PoliticsRe: Let's Have Your Complaints, Suggestions & Enquiries Here by remarkD(m): 3:21am On May 31, 2013
I can't understand how a mod. can come on a thread and be selective in the posts they choose to hide; they don't check their bias on the door before entering the thread. Jabs they feel, by virtue of whatever ethnicity they are, are quickly hidden, but jabs on another ethnic group other than that of the mod. on the said thread, are let to slide because he doesn't see or feel how wrong such jab(s) are when it is clearly against the rule(s).

I wasnt a big fan of the mechanic that was brought to mod. here because he was all over the place and a bit hasty in making decisions, but for the first time, i saw posters holding back from crossing the line when "fighting" even emotionally tense debates. I don't know if he was the one who gave me my first ban, i didnt really care, after he left, i got another ban, i can't recall if the name of the mod. that hands out the ban is posted, but i am certain that NO specific reason was given for the ban.

I remember the thread though. Now I am not a "regular" poster here, and more often than not, I post in reaction to those posters that are seemingly getting away with being silly and posting bold-faced lies to deceive other gullible posters, as well as being rude and insulting.
I followed the suggestion i have seen mods give here... "use the 'report' button blah blah blah"... which I did and waited for about half an hour only to see the same poster still posting his nonsense and insutls that were breaking the rule. Long story short is i posted what i deemed to be some 'hard truths' that didnt put the offending poster and his people in good light... and the next thing i see when logging in is that i was banned for 'tribalism.'

The only reason i am posting this is because ... as Rusell Peters will put it .. "somebody is gonna get hurt real bad..."

sure i'll be banned again for "tribalism"...

Peace out.

CrimeRe: Gunmen Kill Two Igbo Men In Kano by remarkD(m): 1:25pm On May 28, 2013
Maybe this is the appropriate time to say this on NL... and I hope and wonder why Igbos residing in the north haven't thought of what I'm about to say... at least not from their actions; such action is paramount given the rate and boldness of the northerners when it comes to taking the precious of an/many Igbo (men).

Since the police and the soldiers haven not been able to protect the citizens from such barbaric killings, use ractive measures which apparently doesnt bring back the lives of those killed when they open their mouths to state pure... manure

My dear Igbo brothers resident in the North, how long shall you "face your business" when you have seen and continue to see the lives of your fellow brothers taken indiscriminately?
How long shall you stay in your shops and relax to watch movies when you know there are people all around you that don't want you and other Nigerians that don't "look, talk, behave etc" in their midst. What are you waiting for? for the deaths to reach thousands and tens of thousands? waiting for Ojukwu? or what? What exactly makes you sit down seemingly with folded arms acting like "I-don't-care" ... maybe until it hits you that are alive, or your family memers, but i pray God to forbid. I also pray that you NEED TO STAND UP!!!!

Stand up and take freaking charge... of your safety, your business, your family and other investments you might have.

I know you (we) are very intelligent and able to do this.

it won't take too much to form a secret deadly force. Aforce or squad that uses the powerful tool of human intelligence (which was crucial and led to the eventual capture of Bin Laden... if they had no human intelligence, all their navy seals and weapons etc could have been on innocent lives in Pakistan/Afghanistan).

My brothers, I am sure lots of you can speak fluent Hausa, some of you if not all know the cities and where your businesses are located like the back of your palm... so why not have these squad members, you don't need too many of them per operation actually... on every street where you are located... 1 or 2 undercover snipers from an undisclosed location can monitor both entrances of the area your are doing your work; i this situation of the thread, imagine if an Igbo sniper from the top of a building, tree or whatever, had seen these men on the bikes entering the street, before passing info/message to the guys and raising an alarm, i am sure that 2 shots one for each, will bring these men down, if not before they had struck, then afterwards when you know for sure they were terrorists, shoot them down as they flee.

You need close monitoring of your environments, you residencesand so on. Mingle into the locals group community, find their secrets, modus operandi... i tell ya... burn a mosque after they burn a church... hit them back.. then they will know who is boss. Have i said they will know who is boss? Well, then they will know who is boss. heheh :;
PoliticsRe: Northern Elders To President: Your Administration Worst In Nigeria History by remarkD(m): 7:51am On May 28, 2013
Point, you're on point there, bro. If the Mallam couldn't list a single reason for his assertion, then I wonder why the OP whom is considered one of the top posters on NL bothered posting and starting this thread... but wait... he is one of those that deride anything PDP; and also believe that if a PDP stooge joins ACN or an opposition party, that stooge all of a sudden no longer has any of the baggage he or she had while in PDP.

Back to the Mallam, I don't blame him shaa... after all he is a northerner - the people that view the FG as their "right" while holding down and ensuring the "South" is put on a tight leash. He wants us, educated Nigerians, to believe that this current government is worse than that of Gowon? that of M. Mohammed, of Buhari, IBB and Abacha? He would prefer such people to be in power? for what reason? i must ask; again, couldnt he have drwan a comparison between such governments and that of today?

And at this juncture do I challenge all of you nairalanders that deride the current administration, including you the OP, i challenge and dare you (all) to pick one of the past administrations, and even with your bias, state irreputable facts that compares this administration to that of any previous one, especially that from the north. Granted, this is a democracy and we've been under a facist dictatorship for a while, but since the Mallam has cast his wide dispersion, it is clear that he has made such a conclusion with an inspite of the different type of governmentfrom the past to present.

I will be glad for anyone to take up this challenge. Tabulate it, put it in point form, use charts or whatever tools you deem fit, but what i need from you is nothing but the truth, facts, figures and so on to prove that Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan is below par in comparison to past governments.

Need I mention here that I aint holding brief for any president, past or present, and at heart that I am a Biafran: meaning that all (the three (3) things) i care about is results, results, and results. Did I mention that all i care about is results already? Results that won't just benefit Biafrans, but the populus at large, the so called "average" Nigerian.

Also, Joe definately has his flaws, I mean, who doesn't? He is not God.For someone who suddenly had the "burden" of being the president of this tribalised country, I can state without fear of contradiction that he has recorded landmark results, for lack of a better term (than landmark). Yes, there may be corruption prolems that he allegedly is letting slide, as well as other decisions his detractors blame him for making the wrong move, but remember, the problems of this country didnt start with GEJ, and given the record of how much loot has een lost in the past in the hands of past residents, why blame this young man for trying his best to deal with these deep issues the country has.

Again, weigh his accomplishments, tangible and intangible, direct and indirect benefits of GEJ to that of other presidents, and I stand to be corrected, by facts not logic, to say that Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan can be called the "Zik of Nigeria... heheh.... i am tempted to call him the Father of develpment... but m sure Ola Johnson and his brothers are laying wait to do what they know best. lol. Peace out.

ayox2003: grin grin grin grin. U gotta be kidding. During Abacha's regime we won many trophies in the Olympics, we won Gold in Soccer - USA '94.

The Northern Elders are not serious. Where would they place Babangida's regime - the worst in our history?

GEJ's regime is not the worst. Not even near the worst at all. Because we keep GEJ on his toes doesn't mean we should call him what he's not.

PoliticsRe: Yoruba May Determine Who Wins The Presidency In 2015 by remarkD(m): 10:48am On May 08, 2013
Hello, Gbawe:

Good morning, sir.

I read your posts with keen interest when I see them (as I'd observed over time they're void of nonsense and street/ggabbage talk oozing from most posters with no manners, especially when making an opposing comment). Having said that, this your post left me with an unsettling question... even before I finished... at some point i wondered if you "see" what you just said the way I see it and how it came across.

In the politcal arena of our country, when the word "Herd mentality" .. (guess that is two words lol) is mentioned... irrespective of its accuracy, your people (has a better flow i think than saying "the Yorubas" will be the ones believed to exhibit such behavior (at least, more than other groups in Nigeria).

I have heard the saying that Yorubas don't vote anything that is not Yorua. Our last election showed that to some degree... there was no Yoruba candidate (of/from the major parties anyways), and we saw how nonchallant they were and recorded low turnouts in that part of the country; even though the supposed Yoruba party was in the race, problem was: with a non-Yoruba face ... must confess I'm tempted to insert a tribal-marked-face joke here lol).

The reaction of the Yorubas to Chinua Achebe's last book kind of denotes this herd mentality as well...I say that because the Yorubas felt he had spread whatever effect it had on Awolowo's behavior to ALL Yorubas... it seemed ridiculous: I mean, you can argue the facts and say your mind etc, but saying he'd insulted the Yorubas, i must say, didnt do any good to Igbos perception of the Yorubas. One will say it goes both ways, that is, Chinua's comments did no good to the Igbo-Yoruba relationship and any progress that might have been made over the years. Anywho, enough bandwidth has been committed to that topic anyways, so lemme not spend any more time on it.

So yeah, i'd like to know if you agree with me that herd mentality, which you stated in your post, though can generally be seen across the board in Nigeria... is more, greatly, and I will go as far as saying characteristic of the Yorubas.

Thanks for reading.
Cheers,
Remark D.

Gbawe: I disagree. The real problem is herd mentality, underdeveloped minds and severe lack of sophistication. I.e the inability of Nigerians to think, reflect deeply and establish themselves as individuals. Those kind of people will always be susceptible to divisive, crude and unsophisticated characters like GEJ, Dokubo-Asari et al. Look at how Berem is being upbraided here for having her individual opinion contrary to the 'herd'. For those who don't have full independent control of their minds - and this would be a lot of Nigerians in my opinion - certain primordial instincts are heightened under certain conditions/characters.

Ethnic rancour is high now because it is subliminally and openly encouraged by the present government and its minions respectively with many Nigerians not aware they are being manipulated, exploited and goaded. How many people know that marketeers and lobbyist deliberately engage psychologist who help them use certain language in pertinent literature to get anticipated and automatic reaction from the unthinking public that favours what the 'code writers' are trying to achieve?

Trust me, most people respond to the examples of societal 'leader', whether they be entertainers or politicians, far more than they know. When Nigeria gains a truly classy President, who is deep in ideas and humanity, then there will be less focus on ethnicity . The right President, by his own ideas, sophistication and focus, will automatically raise the bar to force Nigerians to do ideas.

Ignore nonentities even if what they saying is true?
If GEJ and his followers/advisers (someone is it advisers or advicers?) can see that the 2nd Niger bridge and the Onitsha port is being used by the opposition to attack him and paint him in bad light (as a person that uses and dumps people or one breaking his political promises), isnt it simple common sense and a good strategy for him to, at least, the very least, ensure that those raised issues are accomplished to the fullest extent. I mean... it seems so simple but at times, even simple things seem to elude and becloud the judgement and senses of Nigerian politicians because of, should I say, Psycophancy clouding their eyes and minds.

Just imagine if that port is launched and begins operation as soon as possible and its benefits begin to be flet by the users... imagine if the internatiional wing of the Enugu (international) airport starts flying peeps straight to Atlanta, Georgia in the U.S. or London, England ... and to top it all off... the 2nd Niger bridge is built... although, maybe and perhaps, it might not be used as much if the above mentioned port and airport commence operations... (guessing that the lack thereof is what leads many easterners to cross the bridge en route to Lagos) ... imaginehow effective that will be for Uncle Joe .. his works will speak loud and clear for him... the opposition will be sent scrambling for other issues (which won't fly as Igbos will already have solid support for GEJ.

If GEJ (and his followers) have ears, let them listen. Don't wait till the last minute to fulfill those promises and the economic needs of the easterners... you dont want to give your enemies ground and time to cause damage... Get to work GEJ... listen to the writing on the wall lol. Get to work!
Billyonaire: That name doesnt ring bell, and the group he represents is not eligible. So therefore, he does not represents the hearts and minds of the "majority" of Igbos, which we need to 'catapult' GEJ to the next phase of glory. We need to ignore non-entities!

Ladies & Gentlement:

What do we have here on our hands?

A young man that says TFA and Chinua Achebe himself should not e given the acclaim it has garnered so far; because there is nothing special in TFA. Going on to compare Wole Soyinka to Chinua Achebe, because the former received a nobel prize forliterature.

Questions:
If it wasnt such a great book, why has it sold millions of copies all over the world, and translated in over 30 languages! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, ... all the way to 30 countries1 Does this mean that Chinua is a great business man that is able to sell/market a product all over the world and take in millions in profit?

Which other Nigerian book has been a best-seller? And please does anyone know which book Wole Soyinka got a nobel prize for? and how many copies have been sold till date?

And the last question toes to the core of why we see threads on nairaland trying to elittle the achievement of others.
Why do Yaribas feel a need to belittle any achievement of the Igbos, even when international and unbiased foreigners acknowledge such achievements?
Is it jealousy? low self-esteem? a deep desire to be succcessful like the Igbo succes stories all over the world?
Why oh why do they even go the extent of incorporating lies, forging documents, double-speaking, flip-flopping and doing all they can to "water down" Igbo success. From forging a letter and putting Ojukwus name on it, to the claim of Fajuiyi chose to die with Ironsi; pointing sabotage accusations at Zik, even when Awo was doing the exact same thing (negotiating behind the back of Zik, with the north)... but they didnt know Zik was always one step ahead of them... and succeeded before Awolowo could make a deal with the North. The stories are endless and prevalent on this nairaland. The Ogbunigwe is another one that comes to mind.

Igbos are like a spring, my friends, the more you try to push or pull them down, the higher they will soar, like eagles in the skies.

Keep hating, we will keep rolling.

Peace.

P.S. Sam's article is nothing new, we already know the true color of the frog-eyed man and his agents.

Have I said keep hating and we will keep rolling/ well.. keep hating and we will keep rolling! Soaring! Igbo Kwenu!!!! grin cheesy

I'm sure its you (Rich John) that was a while back tried to start some sot of campaign for all Yorubas in Lagos to fire their Igbo employees! rofl!

In your dreams did you see an Igbo man working for a Yoruba.. in Nigeria.

We know why it stillpains you guys (the triablist Yorubas on here) so much, so bitterly, that our hero did not surrender to Obasanjo.
it "pains" y'all so bad that your only solace is to make fun of him "running" away to Cote D'Ivoire. Typical attitude towards a girl or job or whatever it is that one tries to get, but fails --- belittling the object helps the person deal with the disappointment.

In that your a

ttempt to have Igbos fired, you wanted to "lead by example" and said you were going to fire the two Igbos you employed... that was so laughable who knows if you have a job, your oga at the top might even be Igbo. Anu mpam. ewu ohia. Ishi okpoo.
and as a school mate in highschool would ask a "misbehavant" (lol) ... or rather comment ... "(O di ka) eji azu amu muo gi." If you have any Igbo friend, ask them for its meaning... but seeing your hate on here... you probably dont, so unless a nairalander interpretes it for ya... nevermind it then...

well ... on a second note and thought ... it means ... "You make me laugh and thats a good thing!" grin tongue

There was a man,

his name was Rich John.

But he was not rich.

Far from it, he was poor.

Poor like a church rat.

Well, that, i don't know... its just a guess.

But what I do know, and am very sure of-

is that he hates the Igbos.

he sees them prosper

he sees them flourish

he sees them move to western nigeria,

and through their hard work and labor, blood and sweat, discrimination and envy,

(from non-Igbos and even the government at times)

they succeed - and the painful part is ...

they send their profits and riches to family in the east;

they visit from Lagos in brand new cars;

and Rich John just can't take it,

he just cant.

Strange?

Well, there's more.

If Rich John found a bottle or rat poison,

and opens it (for a drink) - and at his surprise -

a genie appears.

If he had 3 wishes -

even if it was just one wish...

Rich John would ask the Genie

to make all Igbos disappear from Lagos.

But the joke is on him.

The Genie is Igbo.

and before the Genie allowed him to take his drink like his forefather, Wowo Awo

The Genie said to him ...

"What God has blest... no man can curse.

What point is there to be envious of someone's success? One would wonder.
but this is Nigeria, where hate, backbiting and all manners of evil pervade.
May god help us all... aman

rich_john: It won't work only if the yorubas stop folding their hands.
Take a look at PH they are also laying claim to that place at the expense of the ikwerres they literally own PH. I think we can stop them using the power of Nairaland let's start a thread "YORUBAs beware, Ibos plans to acquire the whole of Lagos in 40 years time" you know government officials know dis website it will go a long way in stalling their unsatiable lust for Lagos and the South-west. Lagosians have failed the yorubas but its never too late to stop this strange race!

ACM10: Lesson 101: Never negotiate with terrorists and capital offenders. Crush them! Amnesty is useless.

Well, negotiating and appeasing terrorists and capital offenders are the hallmark of a dying nation. Byzantine paid money to the forces that threatens their nation. What did they get in return? They were humiliated and severly crushed by the Ottomans. History is replaying itself again. Anyone who thinks that appeasing terrorists will dissuade them from their goal needs to have his head examined.
Roger that, my brother. This amnesty thing has never sat well with me. its analagus to those who pay someone that has a sex picture or video of them and threatens to post it on the internet. They just soak money from you...you pay the first time, and for a short while, they don't post the pic or video, and then of course another threat will come....... amnesty is a temporary fix, i really dot know why or how people in power in Nigeria make decisions .... well... all I can do is pray for my beloved country.
