Well, you can't rule out the fact that some people can be mischevious esp for selfish interest. Some guys will hide their erectile dysfunction problem so as to marry without hindrance, I've also seen cases where the woman hid the existence of her son just to be married off. Something similar happened to me but what was her defence? "You didn't ask"
