Bro, trust me. I have done the "Mental gymnastics" and weigh my options carefully before deciding. My main aim is getting my parents here as fast as possible before old age health issues starts to set in. and i believe that will in a way help others that wants to come behind though theirs might take years. It is all sacrifices

Another thing i took note of is the training aspects and the benefits i might get doing that.

I'm giving myself 4years max. Regardless of what the recruiter says or didn't say, i am joining. No be Soldier dey go war. a lot of them are just administrative duties.

If there is anything you think i should know, please enlighten me
Sorry for the late reply ,you know how busy everybody dey for this country. The first step is to decide what field you want the military to train you on i.e how to build houses, repair heavy duty vehicles or machineries etc there are hundreds of jobs they can train you on that can fetch you above 100k after your service (just search them on google and pick the one you like)The free college grant for your school and citizenship are sure bankers before you complete your service. The second step is to write and get good scores on asvab so that you get into your dream field you want the military to train you on.Read a book they call asvab for dummies. It will help you a lot. That exam resemble JAMB but not difficult like it so you will easily smash it.If you get low sores like 30 something the army will still take you but will assign you to a field you may or may not like .Don't allow your recruiter to rush you into taking the exam so that you can prepare well and get good scores and good field. After ASVAB ,your recruiter will drive you to MEPS office in the state capital where there screen you physically and medically for drugs, tattoo, vision and hearing test etc and if you pass they will give you a date for shipping to basic training. Army is very prestigious here as you get respected everywhere you go.If you apply for your parents to come here the visa na sharp sharp cos you're defending the country ,discount in shopping stores&car dealers, best medical care in the world for you and family, loan that can reach 100s of thousand for house, federal credit union loans etc too numerous to mention. You took the right decision to serve this free country which is the greatest democracy in the world. If you have any question, just feel free to pm me

yep, Army. Fast track citizenship and training careerwise (which i am sure i will need)
Bros there are things the recruiter would not tell you now because he wants to get you into the army. The minimum contract you sign is 4 years active duty and then 2 years inactive reserves meaning they can call you back within those 2 years if war breaks out Lol.On the issue of citizenship ;trump last October changed the rule that allowed immigrant enlistees to apply for citizenship after 1 day of active duty service. Now to be considered you have to wait at least a year and 6 months minimum. 1 year in Delayed entry program(dep)for security and background investigation before shipping to basic training and then another 6 months of active duty service. The military is good sha as they train you either in school or a skill that will fetch you money free of charge

Thanks for your observation, I really appreciate. One thing I know for sure is you can get job here in the U.S with your Naija certificate but it may be just $35k to start with and you may be required to write one or two exam.

I have a very good friend here who is making about $65k working in Real Estate company with Naija certificate. His first contract was $25k I think.
I have replied to several emaisl and phone calls since I started this thread but people are taking it for granted.

There are several things you can do here with Naija certificate e.g Insurance, Real Estate, Salesforce and AWS will cost about $500 - $600 to learn.

Lastly, you don't necessarily need student loan to get your master degree here if your are hard working.
Kudos bro.I know this post will go a long way in enlightening and helping a lot of our people here

Bros you started this thread by mentioning how you were able to secure a job with your Nigerian degree here in u.s and after that you avoided that topic completely. I have already written my board exams and I believe the information you give will be valuable for people here cos nobody would go for a student loan if they know they can use their Nigerian degree here .Goldenboy Opened a thread on how people here can manage their finances and invest back home what is the purpose of the threadExcept maybe the aim of is to serenade the people back home with pictures of u.s cos we know that with spirit (cheapest)airline you can get to Chicago in less than 2 hours

Bro. I have a question.
What sorta birth certificate did you submit?. It seems my NPC birth certificate isn't acceptable.

I got my biometrics letter today. But from what i have been reading and what my oga Lionell told me our naija birth certificatw na error404

Kindly inform me what cert you submitted. Thank you
They only need you to send in a photocopy of the birth certificate and then come in with the original during your interview. If you didn't receive an RFE on that there is no problem. They dont need it at the biometrics .Just follow the instruction on the letter and you will be good

May Obasanjo Never Write me a letter.

I'm not a fan of OBJ but one of my prayer points has always been that may Obasanjo never write me a letter.
Obasanjo may have done exact or more evil than whoever he's writing to admonish but while OBJ always escape repercussions, whoever he writes to admonish are not always lucky.

OBJ's involvement in any issue signifies the imminent end of that issue.

First he wrote to Shagari when the latter was soaked in mismanagement of the economy few months later the military smashed Shagari government.

In 1995 he then wrote to Abacha and described him as a stone age dictator, the letter landed him in trouble, He was almost killed. But after his death sentence was converted into prison terms, he wrote another letter to Abacha titled NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT, Where he said, "I was a head of state yesterday, today, I'm in jail. You're the head of state today, tomorrow, your condition may be worse than mine...".
Indeed, Abacha's future was worse as he ended inside the grave!!!

OBJ didn't write himself while in power but instead wrote his deputy, Atiku Abubakar. Atiku has become a shadow of his pre-1999 self since then.

It wasn't clear whether he wrote Yaradua, a terminally ill former Kastina governor he imposed on Nigeria....but he came out publicly and asked him to resign!!!

He also didn't spare GEJ he wrote him in a letter titled BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE, But it was actually late before the letter was written. Jonathan, today, has become a sorrowful history.

His latest letter to Buhari is no joke,
Take it or not, Buhari needs absolute care else the letter becomes his political abattoir

Beg Obasanjo for me whenever you see him, may he never write me a letter.
Copied!!!
Very true analogy

See, when the time is right, no even waste time. File for citizenship sharp sharp.

Even green card now no mean much in current America.
Your citizenship can easily be revoked for the slightest offence if you are not born here. Its happening to several people now.Google and read more on that

Please what is the procedure for applying for a nigerian visa from here

For a Nigerian passport, you’ll have to fly to the consulate in New York or Washington DC.
I would recommend applying for an expedited Nigerian visa instead.

Thank you bro.

There has always been anti immigration sentiments. it has however been crazy the past 2 years (with DACA and Visa lottery, chain immigration etc)

People have always been denied their green card application during interview. it has nothing to do with the heightened anti immigration sentiments. There are several factors involved. Like i said, i don't know how people that do "arrangee marriage" get through. The whole process is hard enough for genuine couples. So imagine how hard it is for people trying to pass as genuine. they can ask any question, ridiculous questions that only couples will know.

So, to everyone trying "arrangee". I am not for or against you, i do however want to let you know that you have a lot to loose. and i wish you what you wish yourself.

look at the example of what they ask and you will see why they will get any arrangee couples
Yes you are right ,it is usually frustrating when you have genuine marriage and they keep asking questions as if you did arrangee .I am also glad that you have already prepared ahead on what to expect, and also assume that you know about the 30,60 and 90 days rule for AOS.I believe your whole process will work out fine

*Adjustment of Status update*

We sent the completed forms with accompany documents on the 2nd of Jan to USCIS chicago Lockbox. it was delivered on the 4th of January

Now we wait.

Forms sent are

I-130 and I-130a, Petition for Alien Relative - USCIS (cheque/check amount attached $535)

I-485,Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust .. (cheque/check amount attached $1225)

I-765, Application for Employment Authorization - USCIS ( amount is free when filed with form I-485)

I-131, Application for Travel Document - USCIS (free when filed with form I-485)

I-864, Affidavit of Support Under Section 213A of the INA - USCIS (No cost)

G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance - USCIS (No cost)

All supporting documents included with each forms

Now we wait for the confirmation that they receive it.
This is the time to be prayerful. There is now a lot of anti immigration sentiment permeating through every sector in this country. Most of their questions will focus on what you told the officers at the point of entry and the duration between your arrival and meeting your wife.If what you say does not jell well in their ears they will deny you ,issue a deportation order and transfer you to ICE pending appeal. The last person i helped complete his application had like 5 people before him denied that day in their USCIS new York office. Its not like before again

If you have a fiance/boyfriend/girlfriend that is a US citizen and it is looking promising and really serious, I think you both should look into the form I-130 (I-130, Petition for Alien Relative - USCIS)

He/ she can file a petition for you and when the petition is approved (usually takes between 2-5months), you can go to the US embassy or consulate close to you to get a K1 visa which allows you to come to the US and finish the other process of becoming a permanent resident here in the US.

it is a straightforward process.

anyone that is connected to the US through relationship to a USC can look into this. it is 2018 people!!!
The number one qualifying condition for getting that visa is that you must have met the American citizen at least once .Unfortunately most American women are not willing to travel down to Nigeria for that due to our penchant for turning into a fraudulent venture a law designed to help people who genuinely love themselves
