Rilwayne001: QUESTION THREE
The Jews are still expecting the fulfillment of the prophecy of "unto like Moses." When Jesus said that he is the Messiah of the Jews, they began to inquire about Elias and the prophet. The Jews had a parallel prophecy that before the coming of the Messiah, Elias must come first in his second coming. Jesus confirms this Jewish belief:
Matthew 17:11-13 "...Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. But I say unto you, that Elias is come already, and they knew him not, then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist."

The Jews did not believe Jesus about Elias, so they sent priests and Levites to John the Baptist to ask who he really was:
John 1:20-21 "And he (John the Baptist) confessed and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ. And they asked him, what then, Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No."
Jesus said that Elias came, and it was understood that he was John the Baptist. But John the Baptist denied that.

Who is Eliashuh?
The Jews were waiting for the fulfillment of three
distinct prophecies:
1. The coming of Christ. (We agree that christ is Jesus)

2. The coming of Elias.
3. The coming of that prophet .

And the crucial question here is "Art thou that prophet?"
will you think for God or act on His behalf? It pleases Him to use the foolish thing to confound the wise... because of hardness of hearts and disregard for God He had left some people to struggle with confusion for life. Whether Elias has come or not God has intervened and prevailed with His New Covenant for the world... Christ‘s coming and the New Testament is the final and nothing else except deception. Whatever Christ says is the final. If he had said Elias had come ... that is the final o

Rilwayne001: QUESTION 2
Deuteronomy 18:18: "I will
raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee (Moses), and will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him."

Who is the prophet like unto moses?
Many are the prophets in the Bible that God raised to the status of Moses and even above ... in leadership... prophecy and fulfillment of prophecies among whom Mohammed has no place or relationship...

After Moses were Joshua, David, Elisah, Elijah, Daniel, Ezeikiel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Micah, Nahum, Zachariah and many others who were not in the status of Mohammed - whose coming and work wasn't implied at all in the Bible.

Rilwayne001: QUESTION 1

Lets see how far u can go here;

Matthew 17:11-13. Elias truely shall first come and restore all things. But I say unto you that Elias is come already and they knew him not.
But have done unto him whatsoever they listed likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
Then the disciples understood that He spake unto them of John the Baptist.

John 1:21. And they asked him (i.e John the Baptist), What then? Art thou Elias, and he saith, I am not (Alias)

Kindly explain what happened in the suppose transfiguration of Elias that either John the Baptist or Jesus Christ didn't know.
The one sent to notify people concerning the coming of the SAVIOR. The one whose message is to call people to repentance and to prepare the way of the Lord. ---- the one that testified to the supremacy and divinity of Christ.-----

Can you see the difference? Mohammed is a self acclaimed fake and fascist prophet who crave respect and recognition and allah is not a true God.

Samunique: Pls I'm not here to compete religion with anybody.

I just asked the OP a simple question, u are now asking to tell u two notable people that converted to Christianity.
Do u use question to answer question?
Ok tell me and be honest, with this kind of judgemental and attacking nature of ur sermon against other religions how many converts did u record in your mosque in the last 3months?

That's my question for the OP, and i asked this just to tell him there are better ways to present ur religion than "attacking other's religions".
So u want me to start telling u notable people that converted to Christianity and u will tell me those who converted to Islam.

FYI. We Christians don't make noise like u people, almost every church across the nations of the earth records converts on weekly basis if not daily. But that's not what we are looking at here, what we are looking at is " LET US ALL, BOTH CHRISTIANS AND MUSLIMS STOP THIS HATE PREACHING" let's all learn how to present our religions reasonablely and convincingly as to make people see the reasons they should follow us.
We don't need to kill , maime or attack others in other to make our religion superior to others.

Any religion that cannot convince people without an attack on other religions, trying to look for "or create flaws" in other religions to proof its authenticity is a false religion, it does not have the truth, bcs the truth speaks for itself and always stands out.

I don't know why u people are too insecured about ur religion? If u know it is the truth then allow it to speak for itself.

U shall know the truth and the truth will set u free!!!!
It is the truth indeed that sets someone free from bondage of sin. Being religious (not doing God‘s will) is indeed the bondage that devil has offered the world. something without any profit apart from satisfying the desire of the flesh. killing at least a person for other to fall or bow in a fake worship which seems to be done for God is not from God. God wants a person that has been saved to rise for salvation of others, not destruction of others. God‘s message is - look out for a sinner, preach to him for his possible conversion from doing evil to good and walking with God unto salvation. That is reason why Jesus illustrated the Farther‘s love for sinners with a shepherd that was seriously searching all places for a missing lamb out of the hundred. That shows how a single soul is so previous to God.

EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THAT THE ENTRANCE OF THE WORD OF GOD “CHRIST“ SETS PEOPLE FREE, GIVES LIGHT AND DELIVER PEOPLE FROM THEIR DESTRUCTION.

true2god: The parable of the Frog and the Scorpion:

A frog was
hopping along in the forest,
heading home to her family, when all of
a sudden she came upon a small river.
Now, the frog, being a great swimmer as
frogs are, was about to leap into the river in order to cross it - when she heard a
voice: "Is there any chance, kind lady,
that you
can help me across this river? For I cannot
swim." The frog turned toward the
direction of the voice, and was startled to see a
scorpion moving toward her on the river
bank. Now, everyone knows the history
of scorpions - they sting and have a
deadly poison. So the frog was
understandably a bit frightened, and trembled as she asked the scorpion: "If I
help you across the river, will you
promise not to sting me? You see, I am on
the way home to my family and they
would miss me terribly." The scorpion
answered: "Kind lady, I understand your concern, but
I too am on the way home to my family,
and if I sting you, we would both drown,
and who wants that? Besides, contrary to
what you may have heard, I only sting
for self defense - like if a fox should try to eat me. Please do me this great favor - I
would be so grateful!" The frog
considered the scorpion's words,
which didn't seem like the words of a
killer. She thought to herself: "I mean no
harm to the scorpion, why should he sting me? If he stings me, we will both drown,
and he must value life as much as I. If I
help him, he will be my friend - because
he knows that I am a nice frog. As my
friend, the scorpion would surely tell all
the other scorpions that I am a friend, and that they too should never sting me!
And they wouldn't sting my frog family
or my frog friends either! And we frogs
would be more than happy to help all
scorpions cross the rivers! And maybe all
the scorpions would help protect all the frogs and other small creatures from the
truly dangerous creatures of the forest!"
By this time, the frog was so excited
about helping the scorpion that she didn't
want to even start thinking of reasons
not to help. Besides the danger was too scary to think about - compared to the
wonderful future that awaits the frogs
and other small creatures of the forest
with this new era of cooperation. "It will
truly be a paradise.", she thought. So the
frog crouched down and let the scorpion jump onto her back. She then hopped into
the river with the scorpion on her back
and began swimming - and she swam
beautifully, as frogs do. But when they
got to the middle of the river she felt
something painful in her side. "Ouch!" said the frog, "What was that " "I just
stung you.", said the scorpion. The frog
began to feel the poison take
effect. It became harder for her to move,
harder to swim. She thought about the
paradise of universalistic brotherhood that could have been, and she cried out to
the scorpion: "Why did you do that?! Now
we will both
drown - we could have been friends!
Perhaps you can save yourself; swim to
the other side!" But it was too late, and scorpions can't
swim. As they began to sink, the scorpion
answered: "I am not like you; we don't
care about
dying or making friends. We lie and sting.
It is our nature, didn't you know that?" The frog and the scorpion sank fast to the
bottom of the river, and the frog thought
about the scorpion's question. "Yes.",
thought the frog, still puzzled that
frogs and scorpions should think and act
differently, after all, they are both small creatures of the forest. "Maybe I said or
did something to anger him...?!", thought
the frog. THE END!
In case you don't "get it" here are the
parallels of this parable to Islam and the
rest of us: Scorpions can't swim - it needs to rely on
other creatures; Islam has not succeeded
and cannont succeed without using
others.
The scorpion sought a decptive alliance
with the frog; Islam seeks deceptive alliances with the "infidel." The scorpion
cannot help but lie; Islam
teaches "taqiyya" - lieing to defend or
promote Islam.
The scorpion doesn't care about death;
Islam teaches that death is better than life - it is the nature of it. The frog is
puzzled because he assumed
that both he and the scorpion were alike
- both "small creatures"; Those of non-
Islamic "faith" are puzzled because they
assume they are just like Muslims because Islam is a religion just like theirs.
The Islamist Prime Minister of Turkey
Recep Erdogan is quoted as proclaiming:
"There is no moderate Islam. Islam is
Islam and that’s that. Democracy is like a
bus - you ride it until you arrive at your destination, then you step off.
Assimilation is
a crime against humanity..."
just as countries of the world need one and others to survive people also need the cooperation of one another of the same and different kinds to succeed if not there will always be problems. And problems can not be completely solved without digging into its root.

Christianity Etc › Re: Sunday School Lessons: What Do You Gain To Share With Others? by Rexyl(op):
Today's topic: Requirements for Godly leaders. Being in the position of authority and directing the affairs of others requires competence specified by certain qualifications which are based on relevant training, experience and temperament. God has for years sought for people that will fill positions in His ministry. He is seeking for people to fill openings in His kingdom. As such He provides the requirements for those who are ready to occupy leadership positions and be entrusted with responsibilities. Such requirements are specified in the scriptures. 1 Corinthians 4:2 - It is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. We have the followings for discussion: Standards for Pastoral Leaders, Standards for Lay leader and Standards for Affirming Leaders.

Standards for Pastoral Leaders: Christians are called to minister and share the gospel, but not all are called to Church leadership, and not all are qualified for the positions. Leading and serving people of God is a privilege and a matter of serious commitment and great responsibility which should be tested and scrutinised according to biblical standards. A leader is accountable to God and others. Competence based on talent, charisma, education, communication skill among others are not adequate for a leadership role in the Church, leaders' lives should also agree with the guidelines established in the scriptures.

Apostle Paul mentioned several qualifications for a minister in the Church. These include being righteous, caring, self-controlled, proven leaders and being reputable (1 Timothy 3: 2-7). A righteous minister is the one who should be blameless and without reproach - a leader that must be faithful and remain committed in marriage, that must be what he speaks. A caring leader must have the time to attend to the needs of others, love and give them comfort. A self-controlled leader should be the one that refrains from taking to alcohol, avoid greed and covetousness, eschew violence and rage. A proven leader is the one that has a track of good record. He that is matured and capable. A minister must be reputable, he must be acceptable in all good manners - he that cannot fall to greed, sexual immorality or gross doctrinal error. A leader that will not bring shame on the Church.

Standards for a Lay Leader: Pastors are not the only leaders from whom rigorous standards are expected, deacons and others serving and meeting both physical and spiritual needs of others are saddled with serious responsibilities. All Christians that realize the needs to teach, preach, evangelize and lead others to God must meet His requirements. Church leaders requires the Holy Spirit for direction and enablement to understand, obey and follow the scriptures.

Lay leaders are expected to be Role Models of a good steward and servant. They must be respectable, honest, sincere, people of integrity, who do not play with sin. People who are loving and Christlike, striving for good name and doing all that should be done to earn respect of others. They must be good examples of what Christians should be - very good examples for others to learn from, emulate and follow. Sometimes they can be found serving quietly and diligently in the Church without much notice on them.

Standards for Affirming Leaders: Leaders are to be affirmed by good character and conduct. High standards must be placed on selection of leaders in the Church. Paul insisted that leaders are to be holy, just, sober and temperate (Titus 1:5-8 ) They are representatives of God, entrusted to do His work. God wants his people to be holy and just. As citizens of God's kingdom and children adopted to His family Christians are to reflect God's value, not culture or tradition of people. We must copy and act according to God's standards and characters. Our lives must be suitable for Holy Spirit to live in us.

Leaders must be true to the Word of God. They must be the people of the Word (Titus 1:9). They must zealously defend the gospel against forces seeking to dismiss, misuse, distort and pervert it. The gospel must be taught according to the scriptures. It must not be compromised or altered in any form. Leaders must preserve God's word. God's Word encourages and leads believers unto righteousness. Also, God's Word serves as warning against disobedience to His commands and following the unrighteous deception of Satan. May God help us. Lesson text: Act 6: 1-6; 1 Timothy 3: 1-16; Titus 1:1-16
Christianity Etc › Re: Sunday School Lessons: What Do You Gain To Share With Others? by Rexyl(op):
Last week lesson

Treasuring the Truth in Turbulent times. This lesson is about knowing and keeping the truth according to the scripture. It discusses the knowledge of God's truth we should be armed with as Christians. What is the truth? The Roman Governor - Pilate asked Jesus before he was released to be crucified. But Jesus had earlier declared that he was the truth (John 18:37&38). Also, Jesus had stated convincingly that he is the truth. He said, "I am the way, the truth and the life" (John 14:6). 1 Timothy 4:16 - Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine: continue in them: for in doing this thou shall both save thyself, and them that hear thee. We have the followings for discussion: Reject False Teaching, Perpetuate the Truth and Set a good example.

Reject False Teachings: False teachings aim to entangle erring believers in the snare of doctrinal error in order to make them abandon the truth of the gospel so that they would follow lies that pervert faith and lead people astray. Some people are walking away from the truth because their hearts are hardened and can no longer keep their relationships with God. They have rejected God's correction and could no longer respond to His call for obedience. Continuing in this way makes it difficult to hear from God and enjoy the leading of His Spirit. When people refused to be led by God's truth they will be free for lies and manipulations of Satan.

False teachers and false teachings will definitely arise but what matters is how we respond as Christians. Knowing what to do has to do with how closer to God ( thru obedience, prayer, Bible study and fellowship with other believers) we are. Some false teachers are distorting the gospel thus making people to follow rules not prescribed by Jesus and the Apostles (1 Timothy 4: 3-5). Such rules forbids marrying and eating certain foods. Such restrictions are based on their beliefs that all physical matters are inherently evil. Those restrictions are against the scriptures and do not draw us closer to God (1 Corinthians 7:28; 8:8; Colossians 2: 20-23). Salvation is made available by God's grace through obedience to God command. There is striking difference between obedience to God and following list of human regulations. Human regulations could be burdensome but obedience to God' commands leads to blessings. False teachings leads to bondage but grace gives the freedom to live for God and experience His best for our lives.

Perpetuate the Truth: We should grow in godliness in order to be Christians that can promote sound doctrine (1 Timothy 4: 6-8 ). As recipients of God's grace we have the responsibility to share the truth that has brought us to Christ's saving knowledge. Paul encouraged Timothy to remain focused in the faith and train himself in godly living. The training is compared to physical exercise that promotes fitness of an athlete for success in a race. Likewise the spiritual exercise promotes eternal values for us to be in Christ and preserve our souls for eternal glory. Godliness is achieved as we strive to live for God and serve Him with all our hearts. We must invite Holy Spirit to live in us and prepare us for eternal values through sanctification.

We are commanded to teach the gospel. Just as Paul was commissioned and inspired to teach God message we are to do what the Bible wants for the world: teach and preach God's will (Timothy 4:9-11). The Bible is not based on myths or fantasies. It is reliable, trustworthy and worthy of attention of all. It is God's word. It makes connection with God possible and provides the way to eternity. It is about Christ's death and resurrection which makes salvation available to mankind.

Set a Good Example: Paul spoke of how to be a good example of the believers ((1 Timothy 4:12), good Christian must be a man of compassion and integrity who is effective in the ministry. He warned against the pitfalls of seeking to please man (esp by delivering the good will messages for popularity) rather than God in the ministry. Christians are encouraged to respond in good faith to Criticisms. We should check the various ways we are guilty of allegations and open our lives to God for corrections in all areas we are not like Christ instead of responding just anyhow.

Christians are to persevere in holiness and follow Paul's encouragement to Timothy (Timothy 4: 13-16). We are encouraged to be devoted to reading and preaching, and guard the gospel against all attempts to deny, change or pervert it. Paul also instructed Timothy to keep fellowship with God and reminded him not to be content to live in the past. Christians need a fresh touch of God's anointing and renewal of strength. We can receive this when we set time apart to hear from God, meditate in His word daily and allow Him to renew us from inside out. May God help us. Lesson text: 1 Timothy 4:1-16.

There has been serious data loss. There has been loss of some vital information from the thread. Hope such will not happen again
Christianity Etc › Re: The Light Of Islam (by An Ex-christian) by Rexyl(m):
Rilwayne001: Within the multitude of religions that exist in the world today are three which consider themselves tocbe monotheistic--that is, faiths in which belief is centered around the One God.

A closer look, at two of these religions--Judaism and Islam- will show this to be true: both Jews and Muslims worship One God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth.

The other religion, that of Christianity, presents a problem, however, when it comes to the definition of monotheism as opposed to what Christianity stands for. Instead of making God the center of their faith, the Christians have turned their focus on Jesus, who is known to them as "Jesus Christ", or "Jesus the Anointed One". To the Jews, Jesus was "a nice Jewish boy"; to the Muslims, Jesus was a human prophet; one of God's Chosen Messengers. To the Christians, however, Jesus is much!!! more.

Christianity is focused on Jesus Christ. The religion takes its name from Jesus Christ. All Christian doctrines are centered Wxaround Jesus Christ. Major Christian holidays mark events in the life of Jesus Christ. The symbol of the Christian faith, a cross, is indicative of Jesus Christ. Prayers of the Christians
are addressed to Jesus Christ, as they consider God Himself to be unapproachable by a mere man.

According to Christian author Fritz Ridenour, "the key to Christianity is that Jesus Christ really is the reason for it all and that he is holding it all together."[1]

Many Christians today are unable to comprehend the existence of God without Jesus Christ standing there in the foreground for them. Mr. Ridenour says that Christianity is " .. a relationship with a person, Jesus Christ"[2], and all too many Christians are in this position: they know God in no other way but through Jesus Christ.

The Christians say they worship God, but Jesus is also right there in the picture. As they see him-- in addition to God--as being divine, Christianity is a religion with TWO gods, not one;and a religion with more than one God is not monotheistic. How did this situation come to be? How did the religion of Christianity turn a human prophet from God into a god himself?
you miss it here.

No thanks to the data loss, you could have learnt, understood and known how to get along with Christian faith from various insights into the Bible so that you might understand what TRINITY means.

Where your leaders get it right praise them to do better and achieve more, but where they are not forthcoming criticise them until they respond to doing the correct thing. It is doing like this that is normal. I wouldn't know why development on the road doesn't please you. People that wants progress should live as good citizens.

Praying that these heartless people stop their evils as soon as possible and peace a and normalcy return to the part of the North. These people should have been done of self-inflicted destruction. For what reason they have continued and gone so far with killing and destruction of innocent souls? Enough of shedding of innocent blood over there.

meaning... more people are knowing you by your fruit and they will definitely place you where you belong ...
you are talking about killing when people are taking time to discuss matters from inside out. you are telling them that you have reserved a permanent place for yourself in the darkness which people should not attempt to talk about... Or what do you mean?

Omooba77: Lara Wise :Dear Fasting Christian,
How is it going?
Uhn?
The Lord strengthen you and accept your fast, amen.
But let me quickly share something with you, may I?

Matthew 4:1-3
This is the account of Jesus' first temptation as recorded in The Bible.
Note that Jesus never attracted the attention of satan prior to this period.
Satan was doing his thing, Jesus was doing His,
UNTIL Jesus decided to fast and pray, then satan caught a whiff...
Satan tempted Jesus at fasting and prayer time.
It is important to note, dear friends, that temptation is greatest at fasting and prayer time.
There is no time You command the Attention of hell as much as the time when you humble yourself before God in prayer and fasting.
That is the time the flesh is subdued and the spirit man is energized.
The devil will attack you with every might he has and with the weight of everything in the world as explained in 1John 2:16 "...the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life..."
These were the three broad areas of temptation for Jesus.
And this is not just for the period of the mass fast as called for by our various churches, this is even our personal and individual fasts.
The good news is His grace, exceeding Grace I available for us.
He overcame, so shall we.
He did not cave in, we shall not as well.
Be watchful
Be vigilant
Be sensitive.
God bless.
Omooba77: Lara Wise: It has begun.
The season of fasts.
Usually embarked upon by churches at the beginning of the year.
I am told the Redeemed Christian Church begins a 100-day fast today.
Other churches begin next week.
Brilliant!
It is important, dear Christians that we be well guided.
That we do not jump on the band wagon.
That we understand God's instruction and template for a true and acceptable fast.
It is possible to embark on a long fast and not get results if we do not follow His manual as laid down in Isaiah 58:3-14.
Basically, that scripture says when you fast, and you want to see results,
# loose the bonds of wickedness
# undo heavy burdens
# let the oppress ego free
# share your bread with the hungry
# bring the poor who are cast out to your house
# cover the naked
Anything short of these will be mere hunger strike or an attempt to show off or to loose some weight.
Don't hoard food till its 6pm when you are expected to break your fast.
As we fast, Let the 'Chrustmas love and sharing' continue.
Give out.
Help.
Show love.
Surprise the destitutes.
The results?
The result begins from verse 8....
(Read it up)
May our fast not be a mere hunger strike.
May this year's mass fast be acceptable to God and may it produce the desired results in our lives and nations.
Amen.
Happy fasting!!!
(If there's any such salutation, lol. )
Many Churches and Christians are currently united in spirit for prayer and fasting, definetly in the end there will be a powerful shaking and something will move supernaturally.

luluosas: My dear friend, don't let their attitudes offset you at all. They know themselves of whom the bible spoke about. Proverbs 26:5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.
Romans 1:28 further says something about them - these people rejecting God and His knowledge.
