Scenario below

Assuming you came on Tier 2 Visa and the date on your visa vignette from Nigeria is 1st November 2022 you can apply 28days before 1st November 2027 (which is 5yrs after) I.e 3rd of October 2027.
Use the calculator link below or excel for your deduction to be accurate and in the case of 10 yrs route

https://www.timeanddate.com/date/dateadded.html?d1=13&m1=12&y1=2022&type=sub&ay=&am=&aw=&ad=28&rec=

Hope it's clear and I haven't confused you further grin. You cal also find more information on gov.uk with explanation on date and absences
I was on a student visa first before changing it to a tier2. I'd start counting from the date I got my tier2 right? Not otherwise.

ILR update

5years don waka, we still dey Carry go oo grin grin....... Time really does fly.
Alhamdulillah for his mercies. Just like yesterday we came and now due and successfully applied for ILR.

Like everyone on the Tier 2/Skilled worker route knows, once you have stayed for 5yrs in the country you are eligible to apply for ILR. The application should be successful, all things being equal.

Another beneficial note some may not know is you are eligible to apply 28days before your first issued visa and any day between that and when you eventually got into the UK is deemed as "absence".
Please help me understand the bolded. Justwise et al

I have said this so many times.

Only cowards hide using a proxy war to fight its enemy. What is the essence of the billions of dollars of military equipment that US and its allies are afraid to allow ukraine fire them into Russia's territory?

Cowards can only keep arming ukraine in a clout-chasing show of force and support. The day Ukraine will mistaknely fire any rocket into Mother Russia territory. That will be the end of them(Ukraine) , the US, NATO in general and its puppets called allies.

It doesnt matter whatever you do in life. But always remember and have it at the back of your mind; never to poke the bear.

You see unlike you, I don't speak from my arse, but with verifiable facts that I have independently researched on my own. Below is a link from RAND ( a think tank organization for the US armed forces), and they concluded that a war with China would be devastating and nothing the US has ever seen.

https://www.rand.org/content/dam/rand/pubs/research_reports/RR1100/RR1140/RAND_RR1140.pdf

You can also read reports from ''US army war college'', and they arrive at the same conclusion. If you do not understand such diplomatic and euphemistic wordings, it simply means China will win. Because China does not have a propaganda loudspeaker (mainstream media) doesn't mean they are weak, it is only an empty barrel that makes the loudest noise.

Firstly, China will never be on the offensive, so the US will have to bring the war to the Chinese border, where they have a massive advantage. Secondly, China has more numbers than the US, China is close to 1.5B people, and the US is just 300M. So the question you should be asking yourself is where will the US land and fight China? in the high sea, then Chinese missiles will clear them off.

Even if they go nuclear, maybe half of China will be wiped out, but you probably do not know that China has massive underground cities to house hundreds of millions of its citizens. So while China will retaliate, how will the US survive it? The US does not have underground cities. Also in war, industries are the most important thing. To be able to reproduce tanks, missiles, and military equipment. And guess what, China has a ''complete industrial infrastructure'', so they can outproduce any country on earth.

Take covid, for example, China produced 350B masks, that's about 53 masks per person globally, imagine such a response rate. Are these the people you think the US will defeat in a war? A country that defeated the US in the Korean war, in a time when they just came out of a civil war, have no navy, airforce, proper clothing, just courage? They defeated the US in a time Nigeria was heaven, and you want to try them now when they are too strong, too wealthy, and have advanced modern weapons including nuclear weapons?

If the US can defeat them, they would have done it long ago. Because in war, it is a fatal mistake to give your enemy time to become stronger and difficult to defeat. You kill them while they are young. I know it is a tough pill to swallow ye western sheep, but there is a new sheriff in town, and there is nothing the west can do about it. They lost, it is as simple as that.
China survived with all the sanctions. Iran is still surviving with the sanctions. Russia does not look like a country with sanction. USA is all talks joor when it comes to its equal.

From roughly 200 B.C.E. to 1850 C.E., China was the richest civilization (or country in present times) on earth. I intentionally choose to paste a western source from the university of Columbia, US, so you should know that I am not making it up. I won't be surprised if you didn't read it and help your brainwashing.

http://afe.easia.columbia.edu/main_pop/kpct/kp_1450-1750.htm

China lost its glory when your democratic masters invaded, killed, destroyed, and colonized China for a century. This is known as the ''century of humiliation) or 百年国耻 in Chinese. Right now, China has returned to its rightful place. So the wealthy China of today is not an exception, it is the norm since documented human records. China is so wealthy, that they created the ''wall of China'' to keep others out, unlike the west that sailed globally to enslave, kill, colonize and steal from others.

WTO, UN, ICC, Interpol, etc are all arms of western imperialism. It's like saying a farmer that has one million cows is not a wealthy man, because he doesn't have dollars. Your thinking is very western, controlled, and thus, limited in the scope of reasoning. Russia is banned from the swift, no more earnings in dollars, does it mean Nigeria is richer than Russia now? Your thinking is like that of a conquered man, you judge your worth through the eyes of the dominant system.

If China is not a threat and is irrelevant, then why is the US-led west doing its best to instigate a war with Taiwan to slow China's growth? it should be the opposite right? and by GDP, a proper measurement of a wealthy country is PPP, I am sure you do not even know the difference. Also, the US GDP is mostly amplified by financial speculations, unlike China whose GDP is based on industries, and real products, hence, they are the global factory and have over 150 countries have them (China) as their main trading partner. What does that tell you?

Why are all countries right now, moving towards China's sphere of influence? A few days ago, the Saudis just signed at least 30 different deals with the Chinese and accepted to only trade their oil with China in yuan, a fatal blow to the US empire. This was what Gadaffi and Hussein did, and was killed and destroyed. Whether you like it or not, evil doesn't last. Like Babylon and other evil empires, they will fade off.

Love the US all you want, but call a spade a spade. I am writing this not because I hate the west, I live in the west myself, but the truth should be the truth whether we like it or not. If you blindly support western evils because you like them, then you are not different from the herdsmen who blow up their country men.
Nwanne, make hire mic? Or I should be coming and going?

Truth really hurts, but the best thing about it is no matter how people try to run from it, it will still be around them. Thank you for educating me and them once more.

Truth is, you lack common sense.

I left Nigeria for Poland last 2 years with my wife immediately we got married and it was one of the best decisions we made. In so many ways, Poland is less better than Canada

Some of you are so fortunate that you complain about what others pray for. Remember someone is praying to have 1/10 of what you have right now.

You probably have the means to live your best life in Nigeria and find living in Canada hell.

I was earning 82K in Abuja after deduction, how would anyone survive on that with a wife and incoming babies?

A month after arriving in Poland I got a work from home job, that catered for me and my wife all through the pandemic and because I pay tax, my wife was listed under me as a dependent and all antenatal visits were free, tests conducted was free, delivery of the baby was also free including anaesthesia that was given when she went into labour all free. Infact she got the best care, way better than the best in Nigeria.

After delivery a Midwife called to inform us that she will be responsible for my wife's care till 6 months after delivery. For those 6 months, she visited the house every 2 weeks to check up on my wife and the baby and if she detected any issue, we were given referrals to consult a pediatrician or Gynaecologist. Till today, we don't pay for Healthcare except maybe one or two drugs that we maybe required to get on our own.

Aside the Healthcare which is better than the best we have in Nigeria, the government pays us an equivalent of 70K naira monthly to take care of our baby till he is 18 years and at the end of the year, we still file for tax refunds.

Our baby is currently enrolled in a daycare that is free of charge and we leave him there from 7AM-4PM so we can have some time to work and rest when need be.

Please please please, it is rosy for you does not mean it is like that for everyone. We are happy we moved.
That guy has an issue.
