The fact is NATO is currently expanding Russia...
A military alliance of Russia, China and Iran will be the greatest military mistake NATO will ever make...

Main reason you see US general and top commanders warning Biden not allow such happen... That's also why you see president/prime minister of NATO countries going to China to persuade XI against such.
A little too late for that. China is no little kid. They suffered before the hands and America and her allies hence NATO. For a Chinese to school outside China, such ward needs to go above and beyond to prove his or her fund. Yet same is not applicable to international students in China. That alone will deter any thing they've gone to China to do. In fact, I feel they know power is about to change hands, and as a lioness they are, they want to bear pups for the new alpha male that will lead the pride.

pansophist:
Smart guy. Yes, you are right, Ukraine is the biggest loser in this whole game, and the unfortunate one at that. For example, the UK on 31st Dec 2006 made its last payment of about $83m (£45.5m) of war loans from the US during the second world war, 71 years after ww2 ended. So while it is in the interest of the US to defeat the axis powers, they still made sure they got a benefit from it by indebting the UK. No free meal.

Also, the soviet union (Russia) repaid its last loan to the US in 2006. The end of ww2 made the US the uncontested champion, but instead, to lead the world with virtue, it instead, choose to be a hegemon. By giving European countries aid to rebuild after ww2 under the Marshall Plan, they stole their sovereignty and occupied their country militarily (same as Japan), but fool the world by calling it a military alliance.

Anyways I went too far, but I was just trying to underpin your argument from a legal perspective that Ukraine is already lost. It lost its sovereignty after the coup in 2014 and effectively became a US-occupied territory. And while Ukraine was the poorest country in Europe (after Moldova), the US has made it poorer than Burundi now, due to the loans it won't even be able to pay back. I am not even referring to the destruction of the country and loss of population, and all the freebies Russia gave to it before the war.

Ukraine could have just been neutral, and got the best of both worlds, from the west (EU, US), from the east (Russia, China), and still retain its independence, just like Serbia. But like the old saying, decades of peace breed weak men that see the world from rainbow colors and wokism, instead of the jungle that it is, and play the jungle game very well. It is sad.

I was checking the conditions attached to all the loans given to Ukraine, and I saw that all the loans are subjected to the ´´Ukraine democracy defense lead-lease act of 2022´´. Section 2(a)(3) states: Any loan or lease of defense articles to the government of Ukraine under paragraph (1) shall be subject to all applicable laws concerning the return of and reimbursement and repayment for defense articles loan or leased to foreign governments.

In other words, the aids are not free. The US is a capitalist country, and if it cants rescue millions of homeless Americans, bail out its student who is indebted to the neck with student loan debt, their deplorable healthcare system and infrastructure, or their eye-choking national debt, who in his right mind will think it gives a shit about Ukraine? Ukraine is just a ram to weaken Russia and a stupid ram at that. Elensky, God will punish you. He has made my ex-Ukrainian sweetheart a refugee in Germany. grin
The territory Ukraine lost wouldn't be recovered. They will seek loan to rebuild the destroyed structures in the remaining part. Who will have ffer them the loan? UK, France or perhaps USA? They're gone. They could have remained neutral and enjoyed the best of both worlds just like Serbia. Elensky na compound fool walahi.

Their problem is multifaceted. Women want the man to remain the major provider but simultaneously want equality in the household. The cost of housing is another issue. The way people lament about housing in Canada is frightening to me. It is one of the purported reasons Japan has a higher birth rate than her East Asian neighbours or cultural sibling like Singapore. https://www.economist.com/asia/2022/05/19/asias-advanced-economies-now-have-lower-birth-rates-than-japan Women sef don realise say they can live independently without a man. The cost of raising children is very high, and for most people, they marry because of children. So, it is part of the reason birth rates in developed countries are very low. East Asian own is extremely low compared to the west because they don't have children out of wedlock. Few marry without having children, unlike in the west. I have asked some of them questions about childbearing. The responses are: postponed marriage till further notice or just a child or no children at all.

https://asia.nikkei.com/Spotlight/Society/One-in-four-30-somethings-unwilling-to-marry-in-Japan-survey

In summary, children don't have immediate usefulness in a society with political stability, longevity, high educational attainment and no arranged marriage. Women, as a result of being educated, have gotten choosier and, in a wealthy society, prefer being on their own.

You have a point though but with the downturn in economy of Nigeria coupled with very hypergamic nature of our women, marriage isn't quite easy to sustain as before.

Young men from poorer and middle class backgrounds have to think thrice before going into marriage. And for those into it already, the above conditions makes it worse.

You can see different threads littered in the romance and family section how women harping on the fact that a man must carry their responsibilities in an economic where we have hyper inflation, unemployment/underemployment, stagnant salaries etc

So I can understand some of them when they complain.

Gerrard59: your input is needed on this.
Even in Western nations with very good economy and enabling environment for financial growth plus government subsidy in a lot of things, yet marriage waning. I will tell, marriage has outlived it's purpose to an extent and although I do not advocate for it, I will only endulge in it if I'm getting something as good as a passport from it or inheritance like house or money.

ozalogbo:
I am the first child of my mother, and I have two younger male siblings. I am doing well financially. My wife is the last of four children in her family. My dad died when I was still in the university, and this affected my mum.

However, as she aged, her health waned. She was a retired teacher. My brothers are not in the country. Both of them are in Europe. I wanted to have my mother stay with me in her later years because of her health and loneliness but my wife did not want it.

Whenever she was ill and I brought her home to be with us, my wife was usually hostile, especially if my mum had stayed beyond a week. She did not hid her disapproval, and this caused problems in the marriage. People advised that I should send my mum away and pay someone to live with her and take care of her. They said that marriage was between a man and his wife, not between a man, his wife, and his mother. I did and peace returned. Eventually my mum passed on after a few years.

Along the line, my father in law also died. And down the line, my mother in law's health began to deteriorate. We live in the same town. Among my wife's siblings she is the only one doing quite well. Now there are suggestions that the mother should come and live with us so that my wife can give her proper care. I believe that her living with us and seeing her grandchildren will help her. And indeed i have no problem accepting her, but when i remember the treatment my wife gave to my mum, there is a strong revulsion, in fact, anger in me. I shared with a friend, and he advised i forgive my wife, but the revulsion is so strong that i would feel cheated if i agreed.

What do you guys think. She reminded me then that marriage was between a man and his wife only. Shouldn't this also apply to my wife now?
You would be the biggest fool if you agree. I mean, remind her of your mum and ban your MIL from visiting sef. She can't eat her cake and have it.

More excerpts from Zelensky's Associated Press interview , which the president gave on the Sumy-Kyiv train:

1. If Ukraine does not win the protracted battle at Bakhmut, Russia may begin to seek international support for "a deal that may require Ukraine to make unacceptable compromises."

If Bakhmut falls, Putin "will sell this victory to the West, to his society, to China, to Iran," Zelensky said.

The President said that in the event of the defeat of Ukraine in Bakhmut, pressure on Kyiv will begin - both from the international community and within the country.

"Our society will feel tired. Our society will push me to compromise with them," Zelensky added.

2. If the US stops helping Ukraine, it will not win.

Zelensky, according to AP, fears that political changes in Washington could affect the war.

"The United States really understands that if they stop helping us, we will not win," the president said
If US continues to help, it will only delay the inevitable.
