PoliticsRe: Abians Come And Let Us Discuss The Welfare Of Our State by remarkD(m): 3:55am On Aug 05, 2012
^^ You said "When you kick out Orji" ... who is the "you" that you are reffering in your post to kick out the governor? If you are an Ohafia dude, why wait for "you" to kick him out before you can join to improve your state?

At topic, the mindset I have, and i think for a lot of Abians both home and abroad is to gain personal success and subsequently a place where we can help effect change, by impacting peoples olives, directly and indirectly; and ho wit usually happens is people start from their villages If the Lord hears my cry and blesses me as Jabez that cried unto the Lord, heaven knows how much I want to do to help, starting with people with disabilities.
I believe I can be the Messiah, and as Asha80 said, we hope that whoever gets in the place of effecting chang will be a person with the heart of M. Okpara as he said. abia is God's own State, unu anugo!

At times I think that too (she should have stayed at World Bank and let Nigeria rot while I bring all my family over); because even if an angel comes from heaven to help move this country forward, guaranteed there will be faults, both real and unreal that'll be found with any and everything done.

There once was a character on nairaland not long ago that said Igbos are too patriotic and always want to improve the country, and that they are stupid for doing that instead of looting the treasury dry like other thieves and politicians before them.
The Igbos belief in one=Nigeria and trying to fix this country by effecting change is clearly not appreciated by other Nigerians. I mean Ironsi had to pay with his life; even Zik was shocked how tribe affiliations exceed Nigerian unity. Enough said, Nigeria doesn't deserve good leaders. Maybe GEJ should really quit and transfer this administration over to looters that will go back to the status quo.

Such ingrates.
afam4eva: I don't know why some people just like chasing shadows. What has Ngozi Okonjo Iweala done to deserve the insult that some people have constantly thrown her way. I think it was a bad idea for her to leave her job at the world bank to become a minister in hell fire.

If you can't even spell "liar" ... then there's no way you can ever understand what she meant when she mentioned 56%. Never. So just carry on and rant all you want, it doesnt change anything that you don't understand; but hopefully, by God's grace, her hard work will lead to a better country that can ensure you, or maybe your offsprings can get a good education.

I am surprised he didn't even bother to apologize after being rebuked, even by his fellow (and more enlightened) Anambra indigenes. Maybe its cause that's just the way he is... uncivilised and just plain rude. I don't know if my advice is going to mean anything to you, Chino, but I hope you aren't like this in real life - trying to deman everyone else and make yourself (and the place you come from) look superior... its just childish... wasnt that what we all did in primary school? comparing our sandals, parent's cars, houses, or whatever, to that of our friends and saying our own is superior... if you are above 18 now, there's no reason for you to still be acting juvenile like that; even going an extra mile to lie about Imo and other eastern states.
All easterners should ebe (and i am sure they are) happy for Anambra, but acting the way you are... "its our oil, its our oil, we arent giving it to anyone.." looks as if you are planning to dril lit yourself, refine it, and not even want to sell it to anyone outside your state. what you'd be doing is just secluding yourselves. Do you think your state's economy can just survive on its own in a vacuum? In todays economy where barriers to trade are being lowered and economies are merging, Canada and the U.S have skilled worker programs that import people to come and work in their countries, and you are here saying you guys will ensure no person that's not from Anambra will work there... I mean ... come on, do you really think an Igbo man in far away Umuahia or Owerri has his eyes fixed on an Oil company in Anambra to survive? You of all people (if you are Igbo) should know that we aint lazy folks with our eyes fixed somewhere else to survive.
Whether you hire indigenes from other states or not... Igbos everywhere will still survive. life goes on.

Chances are everything i have said has gone in one ear and gone out the other... or entered one eye and gone out the other lol.
but just don't let that oil get in your soups... cheesy

Please! Please!! Please!!! Stop already!!!!! I seriously am embarrassed for you!!! I wonder how your Yoruba kinsmen will feel, eh! For someone like you that derides the Igbos with every given (and even when there is no) opportunity, coming to claim Igbo and saying all the things you are saying, its just soooo ridiculous and fourking hilarious!!
You guys should read Eko ile's rants on this thread, and then right after, read the rants from this username. He/She even didnt try to change style of writing, he can't spell "disorganized " correctly and makes the same typo in both handles, and see how he didn't say anything negative about the Yorubas (and how he spelt it correctly), in this handle too he tries to indirectly insult the Igbos calling them ritualists (one of the few grammer Eko ile uses), and as someone pointed, no real Igbo person will spell Igbo as Ibo and not correct the spelling when it is pointed out, but rather continues arguing.

Eko ile, Eko ile, Ekoile!!!!! How many times did i call you? You have cracked me up tonight, dude. as i said, its a lil bit of a shame cause its obvious you are obsessed with the Igbos. each line where you say you are Igbo is just funny... and you ar bragging that you know how to speak Igbo. a real Igbo wont brag bout that and want to prove it. chai!

@Chino, when you say "We're not the same" (assuming you are serious, are you?) is your stance that Anambarians (or the Amabanwerem...complicated spelling, sorry) are the real Igbos while the rest aren't? or that the rest are Igbos and your State is not?
Cause now you have me wondering if Chinua Achebe would share such notion.... and our Eze Igbo Nairalandis not "the same" with other Igbos?

When Enugu State expelled non-indigenes, wasn't it the military that did that as a way to disunite Igbos whom were strongly getting unified as the North and West were dealing with their shenanigans... and T.A. Orji's actions are not for the best interest of Ndi Igbo nile as he didnt receive lots of support on that...

But anywho, the main thing i want to say is:
1. I want to be and remain identified as an Igbo because I am proud of the culture, spirit, strength and all the god things Igbos are known for.
2. If any group, village or state, for whatever reason, says they don't want to be seen as Igbos, i will vote that they be let to leave peacefully... we believe in live and let live

If a third person is needed to "second" the notion, then i vote in favor of the notion to have the council determine sections 7 & 9, but with one thing to add...lmajority of members will have to review or agree before what the council suggests is approved. Power belongs to the people! (Uhh that doesn't sit well in my ears in this context... so power belongs to ENYI!)
PoliticsRe: Eze Ndi Igbo Parliamentary Office - Constitutional Conference in Progress... by remarkD(m): 4:41am On Jul 10, 2012
There are some things that requires maturity to do...they seem easy and simple, but due to the ego and pride of men, especially in our culture, saying 'sorry' or admitting to be wrong (talkless of apologising), accomodating opposite views from our own and what you had just expressed happened earlier - losing interest when what you agreed with wasn't voted through - are all very, very difficult for some to do; and believe it or not, that is part of the reason wars are fought, people refuse to give up power (even unto death - Gadafi and Saddam and even the Syrian president are examples) and progress is hindered.
In my undergraduate years, I ran for a post in the Finance club and I didn't get nominated by the exec, so I decided I wouldnt be part of the club at all.Its childish i realized later on, and as part of my own personal growth and developmet, I have taken steps, its not easy, hard steps to swallow my pride when need be, apologise when I need to, even when i feeel i shouldnt, but deem it necessary, this was to my brother whom I argue alot with, he is older and I always question what he does etc, when he pointed out what i did that made him feel hurt, i started arguing, or at least explained myself to him, and at the end, said I was sorry. he was speechless... Obama did the same thing during a debate with Mikane when Mikane said something and was expecting Obama to argue, and Obama said "You know what? you are right, i agree with you, i didnt see it that way... " and Mikane started stuttering and got off the mic..

Holey sorry if i am derailing the thread on a long sermon, the point i am trying to make is that ... if you feel your way is the best for the group, and others don't see it that way, try and take a step back, and slide into the "shoes" others have chosen, and for the sake of unity and progress, go ahead with the majority. Unless it is too much, i understad it can be, ubt you could still be an agent of change from within...

Okay, I'm done.

Ka Chineke gozie anyi n'aha Jisus, Amen

One_Naira: So far, I'm enjoying everything else written on this thread, great job PointB and other therefore I would like to pledge my support to the movement. After reading the disagreement of the naming, the only person I agreed with the most (afam4eva) was shut down and everybody voted against his opinion, I lost interest in the whole charade going on. Though I believe the name should follow Afam4eva and metalgoog suggestion, I guess it just best to accept what's giving.

Anyway, I'm still lost on how far of a scope this movement would reach; is it something that would impact just Igbo people of no connection to the government or is it a movement meant to provide suggestions to the movement of Igbo land, a movement that is equivalent to ohaneze. If it is later, I propose a suggestion that I've been thinking about for a very long time. It is actually in different to the movement therefore I do apologize for going ahead, I understand you are still trying to lay rules of the movement thus still in the beginning but I do want to say this before I completely forget to inform others like I usually do. I believe leaders from Igbo land should be allowed to lead any state in Igbo land despite not being from that area meaning someone from Anambra can rule Enugu, someone from Imo can rule Anambra, etc. etc. without persecution from indigenous nor politicians from those states. Let me just give my explanation for this suggestion well we continue to get ignorant, lazy, good for nothing leaders ruling each state in Igbo land all because it is there state of origin while great leaders like Soludo, Pat utomi, etc. that have the ability to impact Igbo land greatly are kept out all because they lost the governorship of their actual state of origin. Instead of clamoring for regionalism, why can't we just bring regionalism to Igbo land even if other parts of Nigeria are not doing so?

Oh i see the point made about being anonymous and online... I was thinking ahead and that we have to un-anonymify ourselves once the group is sorted out and "ready to go."

I wasn't, still aren't sure how we can achieve much while being anonymous to each other and the people we are trying to reach.

I hope I have it all wrong.

The only reason, or one of the reasons I mentioned a fee is in order to attract only those whom are seriously and really interested to make a commitment. Being willing to pay a membership fee is putting their money where their mouth is.

I am also worried about"spies" joining if it is free. But since it has its downside, no way is completely perfect... lets just hope for the best.

I think membership is going to be a tricky one because this is an online forum. But a way to get the serious from the non-serious might be charging a fee. This might have a downside as people gravitate more to free stuffs… What do you guys think of a membership fee? And how can we verify who people are? Would people be willing to give out their credit card numbers? Any perks that the membership fee can be used for? …

Oh I got another idea for knowing those serious about this… perhaps filling an application form and having each person say why they want to become a member and ways they could possibly help the group can do it… also signing an agreement not to break the constitution or laws/rights etc of humanity and eNYI or something like that … that might not be perfect too, so maybe we should have a code of conduct too…again, i'm just throwing out ideas. This area is not my forte lol.

its not easy coming up with constitutions etc… I personally find them boring, but its important and we have to do it as the bedrock of our group… unu adala mba; lets keep it up, keep it moving, step by step, we'll get there - a better, fruitful, hopeful alaigbo.

PoliticsRe: Eze Ndi Igbo Parliamentary Office - Constitutional Conference in Progress... by remarkD(m): 6:43pm On Jul 03, 2012
Not to lose focus or anything, but iyi in Igbo izugbe is river or stream. Maybe you meant in your dialect though.
If I may, to reiterate what our NL Eze has already said, we do not want to box ourseles in a corner from the start. Yes, we would start from Igbos specifically, but in ten to twenty years time, when igbo land is flowing with milk and honey, we might still say we could have gone further had we spread our tentacles across eastern Nigeria or Nigeria as a whole.
Yes, we want to focus or start from core igbos, but shall we end it there... as the song goes.. o nuru ukwe nwanne agbala oso." We should want to keep the door open for others to come in, but doesnt mean we ourselves are gonna walk out our door and start calling on our neighbors when we havent set it straight in-house.

The name is not strikingly as important as aims, objectives and mission, methinks, so why cant we move past this stage, biko nu.

PoliticsRe: Obafemi Awolowo’s Letter From Prison (dated 28th March 1966) by remarkD(m): 2:11am On Jul 03, 2012
What i don't understand is why Gowon has not refuted Ojukwu's claim. Of the people involved, from Awolowo, to Ojukwu and Gowon, even Murtala and the prison custodians or whatevfer, only Ojukwu said anything relating to Awolow's release, and he said this, not trying to score any political points or whatever, he had nothing to gain or lose = which is why i believe him.
Cant anyone, a journalist or someone contact Gowon and ask him this question? i am sure he has heard Ojukwu's claim and said nothing.

So, Katsimoto, you are trying to use logic and make deductions that it makes sense it was Gowom to release Awolowo, but remember that this is Nigeria we're talking about. Coincidence or lack thereof is not new, this is a country where you can't make sense (or logic) of everything. Why don't you believe Ojukwu?
Whether Awolo rode in Murtala's car or on a camel's back, back to the West, it could have no relation to whom ordered his release.

Having said that, what if maybe, both of them had ordere dhis release? i don't even know why this is controversial, as one_naira said, it doesn't change my view of Awolowo who released him. what i remember for is what he did by his policies against Biafrans before, during and after the war, ... and how he died of course. Coupled with the fact that he is ... a lil slimy. i don't see him as a tribalist, nothing wrong with loving your people, but his character seems a bit dubious.. A man of dubious character who wanted the presidency (prime minster position) by all means possible, i wonder why he was that desperate? and wanted to get it through dubious means.

Now on to my last point, dede1, i follow your posts quite religiously and have learnt a lot from you. a lot of people dont understand you because you present your points in a lil coded way. and nigerians are not too smart to understand and read between the lines of what you say, so it seems to them that you are dancing around the point. i used to find it difficult when my profs never answered a direct question, but would ask us more questions and try to make us reason it out. I must say though, tha ti would really appreciate your explanation on why you believe the NCNC won the election. it could be common knowledge, but are there any hard facts you have? even that author a couple days ago or so that wrote crap about Igbos and Yorubas said the NCNC won, but lots of people just ignored that. so it seems a lot of people believe it, but i'd like to see something concrete, i see you called Kats stats flawed, but we have nothing else to go by eh? PDP is said to have won, but we cant really prove it... is that the case here?

And if a driver is stopped and asked for his license and he said he doesn't have it cause its at home or in his grandma's village, it doesnt mean he can't prove it, or tha the doesnt have one, you just don't know.... i think i'll leave it at that.

Thanks to you guys for posting, i have learnt quite a bit from this thread...

"So what is the name of your group?" ... ""Its called 'ENYI... Ndi Igbo ebiliwo!" (The udaolu on "enyi" denoting that of "friend" as opposed to elephant; giving a sense of saying "Friend, the Igbos have risen!" ...
Risen to?... objectives include reclaiming the future via... political/economic awareness from the grass root.
Should there be a "mission" as well as aims and objectives... cause missioin i think is the "how to" so maybe via lobbying, education programs or whatever... i'm just throwing things out there.. my two sense eh.

While i'm at it, one thing i strongly believe and wish for is that each and every citizen will know that they have a right, and should be able to contact their rep member and voice their concern on what they want from the government.
a lot of people are ignorant about politics or how the government works. There should be a means to contact senators or members of the house of reps and the public should know it.

The more aware people are of the government, the mor elikely they are to hold them accountable.

it would also be nice to have a part of the group workin gon cultural preservation. Lobbying schools, even private schools, to teach Igbo, the language, history, etc. it is disappointing when kids even in Nigeria can't speak Igbo, talkless of those abroad. yet kids born in north america of asian descent are able to speak fluetn Chinese languages.

Okay, think i've said enough for now. I am glad to see a group like this, i really hope tangible results can be produced and i will give my unflenching support as much as i can.

Word. The Igbo so called "leaders" are a disgrace. its pathetic to say the least. . attimes i wonder if therewill ever be someone from ala igbo with the leadership qualities and characteristics of people like Ojukwu, Okpara, Mbakwe and co. that had the interest of the people, the "commmon" people at heart and push for a cause, their cause. but what do you see these days... at times i feel so sad i want to cry for my people. God save us, God help us, i don't want it to take a polgrom or something drastic to happen before someone emerges, cause it seems from the culture that a leader rises from the crowd when things start getting out of hand. how bad do things have to get, my dear Igbos?outtt

mens dept: The whole upgrading of Ibiam Airport in Enugu was just a bunch of BULLSHyt. Obansanjo promised this airport in his 1st and 2nd term, then Yar I Die in Arabia the same thing, and now Goodluck with the usual official policy of nothing Federal going to the East.

By the way, let me say that the problem is squarely on the Igbo folks. Yes, Enugu state has budgets/allocations yearly of over US $500 Million, with additional allocations from Abia (this state alone US $800 million) Imo, Ebonyi, and ANambra.

So why cant they (the pathethic leaders in SE, including APGA) build/upgrade their own goddammm airport? Why are they waiting for the FG who recently says they are upgrading the four standing int'l airports already, which would surely abolish any need to create/upgrade any more.

Guess they are hoping the villagers in Imo and Abia State are going to tax themselves again to build an airport, or Okpara and co to come from the grave to do it for them.

Igbo people remain a local people. Yes, no connection to the outside world, no world class structures, and no World Class leadership.

That sucks.

if he got this angy for his id's being banned, then he must be profusely weeping now his IP address has been banned; sure he feels completely frustrated, like the only thing he does has been taken away from him. That's just the vibe i get and i think its snot out of line given his actions and reactions.
having said that, i also plead with Seun to unban him. as someone said he drops it like its hot and is clearly a tribalist, but i wont say he's an extremist. The boat of extremists is definately with passengers like bluetooth, eko ile, chino11 and wuliwuli. i had tried posting this earlier on the other thread, but dunno what happened. Ban these 4 extremists, and if you dont see some sanity coming to the politics section, i'll give you back your money.

Guy, honestly? i know things are hard, but $100 a month might be difficult to do; but to manage that, you definately will have to make some sacrifices like eating out, drinking alcohol and some delicacy foods,
make sure though you shop in the big chain grocery stores like Superstore - definately the cheapest grocery store; and if you know things you will be eating regularly, like cereals (corn flakes, cheerios, rice krispies etc) then even buying in bulk will be cheaper, Cosco is the only bulk store i can think of.
Coming to think of it, cornflakes is one thing you can eat 3 times a day, so its not a bad idea, maybe adding some peanuts or apples will make it more filling.
besides cornflakes, noodles! like the indomie sachets wont be a bad idea. another thing you can eat anytime, mostly lunch and dinner. also able to buy in bulk.
as someone said, never shop for food in a convenient store. milk, juice, pepper and other ingredients, very expensive.
depending on what other stuffs you like to eat, or dont like, you will have to be very economical on a hundred bucks a month.
Depending on your pride and ego, there are free foods during some events on campus, don't miss those lol.
some Churches also have snacks/meals for free after service. (Not Redeemed - that i know of anyways); but some churches have refreshments every Sunday.
one last warning: if a friend invites you to his or her birthday at a restaurant, my guy, whatever you eat/drink is on YOU! Be warned! lol.

At Alj_Harem, i'm not sure when to take you seriously or not, tell me though, when you asked where and when Nigerian troops killed civilians, were you kidding? or you seriously are unaware of such things happening?
a yes or no answer will be just fine.

@topic, they reason i think he said that is what another poster said earlier, it was out of frustration that the Biafrans were holding their own. They never thought Biafra would last 30 days. Gowon said the war was gonn' last 2 weeks, Adekulikulinli boasted of capturing the hole of Biafra in days, but when he came alittle bit closer to the heart of Biafra where he said he would shoot at everything that moves and doesn't move, he was put to shame. defeated.

it makes me wonder and seriously, a little shocked, to see people here equating the killing of civilians, women and children to bravery.

Recently DK said he doesn't "idolise" Awolowo (can't recall the exact word he used), but Benjamin Adekunli is his super duper hero, and he has mentored Ekt_bear as a disciple and lover of a man who is a nobody today and has no legacy , or the legacy of killing civilians.

i can't say enough y'all. Peace.
