shilz:Indeed. I can't stand broken strands. Mine must be full to curl to a full fork size without losing traction |
goingape1:The term nation is used more commonly to describe a collection of people of similar identity, while a country is more of a geo-political expression. With over 150 million inhabitants Nigeria can be divided into five nations and will still out-populate many others. |
Once again this is unbecoming of a public figure addressing the leader of the nation in such derogatory manner. What folks fail to realise is that they only reap what they sow. You cannot expect there will be no answer to this somewhere down the line. We started it in 1999 with the freedoms democracy gave us and took it to unprecedented levels in the last administration. Surely there has to be a tipping point when we all realise there is no benefit in crass insults and racial commentaries. FFK should not overstretch the limits of civil liberties like a couch potato training to win a marathon almost overnight. |
Of course mandates are time specific so can be traced to calendar dates. It is the whole essence of Christianity and proves spiritual things have real life material effects. God is real. This world has a real end date. |
Dreadful:That is why the easterners raised the ante and asked for broke, complete dissolution. They know that certain sections will play a zero sum game, and they feel their objectives may not be attainable internally. Just like in surgery, there are operations so delicate you virtually have to induce coma to prevent the body from fighting the procedure. There are many scenarios a lot of people have postulated privately how this will all end and most are too graphic to share here but the choice(s) remain stark. The owners of Nigeria will not let go without a fight. |
reptile1:Simple. But they want a lightning rod in Nnamdi Kanu to deflect from the real reason why this country is in a mess it cannot get out of. Normal Nigerian stuff. Give the dog a bad name, hang it and the barking stops. They should realise the so called victory against a certain individual or organisation that is just a few short years in prominence is just self delusional. They know the real problems but choose to avoid them. |
geosegun:Oga leave the long talk. You are not the one going to live there. Switzerland amongst a dozen or so countries are land locked. Land doesn't make a country, people do and the struggle for the soul of Nigeria has been an inter-people struggle. It is peoples behaviours towards others that has led to this unfortunate turn of events. If the rest of Nigeria had said, come you guys let us talk, what do you want, we will meet you half way then the likes of Nnamdi Kanu will be handlable, but the arrogance of Nigeria is not helping. All nations constantly negotiate with their citizens on the ways to co-exist. How can a natiin which claims to have gained independence now turn around to oppress its own people. Independence means equality and justice for all. No one is superior to the other. |
Alcatraz005:No...because all the legs are falling apart. People who were blind are just realizing what those with eyes have seen. .. |
seunmsg:You don dey reverse small small after all the hot air.... must be lonely at the top.....that is why we must always stand for what is right, not what we fear, not what we feel.... Now that Tinubu has been there and seen it.... it becomes clear that this country simply cannot work this way, period. |
billyG:Same thing with gravity... |
Omooba77:There is nothing wrong technically in blaming the devil because he is the author, the resource person of all that is wrong and against the kingdom of God. The devil started this whole mess to spite God so part of his punishment according to God is that all the sins of the world will be heaped on him so it is happening. God promised to pit enimity between Satan and man so even where Satan uses men they still turn around and curse him eventually. This however does not clear man from blame and the penalty for sin because He is a free moral agent and has been given the choice of wrong or right, a will and a privilege no other creature was given. So Satan's pre-trial punishment is to bear all the count charges of all men who ever lived and offended. Then when his own are read out.... |
jegz25:If it is rosy and profitable why are they not pushing that agenda. Why are they not investing intensely in agriculture and mining and whatever. Why are they spending the little they have on military operations to hold onto the resources of other locales. Answer oh, because since I began to read many years ago I have been hearing this tale you tell yet Ajaokuta remains a tomb like Chernobyl and the Ministry of Solid minerals has not done anything solid since inception. As a matter of fact can you remember that a certain popular ex governor is the minster...I bet you have forgotten because that is how dead that place is. And that is how ready you folks are for post oil blues...be deceiving yourselves.... |
Alcatraz005:I've repeatedly told them so. That is why the rampaging Niger-Delta militants are the greatest agents of change and the strongest allies of the owners of Nigeria. They will guarantee this country survives a post all-electric world by weaning them off the addictive stuff, but will they listen.... The Biafran secessionists are the next important agents of change because they have been screaming for reform or revolt. Their quest to leave should be welcomed by the owners of Nigeria because quite frankly when a post oil famine comes there will be less mouths to feed and a few billions less to borrow from the world bank and the IMF. When a CEO sees a dip in fortunes ahead he begins to offload 'less profitable assets' in order to 'balance the balance sheet' in future....as most think the east is less profitable to them so why hang on.... Interesting times ahead ![]() |
napoleon77:It is illegal at least back then and was clearly indicated amongst your JAMB examination materials. You could not seek an admission via matriculation to an undergraduate program having previously gained admission, i.e. was or is in a program. You ould however change courses or void the resukt of the exam but even that was tedious. Then only way back then was directly through the college's pre degree programmes which were popular so it was possible then to be an undergrad and pre grad at the same time at two different institutions, But what will make one try it since undergrad programmes are full time. How can you be in two colleges on the same day even if they are located in the same town and if they are, they probably share the same resources so you will be found out easily. |
In those days it was illegal....simply because the government subsidises college education and you will be seen aa denying your fellow citizen that right. Thus by extension it is fraud. |
GuyfawkesAB:You don't have to read a book before coming to a personal conclusion. Sometimes the title speaks volumes and some choose not to proceed and be persuaded. What is wrong with that. Do you read through everything you come across before concluding whether it is worth it or not. I don't read most things on this forum but I have a lot of views on most things. |
Told them it was all about the game not the players. Told them that it was about the system not the individual. Told them superman couldn't save Nigeria but superstructures. Told them they couldn't scratch the back of the thick skinned, 300 pound gorilla called corruption . Told them the best they could expect from this government or any other would be superficial....even that is a slowly fading mirage....told them all the pre-election hot air was like using a can of insecticide in a bug infested swamp.... Now as they cried to change Goodluck Jonathan they want to change Buhari just for the sake of change. The same country, the same constitution, the same structure.....so the same failures....Buhari or not. |
Oh, I was thinking it was foreign backers of Ipob but it sounds more like the sympathetic diaspora contributing and protesting... Of course what do you expect to happen. The secessionists will have sympathizers and they will act in cash and kind to further the cause well away from the government's over reach and sphere of influence. That is why we advised that the government dialogue instead of escalating this problem. They should take a cue from the Irish Republicans or the Basque crusade or the Western Sahara brouhaha or the Kurdish movement. Once it moves abroad and becomes international it develops a life of its own which makes it a magnet for all manner of resources from all sort of entities both friends and foes with both bad and good intentions. That is why diplomacy 101 simply says, exhaust all avenues of dialogue first. Violence should be the very last option, where there is simply no viable alternative way forward. Now this thing has gone abroad, this country is in a bigger mess than when it started. There is no way a government official here will be more persuasive than a person resident there. Instead of playing the confrontational card towards these foreign countries, the government should pally them to extract information and cooperation. Nigeria is not exactly in any strategic, diplomatic or economic shape to brow beat. |
luxy44:I partly disagree. One thing education delivers is the respect for knowledge even if the bearer is of a lower social status. Observe I said respect for knowledge because all the mental resources of the world are not domiciled with the dedicated alone. Some of the great advancements in history have been made by uneducated but knowledgeable folks who were just inspired to do things. |
nurey:.....hearsay... |
Now since the interface between the polity and military is almost complete...since the space between opposition and insurrection has grayed.... since the lines between 'hate speech' and 'free speech' is no longer red or black but a brown mixture, the authorities have all the aces in the deck. The question now is: how do you change a government like this if and when you want to. Just sit back and ask yourself this important question.....friends, it is not about the players....it is about the game. |
Billyonaire:Against a civilian population with no identified targets. Just getting worse every day. I have a feeling this is a prelude to something big going to happen. |
Agboola321:That is, the government indicating it has no confidence in its institutions and has no idea of how to improve them to meet up with pressing challenges. More political ammo for the opposition. Just say 'we will improve upon all law enforcement agencies, revamp the criminal justice system and guarantee that the military is deployed for military operations only'... you've secured thirty million votes....in a sane society... but here... |
.....operation totolo tango...but how about that for a sound bite. However ln a serious note I think this government is just boxing it self in and is clearly on a mad rush to political suicide. It gives its political adversaries both within and without so much ammunition with which to floor it come next elections. I mean how naive can you be. Clearly going against the constitution in the home front of your vice president who by the way is an accomplished law man is just callous.I know they wish to appear impartial and not racist by 'spreading' the woe but even a blind bat can see through this charade. Everyone recognises that the biggest, widest and most audacious acts of criminality in Nigeria the past 18 months has been the fulani herdsmenace and its epicentre has been the middlebelt but they cannot afford to destabilize their outpost any further. Its just a pity the way this country is going....honestly.. |
Because of poor planning regulations and ignorance on the part of home owners such problems indeed do exist. The general word of advice in develpoing new properties in virgin areas is in two parts: One, wait till everyone else around (plots besides and behind) have sunk their water well (borehole) then just go fifty feet deeper to guarantee better filtration. Second, wait till everyone else has built their septic tanks and soak pits then locate your water well at least 30 feet from the nearest one even if over the fence; because once you've done yours your neighbours are under no obligation to move their plans for waste dump from near your well. You will need their goodwill and grace to do that in this lawless society of ours. But if you cannot wait for them to settle in or cannot ascertain where their waste infrastructure is located the second train of wisdom says locate your well just inside the front facing/road leaning fence line somewhere at the midpoint of the plot. Then you can be sure the half width of your plot is the minimum distance to any existing, potential and future planned cesspit. Afterall no one will dig one right in the middle of the street and your fence should protect it from flood invasion. However if you are still skeptical you might as well pre plan to have it sunk right in the middle of your building and have a service chamber built around and above it. That is the ultimate guarantee against bio-invasion. |
In the process of over extending one is bound to fall over. Chiamanda, this your quest to change the universe in your life time will cause forgettable gaffes from time to time such as this. This is actually shameful. |
Omooba77:Exactly, the rules of engagement are very bad. We know the police for being heavy handed some times and this gives them the opportunity to 'bump off' a few undesirables. And since the goal of cultism is more of a mental rather than a physical one like robbery all they need to do is plant a gun instead of going through the trouble of displaying vehicles, electronics and other paraphernalia of robberies. But can you blame them. The criminal justice system remains embryonic. |
KanwuliaExtra:Then that is Nigeria's problem and not that of the igbos. There is no country without a civil war in the past. Only in Nigeria's case has it not been able to overcome it. The American civil war was like forever ago. Today despite the south producing presidents the Confederate flag still flies in some southern localities. It was the church massacre by a white supremacist of unarmed black worshippers during a black presidency that caused the lowering of one recently voted BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THAT STATE meaning that other racist citizens had had enough and wanted integration. Why didn't Obama deploy the National Guard to burn down the place and protect fellow blacks. The United Kingdom, France, Germany...no. country you can name does not have a chequered history of political civil strife. Only in Nigeria does the reasons for the first one still resound till today. It is not the failure of the defeated to remain defeated. It is the failure of the victorious to prove they were the real winners. |
Yomboy4ever:Did you vote Ojukwu. The igbos didn't enmasse because they were still playing the integration game not wanting to look sectional. Since then has it bettered their political lot or their perception in the eyes of those who own this country, no. Now they are assertive they are branded criminal and sectional. You want them to vote for your candidates enmasse but cannot fathom voting their candidates enmasse. Abeg who is the racist here. |
Allee90:If that is the case then it is the north's problem. If the north has a race issue against a particular people then it will have to deal with it or prepare to hear more agitations to leave. You cannot force someone to like you and similarly you cannot force someone to associate with you. If the white population (still in the majority) did not cast aside their similar sensibilities and vote a black man, Obama will not have been elected despite the perception that the american black race remains at the bottom of the desirability ladder. But they know the importance of a strong union. Does Nigeria. |
dokie:Don't mind them. The only noticable improvements in the south-south that the likes of Amaechi of the APC or Akpabio of the PDP boast of were simply laid for them on the platform of increased revenue by derivation the so called touts in the creeks fought and died for. The same Nigeria hung their patron, the late Ken Saro Wiwa whose only crime was to protest the marginalization of those south tribes and the barbaric acts of oil companies towards their hoset communities and environment. It tells you that Nigeria is not sincere in seeking the welfare of its inhabitants. It tells you that only force or the threat of it brings about real change in this country. It tells you negotiations and peace overtures do nothing to arm twist the owners of Nigeria into conceding anything as the PIB has been delayed, truncated, watered down by the owners of Nigeria for almost a decade now. So what is Okorocha saying. He has worked examples all aound him as to what works and what does not work in Nigeria...just deceiving himself that he was just a hairs breadth away from his eldorado. |
But we should all list the most expensive things we have smashed or destroyed in anger at poor performance. Mine was a mini tab (not the tab but because of the network -MTN) over a repeatedly failed electronic banking transaction. Haven't regreted it one bit. I was livid. But to burn a car.....that is real madness. |
