lost time, goods, lives and revenue, then the government will sit up and discover ways and means to deliver. It is not rocket science. It is about a people fed up with nonsense and ready to dump sentiment. |
Just wish he was the one elected in 2015. Hindsight is indeed 20/20. |
Good move by government. Let it be on record that the Buhari government created the dichotomy in university education we will have to live with in future. But this is not entirely a problem as there are grades of college education and degrees in other parts of the world. It appears CONUA affiliated universities intend to lower the grades and standards. I have said it several times, college education is not for everyone and university degrees are not mandatory for development. |
Angelfrost:Hmmm... and even Ghost National Awardees. |
divinehand2003:Hmmm..... and the months of Covid lockdown... My Solution.. let us blame Queen Elizabeth... |
floret23:This was why all the fuss about signing the peace pact. So that your supporters can see you walk the talk. But I guess R&R was his priority. See the consequences. |
ken6488:No one wants to destroy Russia. What the west wants is a democratic, progressive Russia that respects international law. They are not interested in the destruction of Russia and all the problems it will cause globally. This is a country with a laundry list of enemies and is surrounded on all sides by nations and groups just itching to invade, carve it to bits and appropriate its resources. And you can imagine what will happen to its nuclear resources if it becomes a failed state. Only terrorists will rejoice, not the west. They are not interested in fighting Russia and the average Russian is not interested in fighting the West. They have tasted freedom after the Soviet Union and will never agree to go back to institutional bondage. That is why I say no Russian General will obey Putin's order to launch any sort of nuclear strike. That time has passed and the batton ot such terror handed over to more extreme nations and regimes gravitating around the middle-east. That is where World War III will be fought.... and may involve the Persians.... or modern day Iran. |
Neoteny7:Good attempt but not entirely true. The truth about the nuclear strike on Japan was two fold. One. As you said the fear of casualties, but not civilian casualties as in Dresden where German citizens died in mass (the US didn't care about Japanese civilians by then). But the fear of combat casualties in the event of a ground invasion estimated by General George Marshal to be a million including 250,000 soldiers killed based on projections from the bloody campaigns on the nearby islands of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, casualty figures which the American public could not accept. So they needed a surgical strike with such great shock and awe that the Japanese will loose every will to continue fighting. So they targeted two things. The largest industrial port city complex and army headquarters within B52 range to decimate the Japanese war production and command and control, and then the largest populated city, Kokura (largest outside Tokyo, for they also wanted to avoid the imperial palace, harming the emperor and other cultural sites and sensibilities that will have galvanised the people to continue fighting) to break the will of the government. Secondly, they also wanted to show the Soviet Union that they had the means to take on any adversary should the war have continued beyond 1945. For Stalin had cut short the neutrality pact he signed with the Japanese in 1941 (to have expired in 1946) and seeing how Japan and the US were bogged down in horrendous attrition attacked the northern flanks of the Japanese empire. The US did not want what had happened in Europe where the Soviets beat the allies to Berlin to happen again in the East and pushed for a quick surrender of the Japanese to its forces rather than have the Soviets invade and seize imperial Japan. So the first (and only use so far) of nuclear power in war had more to do with geo-politics as with military strategy as is playing out in Eastern Ukraine today. |
yeniyeni:Just relax. No Russian soldier will dare launch a nuclear weapon. The GRU will just assassinate him than carry out such an order that means the end of civilisation. Those days have passed. The only nations that dare a first strike are fundamentalist extremist. |
Vl3ly:Hahahahaha.... by gifting Ukraine a few bullets, shells, rockets, bombs and minor standoff kits.... Is that what is provoking Russia to go nuclear. Russia should look inwards and stop believing its hype. Putin miscalculated the extent of rot in his military. The corruption that had mismanaged equipment, logistics and training and left the once feared Russia Bear a worn out, old Teddy. Even NATO is in shock as to how quickly the armed forces has capitulated. For you Russia fans you should be more worried that history is repeating itself and the movement of resources from the interior and east will leave its borders with China thread bare and exposed to worse danger from an enemy with old grudges. And don't forget its southern borders with the tempestuous muslim republics it has oppressed since the collapse of the Soviet Union. Guess what their secret prayers these days will be. |
