Food › Re: Lagos Seizes Expired Fish From Indian Company by rhames(m): 6:55pm On Feb 18, 2016
Last2comment:
Operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Lagos State Police Command and officials of the State Ministry of Health on Tuesday sealed off a fish depot for warehousing expired fish at Oba Akran Road, Ikeja, Lagos.
The depot, belonging to an Indian company, Premier Fish Product Limited, allegedly stored over N700 million worth of expired fish.
The company had been under surveillance for about two weeks, the police said in a statement on Tuesday.
“The lid was finally blown yesterday by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, following a tip off from sources that the company was revalidating the expiry dates of the stock,” the police statement said.‎
The Lagos State health officials on Tuesday inspected four cold rooms of the company containing several tons of fish before sealing off the company.
An environmental health officer, Kuforiji Adebayo, who led officials from the Ministry of Health, said the state government was sealing off the cold room to pave way for thorough laboratory test of the fish found in the cold room.
“This place is being sealed off for health analysis,” Mr. Adebayo said.
“The samples of the consignment being taken are for laboratory analysis. What we have met on ground physically is highly suggestive of the fact that there are questionable practices here as most of the fish has expired.
“What we have established here is a deceit and fraudulent activity,” he said.
Mr. Adebayo also said they discovered the company was revalidating the expiry date of its products.‎
‎”What we have seen indicates the condition of the fish was not okay before being frozen. That is why there are blood stains in the cartoon of the fish.
“If the labels are being changed now, the impression it leaves is that the labels might have been changed before the investigations,” he said.
The company management, however, insisted it was not revalidating its products’ expiry dates, adding that the products – which are to expire in March 2016 – would be sold off before expiry date.
According to the depot manager, Sabir Alli, the stickers that littered the corridor to the cold rooms fell off because of the shifting of fish cartoons to create space for accommodation of new consignment.
The spokesperson of Lagos State Police Command, Dolapo Badmus, confirmed the incident, saying a staff of the company alerted the police of the development.
“We got a call that they were revalidating the products yesterday and we decided to swing into action.
“This was confirmed by a lot of the stickers found in the lobby with March 2016 as expiry date,” said Ms. Badmus.

And as usual the, the investigations end there and the criminals never prosecuted. If a Nigerian did that, he will be on network news.

The president can remove the CBN governor by an address to the senate stating the governor has been found guilty of gross misconduct and of course, with the approval of two third of members of the senate.

If this news is true, PMB should please appoint an Economist as the new CBN governor. We don't need another deposit money bank MD as CBN governor at this point in time. We need a governor that can think through monetary policies before deciding on them.
Quite true.

I think its time to appoint an economist because another banker in the saddle will mean disaster for the nation. They are good at covering each others tracks and will not do a nything to hurt the policies that benefit them collectively.

This is to inform all Glo subscribers that the 1.5 gig data bundle introduced to android phones users is totally a scam!

I ignorantly purchased Glo sim card to enjoy the awoof offer of 1.5gig for #1000 from Glo, to my greatest surprised I discovered that; I can't download, surf on net. Even when I called customer care line for about 3 times to fix the probs, they were unable to provide any solution to it.

Have been so devastated and angry with myself for been deceived.

Moreover,Sometimes when I on the data connectivity both the 2G and 3G network won't appear for 10-20 mints, even when it appears, it will be as useless as not switching on the data connection.

At first I thought the problem was with my phone, not until I tried other network especially Etisalat, that I now discovered that Glo scammed Nigerians.

I don't know if they reduced the speed of the network? or something else. The most annoying part is that, my data will soon expire in few days time and I still have about 60% of my data still hanging(unused).
what device are u using?

Some old devices dont stream with Glo network. That i know for sure.

Pastor Adeboye Of RCCG Shocks Everyone As He Talks About His Impending Death

The annual Holy Ghost Congress of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) ended with cold biblical references by the General Overseer, Pastor E.A Adeboye about death which left his audience in cold shock.

Millions of worshippers in attendance roared in disapproval as Pastor Adeboye, hinted at his possible passing.

The one-week programme ended on Saturday, with a three-in-one service, comprising anointing, communion and impartation. Ministering on the transfer of anointing, Adeboye said he would not be too young at 73 to go back to his creator. He would be 74 in March.

He was explaining why the transferred anointing is always more potent than the index case, using Moses and Elijah as examples. Using the scripture, Adeboye pointed that where Moses, who got his anointing directly from God failed, Joshua, who got his fire from Moses, excelled.

He also cited the case of Prophet Elijah who performed 7 miracles while Elisha who got his anointing from Elijah when God was taking him away, performed 14 miracles.

Adeboye equally explained that the beneficiaries got the transferred anointing when their masters were about passing away.

He said he would anoint his wife and other very senior pastors who, in turn, would anoint other pastors, from where the worshippers would experience their own anointing fire.
After the explanation, he looked at the congregation and said:

"you may be wondering if I am about to go. Will it be too early for a 73-year-old man to die? If I go now, who will say it is too early? "

At this point, the worshippers, who were at the beginning rejecting his passing in a murmur, roared their disapproval loudly from all the four corners of the new auditorium.

Smiling, Adeboye added, “I am not too young to die.” Again, the crowd screamed their disapproval.

He later calmed everyone down, saying:

"okay, it is not now (I’m not dying now)."
To which the crowd roared a thunderous “Amen.”

Politics › Re: Soldiers Remove Veil From Muslim In Lagos‎ - The whistle by rhames(m): 6:39pm On Jan 10, 2016
lolaxavier:
Hijab Ban: Soldiers Publicly Remove Veil From Muslim Woman In Lagos

Some unidentified soldiers on Friday forcefully removed the veil, popularly referred to as Niqab, from a Muslim woman at Meran Area of Lagos.‎

It was gathered the woman was going peacefully when two soldiers stopped and began to allegedly harass her.

According to an eyewitness, identified as Adetutu, it took the intervention of passersby and sympathisers for the Muslim woman to get her veil back.

Apart from the removal veil on Friday, two images had earlier been sighted separately at Ibadan.

One of the images seen and allegedly signed by ‘Federal Government’ at University College Hospital, Ibadan read,”Wearing of long hijab is prohibited in government establishment for security reasons”.

It will be recalled that this is happening few weeks to the comment that Federal Government may ban Hijab by President Muhammadu Buhari.

President Buhari while ‎commenting on the continued blasts in the North-East during his maiden media chat last Wednesday said, “We will have to consider banning of the Hijab if this (the suicide attacks) continues.”

But on Friday (January 1), the President through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in a press release denied insinuations that his administration had plans to ban Hijab.

While describing Hijab as the Muslim women’s dressing symbol of modesty, Buhari’s spokesperson added, “Everything will be done to balance national security requirements with the rights and obligations of citizens under their religions as protected by the constitution.”‎‎

The eyewitness, who described the the removal of the Hijab as an embarrassing sight and injustice, urged the Federal Government to make an official pronouncement stating that the hijab has not been banned to avert further chaos.

While narrating how the Hijab was removed, Adetutu said, “I arrived at the Meiran Bus Station to board a bus when I saw three armed military men stop a Muslim woman who was putting on ta black attire and a face veil. One of them confronted her asking why she used the face veil.

“The woman was surprised and helpless. Almost immediately he (one of the soldiers) turned up her face veil to reveal her face.

“The woman who felt ashamed only looked and could do nothing because the soldiers were heavily armed.

“After one of the soldiers revealed her face, another soldier forcefully removed the veil from her saying ‘This thing is not allowed in our country. You can use it in your house but not here’.

“He (the soldier) took the veil and was about leaving with it. All the woman could do was to plead with him to at least release the veil to her.

“After harassing her in such a way that called attention of passersby, he (the soldier) returned the veil to her and she quietly left almost shedding tears.”

Reacting to the pasting of a message to prohibit Hijab at UCH Ibadan, Amir of Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, UCH branch, Adam Hamzah said, “This is yet another reflection of open hatred of Islam. However, i want to urge our sisters to entertain no fear in showcasing the beauty of Islam through their Hijab. After all, they realised the essence of their existence unlike those who walk about in nudity.

“It is therefore imperative not to allow this issue derail us from the golden path. I am glad to inform you that MSSN at the branch, state, zonal and national levels is currently working assiduously to put a stop to this oppression.

“Several notable Muslim personalities have been duly informed about the issue. This is with a view to ensuring that our SON sisters enjoy not only using Hijab in the hostel but also on the wards. I therefore charge us to join hands in making this a reality.”

On her part, the Amirah of MSSN Lagos, Hajia Hafsoh Badru lamented many people have started harrasing female Muslims on Hijab.

She added, “It is regrettable that such statement was made at a period when Muslim sisters are facing tough times in practising their religion. We are sure that the Presidency is not unaware of the continuous denial of Muslim students to use Hijab as guaranteed by the Nigeria constitution and United Nations Charter on Human Rights.

“We hope that the earlier statement by the President won’t serve as a means for some bad eggs in governance to punish and harass females in Hijab or label them wrongly. We sincerely appeal to the president to mandate the Ministry of Information and other necessary agencies to release a circular that will guarantee female Muslims right to wear Hijab on the street, in schools and during their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).”

Nigeria is the only country that has not banned Hijab and Niqab in hw whole of the West African region since the Mali hotel attacks. Will it be too extreme to obey the law under these circumstances of ours where a person will just destroy lives and property in the name of religion? Let us consider that pleasse. Even in the most Muslim of countries, religious laws are bent to sometimes for the security of lives and property. There are other ways to be religiously and modestly dressed not only in this mode only. A woman can just use a simple long veil to cover her body.

Hakeem was a friend and a confidant. He was a star in a constellation and a man of integrity. He was an officer and a gentleman. He was a friend.

We both attended and graduated on the same day from Nawair Ud Deen Society Arabic School in October 1986. I will never forget his personal photograph which I still have till today. Back then he was one of reserved ones in class. He lost his father at a young age and that was tough for him but he trudged on to achieve much in life.

At his commissioning as an officer in 1998, I was one of those who praised his achievements then. On many occassions when we crossed paths, we shared our pains and gains as brothers.

Unfortunately this is the end of the journey for him.He died in the service of our dear country Nigeria.

May Allah have mercy on his soul, grant him peaceful rest in his grave and grant him Paradise. May Allah grant his entire family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Adieu Hakeem.

Why was the Book of Enoch removed from the bible?
I did do a little research before posting my question and found out that only the Ethiopian Christians kept it, that Jews rejected it because it......
well the thing is that fragments of it were found in the Dead Sea Scrolls. It seems like an authentic part of the Old Testament and only Ethiopians have...
But even the accepted Genesis which Christians accept says angels from heaven had children with earthly female humans, so the book of Enoch only expands on...
The original book of Enoch is written in a mixture of Ge'ez (or something like that spoken in Ethiopia), Aramaic and Latin. Lets share what we know about it
The same goes for the rest of books refferd to as " The Apocrypha" or Forbidden Books.
