He personally saw that kids were killed and died of starvation during the war. |
dayokanu:I dnt care if He's alive. He's just as worthless like the rest of you. Ojukwu will remain the hero He was when He was alive. Ojukwu's death is been reported worldwide as a hero of his people. So your comment whatsoever doesnt count except for yourself. |
sheyguy:I got no time. You just too daft. |
dayokanu:Where is he now? Let him come out now. Sorry he was so used and dumped like a LovePeddler. I wouldnt want to think other Yorubas are so silly like you. People stop saying trash about other ethnic group because of some misguided. Stop this nonsense. |
dayokanu:You are an hediiot. You are so worthless! You fool. |
I wonder why people will say Gowon released Awolowo. so many of them are giving false information. If Ojukwu had wanted to do anything to Awolowo, He would have done it long time ago without asking any f0rking questions. The young men in military in the 60s liked Awolowo so they planned making him the president, which I think was a bad idea. bashr8: |
sheyguy:You come across as a top-notched slowpoke. Where were your parents when the northern madness in 1940s. I ask again where was your father. |

Ojukwu Lived A Most Fulfilled Life – Jonathan! Abuja – President Goodluck Jonathan has received with much sadness and “a deep feeling of great national loss’’ news of the passing away of Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu in the United Kingdom. A statement issued by his spokesman, Reuben Abati, in Abuja on Saturday said President Jonathan joined Chief Ojukwu’s family, the government and people of his home state, Anambra, the entire Igbo people of Nigeria and his friends, associates and followers across the country in mourning him. The president urged them to be comforted by the knowledge that “Chief Ojukwu lived a most fulfilled life, and has in passing on, left behind a record of very notable contributions to the evolution of modern Nigeria which will assure his place in the history of the country.’’ The statement said Jonathan believed that late Chief Ojukwu’s immense love for his people, justice, equity and fairness forced him into the leading role he played in the Nigerian civil war. He commended the departed’s commitment to reconciliation and the full reintegration of his people into a united and progressive Nigeria in the aftermath of the war. These, qualities, he said, would ensure that he was remembered forever as one of the great personalities of his time who stood out easily as a brave, courageous, fearless, erudite and charismatic leader. The president called on Chief Ojukwu’s family, his associates and followers to make his rites of passage a celebration of his most worthy and memorable life spent in the service of his people and of the nation. He prayed that God would grant Chief Ojukwu’s soul eternal rest from his earthly labours. (NAN) http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/11/ojukwu-lived-a-most-fulfilled-life-jonathan/ |
The only reason any of us are alive today is because we have our rifles,” Ojukwu told journalists in 1968. “Otherwise the massacre would be complete. It would be suicidal for us to lay down our arms at this stage.” |

South Korean Company, Daewoo engineering and Construction has been awarded a $ 716 Million contract to build a thermal power plant in Nigeria. The contract was awarded by French Oil major Total. Total also recently awarded a French construction company Effiage a $ 424 Million contract to build a metallic oil rig. The French company appears to be going on a strategic spending spree in order to consolidate on its investments in the upstream sector after recently discovering estimated at 85,000 barrels per day in its oil mining lease 102. According to Wikipedia.com, a thermal power station is a power plant in which the prime mover is steam driven. Water is heated, turns into steam and spins a steam turbine which drives an electrical generator. Daewoo Engineering and Construction is no stranger to Nigerian contracts, in February the company won a $ 250 Million contract to build a gas processing facility. That contract was awarded by Shell Petroleum Development Company. http://tekedia.com/30209/daewoo-engineering-awarded-716-million-thermal-power-plant-contract/ |

Lagos – Prominent Igbo leaders, including Chief Jim Nwobodo, Chief Mike Okiro, Chief Maxi Okwu and Dr Orji Kalu on Saturday described the death of Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu as the “ fall of an Iroko tree’’. In a telephone interview Sen. Nwobodo, a former governor of old Anambra and ex-minister of sports said: “A great Iroko has fallen’’. “The Igbos have lost an Iroko tree. Ojukwu’s death is a loss to Nigeria and to Ndigbo.’’ Nwobodo said that the death came as a shock, because in spite of his illness, one expected that he would have recovered. He prayed to God to give the family and Ndi Igbo the fortitude to bear the loss. In his reaction, Chief Maxi Okwu, the presidential candidate of the Citizens Popular Party in 2007, said: “Like a comet that streaks through the sky”, Ikemba came and blazed the trail for justice, equality and emancipation. “Okeosisi Adago, the great Iroko has fallen.” Okwu lamented that there would not be another person like the Ikemba, who staked all he had including his life for the Igbos. “I served as a boy-soldier in the Biafran Army. Ikemba was a Peoples General who led from the front and the rear.” Also speaking, Chief Mike Okiro, a former Inspector General of Police, described Ojukwu’s death as a great loss to the Igbos. “Ojukwu was a symbol of Igboland and a symbol of struggle against marginalisation’’ Okiro said in a telephone interview. In his reaction, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, the former governor of Abia, said that “Ojukwu’s death extinguishes a great light for the Igbos.’’ Kalu, who spoke through his Director of Media, Mr Emeka Obasi, said that Ojukwu’s death was a very sad moment for Nigeria. “Ojukwu was born a Nigerian, he died a Nigerian and the Igbos would never forget his contributions to their well- being”. Alhaji Fuad Adeyemi, Chief Imam, Al-Habibiyyah Mosque, Abuja, described as shocking the death of ex-Biafran warlord, Chief Chukwuemeka Ojukwu. Adeyemi on Saturdayd said that his death should serve as a lesson to Nigerians, especially the leaders. The Imam described Ojukwu as a hero who contributed to the development of the nation notwithstanding some of his flaws. “This is a very shocking development and this shows that God can take our lives at any time he desires. Ojukwu was a hero who contributed to national development not withstanding some of his flaws,” he said. He urged Nigerian leaders to use his death to re dedicate themselves to peace and national development. He said this was very instructive at a time like this when Nigerians are craving for peace and development. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/11/the-igbos-have-lost-an-iroko-tree-say-nwobodo-okiro-others/ |

Members of the Jama'atul Ahlil Sunna lidawati wal Jihad, otherwise known as Boko Haram, warned that it would, in a few days, embark on massive bombings of political party offices across the country to correct the impression that they are agents of politicians, even as they warned ordinary civilians who do not have anything to do with politics to stay away. The sect also stated that President Goodluck Jonathan, Senate President David Mark, Prof. Jerry Gana and ex-Governor Ali Modu Sheriff are on their hit list, and that it would soon attack them. The sect has also denied having any relationship with Senator Muhammed Ali Ndume currently in the custody of the State Security Service (SSS) over alleged involvement in its activities. It added the convicted ex-spokesman, Ali Sanda who indicted the group was not their member but an agent to the SSS. The sect, which spoke to journalists in a teleconference in Maiduguri, through the deputy spokesman to Abu Zaid, Abul Qaqa, also distanced itself from the claims of the Borno State PDP chairman, Alhaji Baba Basharu. Basharu was said to have alleged that Boko Haram members were ex-thugs of former Governor Sheriff until they fell out in 2009. But the sect warned the chairman to watch his back henceforth as it claimed the group had beamed its death satellite on him for smearing its name and linking it with a politician whom "the world knows was responsible for the group's plight in 2009". In the teleconference that lasted about 20 minutes, Abul Qaqa said Boko Baram has nothing to do with politics and its agents, just as it has abhorred Western education and its influence, even as he revealed that the sect will not hesitate to eliminate anyone that chooses to prefer the western culture over Sharia. Abayomi Adeshida Suspected members of Boko Haram on trial. Qaqa said the sect considers all politicians irrespective of backgrounds as the same, stressing that both Sheriff and Senator Ndume are as good as Jonathan, Mark and others who have long been on their hit list and would be eliminated at the slighted opportunity. Confirming the sect's link to Al-Qaeda, Qaqa, said: "On the claims of the French ambassador that we have a connection with Al-Qaeda, we will not deny that because any person or group of people anywhere in the world who shares our views and mission about Islam and Jihad earns our solidarity, and for that the Al-Qaeda, whether we know them or not, are our brothers and we can say we have a link in that regard. As a matter of fact, we have a link and we shall continue to sustain such relationship. We do get assistance from them on our mission here and we also extend similar gesture when the need arises. The ambassador has not lied in this regard. "We also have nothing to do with the late Ambassador Pindar as claimed by Konduga who said he was a financier of our activities. All we know is that he too is a politician and an agent of government. Even before we started our movement, everyone knows how politicians of all parties harbour thugs to perpetrate evil. Moreover, when we commenced our mission, most of them, especially during the elections, hid under the umbrella of our mission to intimidate and maim one another. We all know these and we have been taking care of such issues. We do not know Pindar in that regard; but it is very possible that they do all such evil deeds against one another using our name, and Allah has eventually exposed them. "We also want to categorically state here that we have nothing to do with Ali Sheriff, as claimed by the PDP chairman whom we have enlisted on our hit list. If Ali Sheriff is bold enough, let him come to Maiduguri or let him reveal where he is hiding, and then he will see our true colours. "Everyone knows that the attack that was meted on us in 2009 was financed by him, and we will be fools to have a relationship with such a person; because Allah has said that we revenge on anyone that attacks us in the measure as we were attacked. So as far as we are concerned, persons like Ali Sheriff, Senator Ndume and Pindar are not in any way different from President Goodluck Jonathan, whom we are targeting to eliminate soon; just the way we are looking for Jonathan, so we have included Senate President David Mark, Prof. Jerry Ghana and others in our hit list. By the grace of Allah, they are dead men any day or time we interfaced with them. "As for the media, we will want to say we have nothing against them as long as they don't distort our messages and do not inject sentiment into their jobs when handling our issue. Let them be objective and fair to all sides. With this we can see ourselves working in harmony." Meanwhile, President Jonathan has said that with intensified efforts by Nigerian security agencies to curb the menace, the Boko Haram activities in Nigeria will soon be history. Speaking while declaring open the biennial Honorary International Investors Council Meeting in Paris, yesterday, Jonathan assured members of the council and the international community that the Nigerian government was on top of the security situation in the country. "Very shortly, the tide of Boko Haram will be stemmed," the President stated, just as he hinted that several arrests had been made, leading to the wiping out of a cell of the group from Niger State. He added that Nigerian security operatives were working round the clock to rid Borno State of the notorious extremist group. Relevant Links West Africa Nigeria Terrorism In addition to ensuring the safety of lives and property all over Nigeria, Jonathan said the federal government was committed to ensuring food security for the country's growing population, and the transformation of the national economy. Earlier, the co-ordinator of the council, Baroness Lynda Chalker welcomed members of the council to the meeting, even as she urged international investors to take maximum advantage of the quality leadership being provided by Jonathan to show more interest in doing business in Nigeria. Jonathan had, on arrival Wednesday in Paris, addressed African envoys at a cocktail reception. Meanwhile, thousands of supporters of Senator Ali Ndume yesterday trooped to the state NUJ house to protest against his detention by the SSS in Abuja. The group, which was led by Mr. Ibrahim Makeri, told journalists that information reaching them through the print and electronic media of involvement of Ndume as financier of Boko Haram sect was baseless. http://allafrica.com/stories/201111250676.html |
