Has little to do with the way a peoples is ruled. More to do with the way the people rule. No matter the kind of software in a system, if the hardware is not structured to oerform the function, its a total waste of time. A people that cannot recognise where lies the root of its problems cannot possiblly deploy its goverment to tackle it. We often react to the symptoms - corruption, nepotism, religious fanatism, etc but how do these things invade and dominate our landscape and wreck such devastation. The answer to me is simple. Like in medicine an infection will take root where: There is an opening, There is a fertile host and, There is no resistance. In summary the sick man has faulty constituency. His body and his life needs overhauling if not there will be an endless cycle of infection and treatment untill final unredeemable failure. Just one example. The primary defence of a country are its people. The people should have a common objective, a common identity no matter how diverse the society is. The people should be structured, hard-wired to certain nationalistic tendencies. But what do we have in Nigeria. We have nothing that unites us except, perhaps football for 90 minutes. Yet people will cross our borders without a simple response simply because they perhaps share religion or ethnicity or history or culture or whatever. No type of government democratic, autocratic, even military will be able to secure the integrity of a country if the peoples are constituent this way. To maintain societal rigidity, it has to be restructured. Sometimes by adding elements for instance adding water to powdered cement to turn it into a solid or by intricate weaving that makes weak silk threads into a durable fabric. No government can legislate this. It is a choice the peoples. A free will to breakdown certain barriers and create new ways of co-existing. Then and only then will government of whatever kind be able to function effectively. A peoples is like a horse and the goverment the jockey. It takes the two to win. That's why I'm oft reluctant to blame government for all that happens in society today. There are many things that are so fundamentally wrong that can only be fundamentally resolved. An example: A Liberian came into Nigeria with Ebola. Government's fault. Yes. It then spread to Portharcourt by invitation. Who's fault - the person....peoples. |
The only way for commercial services to work in Nigeria is for the public to pay perhaps a steep price for using them. The resentment to this leads to accountability. Just like democracy. It works best when countries have no natural resources to plunder and spread laziness, dependence and a feudalistic agenda. When government depends on you to run the country via taxes it knows it has to render account and deliver services but smart governments want to spoon feed the populace to keep them in pampers, always crying but cannot even clean their butt.s while mommy plunders the family silver. So people should just shut up and order for a change in the way Nigeria is structured. Say no more allocation. No more prisoner meals. We want to pay for our dinner ourselves. We want to build our own airports and employ who we know can clean the toilets and run the conveyors not some person in Abuja deciding that for us on the basis of federal character or whatever corrupt, useless criteria. Until then stop whinning like babies and do the needful. I don't know of anything any government has built and run anywhere in Nigeria - federal, state or local government that is working or working well. Yet we insist they continue this model. Is this not madness. |
We all know governments are a reflection of society. We all know we lack a maintenance culture. We all know we lack accountability. Then why the madness of doing the same thing over and over. Yet we kicked against Bi-Courtney which built and operated the best airport terminal to date while it lasted. I don't know how you expect that government which cannot maintain an airline will maintain an airport. The aviation unions are strong and often kick against privatisation due to their greed. They are the ones to ensure the coolers work and the toilets flush. They are the ones who supervise these contractors. They are the ones to direct our venom. But they know they have willing allies in a daft public who bark up the wrong tree and won't pay for good services. Once again. GOVERNMENT HAS NO BUSINESS IN BUSINESS. Government should sell these airports and get out yesterday. The public who feel a pride of place and consider flying a status symbol for business and pleasure should be willing to pay for cool air and clean lavs. The unions cannot give that whether NUPENG, NMA, ASUU or defunct PHCN. We are too corrupt, greedy and lazy to attain and maintain minimal standards for a collective living. We love money. So privatise and make money the incentive for performance and service delivery. Go to the staff carpark of the same airport and you will see expensive SUV's or visit them when they have lunch and you will be amazed. A stark contrast from their ramshackle offices and horrible attitude. You wonder just where they offload after consuming those decadent lunches. Those smelly lavs ...that's Nigeria for you. |
If ManU fails to reach top four with these big transfers and heavy salaries total bankruptcy is certain. Anyway I'm in touch with Ed Woodward. Saipem drilling is interested. They will take Van Gaal and Rooney. Say they need new rig managers with 'outstanding drive for unparallel depths'. |
Van Gaal's sledge hammer's doing some record crushing too. First time United has surrendered a two goal lead and going unto lose in its 853 match Premiership history. Shocking. The way United is going down Otis elevators may soon buy shares. |
The problem most ladies have is balance. Trying to strike the right one. They fear one end of the pendulum and rush towards the other, living disequilibrium lives. The other is timing. Doing the right things at the right time. Most wake up to life so so late. An early heavy emphasis on the body, then some brain matter in the middle. By the time they get to character development that creates societal integration its too late and so pressure mounts. |
The only thing obvious tonight is that Liverpool won't win the Premiership. |
Really. If he does it shows democracy hasn't progressed at all. Real democracy rewards the faithful, punishes the recalcitrant and offers no second chance. |
One scandal after another. This government is determined to defeat itself at the polls. I cannot see any reason for this except to add further voice to those who feel a lot of people are profiting from this conflict. I can name at least a dozen countries that will gladly donate the kind of weapons we need to handle BH. There is no need for this. |
Fadelex: If these guys are executed there will be massive resignation in Nigeria Army. I stand to be corrected, the operation in Maiduguri is a suicide mission. The GOC cut down the 30k monthly allowance to 15k and the military authorities turned blind eyes. The GOC withdrawn air support while ground force is in place in d middle of operation and this led to death of over 100soldiers yet there wasn't any investigation. These guys use their personal money to buy uniforms, boots, camp beds, camp tents, dagger, torch light and so on. The only thing given to them is the outdated AK rifles with counted groundnuts. We all see how much govt is releasing every year yet there's nothing to show for it. For those blaming the guys, have u ever seen your colleagues killed like a chicken in an avoidable circumstances before? If no, then you have no right to judge them. I was there and know what I'm saying. The guys definitely didn't want to kill the GOC if not, his 21 gun salute would have been done by may 31st.Will you keep quiet there. What massive resignations. For what. Is this the first time soldiers have gone unkitted into campaign. 1967 civil war, 1989 Liberia, the opening phase of the Niger-Delta insurgency soldiers never had sufficient stores yet they fought bravely on. Military high command is aware of these shortcomings and is addressing them. It gives no right for any soldier to raise arms against authority. It is unacceptable. It is military law and they should face the consequences like the gallant soldiers they are. Civilians should stay out of this. They have no moral standing whatsoever to advise afterall the whole tragedy is their making. Where were the SAN's when Charles Taylor was dragging the bodies of dead Nigerian soldiers through the streets of Monrovia before tying them to telephone poles. Abeg no make me vex. I've seen enough. War is bad. Mutiny makes it worse. The Nigerian Army must keep its shape and shed its weight. |
amakajoe: It's rice naI'm often on the field. Been that way since I was a kid and I've gone through some crazy dietry phases. Believe you me you can't. Your body will reject you. Your mind will go haywire. Its not possible. I've done rice alone for three weeks. I've done garri alone for a month and a half. Had to quit due to risk of organ damage. My immune system was on the brink. The body needs a balance and no food gives you everything. I'm a witness to a couple of ultra-dietics who are dead, one I suspect of pottasium poisoning due to binging on bananas almost exclusively in an attempt to cap blood pressure. |
kilokeys: vegetable sharwama. But it fails my taste buds within a week and my diet is over. OP, There is nothing. Thank God it cannot happen. |
You can actually make a steady income punting on Arsenal's inability to keep clean sheets. As a matter of fact you'd get better odds at finding clean sheets in a w.hor.e house. |
I've out-grown a few of them that gave me a ticking. I think professor was the last and it took a tyranical professor to erase any doubt. |
Omooba77: We have a depleted team tomorrow with Debuchy and Giroud out..Abeg Giroud absence is no depletion. It is the reason Arsenal has a better attacking balance today. |
nwaka80: aww such a touching story. It was really a narrow escape, d importance of faith in our lives cnt really be over emphasized. Wia odas trod nd fell we will tread nd scale truBut with the coalition of atheists listen. Even the blind who can't see the sun can feel its warmth. She cleared out her mind of wrong thoughts, thoughts of decay and death and filled it with thoughts of life, prosperous thoughts that only come via the Word of God and so she lived, simple. |
Ishilove: I couldn't help but chuckle at this post. It's funny, but disheartening.Morning dear. Yeah, its amazing how something that happened so far and remotely away could have such devastating consequences on random people who knew nothing of it and didn't deserve its trauma. This world and we who live in it are far, far more vulnerable than we think. No one can hide from what may be brewing somewhere in the plains of Kansas, the jungles of Amazonia or the mountains of inner Mongolia. Our life is like a mist. |
Meanwhile as we heave a collective sigh of relief and survey the carnage, somewhere in a forest 3000 miles away a hunter relentlessly pursues a wounded chimpanzee for dinner today....tomorrow. Only if he knew.... |
Nice...but what is thing about humans, maybe Nigerians and denial, then hide and seek. This 'image' thing. She almost killed her parents. She knew she had it but even after symptons initially refused to 'come to terms'. The 'retreat' to her family home to me is a covert 'run away to avoid attention, trace and contact thingy'. The chap that fled Lagos to Portharcourt. The lady that fled Portharcourt to Aba. Well congrats to all health workers from the terrified ambulance drivers to the dedication and bravery of the foreign doctors, WHO, Lagos State Government and the other individuals involved. You did a great job in making sure this tragedy was contained. |
Every armed attack is now Boko Haram. Okene Lokoja is a hotspot for highway banditry and the confrontation must have been accidental. The police should step up their game. |
Controversy: Double whala….. the GOC left unhurt,,,, yet they were convict to death. I wish they could have killed the GOC and it would server as deterrent to those oga at the top. It is easier to arrange and convict them, but it is difficult for to find lasting solutions to the reason for their agitations. That is your opinion. The judgement is based on military doctrine where discipline comes standard top down considering not tribe, creed, faith or background. Your attempt at viewing it thorough socio-political lenses is wrong. The military will always fight to maintain its fabric as the most effective institution in Nigeria which civilians should try and emulate. The failings that led to this are typical when the military interfaces with the more disorganised, indiscipline, corrupt civilian political class. That's why we advocate a neutral zone between the military and civilians, an independent military drawing a front line charge from the treasury. When the likes of MKO Abiola began to sit down to meet with Gen Murtala the rest was history. Please let us leave the military to maintain its structure. I say again they are the last hope, the last wall between you and a certain refugee status. BH has no respect for democracy. |
gratiaeo: I wonder what prompted them to attacked their GOC, despite the fact that they know they will be facing death penalties for Mutiny. The Nigerian Army should addressed the motive behind these soldiers action to thwart the reoccurrence of such action.Who told you that. |
Here we go again. The only problem money solves is more money. Its the structure stupid....sorry Bill. |
Cypost: Omo leave dt ya talk and be objective. TBJ is being respected by the state and govnor due to the nature of his vocation, his followership and his standing in society If na ordinary person get that property dt hv killed 44 so far. The person with his team of engineers go don take off or be cooling off in one dungeon by now. But TBJ still get mouth. Remember this is a crime, govt will normally seize property and prosecute the culprits. It is a test of institutions once again after the Oyedepo 'witch' saga. Let's see what we prioritize, Ceasar or 'God'. The Bible is clear, Christians are subject to authority, churches included and so far it doesn't look good for Synagogue. They may have broken certain edicts here. |
The premises should even be sealed up. I can't imagine any reasonable activity going on in that church location for a while to come. |
edogirl2: Oga Oronsaye is from Edo State. The man is a disgrace if these allegations are true. That is democracy. If he wins so be it. Democracy is a game of numbers and as I always say if others don't share your ideals they won't vote the way you do. There are so many disconnected from government that these reports won't mean anything to. They have not benefited anything so they don't feel they are losing anything so they will vote on a whim. Is this not why I advocate for power and relevance to circulate through all Nigerians so they will have a stake, a sense of belonging. But many say no. If people don't have or can never have political influence and don't feel government impact at all they can never make sound judgement at the polls. We are trying to draw from an empty account. Change the structure first, say no to power hegemony or corruption remains forever. |
MissMeiya: Thanks for speaking for us, but we're very pleased with the Democrats. Our deficit has been lightened by billions of dollars and the job market has surged. The economy is the best it has been in years. You don't have a clue what you're taking about. The Democrats won't win. |
Amanwulu1: I'd prefer it crashed to d BH capturing it, tho' I never really feared dat it was captured as in being in d hand of BH.But what will have made you believe that a flying jet can be captured. How do you capture an aircraft in flight. The locals also reported that it flew so low they could make out the 'door'. An alpha jet has no door. I suppose they mean canopy because the cockpit canopy is the object of intuitive attraction because the airmen are right there. If the pilots were visible through the canopy then the jet was within a thousand feet of the ground. That in a hilly area like Adamawa means one thing, crash. |
berem: ....And it has to be the pictures of foreigners and animals? Apart from Mike Ezuruonye who's a nigerian,no other nigerian pictures?Maybe Nigerian men don't even know they have kids at home. Money, money, money. PDP, APC, TAN and of course....concubanos. |
Reference: I passed by what was TAC Makurdi a few weeks ago on my way to Abuja by road. I looked across the field. The tarmac was eerily quiet. The mobile radar unit discrepit. The famous hangar that held the pre-flight and weaponizing of the Jaguars as they emerged from their underground bunkers looked abandoned. So different from my last visit there. Where are all our strike aircraft. Where are all our ground attack aircraft. Where are our ace pilots reknowned as the best in Africa. Remember Ben Ekele. The best of the best. How did he end. Found guilty of treason and executed. That is the story of our armed forces. A tragedy. For him to stay in power the armed forces lost many good men, executed, assasinated, retired, dismissed and sent to the grave yard called Liberia with their 'bare chests'. Most of the core that will have made the soldier's soldier he hounded and denied automatic entry into NDA. Those who know, know what I mean. We know what has happened. |
Reference: So which wars have we organised for the Nigerian Army since the 67 civil war to make them combat sharp. The Army has spent the last 50 but 15 years in politics. That is 50 years of dis-investment and decay. Some didn't even want the military to have guns now we want them to go from cold start to full tilt in a heart beat. Pally it won't happen. Give them credit for what they offer. They are the only ones standing between you and a certain refugee status.I passed by what was TAC Makurdi a few weeks ago on my way to Abuja by road.
