GAZZUZZ:We will be using Nissans to roast bole and fish or to fry akara. Such a poorly constructed automobile. |
miniziter:Oga, you speak about ideology but I will put it to you that everyone knows that the rates on offer and the unreasonably short tenure of the 'investment' will draw a lot more than 'spare money'. You see my man, corruption and criminality is imputed on both the 'taker' and 'giver' be it bribery or drug peddling, both sides are guilty. In this case it is more akin to fraud in which your subscribers are the victims of an inducement that overpowers their sense of propriety. That is a crime. That is why gambling is restricted in several societies and outlawed in others. It is overly enticing, compulsively addictive and financially retrogressive. Like your ponzi scheme it destabilizes and destroys legitimate financial and productive plans, processes and systems of individuals, families, organizations and even countries. What can justify an unproductive individual prospering based on a scheme that takes from a legit source and gives to him. What is the motivation then to work (to exchange resources for effort, risk or skill). What is the motivation then to get an education or learn a trade. I cannot see what else is a ponzi except a criminal scheme of untold destruction, sorrow and mental and material retrogression. |
osazsky:Exactly. Just like the famed American gold rush. The only folks that made any money were those who sold digging tools and supplies along the way. Those that bought into the hype either ended up dead or broke. All financial services and products depend on confidence to gather momentum and grow from which the promoters skim profits. Nothing is produced so the system ultimately is as unstable as a bicycle or motorbike. It needs legs (fairy tales) to stand and forward motion to survive. Once that cannot be sustained and the tales are sour, the whole thing crashes. That is why you will never see me there. My third principle of investing is simple. 'Be the first customer'. If I cannot consume what I invest in then it is not worth it. I cannot consume paper or coins but only re-exchange them for cash so I am ultimately at the mercy of another mug. That to me is just undesirable. |
free2ryhme:Typical african....monumentally wasteful. |
igbsam:Eh now, if you have to do all these then you have confirmed his assertion. |
Well it should be expected but this is a very commendable step by the military and the COAS. Winning the hearts and minds is important in organizing operations in civilian theatres. This should have been done in Abia before the debacle past week. I am sure the turn out will improve with time and effort. |
FrancisIgya:Oga stop this nonsense, both the man who takes narcotics and the man fuelling his habit are both guilty. Bailouts were to keep the people from revolting. Revolt is the hair triger for real change. Anyone who seeks to maintain the status quo is an enemy of the people. The feds give you peanuts having taken a pound and here you are cheering. If the Federal government wanted to help the people of Benue state it will identify the sources of the highest employment which naturally is agriculture and invest such huge funds. Trust me the billions going into agriculture will turn the state around. Get the beneficiaries to repsy such loans and encourage them to pay taxes to the state coffers. That is how economies work. People are put to work and taxed to fund government. What did your Buhari led government do. It gave all the money for paying government workers who in any state are just a micro fraction of the population so have no economic significance. These same workers consume up to 70 percent on of the state budget and since no IGR comes in, once the bailout money is exhausted the whole system grinds to a halt again. We need visionary leadership in this country to really change things. Am afraid the current occupier of that office is not doing anything different from his predecessors. The same failed structure, the same failed policies. |
Terver90:With all the agro industrial and mineral resources available....kai abeg poverty is in the mind before the body. That is why we need restructuring so that allocations come to an end, then you guys will hit rock bottom and the jolt hopefully will reset your minds. |
Omeokachie: ....tolotolo twerk indeed...you guys eh....anyway government na comedy central |
A country without men.... |
AfroSisi:You ladies ought to tone down the over sexualisation of society. You cannot make credible arguments against the men folk in a quest for respect with people like these constantly undermining such efforts. Haba, where do you see men exhibiting their privates all over front page, social media. Its becoming highly corrosive. |
Ishilove:Hmmm...who taught you this...why na. |
Childofaking:Story. They have been hunting and exorcising ghosts from government payroll since Murtala overthrew Gowon but the situation of the immoral imbalance between salaries and development has only worsened. And please don't bring the corruption slogan here because these governments are under the closest scrutiny in the history of Nigerian governance andunder a self acclaimed anti-corruption crusade(r). Yet the situation is the worst in the history of Nigeria. So don't blame ghosts just as corruption's effect on tne economy is overrated. There is just no capacity to govern well simply caused by the structure of the system which has next to no accountability. Run the governments like corporations not like ancient feudal kingdoms and see everyone sit up and every naira efficiently used. A couple of years ago we all laughed at a certain local government in Nassarawa that had a dozen or so drivers for just one servicable vehicle in its pool. Is that not disgusting to you. Can you run even your home like that. Even if you were a benevolent philanthropist won't you find sensible closure to that matter asap. But that is how our state has been run since independence. Wasted all our oil resources for decades and you are talking about ghosts. What is the average performance criteria by which civil service work is measured, none. The best the CEO's do is to monitor clocking in and out for a while. No one asks what is being done to justify billions of naira each month. I bet you if they gave you that money to run your state you will sack half within a month. Just preposterous. |
Childofaking:Oga, stop all these abeg. Do we all elect governments and pay taxes just for salaries. What is this mad desire to have only civil servants satisfied. Are they the only ones undegoing economic stress. Developmental projects are for the benefit of all the populace of that locality and whatever bailout funds are provided should meet both salaries and services in equal measure. I have said it countless times, this useless structure by which goverments at all levels spend upwards of 70 percent of revenues on recurrent expenditure is not acceptable. Civil servants are not more hardworking than the general populace and certainly not more important. They are there because there is a people to be governed and when the people suffer they should suffer as well. No institution or enterprise can and should guarantee jobs and salaries for life. If the wage bill is too high the workforce must be shed. We should stop all these abeg. It is killing this country. If you own a company you will not invest, you will not build it, just be taking loans to pay salaries. What kind of future will you have if you will have one at all. Corporate law should be used in running states just like in the US permitting them to go bankrupt thus cutting all thses useless obligations by law. We need to urgently restructure. |
Badluck:Stop being clever by half. Will you be willing to accept an Ijaw President from another party after Buhari's regime is over thoughtless of one from Bayelsa. Will you not rave and rant. Yaradua is from Katsina, Buhari is from Katsina, two Presidents from one state in less than a double term apart. Where else can this happen and you tell me Nigeria's geo-politics isn't skewed. When there is cross cultural advantage you will gladly hear the terms hausa-fulani, one north, etc but when pressure is placed on the region as in this secessionist drama you gladly delaminate. Shows that the people behind this movement actually know what they are doing in driving a wedge between northern groups. |
The guv taking a cue from the centre. |
DEBJOCH1:You guys CANNOT be serious. What in the world are you payed to attempt suicide every working. That job is for machines to do not flesh and blood. Better quit while your ducks are still quacking. |
Nice. I'd like to buy one and convert it to a mobile office, but the tyres...hmmm |
See how this mess is snowballing The government just played into the hands of the seperatists. They should just hope these countries view the issue from a dispassionate perspective through their ambassadors who will have made independent observations on the brouhaha. |
Evaberry:Na true. But what is your response to the other post earlier where a cheating lady broke the man's heart after certain life changing investments were made. Is she female scum too oh hypocritical ladies. Cheating is unisex and done in equal proportions. It is one argument of the sexes that meets with unequivocal, universal quality. |
Racists everywhere. This country is fast going intellectually bankrupt. |
rexbuton:It is so terrible to see what Nigerians are becoming. Leadership at all levels should condemn violence and find a negotiable solution. I said it right from the start. The Boko Haram question has no military solution. Violence begets violence. The government needs to de-escalate conflicts in every region. Draw Nigerians to talk to one another and find lasting peace. No one should hold onto set ideologies as to what this country should be. We are all stakeholders. The military operation in the east this past week leading to chaos, destruction and death was clearly wrong. The government should be quick to remember that had it been that the Boko Haram leader was still in custody or under the law this monster will not have been created. The lessons must be learnt in dealing with all conflicts. Let them end in insults, not bloodshed. |
abikerichard:Everyone who makes laws say the same thing. And I agree, you cannot have a progressive society without proactive laws. That is why we advocate for the decoupling of instruments of state. My grouse is the hypocrisy with which it is being done. No one rolled out tanks when Lagos decided it needed new Local Government Councils. The law operated and Federal might prevailed. Instead they were called Local Government Authorities. Today states including Lagos have all sorts of laws and edicts tjat run contrary to the Federal Republic but no one says they are wrong. No one is in detention because of that. Why pretend about what is obvious. That this country needs restructuring. Why seek to hold others back when you do almost the exact thing through the backdoor or creep tjrough the window. If I drive my car to Lagos what guarantees does the mighty Federal Government give me that it will not be impounded because I donot pay taxes to Lagos state (by proxy) |
eyeview:So is Lagos not creating another country by default. Is this not a secessionist move. Can it enforce this, impound vehicles from other states and perhaos arrest its owners who violate (its laws). What is the Joint Tax Board saying about this. We say no to state police but have the Hisbah operating in some northern states and all manner of paramilitary organisations all around Nigeria with real powers to apprehend, disrupt and even incarcerate Nigerians. We say we are a non religious, circular democracy but we have sharia laws they say are for adherents to the faith. When we say restructure so that these things can be understood, negotiated, mutually accepted and made lawful. But the hypocrisy in us will not allow that simply because we want Nigeria laws to hold others back while we need our own laws to forge ahead. We want to have our cake and eat it. We need the security of Nigeria but not the responsibility towards our fellow men. These are the fault lines of injustice that cause unnecessary turbulence in this country, that makes this entity called a nation unworkable and we will continue to burn resources and shed blood needlessly from time to time to keep it from imploding. |
Poverty loading. If West Africa Ceramics decide to leave or,.... if they increase the cost of security (including the IG's cut) or,..... if they decide to withdraw all expats and replace them with Nigerians.... anyway you look at it, Kogi state, the people and the country in general loses. |
ProfCyber:Indeed. Bought my tickets, moving house and office and I hope family and friends follow.... because I want a service that is supposed to be wireless.... too early for rubbish collection. That is done at night. |
MohammedAlfa1:Slower than that. |
Its your country. You want it that way so....enjoy. |
Worldbest281:Eh, eh, eh, hold it there. What is all the seniority stuff. Are football clubs secondary school dorms. Players are bought and sold to improve the squad so if Neymar was brought in it was certainly not to understudy anyone but to do stuff better than was seen before and this may or may not include free kicks so cut him some slack. |
Thought it is the gaffer that decides that. Player power on display. |
erico2k2:Read the second paragraph pls. It explains my inquiry. Typical car fires are totalled within two to three minutes. Even the best emergency services can only deal with a fraction of them. When victims are trapped in accidents, fire fatalities are near 100 percent anywhere in the world. |
Structure is everything. We complain about the Judiciary but not that they are tied to the purse strings of the Executive which they are meant to judge. Which Governor, Council Chair or President will truly love to see a free, unimpaired, independent Judiciary, none. But we the people are quick to side with them against the theird arm and the guarantors of our civil liberties until we fall victims ourselves. If we love sports but have no regards for umpires or the governing bodies, just the players, how can we then participate or enjoy the game. Will there be a game at all. |
