That is how to work out poverty from a position of riches. |
Certainly. If you live in the right city, do your business in the right neighbourhood and don't make a habit of roaming around town. My cars are impeccable, even my operational vehicles. |
For starters the Holy Book says when you get married quite literaly, two become one. You should be one with your wife which means whatever you see in her is a reflection of what tou see in yourself. With this in mind will the first thing you think be to cut off your arm, leg or head because it gives you pain. No. You will go see a doctor for palliatives and possibly repair. The only reason you will pernit your precious member to be severed is if it poses a threat to your life such as with gangrene but consider if that member was your head, its death will be your death too. So to be alive and enjoy marraige make sure your partner is as important as your head, elevate such a person to the level of inevitability and see how peace and love will overcome all. |
Just lurching from one defeat to the other instead of working things out. Relationships are not made primarily for personal gain and personal satisfaction. Human beings are created to make things, to build things together. Marraige is the ultimate building site, where monuments are constructed out of absolutely nothing but sacrifice and sheer determination. You better start digging the foundations of your relationship instead of chickening out. What makes you think the next woman will be better. All human beings have 'issues'. I have not seen a perfect person yet. Not one. |
Is there any discourse beyond tribe in Nigeria right now .. |
Emyres:This is what I keep on saying. If those tasked with the maintenance and development of institutions neglect that sacred duty, they are bound to be victims and recieve no succor when they need it most. A secure, properly governed, peaceful, well organised, just and lawful country is to the profit of all. It is a pity that this man with so much potential was wasted like this. But it is a bigger lesson for those who are in opportunity, in power but are presently misusing and abusing such. A day of reckoning will come when for instance the police that was mismanaged, the military that was abused, and the judges that were scatteted abroad will not be there to protect them when out of power. It is really, really sad. |
Okay, we have seen it. Now get to work. |
Going from bad to worse. Full blown feudalism. The lines between individuals and institutions continue to fade away. After four years in power they still cannot appreciate what democracy is and how the global community uses it as the only viable tool of development and advancement. The black man of necessity must look for a king or an idol to worship. He just cannot imagine himself teaming up with another fellow citizen to better his lot. He needs someone from above to do everything for him. This is the inherent weakness of society that gives folks like these the temerity to justify their sad utterances. When he leaves government finally, and for a while, and all the lucre is spent, just like the prodigal son he will indeed come to his senses. We will wait. |
Angelfrost:Redeem himself from what exactly. His stinct at United was the most successful since Alex Fergeson retired. A domestic Cup and a European Cup. Do United remotely seem like a trophy winning team at the moment? The man remains up there amongst the best amd his results so far prove it. Since leaving Porto he has bettered every team he coached winning silverware with both big teams and no so big teams, big budgets and no do big budgets. If he has an attitude, I will tell you that most geniuses are maverick. You must of necessity make adjustments to accomodate them. We see such all the time in business and profession. This is a man who will walk into the locker room or dugout of any club and both players and colleagues in the business will stand to greet. |
Not worth my comments. |
Perhaps in the eveninng abeg. Too busy. |
mauchiz:The kind of sentiment that is a serious anchor to this country. For how long are you going to make excuses for your untuly kids. Won't you sit them down one day and ask serious questions. 'US, leave them for us', today then US, 'why are you not investing in Africa, why are you denying us visas, why are you not selling arms to us....', always wanting the world to live by our standards while incapable of tolerating theirs... If the man is incapable of obeying their laws he should set up an aircraft manufacturing facility in Nigeria so he can trade planes as he pleases. |
Hold it please. Every individual and organisation does everything in its power to stay above the law and below the radar of justice. The moment you expose yourself by ways and means that are questionable you bring yourself into disrepute. It is a Nigerian thing to be careless about facts and details. It is a Nigerian thing to leave the highway and tow the bush paths to get ahead. It is a Nigerian thing to be brash about an underhand sub-culture and expect the rest of the world to understand and live by our standards. It may work in this country but the global practice of finance and commerce is all about perception. You are only as good as people feel you are. Businesses have died on rumours, banks have collapsed on bad news, investirs have often fled first then looked later. If I want to employ and hear untoward news about the individual I certainly donot have the time nor the resources to check facts. You check facts to butress positive moves not exonerate bad news. This ultra high, no nonsense standard is the reason why serious businesses go to extreme lengths to protect their integrity and are circumspect in all their ways. You just may not have a second chance or you just may never recover. |
Liverpool should not have registered for this competition, period. Instead of bringing it into disrepute. The League should set new rules concerning participation and participants if it takes it seriously. |
wellmax:And will be crying wolf over minimum wage when we know there is hardly a civil servant that depends on his salary. They are all businessmen and women, peddling influence everywhere. They are the ones that will welcome a politician coming from a 'far land' and 'show him the way to eldorado'. Top to bottom, all rotten. Only the restructuring that will stop the caging of the goat and the yam together can save this country. Only God knows how a single individual can remove sums enough to build sixty buildings without the organisation collapsing completely. It is structural failures. No corruption fight will ever end this. As the Bible says, 'the law only came to reveal sin', it couldn't handle it. Noah came out of the ark and drank to stupor. The next NSPDC boss will build a skyscraper quietly. Even God had to restructure salvation to get results. |
No need to comment on this. No need to waste my time on these people. |
texazzpete:My thought process as well in those days until I realised sadly that no depth of suffering can seperate my fellow Nigerians from sentiments and prejudice. Tax all you want, collect every penny and sell them to slavery yet they abide in the crab pot. |
In those days when we had german made English language television programmes, 'First Aid' was a staple for me in addition to the Bundesliga and Telematch. Unfortunately everything these days is all entertainment. Educative and general knowledge programmes are hidden away even on cable tv. The problem with First Aid knowledge is that unlike riding a bicycle or driving a car, it doesn't stick to ones mind. Without serious incident lessons are soon forgotten. I used to know the whole range of First Aid measures and it saved colleagues while in the military. Today that skill is gone.... unfortunately. |
I can appreciate a lot about what he says. I am not from the East but since starting operations there almost a decade ago I have been positivrly impacted by the peoples of that region. The long and short of the whole thing is that. The Igbos are the closest thing to any quest to develop, to move forward and I speak from an individual and communal perspective. I think the average Nigerian needs to spend sometime there to complete a cycle of mental upliftment. Honestly my sojourn there has given me a competitive edge in business and professional conduct, a spirit of enterprise, innovation and the 'can do' spirit. There is just nothing beyond them. You either meet up or get left behind. Not saying that there are no flaws. There are but these are caused in the main by institutional failure, many years of successive weak governments which I know is a fallout of the civil war. These have been blown far out of proportion by those with extreme prejudice. The typical Easterner has no issues at all. I have a very long list of clients and contemporaries from there and I have never been profiled. If you are competent they will respect you utterly and draw close to you to learn. I think this country is missing a lot with the way Easterners have and are being treated. If ij my little corner I can see the potentials and have benefitted immensely from the kinetics, I can be certain when I say that the Igbos are more than two plugs in the four cylinder engine of development. Cylinders that are not serviced, Hence not surprising, this country just cannot seem to be able to move forward. |
drips8:Goalfest.... with both teams spotting piss poor defences with razor sharp attacks.... difficult to call. It is a gaffers game. |
obailala:What are you saying. Isn't it a Federal program again. Wasn't it their drive. They called the party but didn't count the cost. They received the accolades when the going was good. The truth is that a Socialist nation must be one of great discipline, immense sacrifice and positive intellect if not economic challenges and poverty will be a national experience. You cannot have socialism in a regime of high levels of corruption. That is subsidy at the bottom and the top of society simultaneously. You cannot have socialism in a regime of deep ignorance and illteracy where the population donot aporeciate the values of responsibility and prudence. You cannot have socialism work where the average citizen cannot make the basic sacrifices to see the system work, where parochial interests of typically tribe and religion are set aside for the greater good. In such regimes social programs are just waste conduits, can kickingz and mereky postponing the evil day as we see our debts baloon without recourse. There are serious problems ahead for the next generation that will dare to call themselves Nigerians. |
Citizens should help the goverment by being demographically responsible. A runaway population growth without productivity in tandem is the door to unending social problems. |
And how do you determine who is qualified? Hope this is not anorher back door to let felons in. Segregation is always a double-edged sword. Should'ntbthe CBN be the engine of modernisation and social upgrade. |
musicwriter:Said it won't work. You don't just go around peddling a war strategy without an objective, target or planned deliverables. Even pressure cookers have relief valves just in case the objectives are not at hand. This sounds so much like 1985 abd the infamous import license regime. When the dust had settled all that was left were a few artificial billionaires in goverment with their civilian collabirators. The country came out of it like a druggie taken to rehab but without the rehab. Worse, much worse. |
Marraige is an institution where two becomes one. Thay means as an individual a man in marraige becomes half. Understand this and you will never have a better yesterday. |
And I hope he has been paid severence. Ultimately was not his fault but that of the retards who engaged him. You can only blame him for his actions not his results. Just as we can only blame our keaders for their actions but the staye of the country is the responsibility of the citizens. |
At this stage it is wll about the heart, no longer the head. Whoever is ready on the day will win. Punters have long since left the building. |
czarina:Once again.... poverty or wealth have nothing to do with the resources around you but the potential state of your mind. He worked in a bank with a poor mind, stole to prove otherwise and will end up just like he truly thinks. |
So sad that a supposedly enlightened fellow like Fani Kayode can say such reprehensible things. I just cannot understand how a human being cam harbour such self destructive bile. Anywsy I seldom comment about the affairs of individuals that are far past humanity. Wish him the best. |
colestephan86:Better idea. As far as I am concerned the NRC will just becone anorher NNPC and the rail system will eventually becone like the petroleum production system, an oasis of corruption, nepotism and racketeering. Very soon the Chinese will be bounced and phantom contracts given to so called 'friends of government' to maintain rail lines and rolling stock. Yet another cash cow. The best model will have been a BOT system to not only enable them ROI asap but also to tech transfer and create a proper structure and work ethic before handing over to the dreaded blackest of black men. |
Another drain pipe, another graft conduit, yet another project that is entirely beyond the mental capacity of the Nigerian. |
Sunisonflex39:Because the structure of Nigeria is all wrong. There is nothing in the constitition that compels or designates what a governor can or should do to develop a state. This is the principal failings if a unitary system. If States and indeed local goverments were completely independent then the burden of development can be broader and more potent, if the various tiers of goverment were completely independent then accountability can be thorough with citizens able to better reach those who should care. It is the structure of the country that has caused these problems. It has left the least opportuned citizens at the mercy of governance that is too far away. There is just no way Wike can understand and appreciate what goes on in the towns and villages. He cannot. He should not. Just as the IG of police cannot appreciate or understand what happens in a vilkage a thousand miles from Abuja but he has all the power, all the resources domiciled with him. This is wrong. |
