helinues: Let me repeat again, Obasanjo is close to Kenya government irrespective of who the president is. Uhuru was frequent in Nigeria when he was the president Obasanjo deliberately lured Raila into AU chair position so that the nonsense Mandamano can stop So, Obasanjo who's not even in a good relationship with Tinubu, will twist the hands of Kenyan govt to arrest somebody for Nigeria. Please, learn to comment in a more politically mature way. Oya, do a clapback while your autolikers give you a horde of likes. |

Procashtips: So no cryptocurrency platforms in Kenya? Of course, there are, but are the users intentionally forming a ring to manipulate the rate to achieve financial or political gains?? People make millions of dollars through crypto and forex, even without having to manipulate the market. So it's greed raised to power 100 for those doing so. |

Catapault: You forgot to mention ''after genociding their inhabitants''.
African explorers did not take civilisation round the world with the intent of mass murdering native populations, and seizing their land and riches to build ''skyscrapers'' for themselves.
Or they could have EASILY done that, because they were militarily strong.
Africans went there to help build societies WITH the local inhabitants.
That is why those societies were multiracial and prosperous for millennia.
Your 'Ends justifies the means' philosophy is savage, barbaric, and unsustainable if the Earth is to survive..
By that philosophy, I can rightfully storm your village now and shoot everybody, and seize the land for the purpose of building a resort or ''skyscrapers'' for the next generation to enjoy.
If it's not okay for YOU, how was it ok for the natives slaughtered by the Europeans in their lands?
If they want to live in mud huts, how is that your problem?
Is it your land?
Or your white master's land?
So if some people develop advanced houses in Japan that look like spaceships, after a while they can come and kill you for living in an ordinary flat?
Kill you, seize your house and build their spaceship house on top?
Do you realise it is that ''might is right'' philosophy of the west that has led the world to the nuclear precipice?
There is a Doomsday Clock that is set at a few minutes to MIDNIGHT, in western intelligence circles, in terms of how close the world is to a nuclear holocaust.
Do you know that any false mistake among those powers now, and the Earth is toast?
Including its 'skyscrapers'?
They spend hundreds of billions of dollars a year building ever more devastating weapons of mass destruction.
They are absolute idiots, these 'whites' you worship.
Their leaders are psychopaths.
They are short-sighted, thoughtless, spiritually bankrupt, arrogant and ignorant.
Their 'me first' philosophy will destroy the Earth absent of external intervention, perhaps from Divinity itself.
The 'intelligence' of the west is actually FOOLISHNESS. But you're too naive to see it, and are fooled by the ''skyscrapers''. So who did they also "genocide" to build Denmark, Austria, Finland, etc, while Africa continues to look less than a 13th century Europe?? Ordinary transformers, railway we can't manufacture/construct; are they the ones responsible for that?? |

flybridgeom: This article is complete junk. Shame on punch newspaper. The author does not even know what he/she is talking about. Anonymous sources and conjecture littered everywhere.
I understand the government is acting a script to bring down cryptocurrency (whoever is playing that drum no concern me), but let's get serious.
We will NEVER have a consistently strong Nigerian Naira until we become a serious EXPORTING country. Boosting exports is the only sustainable way to strengthen the Naira. Then you can even play around and keep your currency high or low depending on national strategic priorities, like Japan.
Just this morning, Vanguard newspaper is reporting that manufacturers over the course of 1 year, incurred losses of 266billion Naira. So, our production capacities is on the low, meaning exports is weak, and we expect the Naira to be strong, because... Of course, Cardoso is CBN governor. Dey play!
This blaming of BDCs, "currency speculators", interbank, cryptocurrency exchanges, etc is kindergarten stuff.
Let's get serious as a country. It's a lie. Sabotage and speculation are responsible for Naira's decline, not about not exporting much. Kenya's shilling was 88 to a dollar in 2014; today it's 144. Naira was 216; today it's 1,100+. Ours shouldn't exceed 350 if not for intentional sabotage. |

Let me add my voice
Granting someone bail at any amount simply means that the person who will stand as surety to the accused must be ready to pay that amount when the accused runs away before the conclusion of the case, meaning the surety is not even paying any money before the release of the accused...even cubana doesn't know the meaning of bail, hence he wouldn't have posted that "money na water "...no one paid any money...it is simply a condition should the accused runs away I bet 99.9 % of nairalanders do not know this It's a lie. The money is paid upfront and only refunded when the court deems it fit. |

No part of my comment says it is bad for Naira to gain value against Dollar. Your sentiment has affected your brain. You're actually the one whose sentiments have affected his reasoning capabilities. jazzman7711: Ridiculous comparison.
India's population is higher than ALL AFRICA.
India has 1.4 billion people.
Africa has 1.2 billion people.
You should compare INDIA with AFRICA, not with Nigeria.
When you compare India with Africa, those indices are a LOT closer.
This is ridiculous.
India's annual budget is AT LEAST 400 BILLION DOLLARS!!!
Nigeria's is roughly 40 billion dollars.
What is the point of your education when simple common sense eludes you? India is currently the most populated country in the world just as Nigeria is the most populated country in Africa, so the "comparison" is in order. And it's not even a full-blown comparison. He was only pointing out how their achievement metrics dwarf Nigeria's own. |

immortalcrown: APC said ₦216 per Dollar was too much. Therefore, no APC government is good unless the regime takes Naira below 260 per Dollar without taking the nation's foreign reserve below what the reserve was during the time of PDP. Praising the government when Naira is 216 per Dollar means praising stagnancy.
Praising the government when Naira is above 216 per Dollar means praising backwardness.
