No safe harness worn by inspection team on a construction site..Nothing!

Nigerian leaders need to learn the basics and this shows the class of the construction company being used.

They should have insisted everyone wears the safety harness (boots, helmets , googles and ear ear plugs if applicable)

Investment / Re: America’s $1.3b Investment Threatened In Nigeria, Says Consul-general by rman: 2:24pm On Nov 05, 2018
Reference:

Will you shut this brazen stupidity. People who have what you need are telling you what they want and you are talking trash. You cannot pay your workers. You borrow to build your roads thus mortgaging your childrens future and here are people willing to partner and you are insulting.

You think investors don't have conditions and will just throw their money into any hole they find. If you go to a bank to borrow won't the bank give you conditions. If you borrow dollar will you repay naira. If I told you to bring money to invest in my business and I told you that you cannot get it back, what will you say. Did MTN bring naira into this country in 2001.

If this silly government cannot sit up and clean its investment house then it should hang up a sign that clearly reads "closed for business" and we should go a borrowing. Thr same conditions these multinationals give us is the same they give to every country they invest in. Nigeria cannot expect to be treated differently.

If this government is concerned about capital flight they should turn their attention to multinational contrators who come briefcase in hand and are awarded multibilkion dollar contracts to offer services we have not been able to localise in sixty years of independence. Some of these contrators came into Nigeria in the seventies and eighties and have laid down to skewer the economy being a constant feature on our annual budgets while ferrying scarce forex back home. The government has no problems withthese since their slices of the pie are guaranteed but because investors don't 'shake body' they are subjected to frustrating, vindictive practices and policies.

Continue down to the path of destruction with jaudiced thinking . Shey strike is coming. You will beg for investment at any condition. Just wait..... broke ass folks deceiving themselves.... nonsense.

God bless you.

They lack the intellectual capacity to understand investor want ROI and a government cannot wake up and ask an investor to bring 8 billion dollars back. In fact, the same company must have invested more than 20 billion dollars into the Nigerian economy but our govt still wants their profits kept here even after collecting all sorts of tax. Is this the initial agreement? If I have money to invest, will I bring it into a country which flip flops her polices based on who is in power?

I wrote it here that the MTN issue will back fire, now the CBN is trying so hard to bring back investors confidence by saying they are carefully looking at the issue. Isn't that what they should have done in the first place before rushing to the media?

We need to counter some of these negative comments on important topics like this one. Everything no suppose be joke for this country. Politics / Re: We Will Not Take Part In Any Election Until We Get A Referendum-nnamdi Kanu by rman: 7:48pm On Oct 21, 2018
Nuzo1:
First, just like Atiku; Nnamdi Kanu is a monumental fraud. Most of us Igbos and other Nigerians are very much aware of this.

While Atiku is getting popular for the seat of presidency because Buhari has failed woefully. Nnamdi Kanu is also getting popular because there has been an obvious and crass discrimination against a section of Nigeria since the sixties.

I will never vote for Atiku neither will I ever take Nnamdi Kanu serious. But where there's intentional INJUSTICE, any fraudster and rifraff from anywhere with a message of hope and redemption will always attract the sympathy of the people being unjustly treated.

No country has ever developed with INJUSTICE. A sitting president who is always verbal about "one Nigeria" has the guts to publicly divide Nigeria into 97% 5% just because of common choice of vote!

I am for one Nigeria, but Nigerians are not ready. And so far they are not ready, fraudsters like Atiku and Kanu will always get more popular.

Brilliant!!!

What I observed, especially those that I think their reasons are genuine, with just 10 million Naira, one can fulfill almost 90% of the request on this thread.

Now, imagine when a politician steals 500 million NAIRA for example, he has so much power and control.

Our leaders are wicked, with very little thay can do a lot but the gap between the haves and "have not's" must be maintained for them to remain relevant.

It is well.

Romance / Re: She Deflowered Me, Says No Sex Anymore As She Turns Born-Again by rman: 4:34am On Oct 04, 2018
obailala:
It might hurt you to know this, but the lady in question is already tired of the relationship but isn't bold enough to say it for fear of hurting you; the church thing is just a suitable excuse she's used to keep you at bay. If she's still into you, while being born again may stop her from getting intimate or physically close, it wouldn't prevent her from talking to you; infact the lack of physical touch would even push her to want to talk more out of fear of losing you over the 'lack of intimacy' thing.

It's very likely she's being distracted by another guy right now; she's not dating the other guy (yet) and may never do, but there's likely someone out there who's singing the very kind of songs she really wants to hear in her ears every day. That explains why she no longer has your time or has reduced communication with you. It's likely this new dude may also be chipping in the religious card which she wants to hear, so her inner mind is currently battling with the silly idea that the new guy is the one she divinely needs and not you who is 'carnal' and a 'bad influence'.

Once again, this might hurt, but it seems her mind is already messed up and stolen for good; you lost her already and by sticking around, you would just complicate matters for yourself. To save yourself further trauma, organise a meet up with her and thoroughly drill her till she confesses the truth about whether she's still interested in your relationship or not. Goodluck!

4

Well said.

The moment a lady stopped talking to you, the relationship is over. They may withdraw sex but communication is important to them.

100% of the time, when someone is too busy to talk to their partner, that person is no longer their partner. Fact!

Is that why their 4G is as slow as 2G? In any case the Nigerian Authorities are right on this. As for the Rewane guy, shame on him, his statement reeks of someone who has just been bought over...does he understand the effect of the MTN tax evasion on the Nigerian economy and the unhealthy precedence it sets for other so called investors? What investors need are tax break not tax evasion...MTN can not try this same rubbish in the US or UAE for that matter.Worse still is MTN doing business in Nigeria all these years and not being listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange...that has been undermining the Nation and trust me, the Nigerian Authorities have been lenient with the penalty. Solid economies defines Nations Politically on the global stage, we are not yet on the part to industrialization self.

MTN did not evade tax. It is the government that came back years later to claim they made in mistake in calculations. MTN provided 82 boxes of evidence to the government for review, they did not even bother to look at it.

Are you aware it was not the FIRS that cried foul but the office of the attroney general. Now the CBN is saying the banks and MTN may not really have nay case to answer. They are now doing what they should have done first, listen to the banks and MTN. Instead they rushed to the press, because under Buhari, this kind of news seems to be an achievement.

The overall negative impact it could have on the stock exchange was not properly thought through.

Even the fine due to unregistered SIMS was outrageous in my opinion. Are digitalcrimes not still being committed now that SIMS are registered?

The smart way to go.

If they go to the stock exchange now, they will not be getting the true value for the listed shares. The announcement plunged the share value by more than 35% , ant right thinking business, especially a very strong brand like MTN will not rush to list under such circumstance.

FG imposed billion dollar fines on one of the biggest investors in Nigeria without fair hearing on an issue FG could be wrong and we all wonder why investors lost confidence a week later in businesses here.

When was the last time GTB stock fell?

If MTN were to be quoted on our stock exchange, it will worse than 155 billion.

FGs action in recent times to succesful businesses is responsible for this.

If I am an investor, I will also take my money out.

Our policies does not encourage investors.

We only say it, our actions says otherwise.

Business / Re: FG Demands Fresh $2bn Tax Arrears From MTN by rman: 7:40am On Sep 05, 2018
LaudableXX:

Don't mind them. angry Majority of those jumping up and down on this thread, do not know the first thing about telecoms firms, or the way they operate. When it comes to Mobile Switching Centres (MSC) for example, it is the big telco infrastructure companies like Motorola, Ericsson and Siemens that play in this field. They are the OEMs. MTN does not manufacture one single pole, modem, RF radio or antennae for its operations.

These telco infrastructure firms bring in the equipment, sell it to MTN, Airtel, Glo and co, and then maintain it for a stipulated number of years. sad And they all have offices and warehouses in Lagos. So how can govt tell us that their Federal Ministry of Finance officials all over the federation, as well as tax authorities at federal and state level, including Nigerian Customs Services turned a blind eye to the fact that MTN was not paying taxes and import duties, for 10 whole years?!! shocked Haba! Make dem dey lie, small-small nah!

If what govt is saying is actually true, then every senior staff of the Ministry of Communications, as well as Ministry of Finance, including FIRS and Customs, from the level of director upwards, should be sacked with immediate effect! They have failed woefully in this regard! angry

You know your onions.

I know Nigerian telecoms industry very well and I am still actively participating in it.

It is the typical Nigerian, take over anything successful for frivolous reasons. The politicians are behind this. The see MTNs numbers and want a piece of the pie. Unfortunately, they are going about it the wrong way.

LaudableXX:

Oga, please read my initial post with understanding, before you jump to vague conclusions. sad Govt claims MTN did not pay taxes for 10 years, which is highly improbable. MTN cannot be held liable for not paying import duty, as their telecoms equipment were imported by their sub-contractors, and NOT directly by MTN! shocked You need to look at their sub-contractors like Siemens, Ericsson, Vodacom, Reime, Harris Communications, etc who imported, installed and maintained telecoms equipment such as masts, switching centres, Base Transceiver Sites (BTS), antennae etc., at MTN sites.

If MTN did not pay WHT for 10 years, how did it escape the notice of the tax authorities all through those 10 years??! shocked People need to ask relevant questions, please! undecided Their annual reports have always been published both locally and internationally, so why wasn't it challenged since by govt? Where did MTN get the figures they have been posting under payment of taxes, and how come no govt agency ever challenged it all this while?

You are the one of the reasonable fellow on this thread, if not this site.

Most Nigerians lack the capability to see the bigger picture.

What this govt is trying to do is take over that company. It is quite clear right from the first year.

It is no coincedence that they are being attacked by different govt agencies including NLC.

Is the govt saying MTN cooporate governance and ethics worst than GLOs?
