I will make it my life's ambition to find out if the biblical tower of Babel was indeed located somewhere in the Niger area. Our historians and archelogists should gove it a try. There is something fundamentally wrong with Nigeria. |
helinues:Why won't you stop reading. Because it will further expose the irresponsibility of your pet goverment. You simply cannot face up to the mess left uncleared. |
jarkbauer:The very reason why the country remains retrogressive. The quality of citizenship is just too low. Either too ignorant or too incompetent. Just can't seem to see the relationship between their actions and experiences. |
imiski:Hmmm.... serious assertions, |
I generally donot like subjective arguments when it comes to human endeavour but the Brits might have a case. They didn't say so statistically so Vardy has arrgument when you consider the means to performance. Yes, Vardy might pale in comparison to Lewandoski statistically but so is the Leicester team around him compared to Bayern Munich. Remember, soccer remains a team sport so performances must be held in context. The Bayern team must be some ten times more valuable, full of high class internationals that may as well make Vardy much better if he was in that team. It is just an unnecessary, empty, pointless argument. |
Olalan:....indeed. Amd proves once again that poverty or wealth are intrinsic mental states and has very little to fo with the presence or absence of resources. I will forever remember tthe famous saying about aggregating all the riches of the world and sharing it amongst the inhabitants in equal measure.... then what is happening to Ruiz now.... is what happens eventually.... |
sonnie10:Just my thoughts. They have played the government's hand and they should be punished for that. You simply donot release official statements on the substance of such critical matters under inquest. But what do I know except for the fact that our government is patently inept so citizens are apt in takibg matters into their hands. Wishy-washy institutions will always be precursors to anarchy. |
This administration has cornered all other so called independent arms of government, destroyed more powerful institutions of regulation, crushed all civil resistance. Please what is the independence the NBS can claim? What is the resistance they can put up to goverment/political influence. Abeg, they should go sit down. |
Xisnin:You still donot understand and probably never will. You need to study sociology. The summary is simple. When you live in the midst of poverty you must do everything to subsidise the actions or inactions of those in charge for your personal welfare security. Even if you are not directly responsible for them just be nice. In the midst of poverty give to those around you, it may save your life. |
Kehinde2017:How is it the greatest team of all time. Who rates them as such and by what criteria?. Nigerians and sentiments. You see something for ten years and feel it is the best ever... |
Their problem. But when it affects governance it becomes of national concern. Here these folks have dropped the bar of governace to its lowest level ever seen since independence. This is ultra personalisation of governance and a fallout of the gross nepotism going on. The fight is about who gets his snout in the till. |
Just bad politicking. Yes, the right move was to drop labour and theur serial problems but to join Swinson in creating more confusion surrounding Brexit was just a bad swim against the tide.... and he drowned. Didn't understand the mood of the nation. |
The last folks I will canvass for are civil servants. They are willing tools of political misgovernance and financial mismanagement nationwide. They donot whistleblow, they donot protect the citizens of Nigeria. So they MUST suffer what the wider Nigeria suffers. A wider Nigeria that does not receive any guarantees anywhere. Civil servants are not at the bottom of the economic ladder in Nigeria. Why should I care. If civil servants want any empathy they should collectively press for restructuring of this country. That is what labour unions the world over do. They are instruments of national development, of fundamental change and not just agitating for personal gain. Ours here will side with politicians when the going is good to ruin the country then turn around to punish the general citizenry with strikes when the going is bad using the citizens as bargaining chips because they know the ignoraht citizens will wail for them. You can imagine that the same silly DSS officers who are instrumemts of oppressing those who agitate for a better country will benefit more than the average citizen when the goverment yields and improves things. We should begin to think properly as citizens and begin demand good governance at all levels. Civil servants remeber this. Your allegiance is to the Federal Republic of Nigeria first if Nigeria is to fight for you when things go bad. |
When you win 13 Champions League titles you will always be favourites. Why should Zidane not be confident. 3 trophies on the trot.... c'mon Pool fans, show some respect. |
Duh,.... a real shitty situation... ![]() |
Unnecessary. For me it is not about the how but the why. What is that important that will make me need to travel by it. If one needs to travel quick or secretly then he is really not in charge and effectively still an employee. What I see as influence is the absolute control of ones time and ones travel. |
fairfora:And you came here instead of the State CID. You are just a wonderful citizen..... |
princekalani:Can't wait. Abia State has been ridden rhopshod for decades. |
Afamed:I see.... hmmm, just imagine the kind of ignorance displayed. And I'm sure you have a voters card....no wonder. Our problems are clear. Do you see the Chinese Premier travel anywhere, anyhow for anything. Do you see the President of the United States junketting all over the world to attend every invitation card.... |
Sovereign indeed. A country that cannot secure itself, feed itself, build a single kilometre of roads or rail without loans, a country that cannot even process its resources for its own use. Sovereign yet your President cannot attend to matters of state for one straight calendar month without running all over the world to 'feel belong'. The boasting of fools. |

ubcandid:Gattuso is not inexperienced. He has managed a few clubs but the question is, what quality does he bring. His results are average at best. The decision is not an upward move. Heck, it is not even a sideways move in my opinion. |
ubcandid:When a President wants to influence the footballing department danger is not far away. Let us see whether Gattuso will be used to hound those rebel players who refused to travel. |
Bad to worse. They lost a very good manager to politics and intractible in fighting. The President is helbent on sinking his club. Goodluck to him. Perhaps Arsenal has better options now. Ancelotti will be completely fed up with Italian soccer right now. |
Shows how poorly educated, poor informed and poorly motivated the generality of Nigerians is. |
Amalekki:Both teams with corrupt defences. Should be a goal fest. |
chewwie:Hmmm and that will seriously discredit Pep fuelling talk that his exploits in the Champions League were more about a certain Lionel Messi and not him. He looks a bit tired these days. The Premiership is draining. |
City either fixes its defensive woes or forgoes all trophy aspirations this season. |
onyxo76:Poor thinking. Typically Nigerian. Long on selfishness, short on perspective. |
bigtt76:Oga. To borrow to fix potholes is madness. How long does it take to repay the interest thoughtless of the principal. 5 years, 10 years, 15 years. In that time will other potholes not have developed.... It is like borrowing N100 naira to eat a single meal that will take you one week to repay. How many other meals will you require in that week. That is madness. You borrow to create the wealth to buy several meals, pally.... or you will be in poverty forever. You borrow not even to buy a farm but to increase your acreage from 1 to 2 so that you can be guaranteed many meals and sell produce to return the money. Nigerians donot even know what is right or wrong borrowing. These guys love to borrow for 'contracting' simply because contracting is the only avenue for condensing funds to steal. Contracting is the only way long term developmental aspirations can be grappled with our notorious short term mentality. That is why typical governments will not patch a pothole for N1,000 tax naira but leave it to decay to become a 1 billion dollar project loan tomorrow and the list is endless. From refineries to roads and railways, condensing today what should be done incrementally on 'citizen' power gradually and deliberately. They know what to do but corruption will not permit it. China did not develop to become what it is today on loans from anywhere. The people developed that country brick by brick over time. Same with America and much of Europe. What are we doing with the resources we have and how effectively are we deploying it to 'START-UP' Nigeria. Oga. You will be sick to your stonach to discover just how many loans have been taken to bring our refineries back from the dead in the past 20 years, still.... |
itsme01:That word 'contractor' is the zero sum of our underdevelopment. You generally contract out what you CANNOT do. This is symptomatic of Nigeria. We do practically nothing. The 'doing of things' has been the trigger of development of any breakthrough country throughout all ages. Development has always been about the people doing things for themselves. In contemporary times you simply donot take a loan for a 'start up'. You take loans to expand enterprise. You take off on your own power and take loans to climb out swiftly to avoid the drag of gravity, i.e you can see the thing already working or profit potentials so you need help to expand and reach set goals. If you take loans just to survive then you are on life support. You are clinically dead. Nigeria has not got the basics done which is simply to put its citizens to work effectively in developing this nation so loans CANNOT add value to our economy. It will all be lost to expatriates, kick backs and foreign industry in massive capital flight. In other climes infrastructure investment is a tool for stimulating growth because the value is domiciled in the people through increased productivity. The government should prove how many cents in each dollar of loans it takes goes to sustainable grass roots wealth creation or increased GDP if not we will just be caught in the vicious cycle of what I call 'phantom power'. That is the mistaken belief popularly held by Nigerians that once there is stable electric power we will all prosper.... ....doing WHAT exactly with electrcity. It is and never will be the means but always the ways. Loans without targets, border closures without targets, increased taxes without targets, withdrawing subsidies without targets are just a vicious cycle of poverty and depravity. Infrastructure?.... I laugh. |
