PoliticsRe: How Precolonial Nigerians PAVED Their Roads And Compounds by RenaissanceGuy: 8:31am On Mar 12, 2024
Imagine ordinary road construction, we rely on foreign companies. What a shame of gargantuan proportion. There's almost no road commission today where you don't see white people dragging seats with our governors.

PoliticsRe: Northern Traders Are The Most Honest’, Nigerians Extol by RenaissanceGuy: 3:07pm On Mar 10, 2024
The same people who hiked the price of rice from ₦25k to ₦60k+, consequently affecting the prices of other food stuff? To an extent, the extremely religious ones have integrity, but so do born again Christians.
PoliticsRe: Basket Of Tomatoes Now #15,000 From #42,000 by RenaissanceGuy: 2:10pm On Mar 10, 2024
Same with onion. The onion of ₦4,500 in December was what I got for less than ₦1,000 last week.

The girls' attires - sleeveless for the younger one and cleavage-revealing for the older, do not depict mourners. I wonder why someone didn't discourage them from putting them on.

PoliticsRe: Tinubu Told To Borrow $30bn From IMF Over Economic Hardship by RenaissanceGuy: 7:04pm On Mar 06, 2024
Borrow from IMF and then send it to Europe, China and America through import of needless commodities that we should be manufacturing here in Nigeria??

TravelRe: UAE Lifts Visa Bans On Nigerians by RenaissanceGuy: 4:17pm On Mar 05, 2024
What a s h a m e. Just see what Nigerians are celebrating. Tomorrow Togo will ban Nigeria and after 1 year reverse the ban and shameless people would be jubilating all over the social media, as if Nigeria won a trillion dollar lottery.
PoliticsRe: President Tinubu Should Lift Ban On Food Importation Before It Is Late by RenaissanceGuy: 8:21pm On Mar 04, 2024
stevnwigw1:
Since the bandits can no longer allow farmers to go to the field, the ban should be lifted on food importation so that rich Igbo importers can bring in food before it is too late.
Rich Igbo importers grin. Pride and arrogance on steroids.

PoliticsRe: Countries With Similar Or Worse Power Supply Than Nigeria! (Surprising List) by RenaissanceGuy:
Tellmeastory:
Belgium and Germany would be starving today were it not for the African resources they looted from the continent at gunpoint.
Australia, New Zealand, are simply relocated western capital enriched by looting Africa and the Southern Hemisphere.
So this whole nonsense about “brains”. Uzbekistan, Albania, and Tajikistan did not loot and rape half the Earth, so they remain poor, even though they are whites.
So they don’t have brains?

It’s about ruthless greed, not brains.
Yes o, they were starving before they began to colonize African in the 19th century. In fact, before 19th century, Somalia was the most developed country in the world. Are you happy now?? Can you mention a single African country that is complaining that all its resources such as gold, silver, crude oil, diamond, copper, iron ore, etc, have been looted by the whites?? Let's say they "looted" 10%, what are we doing with the remaining 90%? We're still exporting it to them in raw materials and then turn back to import it from them in finished goods in form of vehicles, airplanes, tractors, refined fuels, smart phones, electronics, industrial machinery, etc.
What are we doing with the massive gold and other solid mineral deposits scattered across Nigeria? We're waiting for the same white people to come and help us develop them as if angels came down from heaven to teach them. Ordinary agriculture, we're depending on small Ukraine to supply wheat to the whole of Africa.
PoliticsRe: Countries With Similar Or Worse Power Supply Than Nigeria! (Surprising List) by RenaissanceGuy: 11:26am On Mar 04, 2024
Tellmeastory:
Electricity supply company! grin

Which power plants did they build?

Or you don’t know the British simply imported industrial generators to light up the Ikoyi and GRAs their colonial officials were living?

You guys don’t know anything!

The reason you have ANY modernity around you today is that Nigerians came to power in 1960, and began building the country, from schools to roads to factories etc.

Minus that, you would all be illiterate village farmers and palmwine tappers right now.
OK, the British never did anything. So what have we done for ourselves since the last 63 years?? Did you know that when whites landed in present day Australia, it was all huts and mud houses?? Can you see how they transformed those places?? Why can't we replicate the same instead of making excuses??
PoliticsRe: Countries With Similar Or Worse Power Supply Than Nigeria! (Surprising List) by RenaissanceGuy: 11:21am On Mar 04, 2024
Tellmeastory:
It is the HEIGHT OF IGNORANCE and IDIOCY to compare yourself to a country that has 100 times more money than you, by virtue of their tiny population and gigantic oil wealth.

If Nigeria will advance, it will NOT be because of oil wealth. The oil income is a PITTANCE for our huge population.
There's no such thing as money. It's invention and putting your brain to work that produces prosperity. How many barrel of oil do Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Belgium, Germany have?? If it's all about having natural resources, Congo and Niger should be rubbing shoulders with the likes of France and US. When you rely on outsiders to come with so-called FDI how would you develop??
PoliticsRe: Countries With Similar Or Worse Power Supply Than Nigeria! (Surprising List) by RenaissanceGuy: 11:14am On Mar 04, 2024
Tellmeastory:
The first power plant in Nigeria was Kainji Dam, commissioned in 1964.
Nigeria’s first university was established in 1962, two years after independence.
The British did a big fat Zero in their time here.
This country only began to develop from the 1960s! There are people alive today who were FULL-GROWN ADULTS WITH KIDS, when Nigeria gained independence! This is an extremely YOUNG nation.
What about the Nigerian Electricity Supply Company established in 1929? What about the UI and UNN established in 1948 and 1960 respectively??

SEE, THIS IS THE IGNORANCE I HATE ON THIS FORUM. This dude just compared Nigeria to UAE! UAE The UAE has 100 billion barrels of oil reserves, exporting 3.2 million barrels per day, with a population of 9 million people.

Nigeria has 37 billion barrels of oil reserves, exporting 1.5 million barrels per day, with a population of 240 million people.

But this guy thinks Nigeria should be “like UAE”.

IN FACT I GIVE UP ON THIS FORUM.
Please give up because your logic is flawed. What about countries that do not have crude oil at all?? Who prevented Nigeria from utilizing the prosperity from oil to develop the manufacturing, agricultural and tech sector like the countries we call developed today did??
PoliticsRe: Countries With Similar Or Worse Power Supply Than Nigeria! (Surprising List) by RenaissanceGuy:
Tellmeastory:
Because Nigeria has 240 million people, it's harder.

Same issue with India and Pakistan.

Togo and Ghana have more steady light than India.

It is easier, cheaper, and quicker to power up a small country of 5 million to 30 million people versus one of 240 million or 1.2 billion.

It's really that simple!

By the way, USA, Britain, Germany, Russia etc have been independent for several CENTURIES, versus Naija's 60 years. It makes no sense saying we should be like them by now.

Imagine comparing yourselves to countries that have been independent for over 350 years!

You will just give yourself unnecessary blood pressure.
What does not being independent have to do with development?? Did they tell you that the British government put all of us in non-development while they were here?? Who built the earliest power plants, motorable roads, universities?? Was it not 1997 Britain left Hong Kong, and Hong Kong is currently one of the most developed countries in the world??

GSM used to be very expensive. My first sim cost me 7000 naira, and that was the cheapest provider

But at the end, thanks to free market, prices came down.

The thing is, prices of stuff don't care about your income. There is a laptop I would love to buy, but at the end of the day it is way beyond my income

We have sold power at cheap prices for donkey years, and as a result, power supply is poor. Either we change the way we do things, or we have bad light
Till now, NCC still regulates Telcom cost. That's partly why the price of 1gb has not hit ₦5,000 but is instead less than ₦400, despite the cost of every service and product hitting the roof. If NCC allows the telcos to determine rates, they'd conspire together to arbitrarily hike cost to the point where 1 minute call would cost ₦100 and a GB of internet data would sell for at least ₦5,000.

PoliticsRe: The Bauchi Oil Wells SCAM by RenaissanceGuy: 7:51pm On Mar 03, 2024
SpecialAdviser:
It is shameful that when smart Igbo people and reasonable people tell Nigerians truth, they term it HATE. Unfortunately these are people who really hate Igbos and really hate their country.

How would one describe a situation where people accuse Igbos of wishing Nigeria bad because they try to open their eyes to truth?
Igbos are wishing Nigeria evil and you are wishing Nigeria good, how come Nigeria is not getting better? Is it that God has rejeceted your own prayers?.

When Igbos told Nigerians that Bauchi Oil reserve is a SCAM used to justify all the billions spent in search of non existing oil in the north, they were called names. The money spent in search of this non-existing oil would have lifted Nigerian economy. But Bihari and his gang of criminals chose to waste the fund.

Till date, no oil anywhere. Dangote had to go to US for crude oil. What a shame of a nation.
I thank Igbos and other reasonable Nigerians for being wise. APC is evil
You should be ashamed of yourself for your disgusting tribal-worship. Igbo Igbo Igbo on every line — how old are you sef??
PoliticsRe: Lagos Rail Network To Grow With Addition Of Green And Purple Lines by RenaissanceGuy: 4:16pm On Mar 03, 2024
Very good. I'm looking forward to the day when Lagosians would cease waking up by 4am to start preparing for a workplace whose resumption time is 8am. That's when we'd know that these rail networks were perfectly designed to reverse that ugly trend.
PoliticsRe: Rufai Oseni's Poll Reveals The President Nigerians Missed The Most (Pictures) by RenaissanceGuy:
This emergency love for Yar'Adua was simply because he died in a very pitiable state in office. Aside that, just like Buhari, he was also accused of being an ethnic irredentist. Secondly, DSS invaded a newspaper house and destroyed and confiscated their property for writing scathing reports against him and even before he took ill, he was just a figurehead president, whilst the Fulani cabal around him wields the power.

My own concern is the extreme cost of yam, something that should be retailing for ₦10,000 for at least 100 pieces.
