Stop being insensitive. While the army has its code of conduct, the decision by the army to sentence its own men to death while the battle with Boko Haram persists shows how terrrible the decision makers are. At the very least, they should have postponed this hearing/sentencing/tribunal. What do you think this will do to the rest of those soldiers whose morale is at the lowest? What do you think this will do with regards to Boko Haram? It will be sending a wrong message. At the very least, the President should have pardoned them by now. We are at war with Islamic Extremists and all we want to do is kill our own soldiers. Really?
It will have no negative consequences to the morale of the men of the armed forces whatsoever. If you have been in harms way before the last thing you want beside you is a coward. You will as well shoot him yourself.

The guy is wearing a flak jacket and carrying a GPMG together with his colleague. Where will you see up to two GPMG's in a section and they say they are ill-equiped to their gullible cyber audience who know nothing whatsoever about the military except what they hear. The units actually engaging the insurgents are very small in number and even if there are only ten thousand rifles in the ordinance of the infantry that is more than enough. I may question the training, tactics and the supply chain but from day one I never questioned the availability of the weapons and ammunition required to prosecute this type of campaign because I know.

Shut your big mouth off, with your embezzlement rubbish. Same fucccking story from cowards since 1960.

"They said their refusal to obey orders of the Commanding Officer of the Special Forces Battalion, Lt. Colonel Opurum, was as a result of non availability of arms and ammunition to prosecute the instruction of the commander."

...Yet their commander, Lt-Col Opurum went with just 29 men and SUCCESSFULLY carried out the mission
I see. Not surprised. They indiscipline grafted into They armed forces since Babangida came to power remains. So sorry for them. They should meet their fate with the bravery they lacked on the battlefield. Soldiers have been fighting and dying ill-equiped since time immemorial. The penalty for dissertion and mutiny has remained the same.

You think we don't know how government operates. Politicians go in and out of government producing corrupted fruit from a decadent land called the civil service. Who do you think teaches these people corruption and other un-patriotic acts. Who are the common denominators in the running, the rule and misrule of Nigeria these 60 odd years. I laugh.

b.) Unions.
c.) The public.
d.) Themselves.
e.) The government.

Will GEJ tell me that his salaries for Oct to Dec has not been paid?

Leave government and look for something better to do. Government contributes next to nothing to the development of the country but is the biggest stumbling block. I don't pity them at all. They are supposed to be the managers of our collective wealth but even the managers cannot pay themselves. They are supposed to plan for the nation but could not anticipate the oil price drop. Is it the vulcanizer along benin-ore highway that will project for them. All they do is to strike and show us pepper over their ambitions and pockets. Damn them, institution killers. Their dry pockets will help keep inflation in check over the holidays.

Wasn't it their NLC who sabotaged the occupy movement?
Now they are crying over spilt milk.
What Is the use of all the workers in the ministry of works when all the roads, bridges and buildings are built by half literate Chinese, Lebanese, syrians and Indians?
In the hands of a thieving government, better the workers get a salary else Jonathan would simply have more money to steal.
In the hands of a proper competent government, three-quarter of the civil service ( apart from essential workers) should simply be laid off.
Hmm, partly true, wishful thinking though.

When will these folks learn that every human being has a right to chose whom he wants to fraternize with, party with, vote for etc?

See Reno playing the ethnic card shamelessly. so Amaechi is under obligation to support GEJ simply because they are both from ND? And he'll have the effrontery to accuse APC of tribalism and religious discrimination
They are practicing the tenets of opposition, mudslinging. I think I warned the APC when they were they were throwing theirs that they were teaching the PDP bad lessons, now the chickens are home, so why complain now. The best days of the APC are coming to an end. Power begets responsibility so get ready for more. I personally wish the PDP gets more aggressive. They have been docile for far too long to They detriment of democracy in general. Afterall democracy is a contest.

Do you know, that most 10 yrs old in Igbo land know that restructuring Nigeria will restructure out those vices like corruption, underdevelopment, bad governance at the center, and ultimately poverty. Why are Nigerians not bold enough to undertake that clear and straight forward approach?, cos some groups are afraid, and therefore are willing to destroy or even bring their group to extinction as long as the other group is destroyed too. This was what Obasonjo daughter was trying to point out to her dad on that letter about the unsustainability of the present system.
Now you guys are coming round to understand and appreciate the limitations of our existing structure. That's why people like us will have nothing to do with this present system and just gaze with amazement at the gullibility of the so called middle class or educated class who pursue an utopian dream the elites and real owners of Nigeria know is just to keep them relevant and in power to one end and one end alone, the suppression of ideals and the primitive acquisition of wealth. Sorry.

That is why I appreciate this present regime as the best so far. It does not seek to subsidise or hide the inadequacies of the Nigerian state but has exposed the country, its peoples, its institutions and its systems for what they really are, weak and unworkable. This is a first and most important step in addressing the root problems. Unfortunately most Nigerians ae unable to get to the flash-point, the eureka moment when they realise this is not a real country. They still grope about hoping to find water in the desert or a shepherd to lead them to an oasis. For all the wise, educated and exposed people of Nigeria you just wonder, how did it all come to this.

My questions are? Is 2015 about gmb and southwest alone? Do they think 2015 is a done deal for them? The frenzy about gmb and Southwest is becoming nauseating.I don't see other components of the country being carried along in these schemings. South West has been exposed as a battle ground leaving a swat of middle belt ,Ss and se as inconsequential but they hold the ace. This election will not be decided on social media platforms as less than 1% of Nigerians are on social media, the bulk of voters have their cards to be swayed by ethnicity and religion when the chips are down. The whole scenario is beginning to look as if the southwest is scheming to grab power so soon after obj left yesterday. I believe the outcome of 2015 election will shock Nigerians,it is then they will understand the Nigeria brand of democracy.
I tell you. People just donot understand the kind of problems we have in Nigeria. These, 'I will build good roads to win elections' scenario does not hold here. When push comes to shove they will vote according to their premodial instincts of tribe, religion and fear. If you doubt this then why is a south-western pastor being bandied by the APC. If Osinbajo eventually wins lets see if RCCG will not celebrate him as one of their own. It is very clear that Adeboye is trying hard not to displease GEJ whom he endorsed in 2011.
RCCG will not celebrate Him as an institution. The people of RCCG may celebrate him depending on their political leanings and no RCCG did not endorse GEJ in 2011. Do not mistaken the prayers, laying of hands and the consequent media frenzy as an endorsement. If Buhari enquires he may get the same. I am certain daddy GO will even prefer to have Buhari in his assembly for reasons all Christians are familiar with. No. God doesn't play politics.

Its really shamefull to see all these so called pastors and men of god to be justling for political positions. GMB has shown Nigerians what stuff these people are made of people who can go to any extent to gain political power, the extent of worldliness in the heart of all these so called pastors and men of God, give them a little pleasures of life and they will abandon the gospel. See what happened in 2011, just because the pastor of latter rain was nominated VP, I need not remind us of the course and swearing that was spewing out of his mouth just to win an ordinary election. Today now that election has come and gone he has gone back to his church but some of us wont forget so easily the things he said at that time, and now again another one they say he is a RCCG pastor has been picked as VP for god's sake cant them p[astors ever stand up and say no way i have a superrior calling to be a light to the world and never to conform to the governments of this world. I am not surprised though because when you see the affluence and worldliness in some of them you will understand that they are just fooling themselves.

It is indeed a heart wrenching feeling to see how xtians keep falling each and everytime like this just a little temptation and they fall yakata but on the other hand I know i have never or heard where an Imam of Alfa abandoned the mosque to go and play politics if anyone has seen please share with us.
When government plan to do there evil of killing perceived enemies how will the pastor stop them or he will look away. Xtians should return back to the truth and serve the Lord in truth and in spirit and practice what they preach.

Only heaven knows what GMB is so desperately looking for in the presidency at 72 ro the extent that if he doesnt win the baboon and dogs will be soaked in blood can anyone fathom such threat. In the first place he has lost touch with todays governance principle and if he plans to depend on others then he might as well gerrof and let the real people handle it enough of all this things we do in this country. I believe in a country of of 167million people men and women, intellectuals, acadmicia, technocrats business mongols then there should not be any excuses to impose dead woods on the citizenry.

For the PDP, I want to believe they know the implications of what they are doing, I want to believe they realise that Nigerians have now become aware and we know the difference between performance and mediocrity. If they say GEJ is the best they can give then the people will speak on Feb 14, 2015.

Be that as it may the truth be told, the change we need now in 2015 can never and can not be found in either GEJ or GMB we need another hero in 2015 but where are they. We need a fearless patriot. At times like this my mind goes back to the many great men and women all over this country making exploits in their various endeavors people who have the midas touch to turn this nation around for good and prosperity.
No single Nigerian can change Nigeria. It is the people having been totally fed up of their miserable situation appoint someone to lead them and co-operate with the person to ensure results. Messiahs come from heaven. They are not found on earth and certainly not in Nigeria. The scripture that says 'righteousness exalts a nation' was not written to christians or the church alone. It is a universal law applicable to all peoples of all nations. In the bible as well it is recorded that God has worked with non-believing men, women and even kings and rulers to accomplish His Will and do His pleasure. So it will be highly unwise of the church to be partisan. God is not interested in politics. Buhari isn't a christian but if he will do God's will God will rather support him than an unwilling 'christian' Goodluck Jonathan. There are many biblical examples of this.

P.S. Abeg, political policemen. Not saying GEJ is recalcitrant towards God. Don't misunderstand this.

Yes he will and will counsel Him in wisdom as led by the Spirit of God. In scriptures Jesus was asked a political question. 1. Many ppl go to church and do not pay any money as offering, even so now dat churches use envelopes. Na to jst drop ur envelope, empty or not.
2. Church is not a place for discrimination. It is where salvation is preached even to the wayward and infidels. So u shud not expect that ANYONE be barred from service.
3. The fact that Jesus ate with and moved with tax collectors and sinners suggests that d gospel is for everyone. U guys shud therefore stop saying pastors allow politicians in church because of dr money.

I doubt this was written by a serving officer in the capacity he mentions for the simple reason that it is short on details. Just as a matter of fact. One example. The infantry soldier regards his weapon in combat as his soul. Why can't this person be specific as to the inferiority or indequacy of the weapon systems provided viz the insurgents and its direct influence in the theatre or specific engagements.

It is not unusual for battlefield feedback to get through to the QM and adjustments can be made but these have to be specific. Are their AK's jamming in the dust, are the magazines inadequate. How many crates of 7.62 does each section carry. Transport, food, water, flak jackets. These are the things a typical soldier is concerned about. A typical soldier will not know the intricacies of command and control and he is not interested.

I feel the problems depicted occur in the offices not on the field. The ultimate impact may be felt there but I can wager that there are power struggles going on within mid to upper level command and control, that is responsible for this. The broad amount of information collated in this report is just beyond that of a typical serving soldier in the theatre and its lack of detail speaks of something more akin to politics rather than operational.
