It looks funny but it is not.
Vandalism of critical public infrastructure is so rampant in Nigeria sometimes I wonder the perpetrators must be animals.
Who steals armored cables from transformer stations just because of a few Naira and throws the entire neighborhood and small business into darkness? an animal
Who vandalize Telecoms infrastructure and cuts people off from access to information? a slowpoke.
There some things that should not be touched but we are the most selfish and self centered creatures on earth, that is why you see such notices. |

SopranoCoder: 1. The fact that there was even one person aming the plotters that was not Igbo invalidates the title "Igbo coup". And Nigeria has had more than five coups, each time a group of Hausas overthrowing the leader and putting another Hausa in power. Why isn't Nigeria complaining about the "Hausa coups" that have crippled Nigeria more than ever and produced some of our historically worst governments? Why are you choosing to remember only the "Igbo coup". See what I mean? Just hate.
2. I said in my post that the plotters in the South didn't do their part. Only Nzeogwu did. And the Igbo leader that was killed was not as a result of personal vendetta.
3. You are very wrong to say Ironsi was the beneficiary of the coup. Ironsi was the one that organised soldiers and crushed the Coup. A lot more politicians would have died if Ironsi (Igbo man) didn't stop the coup and imprison the plotters.
4. The coup plotters were not partying in the East, as you claim. they were in prison the whole time. It was only when the war started that Ojukwu freed some, but these ones were subsequently executed. Go and read Achebe's "There was a country"
5. So you are saying that because the Igbo people were singing songs it is justified for 50,000 of them to be killed? are you a human being? When Igbos were expelled from Lagos in 1967 the Yoruba's were singing in the Motor parks as the Igbos were departing "You people should go. Garri will become cheaper". (My mother was 12 at the time, and she clearly remembers) Your half smart. The original sin is the Igbo coup. Subsequent ones are a fallout of the short-sightedness of the 1966 coup. |

But can you really tell a private business to go and solve its home country government responsibilities? ?..come on! Its like Cameroon sending dangote packing because boko haram from nigeria attacked them or telling him to go and solve it first. We condemn the attack yes, but mtn can do nothing besides what its doing which is publicly condemning it to be candid. And if you are to make a list of the sponsored projects and jobs that mtn indirectly creates we ll see that though they re getting rich off us, we aint totally losing at all. From mtn proj fame to thousand others ...They ve always been the first to start them. Our govt can get more from them by strengthening our own telecomms to loosen the monopoly but until then, they are a necessary evil and rightly so!! The only reasonable poster. Romance › Re: Are Nigerian Guys Wiser And More Knowledgable Than Nigerian Ladies. by rman: 3:25pm On Apr 20, 2015 |
AncientJerk: The opinion of the o.p is perfectly reasonable and does have some body of supporting evidence. I have personally observed that the vast majority of well educated girls not only do not have much knowledge but are also quite disinterested in acquiring knowledge of certain topics most especially political ones. Given the fact that politics is pretty much inextricably linked with our day to day lives, i have wondered why women are so generally disinterested in it.
I usually generally only talk (on a deeper level) with university educated ladies/young ladies and i usually always throw them a test question on a political subject or on something that pertains to every day life. On one occasion, i asked this girl "what do you think of the situation in Gaza?" (during the last major conflict) and she replied asking me what Gaza was. This was a medical student. However that's not to say that all male students her age would be completely clued in on such topics but to be that uninformed is inexcusable in my opinion. This young lady went further to state proudly that the she only reads news on subjects such as the lifestyles of the rich and famous. I was appalled but then began to observe a trend. Most girls do not have anything very tangible to say when you ask them questions about their future and how they plan to change the world. I have come up with following stereotyped observation that may explain this behavior.
1. Nigerian ladies are more self centered and thus serious issues which do not directly affect them are of less interest to them. More so when they are being provided for by a husband or father.
2. Nigerian ladies have the underlying assumption that certain things are a man's job.
3. Nigerian ladies no matter how educated they are, tend to hold on to their beauty (if they have any) as their source of sustenance. A Nigerian lady no matter how rich and powerful she is (especially while young) will always aim to get married to someone richer than her if she has good looks.
4. Our male-dominant culture reinforces this paradigm.
Understand that the point here is not that women are not intelligent or that women are not capable of high performance in demanding situations; the point is that women largely do not show interest nor insight into the less academic everyday affairs of life where "street smarts" are of greater value than "book smarts"
lastly do remember that stereotypes exist because a significant number of the population have exhibited the stereo-typed trait; however, there will always be exceptions to the rule which do not negate the rule. We have a winner!. Succinctly put |

ELITE0911: the op is a bloody cynic, and a smart one. he forgets that emotion and logic are two things that never mix, and yet he has based his arguments on logic. It is a well established fact that man cannot define his own thought one can only assumes, "the more a man tries to capture himself in his own definition, the more and more he drowns himself in his own confusion" and that's what the op has tried to do. So if op is incapable of unconditional love, he should at least not insult the idea of it. so for those who believe in unconditional love go on, and the brother above me looking for loophole here it is..... You are just trying to look for the difference between six and half a dozen. What created the emotion responsible for the unconditional love you wrote about? OP is absolutely correct. I have always held this position in all my relationship/interactions and it always worked. What do u want and what is in it for me? Because I figured out early everyone wanted something. Even kids after a certain age stop loving their parents unconditionally. It can argued that food, attention etc is what makes babies cling to their mothers more. So babies too want something. OPs position can be rationalised for all human dealings. You go to church regularly or pray five times daily, subconsciously, you are only trying to satisfy part of the conditions required for eternal bliss as stipulated by the books. You give the begger by the road 20 bucks, you only crave the inner desire of the do good effect. Sometimes, giving can be made to look selfish self. You receive 10 folds of whatever you give is the bedrock of the multi billion dollar empire pastors have created. The beautiful, young, Harvard graduate from the rich Nigerian parents is almost certain not to end up with the agbero at Mushin. Subconsciously we all do it. We prioritise and already figured out what is in it for us before doing anything at all. Ever wondered why beautiful ladies seems to get favour easily from strange men? In summary, unconditional love is a hoax. |

Besides the south would never unite again, so pushing him out even in a free and fair elections would not be easy Nigerians are now wise.....even if turns Nigeria to Dubai in 4yrs he won't get the votes.... Something also tells me he will actually not contest. I have a strong feeling both PDP and APC will put forward young vibrant men as their candidates for 2019 elections. |

chukwudi44: Ode is this a Yoruba administration? You will find out if you need igbos when Osinbanjo contests against a northern PDP candidate in 2023 .By then you will realize abokiss do not have any party affiliation
Tinubu was the one who sacrificed the Yoruba position in the outgoing administration for his own selfishness and not GEJ.The speaker of the HOR was zoned to the sw but the crack addict gave it all away.
For the last time the igbos do not care about Senate Presidency or any of these other legislative posts. We do not regret not voting for APC.Let's play opposition for the first time and acquire some experience too 2023? Buhari should not go for second term, he will be rejected. |
