Ecstasy154: The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Tuesday said majority of the persons who participated at the Peoples Democratic Party presidential rally which held in Sokoto were from neighbouring Niger Republic. The governor, a member of the ruling party, APC, disclosed this during an inauguration of his campaign commitee in Kaduna. The PDP launched its zonal presidential rally in Sokoto on Monday for the North-west. Thousands of people attended the rally which was addressed by the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar; the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal; and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara. However, according to Mr El-Rufai, many of those that attended the rally were from neighbouring Niger Republic. Mr El-Rufai said the PDP brought these people to show that they have supporters and ”because Sokoto indigenes refused to attend the rally.” He said his governing party, All Progressives Congress (APC), will not allow looters and criminals return to power in 2019. The governor vowed ”to go after each vote during the election” to ensure that Kaduna delivers in 2019. He explained that the ideology of the ruling party and President Muhammadu Buhari is not to share public funds to few individuals ”but to work and improve the lives of the ordinary Nigerians.” “Thieves have ganged up against President Muhammadu Buhari. Yesterday (Monday) they (PDP) went to Sokoto for a rally and brought in people from Niger Republic,” the governor said. ”This was to show that they have crowd because Sokoto people refused to attend.” “Our people should be assured that the very day Buhari will come to Kaduna, all our people that will receive him will be Kaduna indigenes and not people from Niger. “We will fight for every vote and persuade our people that you will only secure victory for the party you support when you vote on election day,” he said. The governor also added that Kaduna has about 500,000 new voters, with Kaduna North Local Government Area recording 60,000 voters alone. He also flayed the PDP saying in its16 years of governance, the party “left more than 400 primary schools of the state in a very bad condition.” The PDP governed Kaduna from 1999 to 2015 before Mr El-Rufai of the APC defeated the then incumbent PDP governor. Mr El-Rufai charged his campaign team members to go down to the grassroots to mobilise people to come out and vote on election day. “We must run a grassroots campaign to mobilise our supporters on election day. We will not vote for hypocrites, we will not vote for criminals and we will not vote for those who cannot afford to ‘barb’ their hair,” he said.

Politics › Re: I Will No Longer Complain About The Problems I Inherited - Buhari by rhames(m): 9:10pm On Dec 04, 2018 |
chinwe1960: President Muhammadu Buhari says he has resolved to stop complaining about the problems his administration inherited when it came into office.
Buhari said he “asked for it” by relentlessly vying for office four times before emerging president in 2015.
He made the comments while speaking with a cross-section of Nigerians in Poland on the sidelines of the global summit on Climate Change.
The president said: “We inherited so many problems. Actually, I have said I will not complain because I asked for it. I tried to become President three times and I lost, but I was lucky the fourth time, I became one, so I can’t complain”
“Who asked me to do it again? Three times I ended up in the Supreme Court. The third time, I said, ‘God dey’ and the fourth time, God and technology, using the permanent voter card and the card readers, they couldn’t rig the elections; so I won.”
Speaking on the security situation in the country, Buhari said significant progress has been made in the war against insurgency.
He said Boko Haram insurgents have been able to launch attacks in recent months because “they know the area more than the soldiers”.
Buhari said: “Those in the north-east will tell you that before we came, the so-called Boko Haram used to hold about 17 local governments. Now, physically, they are not holding any local government. So they have resorted to real guerilla tactics of hit and run.
“They mobilise, hit targets and then disappear again because they know the area more than the soldiers that are defending them. Our soldiers are from Port Harcourt, Lagos, Sokoto, but they are locally there and know the terrain more than the soldiers.”

Govt will procure modern fighting equipment to end Boko Haram madness – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari and his entourage on Wednesday arrived Maiduguri, the Borno state capital to attend the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Annual Conference.
Although, it was not the first time visit of Mr. President to the State since he assumed office in 2015, but this would be a special one where Buhari and his entourage would pass through the city of Maiduguri with virtually all major streets closed down for motorists amidst tight security.
The President is in Borno State to declare the Conference open which was originally slated for Benin, Edo State.
The Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima received the President at the Maiduguri International Airport around 11:30am.
The President proceeded to the Palace of His Royal Highness, the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi and paid the Monarch a courtesy call, after which, he proceeded to the venue of the Conference at the Command Guest Inn, Baga Road, Maiduguri to flag off the Conference.
While at the Shehu’s palace, HRH, thanked the president for the visit and federal government’s concerted effort in the fight against Boko Haram.
He assured that the traditional institutions would continue to give their maximum support in the fight against terrorism in the country.
In his welcome address, the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan Ali said, the Conference usually brings serving and retired Commanders and other Security agencies to brainstorm on the state ongoing operations against terrorists and other criminals in the country.
He expressed gratitude to President Buhari for giving enormous support to the military forces to confront series of security challenges bedevilling some parts of the country, especially north east and the Lake Chad Region.
The Minister also commended the service chiefs and other stakeholders for their unrelenting efforts in the fight against Boko Haram and other related security challenges confronting the country. He therefore called for a coordinated joint operations amongst the security agencies to ensure total peace in the land.
Dan Ali however prayed God to grant eternal live to the souls of gallant officers and soldiers who paid a supreme price to restore peace in the north east and the country in general.
Governor Shettima in his brief remarks commended all security agencies and members of the Civilian JTF towards degrading remnants of Boko Haram terrorists in the north east.
He said, before the coming of President Buhari, virtually all major roads leading to Maiduguri were deathtrap, as nobody venture to move out of the city by few kilometres away without being confronted or attacked by insurgents, noting that the present administration came as a saving grace to people of the state.
He pledged that his door would continue to remain open for all security agencies so that the support needed to end the lingering crisis of insurgents would be given necessary consideration by his administration.
He cited poverty, illiteracy, and climatic and other changes in the lake Chad region responsible for emergence of Boko Haram, which according to him, if not properly addressed, youths may become easily convinced join Boko Haram and other nefarious activities.
President Buhari who is the Special Guest of Honour while declaring the Conference opened, commend the leadership of Nigerian Army for moving out the Conference earlier slated to hold in Edo to Maiduguri.
He noted that his administration would continue to give its maximum support to the military, adding that one of the cardinal objectives of this government is to ensure adequate security of lives and property of the citizenry.
“This Conference is timely, considering fact that this government is determined to end security challenges in the North East, Niger Delta and farmers/herdsmen clashes in some parts of the country.
” I want to convey our deep condolences to the families of heroic gallant officers and soldiers who paid the supreme price while maintaining law and order in our fatherland.
“As we approach the 2019 general elections, I want to urge members of our security forces to remain non partisans and leavel up to the expectations on the rules of engagements.
” I want to specifically condole with family of late General Idris Alkali and the Nigerian Army for his untimely death in the hands of some evils doers, as government, I want to assure you that we are doing everything possible to bring the perpetrators to book.
“As President and by the powers conferred on me, I assured you that government will procure modern fighting equipment end madness of Boko Haram and other acts if our enemies. I want to also assure you that government is doing everything to increase the welfare of our Nigerian Army”. Buhari stated.

Politics › Re: We’ll Miss 2019 Target For Refineries’ Revamp – Kachikwu by rhames(m): 11:08am On Nov 27, 2018 |
nwakibie3: ’Femi Asu
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, has said the plan to get the nation’s ailing refineries to work at almost full capacity will not materialise by 2019.
Kachikwu stated this on Monday in Lagos at the 18th edition of the International HSE Biennial Conference on the Oil and Gas Industry in Nigeria organised by the Department of Petroleum Resources, in conjunction with other stakeholders.
Last year, the minister vowed to resign if the country failed to attain self-sufficiency in the refining of petroleum products by 2019.
When asked to state the year that Nigeria would be self-sufficient in refining petroleum products, Kachikwu, who was a guest on BBC Hard Talk in London on May 22, 2017, replied, “I have said 2019, and that is the target that I gave.”
Earlier on May 4, 2017, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation expressed commitment to actualise the December 2019 target set by the Federal Government to end the importation of petroleum products into the country.
The Group Managing Director, NNPC, Dr Maikanti Baru, was quoted in a statement as saying at the Nigeria Oil Industry Award Dinner during the Offshore Technology Conference 2018 in Houston, United States, that measures had been taken to achieve the target.
He explained that in terms of refining and production of local petroleum products, the ongoing arrangement with the original builders of the refineries to return them to at least 90 per cent capacity utilisation before the 2019 deadline was still intact.
Kachikwu said on Monday in a keynote address that 10 out of the over 40 licensed modular refineries had got into serious work, with three likely to come on stream towards the end of next year.
He said work was ongoing on the four refineries owned by the NNPC, adding, “Hopefully in the next board meeting next week, we will be able to come to final landing on the commercial terms for those investments. If we do, that brings in the processing of 445,000 barrels of crude.
“Even though I had wanted in my usual bullish nature to get this thing driven so that we can have all the refineries working by end of 2019, obviously it will slip a bit. But what is important that we must begin the process. We are going to deliver those barrels refined by 2020, so be it.”
On the refinery being built by Aliko Dangote in Lagos, with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the minister said, “We are working very hard with him on it.”
The PUNCH reported on November 8, 2019 that the proposed rehabilitation of the nation’s refineries had suffered delays as the third-party financiers for the project had yet to be announced, more than a year after the NNPC said 28 firms had expressed interest in its financing.
Nigeria has four refineries, two in Port Harcourt and one each in Kaduna and Warri, with an installed capacity of 445,000 bpd, but they have continued to operate far below the installed capacity for many years.
https://punchng.com/well-miss-2019-target-for-refineries-revamp-kachikwu/ Uncle Ibe, respect yourself and resign from this government before they destroy your career. Engr Joseph Makoju left government to work for Dangote and he is doing well. Please go back to the oil industry and lend your talents there. Let the FG decide what to do with these stoves called refineries. We have had more than twenty TAM on the refineries and done so many expansions and even the latest of them is not working at full capacity. Does it portray the government and leaders as a serious entity. If they cant manage it, they should sell these STOVES to willing buyers who will run it like an enterprise. |

Politics › Re: Buhari’s Govt Ignored Intelligence Warnings About Boko Haram, Says S’african Mer by rhames(m): 11:54pm On Nov 26, 2018 |
iammo: In short simple terms, buhari needs to rehire your company to help us fight boko haram? And the best time to reiterate this point is when Nigeria just lost some of our gallant fighters?.
I hope Us army also called him for a contract hire when they lost 4,424 men in Iraq and 2,372 in Afghanistan .
Our gallant men of the Nigerian Army had held our territory safe this past few years without the capture of any territory, with their sweat and blood. They get ambushed and killed due to lack of supplies for their hardwares rather than find a way to support them and boost their morales.. We are thrashing them by supporting this jobbers
Its very clear that boko haram has turned into a billion dollars industry with many benefactors(like the arms dealers, meceneries, defense contractors and corrupt government officials) and Nigerians the sole lossers (same losers still politicising it out of sheer ignorance).
One thing is certain about northeast, they have the violence ideology, and no amount of war can change it. They were the same matersina sect of the 80s, they had another one in the 90s and now 2012 till date, this are different Generation with same ideology.
Should we continue paying meceneries for a recurrent problem, since Goodluck paid in dollars few days to 2014 election, Buhari should also pay some days to 2019 elections. When are we going to end such cycle. Who even know if the beneficiary of the war are the ones arming boko haram Nigerian leaders dont learn from past mistakes or anywhere because their sense of reasoning is around how they will milk the country dry and set up shop abroad or even ship trilllions of dollars abroad. They are always selfish. The current spate of violence in and around our borders are an amalgam of three things: political expediency of the principal actors and politicians who financed not only Boko Haram but other local groups like Yandaba (Kano), YanKalare (Bauchi) Kato da Gora (Kaduna), Yan Shara (Kaduna) and others alike: the complicity of Nigerian leadership in the death of these slain heroes and the international conspiracy to dismember the country by the world powers led by USA,France and their EU/NATO counterparts. 1.) Boko Haram would have been history if their leader Mohammadu Yusuf was alive. Instead someone high up ordered his official murder only for the military who caught him alive and handed him over showed evidence with a photo to that effect. The responsibility of his death has not been borne by anyone but fingers point of the then chief executive of that state Modu Sheriff and the Inspector General at that time in order to cover the atrocities the sect has committed in the name of politics. They were used as tools for political oppression, intimidation and murder of political opponents with a guise, using religion as cover. A first hand warning was sounded by Senator Jerry Useni and the Arewa Consultative Forum when they visited the state under the former ceo. He warned his host then that the sect was getting out of hand and that he should move to empower them instead of using them for political gains. He turned a deaf ear and today we have ISWA and other groups. The Iranians are also not left out with Shiites taking over every single state in the North. They dont just do that. The Iranians are financing the Shiites ideology with billions of dollars distributed to the adherents to the cause all over the world. The same model is used by governors in this country to suppress opposition and continually entrench themselves in power. Sadly it backfires and continues to haunt them after they leave the comfort and security of State Government House. 2.) Defence experts have called on the Federal Government sverally to change the leadership of the Nigerian Defence team led by the COAS and CDS in order to give way for new ideas and new strategies, proper evaluation of SWOT and moving the war to the most logical possible conclusion and again giving confidence to the troops and providing them with the best and up to date equipment. BH is winning the war for the simple reason that the Nigerian states' leadership is either playing politics with the life of its citizens or is not open to change in the enumerated above. No matter how you appreciate the issues on ground, the Nigerian intelligence services has taken last in this war and in the 21st Century, we are still fighting a serious war with dane guns. Why wont the country lose troops in large numbers when a BH soldier owns surface to air missile,a tank destroyer and a plethora of other sophisticated weapons against a Nigerian soldier who has only an AK47 and a few grenades? Besides, there has been more mutinies, open mutinies in the army under the Buhari administration than at any other time in the history of Nigeria. Not even during the civil war. The only thing these young men and women who are serving the country want is sophisticated weapons , more motivation and finance and quick payments of their entitlements to the next of kin and beneficiaries not playing politics with their lives and future on television and on social media. The question is why is the Buhari administration ignoring the call for change? 3.) President Barrack Obama was the first who suggested to the US Congress and defence industry and stated categorically that his country and its allies want to break Nigeria by 2015. That was actually practiced in their war games sometimes in 2010 and 2012. That prediction almost came true and that disaster was averted when President Goodluck Jonathan Conceded the elections to President Muhammadu Buhari that year. That particular scenario may play out in 2019 and only a miracle will stop it. Much as we believe in prayers, we should also work for prayers to work by implementing strategies that will be Blessed by Almighty God rather than using religion and ethnicity/tribalism to cover for attrocities. Nigerian leaders have not understood the power our country wields economically, militarily and otherwise on the African continent and among members of the black race. The presence of these American military bases over Africa means our power have waned in Africa. American drone stations in Niger, Ghana, Tchad and Cameroon and French military bases/support to their former colonies suggests that Nigeria is technically under attack and the likes of the Fulani herdsmen defended by the President and Boko Haram are their proxies in this war. Otherwise, what explains the reason why the US will not build a base in Nigeria. The Libyans understood this very well by These countries will not put their soldiers in harms but will do so using these drone stations and spy stations to transmit intended targets to their Headquarters in these respective countries. Lets pray and make our country work. |

When the former CBN Governor Charles Soludo introduced his thirteen point agenda and implemented only four before throwing in the towel to political pressure, everyone including the masses of this country failed to see his intentions. I will even subscribe to the fact that MTN should send this banks out of existence as they are leeches feeding on free government money. Mind you, the mobile payment/money capital of Africa is Kenya. How have Nigerian banks fared in these term. |
