Christianity EtcRe: Sunday School Lessons: What Do You Gain To Share With Others? by Rexyl(op):
Living as children of God
We have reasons to appreciate God for making us His children. We were once lost in the world because we lived in moral and spiritual darkness and didn't know God. Christian should know and understand what it means to live as children of God. As the children of God our lives must reflect resemblance our Heavenly Father in terms of being godly, truthful, loving and caring for others. 1 John 3:18 - My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. These we have for discussion: God's Children Identified; God's Children Characterised by Holiness, and God's Children Characterised by Love.

God's Children Identified: Children of God should be known for showing divine love to others. With this kind of love believers will like to seek for the lost and give hope to the hopeless. God doesn't want eternal destruction for anyone that is why He provided the means of redemption of souls from this lost world. God transformed our lives and made us His children because He loves us (1 John 3:1-3). Therefore we should share Christ-like love with others. Children of God become more like Christ in all good manners while the world and its lust become unattractive and unacceptable to them. When we walk as Christ walked we will adopt spiritual discipline that purifies the heart and prevents sin. Those who want to live as Children of God must seek to be like Christ.

Living as Children of God discourages acts of rebellion against God. Such sinful acts violate God's commands and cause departure from His way of righteousness. Sinful deeds cannot be repackaged to minimise sin and make it less serious. When the life is completely transformed believer will understand sin and overcome it with the power and righteousness of God (1 John 3:4-6). We must reject sin and seek to remain pure. Lives are cleansed from sin through Christ and believers are enabled to live worthy of the kingdom of God. A lifestyle that shuns sin and pursues Jesus is required to escape the coming judgement and receive salvation.

God's Children Characterised by Holiness: In the presence of God there is no way to cover or justify unrighteousness. Likewise holiness cannot be redefined to accommodate sinful actions and choices, and there is nothing we can do to modify God's standard of holiness and righteousness. As Children of God our lives must reflect inward and outward signs of righteousness that we belong to Christ, and not the devil (1(John 3:7-8 ).

Those who are born of God are not expected to continue in sin. Christians who align themselves with Christ are truly born of God. There will be a change from sinful nature to godly nature the moment a person becomes child of God (1 John 3:9-10). Sinful nature which belongs the devil will always struggle to overcome and destroy the righteous nature, but by the power of Holy Spirit and presence of Christ children of God will overcome.

God's Children Characterised by Love: Children of God must be distinguished from children of the devil. They must reflect the wonderful love of God. They must endure suffering and persecution on behave of others. They must love all people and help them know God, love Him and do His will. Children of God must not hate anyone. Those who hate others are referred to as murderers because they will not wish them well (1 John 3:11-15; Matthew 5:21-22). Also, they complicate issues in the society and add to problems people are facing. Children of God are called to demonstrate godly love through selflessness, humility, sacrifice, compassion and forgiveness.

God wants us to do as He did when He gave His Son as sacrificial offering for renewal of the fallen relationship with the people. He wants us to love as He loves us, therefore we must have compassion and do all we could to meet needs of others. We are also called to show true love in action. When we do all these we will have the confidence of living as children children of God and rest assured of eternity in this fallen world. To God be the glory. Lesson texts: 1 John 3:1-18.

While you may be right, did it occour to you that there maybe circumstances surrounding his negotiations ?

Do not forget that Other people that are not civil servants want something from the government too , something like good roads , water , security , and stuffs .

Imagine, March salary and this is September, that is very wicked , but like i said last week, these same workers enjoyed 13 months salaries and other bonuses two years ago / last year before campaign kicked off , they should try to understand where the governor is coming from
13 month salary means different things to workers in some States. To some it was a bonus while few others saw it as a fraud. They saw it as a bonus at the expense of other benefits!
PoliticsRe: Tension As Governors Sit On Bailout Fund by Rexyl(m):
Someone should pls answer these questions. Is this attitude of governors not corruption? If so is there any punishment for it?

Some governors just decided to lengthen duration of sufferings of their people by fixing the bailout funds until more interests are received as personal gains at the expense of State's workers.

If something is not done on time it would be like the current government sits on corruption while it condemns the act.

The man was crying after realizing he has been caught in a trap while for the woman it is tears of joy for hooking him and tying him down for life.

I remember the little boy who asked his dad 'Papa how much does it cost to marry? His dad replied 'My son you will not understand, till now I am still paying for it' grin grin grin
Really man pays the cost of marriage until death or something else has taken him from the woman!

The man might be crying for commitments and responsibilities ahead while the woman might have remembered her inglorious past.

Spiritual attack? When many believe there is nothing spiritual neither anything is being influenced by it. How come el rufai was scared?

There is a God and gods influencing the universe for specific purposes, whether or not people believe.

It is still functional now but we are saying is rating it amongst the best when 80% of the building are under utilized coupled with the fact that the architectural design was total blunder;

1. No proper set back from the road
2. No lift to access the high rise
3. No vegetation or ornamental plants for its curative input
4. Poor parking space

Infact the list is endless; the fact that the current government negleted it does not change the above out lined deficients
But can any good thing be achieved from the negligence? That's why governments have existed for years without adequate or meaningful development.

We are talking about. Functional Teaching hospital and you are uploading Akala's architectural blunders! Who builds a hospital of high rise uilding without making provision for lifts?

The last time I checked most of the roofs have been blown off same with similar structure in oyo town general hospital!
If that is the case the current administration is to blame for negligence. If you could remember the facilities were accessed and the hospital accredited based on what the panel met on ground then. If anything has gone wrong now, investigate the roles of present administration and know whether it is found wanting or not.

You have a point but my opinion is based on my experience during my NYSC in ibadan. I served indirectly under the Ministry of Agric and I saw the situation in other ministries in Agodi too.
There are level 14 officers selling kunu and doing less than an hour of efficient work daily. It is worse among the low level staff.
If I give clearer examples, I will be casting myself....but I will agree that some places are understaffed while some places need massive retrenchment.
That was then, biometric registration and subsequent verifications have taken care of that since.

At the secretariat in Ibadan, you will find that there are so many people there employed with no particular job description....just like in every other state. If he can retrench those ones, that's ok
You think all people you see in a secretariat are employed by the government? Can you estimate the number of those who have retired since 5 years and compare it with those remaining in service? If you can do this nobody will tell you again that there are numerous vacant positions. More employments and improvements on conditions of service should be the focus, not message of disappointment.

Christianity EtcRe: Sunday School Lessons: What Do You Gain To Share With Others? by Rexyl(op):
Principles of Knowing God
Our understanding of God goes beyond knowing Him as the Creator to knowing His person, His will, His command and His purpose. He gave His commands and demanded our obedience. Our Obedience will bring about a genuine relationship with God. 1 John 2:3 - Hereby we know that we know Him (God), if we keep His commandments. We have the followings for discussion: Obey God's Commandments; Love God, Not the World, and Continue in Christ.

Obey God's Commandments: When we live in obedience to His commands we shall be able to draw closer to Him for a life-changing experience. A genuine relationship with God alters behaviours and changes lifestyle. God demands that people should relate with Him with hearts of love and obedience. It's by doing this that believers can reject sinful lifestyles and overcome deception of devil (1 John 2:3-6).

Christian should live by the word of God. Jesus renewed the covenant and made provision for right right relationship with God. He broke the barrier that had prevented people from having direct access to the presence of God. The barrier is simply identified as sin or darkness. With the appearance of Jesus darkness was dispersed and the evil hidden in it revealed. Jesus is the Light that dispels darkness of sin and makes sin unattractive for those who are truly serving God (1 John 2: 7-14). John encouraged believers to understand and live by the word of God because it would help overcome worldliness.

Love God, Not the World: Christians are to love God and do away with sinful practices. The command to not love the world is to reject immoral behaviour, selfishness and all rebellious acts against God (1John 2:15-17). We must focus on Christ and follow his teachings in order to overcome the world and live as citizens of heaven. Those who love the world prefer worldly values to teachings of the scripture. God wants people to love Him more than the world and walk through His way of life.

Those who know God will have His word well rooted in their hearts. A person will be easily deceived and trapped by false teaching if he doesn't have proper understanding of the word of God. There are people who pretend as preachers of the word but they hold onto false teachings and their aim is to deceive and divert attention of believers from God. Such preachers can profess faith in Christ but their focus is love of the world and its pleasure (1John 2:18-19). They might have even risen from within the Church, but they are enemies of Christ. They want to bring confusion into the Church and mislead believers. False preachers or teachers (those twisting God's word) are 'antichrists'. They are not the same as the 'Antichrist', the demonic leader who will rise up during the 'Great Tribulation'.

Continue in Christ: For believers to continue in Christ they must guard against deception. John called believers' attention to heresy in the church. Heresy is destructive to message of the gospel. The message is a lie and those sharing it are deceivers. Christians need the power of Holy Spirit to enable them discern and disregard such message (1 John 2:20-27). John admonished believers to hold unto the truth they have learned from the beginning. False teachers alters scriptural truth to provide for selfish purposes. Believers should compare any message to the scripture and depend on Holy Spirit to know the truth and abide by it.

John further encouraged believers to stand strong in truth and maintain close relationship with Christ as they anticipate his second coming (1John 2:28-29). The hope and confidence of reigning with Christ are built upon obedience to God's commands and living by truth of His word. To God be the glory. Lesson texts: 1 John 2:1-9.

The man will have stories to tell about his resurrection, though those who couldn't believe in resurrection will make statement to prove the miracle as non existing. I congratulate the man for obtaining mercy to come back to life and amend his relationship with the Creator and others so that salvation of his soul could be justified by stronger faith in God

Jesus, the One that holds the key of resurrection will like that all people make it to God's Kingdom.

Supposedly he was hurriedly buried he might have not gotten the chance again, because judgement follows death, and prayers after death wouldn't save the soul again.

wirinet:
Re-read the Chatem House statement and show me where Buhari outlined his policy thrust, he clearly disowned the 100 days. This is what he said

Let me break it down to you like i am talking to a baby;
1. When we get there we will quickly get correct intelligence of what is on ground, inform Nigerians - This is what Buhari has been doing the pact three months. He is taking an inventory of what is on ground.

2. We will make sure the misappropriation and misapplication of public will not be allowed. This means he will go after the money that has been stolen, not necessarily the thieves. He said you would be surpised how much savings we would realize.

3. He will then plough the recovered funds back into development projects.

These are Buhari's promises and he his pursuing it vigourously dispite all the distractions and wailings by PDP, TANoids and a certain zone of the country.
If these are what PMB means and pursuing them vigorously then the reported and recorded promises of hope and great change within the first hundred days can now be null and viod, and subsequently discarded.

Everyone can now withdraw various allegations against leadership style of the President. But this is a country where people follow events with keen interests and will not want anything to spoil their chances.

Once the vigorous fight against corruption is not biased and yields positive results, and recovered funds are not misappropriated then Nigerians can rest assured that PMB means well. If not he has though time ahead.

Slow and steady wins the race, but that will work if the system is not biased and run in isolation. To achieve success will require services and cooperation of all, not that full benefits are given to certain group of people while others are given a bitter pill.

It seems like the current system and structure doesn't unite Nigerians.
