Boiling point of water is 100. If you have only water in your radiator, it can vaporise especially at high temperature when doing interstate journey and leave your engine to overheating and knocking. The right fluid in your radiator is a coolant fluid. You never need to fill your radiator if it coolant as the boiling point is over 200. That's what I do personally.

Let me know if this is not clear.
Crystal clear. Thanks a lot.

jona117, be careful with the number 1 advice given by this person as a mistake with engine oil could be the beginning of the end for your car.

If your car is direct Tokunbo, I would advice to aways use the engine recommended by the manufacturer
What if Naija used? What advice to you profer pls?

You only need to service your ride after 12000 miles or after a year whichever comes first.
Did this almost all the I have been driving. The mechanics want you to come every time to they fuel the every 3months story.
Okay, thanks. You didn't talk about the coolant part of my question.

FOOTSOLDIER2:
1.Just always check your dashboard. NEVER NEGLET ANY STRANGE SIGNS.

2. Check your engine oil gage periodically and ensure you change oil earlier even before the due time/ don't on the car AC immediately the engine is on, allow it to steam properly before you drive and on the AC.

3. Don't assume anything, check if your fans are working properly and check the water in the radiator periodically too.

4. The major problem of cars is very simple. OVERHEATING and SHORTAGE of oil in the engine. If you overcome these 2, then you have solved 90% problems.

5. Change your brake pads periodically and ensure proper alignment of the tires.

6. Never give your car to friends or anybody to drive, instead, drive them by yourself or assist them money to use other alternatives if you can't drive yourself.

7. ensure you have all the road safety properties in your boot and always have you drivers license at all time with all car documents valid and updated.

8. Lastly, drive SAFE! driving slow is not the same as driving safe! But don't over speed. Drive and don't allow the car to drive you. USE THE ROAD AND LET OTHERS USE TOO, don't drive slow in a highway lane!

ALL FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE!

DON'T FORGET TO VOTE PETER OBI TO MAKE NIGERIA A BETTER PLACE TO DRIVE IN
Nice one!
That No. 6 is so important. My friends have borrowed their cars to friends and it ended as touching stories.

Congratulations on getting a new car. Ensure to have the car manual, you can download this online if you were not given a physical copy.

Service your car once a year. This could include changing the oil and filter. Rarely the transmission fluid. Don't fall for service every 3months gang.

Using coolant fluid in your radiator instead of water is way to go to avoid overheating. Watch YouTube videos about your vehicle.

Also you can get specific advice if you mention the brand.

All the best
Enlightening I must say. Pls educate me more on the 3 month service thing you said isn't true. Also I don't know about the coolant fluid instead of water thing. Thanks.

manual is your best bet. Whatever you do, never buy converted driving positions no matter how clean it is. Very rugged car, keeps you on the road with minimal down time. That's mine in the background, still kicking strong, bought it naija used too.
Thanks boss. I believe a Peugeot mechanic on inspection would know if the driving position wasn't exchanged? A blue auto was shown to me today but I insisted on the manual.

Car TalkRe: What’s The Best Car For Uber/Bolt On A Low Budget? by Rinoxy: 10:56pm On Jan 18, 2023
adonainana:
Yes you can get a V4 Honda Accord 2006 Nigerian used for that price for 800,000 naira

So far it’s V4, it’s good for Uber as it doesn’t consume fuel like the V6 model

If you find an Honda Civic too, 2004 model upward it will do the job

As funny as it sounds a Honda Civic consumes less fuel than corrola or Camry or any totyota product, I have used both

Now back to the naysayers who will try and discourage you about your budget, it’s what you have that you will use to get what you need

Someone who probably doesn’t have a car yet is already talking about visiting a mechanic everyday now let me explain to you how these things work

A cars engine made up of piston, crank shaft etc works on wear and tear to be specific , imagine iron rods rubbing themselves inside engine oil to fire out combustion almsost everyday and as long as the engine is ignited and running

This is why the longer the millage of a car the weaker the engine is and vice versa

A brand new car not tokunbo car ooo ( a brand new car from the factory does not make any noise engine wise, reason because it’s engine is still completely new )

The reason why I am explaining this to you is to try and make you link how many kilometers a car has run to how weak or less effective or still sound the engine is

Even generator engines work on the same principle, I have been using the same generator for 3 years, but every 4 months or so we buy an HALF ENGINE and the generator is turned on everyday day

Wear and tear over a long time is what weakens engines of cars or anything made of up a mechanics systems

So going back to your budget of 800k for Eod Homda acconrd 2006 , you will get one for that price and surprise surprise all you have to do is to use your mechanic to gauge well how many months or years the engine still has left

Once the engine is still very sound, you are good to use it every day to transport people

Pls don’t listen to people trying to discourage you

Pls go to any motor park and check out the buses that transport people from lagos to Ibadan every day . One 1998 sienna took me from osun state to Abuja one time I couldn’t believe that type of van could be on the road for 14 hours to Abuja without spoiling on the road

Go to nurtw parks and see buses and vans being used for inter State transport and you will be shocked as to thier external state meanwhile it’s thier engine that still makes them going strong

Also a car engine never dies, only the OGs and the legends in the game know what to do when your car engine is giving you problems

So OP go and buy your car and start making money from it today and succeed like those before you

Good day
Words on marble!!
Good day sir, please I'll like to learn from you, as I'm in an almost similar situation. I sent you a PM, kindly respond pls.

I borrow kegs from neighbor like half of keg at quarter to take me past half never drive below quarter you can explode

Fuel pump needs to be covered with fuel to prevent overheating and damages and also your treatment will keep circulating assuming you add 1k treatment twice a year and you’ll save money on fill up
It's crystal clear now, thanks.

Bros d issue here is, which do u like d most (Auto or manual?) and d purpose of purchasing d car.

I would really advice against using Auto 307 for Uber..Not much profit would be made if u intend to keep d car top notch.

For personal use, as long as it's a clean tested tokunbo, it doesn't matter if it's Manual or auto..it's all d same. I am using an auto triptonic 307, to be honest I drive more in d manaul mode than auto especially 4 long journeys...Auto mode for urban & slow traffic areas.
Thanks for your input sir. I'm looking at a Nigerian used 307 manual. Cutting my cloth according to my pocket ni sir.

Hello my brothers, how have we being and work?
I was with a transporter today that travels two Kaduna-Abuja trips daily as he entered the mech workshop to check his legs. Can you imagine this guy does three trips on some days going to Abuja from KD n coming back using a 307 automatic transmission. Car's durability is topnotch.
I asked him to honestly tell me about the fuel consumption, he said with a full tank he goes to Abuja n returns twice before topping up on the average.

Another point guys; he said for his choice of tranny (auto) he's changed his gearbox which goes for about 150k while the manual gearbox goes for 25k. He actually said cost of parts between both trannies are miles apart but he just chose to do 307 auto.

Prices are going up at the moment guys.
