Oga think up! Every land has its treasure and sensible Nigerians have been able to see beyond their nose. What are the Japanise and the koreans trooping in to get in Nigeria. Those guys are ready to pay 10K US dollars (N1.9 million) for just one year stay. Not house rent o! There is money in Angola for smart guys
If they are so smart why are they 'languishing' and coming here to lament. Smart indeed.

Lazy bones. Who is the 'we'. Just say 'I'. The internet is just a tool like your grandma's hoe or cutlass in the village. It can either be used to till the land of global commerce or as an ornament to sloth and poverty. The stat also shows there are more Nigerians than most willing to farm while others wait for manna from government their god. Mister, the river of poverty has two sources: Ignorance and laziness. Your grandma cannot eat her implements but she should use them to eat.

But I think the emphasis should be on trying to open up the satellite towns, like he said. The rail project should not be limited to the city proper but should expand to the satellite areas (Karu, Nyanya, Mararaba and co). I also believe the people of the FCT should be allowed to elect a mayor. Let them have someone who is directly accountable to them rather than reporting to the president.
Good idea. The FCT should start the transition from being a project to a city. Its needs an independent government and this grow organically. Then the needs ad aspirations of the people will be truly me. Right now its just the playground for the elites who own and control everything including the lifespan of the common man. Pity.

Poverty is a product of the government to keep the masses at bay so that the masses can always rely on them for crumbs of bread and by so doing, its officials retain power by dictating to the masses what to do whenever they come for the regular bread crumbs.

Poverty is a weapon, probably more deadly than guns.

I once read somewhere that the richest 1,000 people in the world control 90% of the earth's resources, and the estimated seven billion that are remaining are fighting over the 10% leftover.

Dont gt it twisted o. . . .When i tell people that ALHAJI DANGOTE is so rich in AFRICA is because the Nigerian trading laws favor him soo much. if he were to be in korea or the US, he would be rich, but not as this, cos
(1)Tax would ruin him
(2)Trading laws wouldn't be centralised on him.
Though,i'm an under graduate, and a late teen, but am planning to buy shares. it would be dangote shares cos he rules trade in Nigeria. The govt. mk laws that favours him,he supports them. . .i don't wanna say this,bt i think DANGOTE IS BENEFITING SOMETHING FROM THIS GOVT. WE ALL KNOW THAT THIS GOVT. IS CORRUPT. . YEA,FOR THIS,DANGOTE IS SOILING HIS REPUTITION.@ others, they're investing their money.by 2017,1 billion=15billion.
The history of American billionaires like the Rockefellers, early European and Asian millionaires was similar to what we have now. They all enjoyed huge government patronage and concessions. That is how various industrial revolutions emerged. Everyone knows that Europe was built on rich pickings of colonal dominance. In China today the government does a lot of protection, patronage and comfortable tax regimes for local industry enabling them to compete on a global stage. It is when there is an establishment and expansion of industry with the attendant multiplicity of 'billionaires' that tax regimes become serious and anti-trust measures kick in to create a level playing field. Right now Nigeria is in the 'sowing' stage of industry. In decades to come there will be enough 'players' to set the ground rules and level playing field and the society via government will begin to 'reap' from job creation and harsher tax regimes.

We are not at evolutionary par with these countries you mention.

Hopefully oil will be long gone by then. It is terribly dibilitating to development. I personally believe if there was no oil Nigeria with its population and large pool of talents will have produced far more legit dollar billionaires by now because the government will 'need' the to sustain the industries that create jobs and pay taxes. And much as we all hate white collar fat cats, the nation must raise them to survive and thrive.

Bottomline

No one seems in a hurry to end dis mess.. D president, d opposition, d army, dss et al dey dont seem to b in a hurry and d question is
WHYhuhhuhhuh??
Because it is anchored on religion and so the authorities are doing what australian firefighters call, controlled burning. Most parts of the north is a religious tinder box. If the fuel there is not consumed under supervision but is allowed to burn out of control, by now all the north will be fighting for the sect.

In this type of war there will be casualties. People simply cannot expect to sleep with two eyes closed when the status of your neighbour is indeterminate. The peoples of this area must rise to the occasion and be the first line of defence. If you Mr. Citizen are not fighting there right now then you will in all likelyhood lose your life.

But the truth is we hv been deceived that there is a state of emergency in the states, meanwhile the president has left the pple to die, inorder to ensure elections don't hold there. If u knw what really a state of emergency is, u will knw there is a p somewhere.

Also our soldiers are being given old guns to fight boko guys that hv as a minimum gun std Ak47, while their Generals are stealing our money.
Be specific about what kinds of 'old guns' our troops are using versus the AK-47's of Bokoharam. Anyway it is not called an insurgency (assymetric warfare) for nothing. It is extremely difficult to fight a force of men of unknown origin, unknown location and indeterminate targets and tactics without significant collateral damage.

And people will say that corruption is the biggest problem in Nigeria. This further proves that the present structure we operate under is fundamentally flawed and is the one and only problem we have.

What the northern leader is essentially doing is soliciting a bribe from Jonathan to remain on his side using ethnicity as blackmail. What sort of warped system is that. Similarly Buhari will have to make huge 'concessions' to the Amaechi led south-south either as payment for 'services rendered' or for 'lunch to be ordered'.

This is how corruption starts. We simply cannot develop with this system we operate. We must restructure.

My guy, no need to get confrontational.
What I just stated is a glaring fact. Nigeria is a highly tribalistic country, and the questions won't be based on whose duty it is to safeguard the country from attackers, but on "What tribe are those attackers from?"

Sentiments are really high in the Middle Belt right now, and I don't see those people ever wanting anything to do with Fulanis for now.

Buhari's previous statements on the killing of Boko Haram operatives being "genocide" will still come back to seriously haunt him on February.

Majority of the voters in the Middle-Belt won't be the pseudo-intellectuals voting on internet polls, but will be the many farmers whose houses and farms these Fulani cattle herders raze everyday.

This is a statement of fact. Buhari is finished in the Middle Belt.
Tribalism will come into play.
When I say good roads and steady power is not what most people really want and does not win elections at this stage of our democracy. Now the confessions are coming. I repeat again. The structure of this country is the number one, king-kong of a problem that no one can admit let alone touch.

What I expected we should discuss is about State LGAs and Private sector railway systems

How do we think FG can do everything

It is time we should hand over this responsibility to States LGAs and the private sector.
Exactly. We should be talking about developments not partisan mudslinging. Someone was speaking about the overcrowded Abule-Egba/Agege train. For goodness that is local transport which state and councils should develop. I have not seen a single state government built mass transit infrastructure in Nigeria.

Will you now say leadership is the problem in Nigeria? Is the man a leader, no, just a contestant. It is the people, the followers, the electorate that will make him a leader and then turn round to blame leadership tomorrow. Same way they clamour, fight and die for GEJ and GMB without an inkling of their true persons, their intentions, their capabilities and the likely outcomes of the choices they make. We the people are ultimately responsible for the state of Nigeria so far and will determine the course of its future. We have no one to blame but ourselves for the choices we make.

No sir. There is hardly a Shagari era weapon system in the Nigerian armed forces today. The standard weapon of the infantry man then was the german Heckler & Kock G3 rifle. It was replaced with the Belgian FN FAL in the early nineties. Then came the Russian Kalashinokov's of which we are currently using the second (Nigeria) generation of I'm not mistaken. The other arms are the same so are airforce and naval weapon systems. Very few Shagari era planes and ships survive.

So that the corrupt Generals can kill the silent ones and loot the money meant for arms?
They way some of you people talk is just baffling. It is as if every soldier from the rank of Brigadier is given twenty naira to go to Oshodi market to buy arms. I don't want to disclose the purchase chain but I can assure you Army Ordnance, the arm responsible for maintaining stocks has the fewest number of generals in the army and none of them handles cash to purchase arms. You can say there is stealing at local levels of pay related incentives, of ghost soldiers, of feeding budgets and other sundry costs and yes deploying equipment had been a challenge but it is highly unlikely the army is short of personnel arms because a certain general here or there is stealing money meant for their purchase. This is just laughable.
