Mandela was provoked by the south African govt but his followers never resorted to taking up arms and killing the whites in SA, and when his wife made her own security group that was killing people that didn't believe in their struggle Mandela had to divorce nd ostrasize her, and right now history only remembers Nelson but it has forgotten his wife Winnie who was also part of the struggle,

You guys where pushed to the wall by the govt and you bulged, and fell for their ploy to label you guys as terrorist's, IPOB made the wrong move when they took up arms against the govt, and right now their case with ytje govt is obsolete

They start their rhetoric with ‘I am not a fan of Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB’ and then go on a long false equivalence, stack all the blame on our service men and women asking them to ‘go and fight Boko Haram’. Why don’t you also leave the comforts of your homes in USA, UK, Asia or wherever it is you kiss your children goodnight safely at night whilst you encourage young helpless folks in the South East to throw bottles and projectiles at a National Army. As you ask the military to go and fight Boko Haram, you can also enlist in Nnamdi Kanu Biafra Secret Service or his ‘Lion Brigade Marines’ as a machinery, after all, Victor Banjo also fought in the Biafra Army in Civil War 1.

Who do you guys think have been in the North East for years? many of them dying, many of those soldiers from across Nigeria daily paying the supreme sacrifice to protect Nigerians.

Don’t be ashamed say where you stand, you all want Kanu and his militias to have a free ride, Nigeria can burn so long it brings that Buhari down, where have you all been for over 2 years that this character has been propagating worst rhetorics than what led to the Rwanda genocide. Be proud but don’t outsmart yourself with the now broken record of ‘I am not a fan of Nnamdi Kanu’ go home and join his army of militias.

Those of us who have been down this roads before, who witnessed the death of poor Yoruba boys and girls pushed into untimely death by leaders who kept their kids abroad will not let it happen again. I am not a fan of Nnamdi Kanu’s IPOB. I am not afraid to say that, yes to restructuring and if possible Nigeria can choose to break but not at the price of sending poor kids to untimely death, whilst your children are safe abroad, sorry you do not have my support. Once beaten 10 times shy.

We will continue to counter your narratives and your propaganda. We will condemn Buhari and the government if and when they do wrong as we have been doing, we will condemn aspects of the military operation if and when it violates the rights of citizens as we did condemn them when they invaded NUJ office in Abia State but for now, let the Python dance. Kanu said he's got the nuclear capabilities to stop the python from dancing, he did say he would wipe out any Nigerian soldier who may choose to come to his Biafra Republic, in this battle, just like Civil War 1 we won't have winners, we will all pay the price, sadly the ground zero of the battle will pay worst price. Before you come with your 'I am not a fan of Kanu', make some efforts in taming your Frankenstein monster before it consumes all. ~Oluwakayode Olumide Ogundamisi
If it is not important then why bother speak about it. A nation that cannot pull its citizens together by any means other than violence has no long term viability. Who will invest in that. You speak of folks living abroad. Why do they choose to live abroad in the first place. Is it not because they cannot stand to fight for what is right, which is a just, equitable society that rewards excellence. What do you defend by this article, a corrupt, autocratic system of rent seeking racists. That is what the army and the owners of Nigeria are defending, the system, the same failed system the government has done nothing to repair in two and a half years. Who is talking to the ethnic nationalities, no one. What program has this government put in place to answer the national question, none. Violence is inevitable in a confined space where dissent is crushed. At least Yaradua was able to halt the Niger Delta decay of the Obasanjo years. At least Jonathan was able to configure some sort of national discourse to neutralise the likes of Nnamdi Kanu. And another president will come to halt the disatrous internal policy of this undiplomatic federal government. That is the assignment for you. Begin to criticise that.

Emeka Ihedioha from Imo State was the Co-Chairman of constitutional amendment committee yet he couldn't lobby his members to include Referendum.

Morons making excuses for them will foolishly tell you that Hausa-Fulani did not support them yet:

Ihedioha manipulated his ruling party PDP and conspired with opposition ACN to become deputy speaker to Hausa man

Ike Ekweremmadu manipulated the ruling APC and conspired with some Northerners to become the Deputy Senate President.

Maybe Ndigbo know how to Lobby Hausa Fulani when it comes to Personal and Selfish interest but will label them unapproachable when it comes to our collective interest.

Solution to your problem is within you. Keep blaming every other tribes for your problems and exonerate the crooks you elected to Represent you.

Go and study how to lobby in a Democracy and stop glorifying idiocy through senseless utterances

The Niger Delta has had political representation since independence. Honestly admit to yourself that it was militancy that made derivation possible and imperative. Where has a subsequent push for relevance gone via the PIB, nowhere till date and you feel others won't learn from the successes and failures. Why being clever by half. You insist on one undivided Nigeria yet you tribalise everything by saying 'your enemies within'. Has it occurred to you that not everyone belives in the political system, (even in your region) and that is why they want out of the entire system so that you can keep your Ikweremadu and Ihedioha who you claim by default work for you and not them.

SmartMugu:
This is a forum and I think everybody just says whatever they want, some of those comments reiterates our tribal differences.

I don't even live in Nigeria but I'm Yoruba wherever I find myself in the world. Thats how i was created and im proud. I just think it's not okay to generalize. I lived, studied and left Nigeria when I was young. I believe I'm getting much older now. I joined this forum just to keep track of happenings in Nigeria.

The first time I heard of that word 'Afonja', I asked on that thread
what that meant. Someone replied with a picture of a man with some tribal marks. I had no idea whose picture that was. Another responded with a bowl of ewedu soup. After reading other threads, it was time to see the tribal differences. Why be so tribalistic?

Tribalism is now new, it's been like that since I was just a baby. It's never been solved for that long, so I believe in a complete overhaul of the current existing system.

The most important people in my life right now are my family and friends. If being tribalistic is the way to go, my closest friends are arent much. One is Yoruba, one is Igbo, one is Hausa, and one is from Bayelsa Niger-delta.
These are people I've known through my adolescence life and we still talk almost every week. We've known one another for many years and I'm spending a part of my next visit to Nigeria with my friend from the north. His parents still call me even though they know I'm Yoruba but they liked me for who I am. My Igbo friend was still here lately and him and his wife came over to my place. So, I don't discriminate at all. I don't know why folks here on the forum keep describing everyone from a tribal perspective.

The idea is this, don't assume everyone is same.Because a few folks act a certain way is no reason to condemn the entire tribe.
From a tribal stand-point though, we all don't entirely think alike and are better off in our separate locations. No wars needed, unless a certain set of people need everyone to stay together for their personal reasons. Only them benefit from it, not us.
So why defend a particular tribe if you are not a tribalist...or as I will say racist. The first test to know a racist is race consciousness. You react to prickles. You may have friends but you know where they are from...bros you are not innocent, just take it. One tug of your chain and you have gone ballistic. True love sees no evil. Just advice.

Fake News everywhere.

Believe this story at your own peril. How can Abba Kyari become Vice President when we have the Senate President? and the Speaker of the House?Nigeria is still a Democracy in case the people spreading this fake News don't know.
Is the Vice not a nominee. Can't a replacement equally be nominated. In the event the President is incap and his veep takes over he can nominate. The Senate President becomes defacto Hos when both President and Vice are gone for any reason in order to maintain governance and it will only be temporary until elections can be arranged.
The fact that the Sen Pres is called the number 3 citizen does not mean he is the Vice President's vice president and can be 'promoted' to the Executive like some civil servant.
The institutions are seperate, distinct and equal and the Senate President is a President in his own right. The creed is just for emergencies.

I seriously advice the government to deescalate the situation. It has been talking about diversification since inception but the only thing accomplished so far in this light is the diversification of its challenges from the Boko Haram insurgency to four enterprises now in the Niger-Delta militancy, the fulani menace and now the eastern secession. Should I say weldone on such outstanding achievements when it is totaly unnecessary. The government should improve its diplomatic skill set and its political competeencies. They have hitherto been sacrificed for parochial sectional, interests. This is a time to call in experts from our academia and institutes to brainstorm a way out. The military lacks the tools to bring this situation to anything but a disastrous epic. Kanu has not touched a soul. He has engaged government via the eastern politicians. He has shown to be a person who can be reached. What has central government done to reach out.

The great thing about being objective and sincere in life, in private, public and on social media is that you get to comment on anything and everything without fear of contradiction or hypocrisy. Now, for those who have been ranting all over this forum about the troubles in the east where incidentally the only blood shed was that of unarmed civilians legitimately making a defiant stand against oppression, can you come out and speak about the killings by a militia on another set of unarmed civilians by a sect that claims to be above the law if you folks are not hopelessly hypocritical.

Investigative policing would involve other working agencies of government. So dont think America style of policing will work in Nigeria.
First of all, we dont have a reliable shareable database of Nigerians. The nearest is BVN of course but it not integrated to record criminal history and certainly doesnt cover 60% of the population.

Investigative policing means,
1. the person ID is on the database (we dont have)
2. his recent travels and purchase are logged (we dont have)
3. his face has been captured in a CCTV in at least last one month (we dont have)
4. once his ID is flagged, he cannot use any social services (not in Nigeria)

So in the absence of all these, the Nigeria Police has to work with what it has - guilty until proven innocent
So why doesn't the police build a database oh wise one. If the CBN can, surely the police with more teeth and judicial backup can. They are just a lazy and ignorant bunch. Read through the history of the FBI or the ATF, they passed over mountains of civil liberties to build the investigative capacities and competencies they have today. We just love mediocrity here. 1977 indigenization policy
1987 economic restructuring
1997 Niger delta upheavals
2007 bokoharam insurgency
2017 eastern secession

some might even add 1957 to that list but it appears every decade or so the Nigerian state sits down and decides to shoot itself in the foot. The fact that the fallout of each of these catastrophic events is still felt today is testament of our collective failures to learn any lessons whatsoever and because the black man is such a short term thinker and shortsighted visioner his society is constantly being corroded by avoidable unfortunate events.

It is baffling that an army that has sacrificed so much defending a state that has lost so much has learnt nothing from the terrible happenings up north. That we all say today how we wish the leader of that sect was not killed that way a decade or so ago but made to face the law....and yet..

Marriage is the only thing that matters if you are a woman. Without marriage, you are not complete.

Other women should follow this example. Even if you marry a philandering criminal wife beater, you have met your societal obligations
Marriage as an institution is right, proper and desirable for a lot of reasons. The fact that a number of folks donot understand it or know how to run it does not change the need for it. Accidents don't make cars bad or the desire to have one evil. Accidents understood and learned from improve safety on the other hand. When the pressure to own one comes from 'society' does it absolve one of the responsibility to research a quality model and then learn how to drive safely?. So what pressure are we talking here. Those who are diligent will be diligent under pressure and those who are sloppy will be sloppy even if they are still teenagers.

Most girls in the university are in school to study and get a good husband instead of studying to better their lives. That why they fall victim to all kinds of wild men out there.
Exactly, so that when these silly men with fake lives come around peddling pie in the sky fairy tales they won't move you. You are focused, objectified and driven. You have a vision you need a partner to help attain not a life jacket for survival. Then he will know your worth and what he stands to lose if it breaks down. Once upon a time it started April and ended late November with lots of turbulence all the way but with CAF seriously thinking of aligning its calendar and the need to give our teams enough game time before the continental club games begin this is a right move and hopefully the results will show sooner than later. It is important for women (girls) to go through a process of self development to avoid falling for animals like these. Get a vision, set high standards and you will meet your man in the process of pursuing it, a man who will appreciate your value and who you will be able to vett over an appreciable length of time . When I say longer courship some say it is unimportant, when I say seek God's face for guidance and grace in important (life) decisions, people say God is unimportant. So, get off social media and chat shops, get a skill, get busy, focus on the mind not the body and free your destiny.
