Hmmm.... so they may say about Nigeria in the utopian future. That Bornu.... Kano.... Niger.... Oyo.... Ebonyi don't have oil.... that what you see was developed from TOURISM...Imagine such ignorance.

Do tourists just fall onto a desert land. Do tourists pay in advance for attractions and locations to be built. Please go and read the history of the nation of the UAE. Dubai is the product of oil and gas resources.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

In this season of goodwill and peace to all men Nigerians must learn to bring out the best of humanity in themselves. Not tailors, fashion designers and auto mechanics telling endless lies of deception, merchants and transporters gouging prices and exploiting demand when their counterparts in other climes offer discounts in the spirit of the season.

As the New Year approaches we hope the 'Nigerian' in us is left behind for us to move forward.
Politics › Re: SERAP Welcomes Release Of Sowore, Dasuki, Urges Buhari To Obey All Court Orders by Reference(m): 6:48am On Dec 25, 2019
Sirjamo:
Four months in detention is enough for Sowore, he didn't really get the chance to execute the plans he made together with Nnamdi Kanu. But Dasuki should never have been released, he supervised the embezzlement of 2.1 billion dollars meant to fight boko haram.

Meanwhile, those who are rejoicing about the release of a thief like Dasuki, don't cry when any APC member is granted bail on corruption charges and he/she is released.
The courts have not cleared them of wrongdoing just granted them BAIL. What is so hard to understand in that. What is so hard for the goverment to understand in that. Just showing your ignorance everywhere.

For your information the continued interference in court processes by the Executive is responsible for the delay in their trials.

If a patient refuses pre-treatment tests he cannot question the doctor who ignores his case. Who suffers the delay. Tell your pet goverment to stop bogging down the criminal justice system and truncating its own anti-corruption war by personalising processes. No one should be above the law.

In sane countries those who disobey court orders end up behind bars. No law enforcement officer will obey them. In Nigeria the President is the constitution and the law and to progress we must shirk feudalism.
Politics › Re: 'Nigeria’s economy under siege over bad government choices’ by Reference(m): 1:19pm On Dec 24, 2019
Almost everything earned in taxes and royalties goes to servicing less than 3 percent of the population. Government under this dispensation has become a BURDEN to this country.

It is like having a restaurant business, a factory, a construction site or a sports club and 95 percent of what you earn, your receipts is spent in the office. To buy foodstuff to cook, to buy raw materials to produce, to buy cement to build, to pay the players you go borrowing.

What kind of madness is this. How many civil servants are there in Nigeria for heavens sake. What exactly do they do that the rest of Nigeria cannot. What is the role of government beyond the ORGANISATION OF SOCIETY. How can organising society be this daunting especially when the vast majority of Nigerians donot feel the contribution of government in any positive, meaningful way on a day to day basis having to provide virtually the whole range of social services for themselves.

They will tell us that they have to borrow to provide infrastructure to con the ignorant. What they will not reveal is what is done with what they have, what they gather from the long suffering citizen and what God has so graciously provided from the ground in terms off natural resources. They donot want you to hold them to account on that. That is not governance. It is blackmail because they know the 97 percent of non government folks need the infrastructure to function and advance.

It is highly irresponsible for government to TAKE ALL THE MONEY IT HAS AT ITS DISPOSAL FIRST AND THEN SCRAMBLE TO FIND MONEY FOR THE REST OF NIGERIA.

For our slow citizens, bogged down by tribe and religion hear this. If you donot begin to demand for the restructuring of this country to give you direct powers to decide who gets what out of the national purse a time will come when 100 percent of what Nigeria makes a year will go to them, their wallets, their armoured jeeps, their foreign trips, their palatial mansions and their disgusting pensions. Then they will tell you to go face the World Bank or the Chinese development bank yourselves.

This is the only country I know where the people sit idly by and watch their utter destruction in broad daylight by folks who number no more than a dozen but cause so much hardship and suffering at their own expense. We are truly a failed citizenry.

Aircraft air conditioning doesn't work the way most folks think. It is more likely the temperature settings were left mild because of complaints on earlier flights about the cold air during these harmattan period. At altitude the bleed air from the engines is super cold and rather needs heating than cooling to achieve ambient temperature.

As long as as air pressure was maintained in the cabin it is more than likely nothing was wrong with the system, just the temperature settings.
Politics › Re: Devaluation, Subsidy Removal Among Biggest Predictions For Nigeria In 2020 by Reference(m): 9:21pm On Dec 23, 2019
This is what I said in 2015 when this government first came in with a lot of political capital. That the naira should be floated and gas subsidies removed. A lot of Nigerians argued to the contrary seeming to prefer pills to surgery, management to radical steps.

Years down the line we are staring down the barrel of the gun, between the rock and a hard place, having exhausted all the economic pills of credit and taxation we are contemplating doing the needful... with an almost ruined economy.

Nigerians abeg, isn't it a tragedy to remove subsidies on fuel and the dollar when we are at the same time neck deep in debt. Why this double tragedy on the people of Nigeria. Why..

Not surprised. When we say restructure, they say no. Isn't it clear why.
What is shocking is that those affected but are enlightened and learned enough to do independent research will equally dismiss it or truncate it to maintain tthe status quo.

Restructuring should be conducted around tables in conference halls and dinner parties to avoid doing it across trenches and in camoflague tents in massive IDP camps.... tick-tock..

Fashion › Re: Alex Olusanya: FG Must Ban Imported Dresses To Boost The Fashion Industry by Reference(m): 10:33am On Dec 21, 2019
Totally disagree. The fashion industry is a section of the arts and crafts industry which is part of the creative industry and should not be subject to discrimination. Their products are more or less intellectual property so competition is more of ideas and inspiration, abstract not tangibke. The physical clothes and wares represent just a minute fraction of the effort that goes into production. Without competition intellectual property is worthless, without peer review intellectual capacity is stagnated.

What goverment should do enhance the creative industry is to ensure intellectual property is protected and artists are well incentified. Actual industrial production then may or may not be domiciled in Nigeria. The great fashion brands and fashion commodity companies of the world still thrive despite Asian industrial muscle. As a matter of fact most of them have their factories in Asia but that represents just a fraction of the value of the brand except for cheapest t-shirts.

Nigerian creative artistes must step up their and take branding seriously. Branding drives the fashion industry and branding is driven by creativity. They should make the necessary sacrifices in the studios and let the Asian sweat shops do the rest. We have huge untapped potentials in bringing our culture to the world and incorporating them into modern fashion to create new lines of interest. I have seen a couple of takers and their pieces look fantastic. They just need to know how to brand properly, produce efficently and market asiduously. We donot need to turn Nigeria into a Communist state to develop. We donot need this slippery slope that will end up seeking the banning cable tv, coca-cola and corollas. Haba.

Creativity can fend for itself.

Expected because he was their second choice behind Emery but in my opinion another spanish whose natural instincts are about forward play only is remarkably foolish especially when the heavens are aligned for the appointment of a certain Ancelotti whose gameplay has been proven to be well rounded, good forward play and strong defence and in him lies a fatherly figure that can be strict against slopiness amd comforting in difficulties.

Another gamble by the ever gambling gun slingers of North London. This time its Russian roulette.

They never learn. It is always their personal interests above that of the country. They personalise goverment and undermine institutions to their ends. I can vividly remember how he strode like a collosus, trampling on the law, the rights of citizens and giving no ear to reason. How foolish in a democratic setting where power is transient.

Now he will hope to get the justice he has helped undermine, the institutions he helped dismember. That is no tragedy in itself, just a tutorial about life. The tragedy is those who are in his shoes right now, but still cannot understand how things work, and how oerilous their futures equaly are.

Worked examples of life issues donot work in Nigeria. Here no one learns anything.

Finally Nigerian Architects have finally seen sense.

Metal Cladding of the exterior prevents it from the normal wear and tear the elements that normally dilapidates public buildings every here and there.

This should be the new way forward, as by cladding it now you will never see how old the building is come the next 10 to 20 or even 30 years time.

Thank God sense is finally coming into building new structures in nigeria
Still not a solution. Metal cladding in our tropical weather especially in the highly polluted climes of the south-south doesn't age well especially the cheap Chinese knockoffs. Porcelain remains the best. Doesn't oxidise, doesn't drip and can take pollution like a duck to water.

So why is the unserious PDP not making political capital out of this.... that is the only way democracy can benefit the people. When governments assume complete power. When autocracy reigns retrogression is guaranteed because the nature of man is such that there must be an incentive, a kick up the backside to do the hardest things.

There's nothing new here, this is how it's done in all advanced countries. Once you've been processed by immigration/customs, you move on to an area where non travelers cannot enter. Similarly once you arrive no guest can come to meet you until you've gone through the checkpoint. Nothing to see here people, moving on!
That is not what they are saying. Departure lounge rules are already enforced. But an airport is far more than that or should.

First it was the 'Taxify' ban.... or not. Now the attack is against the paying public. Won't be surprised if 'friends and family' are banned from pick ups and drop offs. It appears the FAAN has been 'Oluomo-ed' by the powerful taxi or mafia running our airports. Something is terribly wrong here.

I repeat. Let the FAAN do an audit of all vehicles and persons on the grounds of airports and airport concourses and let the public know who between the passing public and the 'permanemt staff' aka taxi drivers and their pimps constitutes a nuisance on those grounds, abuses those facilities and puts this country's image into disrepute.

I personally donot wish to spend a second longer in our terrible airports than necessary whether travelling or receiving/sending off anyone. FAAN should not male our miserable experiences even worse.

ValCon888:
The guy is worth £500 million.
WTF do you mean by save for the future?
500 million....? The once great ruler of the Sahel, Mansa Musa of antiquity, the emperor of Mali accumulated what is considered to be the greatest personal wealth ever known to modern man, the equivalent of over 400 billion dollars today trading primarily in gold and salt. Everything was lost to civil conflicts and today the great, wealthy empire has as its inheritance a poverty stricken state of Mali, West Africa.

He was so rich that it was reported that on a pilgrimage to Mecca he gave out so much gold on the journey (spraying) that the value of gold fell in Egypt leading to a recession there.

Neymar is not near splasing enough dollars to quake the US economy but he is well on the way to financial ruin and I hope his black descendants won't rue what will become a certain Mali experience.

Africa and the black race are the only 'continentoids' on earth that once had the power and privilege to be world beaters and global leaders but remarkably threw everything away and ended up in slavery and penury. From the great empires of Egypt, Mali, Sudan, Kano, Benin, etc, everything is lost, wealth squandered, humanity surrendered.

It is certainly not a black thing to be circumspect and be a visionaire, to nuture and grow things, create legacies and project power and influence well beyond one's grave.
