Who else nearly got a migraine trying to wrap his or her around the web of family linage.

Uncle papa cousin wife sister
I think I am the last person that can comprehend that honestly... Trying to understand that was like trying to understand our Econometrics lecturer those days in the afternoon grin

Yes oo.. same thing I told one elderly man that I sought for advise but the man still insists that the girls is my relatives hence I can't marry her
<<<I just wanna add one more thing based on what you have written here...

<<< you came from a tribe and your tribe got heritage and legacies that they have been protecting for long..(it might be good or bad practice). But those were your pride and identity...

<<<It will be very unwise to seek an advise from an Hausa, Igbo, idoma, ibibio or any other tribe here on Nairaland because their own culture, and practices might be different from yours...

<<< Meet the elders that have the same cultural heritage with you and ask questions...

All the best... Don't forget to send the invitation cards smiley ...

Thanks for your contribution. She is not my cousin in real sense. It is her aunty (her dad's younger sis), that is my Dad's cousin.

I hope you understand now..
grin grin
Just assuming you were not romantically involved with her and I met both of u together, to cut the long story short, how will you introduce her to me? wink

I'm not a big fan of family tree... Trying to understand it gives me headache...
But u opened this thread for a reason because your mind is 'flipping'....

Make a phone call to the eldest member of your family and ask if it's a sacrilegious act to marry a cousin..

My advice is... if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.. hope you understand smiley ..

This is why your English is bad and it reflects on your intelligence quotient, sadly. How in the name of sweet baby Jesus are we talking about the same thing?
I don't usually say this but I am more intelligent than u are in all ramification...

A simple question that can prove how smart you claimed to be, u cannot answer it...

This is the last time I will be quoting a foolish individual like u... I can't stoop to your level.. I can't afford such luxury... U can have the Last words if u like.. enjoy the rest of your miserable life angry..

It doesn't matter, he's still alive, you should not be using past tense with him same with the Japanese and Chinese in your write-up.
So if I understand you correctly, if someone visits your home by 2:00 pm for example and leaves by 3:00pm, and someone inquires about that person, U will say to the person 'he is here' correct? U will not use was so that it won't look like he/ she has died is that right?.. please answer that.. I'm waiting...

In my opinion...
<<<On a cool Saturday... Cook a very good dish... Invite all your nephews and nieces... If possible your sisters as well... give no room for excuses...

<<<Tell them that the reason u called them is to celebrate how God has brought the family this far..

<<<Take them down the memory lane from when your sister passed away till now.. how their dad abandoned them, how your immediate family took responsibilities....

<<<Highlight how proud u were of their success and achievements..

<<<Tell them that the remaining individual yet to achieve her own goal is their younger sister...

<<<Tell them that they know fully well that u have tried your best in terms of shouldering the responsibilities of the family...Now challenge them to take care of their sister's education... That all of you are one family.. that there should be no room for selfishness... Ask for their opinion..

<<Thank them for coming...Eat your food and watch their reactions from a distance...That's how I think you can handle the Issue with your Nephews and Nieces smiley

In Nigeria, we're taught in English. So, somehow, English is a test of our intelligence
How would you convince us that you're good in you profession if you don't have a good understanding of the language with which you were taught?
I have never seen an intelligent Nigerian who can't write good English

The Japanese/Chinese, unlike us, are not taught in English. So, there's no comparison there.
What u were talking about is the ability to defend your career right?... If u understand Hausa language very well for example and an Hausa individual Who is interested in that choice of career comes in to ask you in your office what it entails, would u go about speaking English to that Hausa Man to impress him because it was the language that u were taught or would u speak in the language that both of you will feel comfortable and understands?

The best part about language is communication and comprehension... U might be the best in finance in your country for example but when u go to countries like China, Netherlands, some parts of Canada, the person might be useless despite his well spoken English because the ability to comprehend the best grammarian in town isn't there...

He may have signed a One year lease... If he leaves, his deposit might not be given back to him...

for him to leave before the expiration date, without cancelation fee and with his deposit, he may have to find someone who would like that particular apartment, Some one that the landlord/agent will approve of.... it's not easy..

Don't mind the haters, haters gonna hate.
They hate us cause they hate us.
They hate us because of jealousy.
Look at the timing of this their hitpiece: the same day the world is broadcasting the return of some Benin bronzes to the one and only Oba.
A fellow human being like you spent Christmas in a police custody for something he knew nothing about...

Even if he was guilty, he was denied bail unlike how it should be according to the Nigerian constitution...all u could say was that they were haters of the Benin?

Don't you think that the 20yr Old deserves justice and fair hearing like any other citizens?
Do you think that it was okay for an individual to use his or her prominent position to suppress another humanbeing because the other person was poor?

If such should happen to you or your friends, would u like people to fight for you and defend you like this considering the number of operations and suppression going on in Nigeria?

It would be the common sense thing to do .... if the NPF was a normal Law and Order Force. People mind their business to avoid being killed by the Police. You need to understand the Police mentality and power when it comes to unconnected citizens.
U got it wrong my dear... No one would have raised an eyebrow if the police officers were not what they are today....

No one would have even thought of following them Assuming they stick to their duties which was to maintain law and order... Even if people were arrested, every one will believe that they will be in good hands and indeed they did something wrong...

But when reverse was the case, people have to look out for one another...

My worry is that the Bus was an interstate commercial bus... It wasn't a passenger bus that shuttle within the state... Hence the need to follow up the situation.. It's just frightening no matter how u look at it...

It's the same mentality of trying to figure out the mentality of the police officer that people don't look out for one another.. that driver owe that passenger the duty of care..

I don't care attitude of most Nigerians.
I see no reason why the driver couldn't drive behind them to make sure they were actually taking them to police station... That's just awful..
In this life time, I pray never to encounter such driver and such passengers that can't think on the feet... sad

I don't see anything wrong with his English grammar.

I have an aunt who schooled in the UK and graduated top of her class but still types like this guy.

She says in UK universities no one cares if you speak/type impeccable English because the way they learn there is very different from here. What matters the most is that you understand what they are teaching you perfectly.

But of course it is relatively dependent on the kind of course you are studying.
My boss was from England... I have helped him spell two or more times when he wasn't with his laptop ... I don't even know what people think English language was... Just one out of many official languages spoken on this planet...

Some feels that once u speak fluently or type nicely, that was intelligence...Was that mindset not Inferiority complex at it's best...

The Japanese or Chinese who were doing so well around the world can hardly speak English...

Products of one bedroom parenting... it's so unfortunate because of condition of things...

When parents feel that their children were asleep and decides to do their business... Not knowing that the kids were wide awake and were watching...

That's just sad... How will one even begin to explain to a 5 yr old something like that?.. the appropriate year to start such talk for them to understand was it not 9?
