FactBoyz:Iran has had issues with Amerca since 1978. What happened a few days ago does not even make the top 5 dangerous incidents. |
sauceEEP:They are deploying to bases not flying into operations. Their bullets and bombs are already awaiting them in the mid east. That is the business of the S &T (Nigerian Army in those days) and a very active Quarter Master. I always loved deployment back then. The equipment you see is just mindboggling. War is a costly industry. |
edoairways:As states build roads, water lines, monorails and airports they can build and own electricity transmission infrastructure if the legislation is done. So get the legislation thrpugh amd watch how investment will pour in. Secondly thete is nothing stopping Nigeria or her federal states from importing electrcity from other countries. Many countries do this even developed ones. The key to this will be to liberalise the market so that tariffs are commercially viable. In the process of industrialization all cards must be on the table and all sentiments in the dustbin. We donot have to buy Nigeria in everything. We presently import fuel as a strategic decison. Electricity is equally important. We can import electricity in the interim while proper Dangote like iinvestment goes into the energy industry. Or partner with countries that have immediate potentials for massive, green investments. A decade or two ago there was this news about a joint AU project proposal to develop hydropower on one of the Rivers in the Congo purpoted to be the largest single hydro electric power plant in the world and capable of providing cheap electricty to the entire continent for decades to come. It has gone cold. |
Abalado:A very ignorant statement. The citizens of any community remain the most important and most powerful demographic. How can you absolve the will of millions and excuse the will of one. How can just one man act successfully against the collective will of the many. It is not true. The fact of the matter is that rigging only succeeds where people are divided and have no common values they seek representation for. When corrupt leaders want more power the first thing they do is to divide and weaken the people by corrupt inducements and by sowing seeds of bigotry. The people cannot be excused for being equally corrupt and wildly sentimental. |
And someone wonders why Nigeria is not recognised on the streets of the international community. A country at war within itself will remain irrelevant without, simple. |
Just shows how insignificant Nigeria is. Was with someone this morning trying to activate a new phone and Nigeria didn't feature in something as simple as a 'Timezone set' despite the fact that Nigeria is well within the top ten population stat and top twenty mobile phone market. You will expect the average manufacturer to take our sensibilities seriously. But our poor economy, critical indices of living and exaggerated negatives will not place us on most maps. Despite the sparse success dtories Nigeria does not lead the world in any meaningful endeavour neither does she contribute to the progress of humanity in any overiding positive way. The reasons are simple. The State of the Nation. Which is basically in turmoil. Nigeria as a coubtry is perpetually at war eith itself. We are so weakened by structural imbalances so the world will be asking an invalid to help it win the 100m dash in the 'Universe Olympics'. We are so divided along religious and sectarian fault lines. The world will be seeking to build a nuclear power station on an active volcano to have Nigeria lead. Why should the average alien national know what this country is about when the average Nigerian doesn't. |
Funny woman.... but to be honest this is exactly what is wrong with the ruling class and Nigerians in general. The inability to seperate self from office, the personalisation of government, institutions, projects and processes, systems and ideologies. What we often fail to understand is that when an individual aspires to lead, it is a call to sacrifice... of ones personal interests for the common good or for an idea or for the effective workings of an institution. But we are so enmeshed in sentiments that we just cannot bring ourselves to the point of true sacrifice that real leadership requires. By her avtions what she really means is that she cannot see herself oppose whatever her late father stood for even if it was not in the interest of the citizens of that domain. What she means going forward is that her family ties will ensure her children can act against the law and never get prosecuted. What she means was that she only joined the APC to get 'SOMEONE' out rather that get 'SOMETHING NEW' in. That is not leadership. Just sorry for her and the vast majority of Nigerians who think they have leaders. That is why when folks here tear themselves apart for specific individuals whom they think they know I just laugh because I cannot think of any individual citizen of this country who has benefitted from real leadership since independence. None. |
Don't want to interefere in this spat but one thing for sure RVP is and and will be a far bigger player for both club and country. Ole is the manager of one of the biggest clubs in global football and with it comes herculean responsibility. To lash out against expected criticism following failure in a marquee contest like that is disappointing. If he cannot take the heat of towering expectstions he should make way. There are several, far better gaffers out of a job and many more will be available in the summer. |
The dry season comes and as the grass withers and and the leaves fall to the ground so the unfortunate souls of men return to the earth..... ....here we go again. For another season of pain is come. |
Security stepped up at Nnamdi Azikiwe airport this morning with Nigeria Airforce MP's and K-9 units buzzing. Everybody is taking it serious. The Persians DONOT FORGIVE nor FORGET. They will strike back and then its gloves off, freestyle carnage for the next few years. |
Their faces are explicit do it shouldn't be hard to identify and subsequently dismiss them. It is a pity that the resources expended on their training will be needlessly wasted but it will cost the Nigerian Army even more to look the other ay as regards their potential future conduct. The military was once an institution reknowned for discipline and high kevel prifessiona conduct. Decades of philandering with political power has eroded all that. it is now one scandal after the other. |
Yet another first under this government that promised do much about securing the lives and properties of Nigerians. |
Tobiwakawaka:The project commenced a long time ago prior to this government if I'm not mistaken. Continuity yes, personalising government, no. That is poor citizenship. |
221 What?! WTF is the meaning of this BS?! !!!
When folks like you personalise government, this is what you get, an environment of impunity. Had it been that government is held accoubtable from the top to the bottom such low level politicians will thread circumspect but the fellow can see personnel costs, overhead costs, reccurent expenditure balooning at all levels of government withouqt a serious reaction from the long suffering, tax paying public do why won't he place his snout in the trough. What you see here is political gangsterism. He wants to 'spread the wealth around' so than when accountability is denanded by the public he will have supporters. At the rate we are going one day half our population will be working in government or for government and then we will see who will go to the farm to bring home the proverbial bacon. By then the CBN governor will obviously be a Chinese politburo member.... guess why. |
Appoint... instead of empower.... honestly we are just lost at sea as a country. I just cannot see how our collective sufferings will end in Nigeria. |
If not for the rising insecurity incidents over the recent years Plateau State would have been my belt anchor. Still up for grabs though. Beautiful place, fantastic people, fond memories. |
Every ceremony carries a relative cost. In life if it is not education or health go for the cheapest or most cost efficient. |
Greta is it. The political class is a scourge to humanity. |
Whatever floats their boat. If it is the product of a democratic process I have nothing against it in principle. |
I have no qualms about a people coming together to bar unethical practices in their domains. What I find hard to accept is why this isn't this universal across Nigeria by negotiation and agreements a.k.a restructuring. Why is it thay they do everything to block a pan-Nigeria discourse et implement their ideas. What can be a greater threat to the unity of Nigeria than than unilateral, unconstitutional, anti-demicratic actions that test the laws of the land and the collective wilk of the majority. I think the calls for restructuring should ring louder anytime stories like these emerge. Nigeria is presently run like a marraige where one party is caught cheating time and again yet is violently retributive to the partner who cannot as much as take a glance at the opposote sex. Something will eventually give. |
TheFacelessMan:Just tell us how Mr Tinubu came to so much. As long as the means of a man are not clear, the speculation will continue. How did he acquire all those things. It is the minimum standards for right living. |
Criminals everywhere. No amount of 'corruption war' can ever put an end to these sordid stories. How can and why should a single person be in posession of that amount in cash. Only restructuring can remove the fuel from the fire. If Nigerians are not ready to change the way they are held together in this country and change the way they are organised around leadership then we will continue to suffer. |
Nice one. For those who are savvy the east is the investment destination of choice because the potentials are just immense. The west is saturated, the north not longer secure, the south an environmental ticking time bomb. Property prices can only skyrocket. |
Klopp doesn't play the Barcelona way. Barcelona doesn't play the Klopp way, period. Both have stubborn philosophies. |
Violence is the preserve of the ignorant. Parents that have to be physical with their kids do so because they lack the mental capacity and competence to 'train' and nuture. So the advice: Plan well ahead of child bearing. Start forming the mind and character early. Have deliberate objectives and set specific goals. Create the right domestic atmosphere for the nourishment of the mind. Lead and live by example. Big donot. Donot form the mentality of punishing what you may term wrongdoing and rewarding what you may term right behaviour. That is an unfortunate introduction to the destructive human nature of fear and greed. Donot trade with their minds. Rather reason with them exolaining why wrong is wrong and right is right, period. Appeal to their conscience as they grow into self consciousness. |
Computer82:Don't mind them. And some slow fellows will see nothing in that. |
Lol .We wonder o
Oga. In decent democratic societies it is the people who determine the compensations public officials get for performing their duties. They are there to serve and the last time I checked servants donot determine the levels of comfort or otherwise in which they work. That is why their expenses are followed critically all over the world exceot here in Nigeria where they spend at will on all manner of frivolities as if they are feudal lords. To serve is not mandatory. It is a call to sacrifice for the betterment of your constituents. I cannot see what gain he brings to his people whom the average live well below the poverty line. He is just plain lucky that they are ignorant and sentimental as well. It will end one day. When the people have been dunked in the latrine of life long enough. |
At a time when they all chorus that Nigeria is bankrupt and hold a gun to our heads that if the foreign loan is not approved Nigeria will not move forward. But no one knows where they get akl the moneies they steal and misappropriate. We are now in a situation of the highest personnel cost or recurrent expenditure in tje history of this country while at the same time grappling with the heaviest debt burden in history. Every penny Nigeria earns as a yam farmer is eaten by him and his family. He has to go borrowing yam seedlings to plant every new budget season. The tragedy is not the government people giving themselves pay raises for their spectacular work in ruining the economy aka new minimum wage but the sheer lunacy of the citizens of this country that are hounded and threatened to pay more taxes by people who are not prepared to make an iota of sacrifices. Another scandal. Watch how some will justify it, others will excuse it. ... none will react against it. |
mrgoodd:This is just pure nonsense. Time does not make a man poor or rich. Just as time will not make a tree or cut one down. Wealth or poverty are products of deliberate acts from a mindset of vision, innovation and productivity. You either have it or remain in poverty. Time cannot make a poor man rich. Time cannot turn wood to gold. |
What is 'Planet Projects'. All these emergency contractors that mushroom for obvious reasons. If you desire the best, engage the best firms, if not handle it by direct labour so that the grassroots can be empowered. Every political office holder comes with his own private piggy bank. Get unemployed youth from that community registered in an engineering co-operative and engage them with supervision from the Lagos State Ministry of Works. It is just a roundabout for heavens sake. Use minor public works to stimulate your local economy and put useful money in the hands of your beleaguered youth. It is a lot better than Trader Moni. The government gets to save a lot that would be wasted on so called contractors. |
JubrinElSudan:In the structure that Nigeria operates no leader can succeed. So basically it is not their fault. If Cross-River operated like an independent country within a country called Nigeria which is the absolute definition of a Federation then they stand a chance at development. If they could draft their own constitution, establish their own Supreme Courts, build their own Central/Reserve Bank so they can access international credit at their own terms they can build an independent economy and run it to meet their expectations. If you can name one leader, any leader at any level that has succeeded in office and has moved his constituents forward or placed his sphere of influence on a sustainable path to development, name them. Nigeria has never known a single year better than the previous since independence. Surely it cannot be leadership, but structure. We will never realise the potential of leadership if we as a nation donot create the right atmosphere for them to succeed by demandong for the restructuring of Nigeria. Every leader is sworn in to failure. Ask Mr President who swore to battle corruption yet day after day, story after story, billion after billion is still stolen. Without restructuring Nigeria simply cannot work. |
Even animals live to prosper one another but give an animal a soul and instead of getting better he and his kind degenerate into selfishness, greed and every dessructive habit in existence. Good one Mane. You have a reason to live. |
