aktopgun:here you go-------->https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=52566.msg1619655#msg1619655 |
aktopgun:I will dig out the figures for you again i think its buried somewhere in one of my earlier posts either on this or the sister thread. I shuttle between Zurich-London-Lagos so i'm seriously on the ground |
aktopgun:Why don't you sell some of your WEMA shares(depends on how much you are holding) and plough it back into the PO and use your uncommitted capital to buy into some other opportunities. Diamond and bank PHB(personally my favorite) are coming to the market soon! |
@ ROUGHCUT I have CAPOIL in Mind WHAT do you think?
Dont have any info regarding that company |
aktopgun:The conventional thinking is that you can sell some now before it goes on TS and hold the remaining till when TS is lifted and wait till when the price climbs higher than when it went on TS at least you don't need to wait for any cert that way you take advantage of the post-suspension bull run. You spread bet you outlay and take advantage of both cycles pre and post suspension bull run(excuse the the pun!) Going forward if you believe WEMA holds value (i do) you can offload all or part of your holding and go in for the PO if and i repeat if the PO is ~N8 so that way you would have funded your acquisition of WEMA shares with the realised profit from the sale of your holdings and you can use some of your original capital to look for the next BIG THING I'm sure we are looking at N13 before the end of the week that is what easimoni is waiting for well you havent got long to go! |
Do you have any company in mind? may be that would help |
There's a rumour on another forum of a foreign investor lurking in the shadows waiting to pounce on WEMA. Like i said this is a rumour and this has not in any way been independently verified nor confirmed! |
tonyjon:Add to that list Fidelity and Skye bank. Springbank ??nothing like that anymoreHmmnnnnnn, i'm tempted to add WEMA to the list(the powers that be wont allow that to happen!) well it wont be a disaster at least we get to sell our shares at a handsome premium to whoever is gobbling up WEMA ![]() |
tonyjon:That would depend on the price at the PO is offered. I would say if it comes out at ~N8(i wish!) then go for it if it is higher then i think that would be your call but at ~N8 i would make a BUY call. All said and done the final decision is yours |
MyPeace:After Papa God na you biko! |
MyPeace:One quick question when is Trans-nationwide express going to do a PO? as it appears some of us are a bit late to gatecrash the rights issue party or should i tag along with wanaj0? |
wanaj0:I think that would be the first elephant to fly! |
atilla:WEMA opened at N12.27 (another 5% upward swing)and you can bet it's not going to close lower ! |
atilla:Well i can say it is fairly correct to assume that the stock will be gaining the max 5% until it goes on TS either this week or next week(from what i have heard) so you can sell gradually depending on the amount you are holding. Divide your holdings into two lots and issue a SELL instruction today or tomorrow and then issue another SELL instruction beginning of next week(i'm assuming it doesnt go TS this week) that way way you would have spread your bets and taken advantage of the swing The permutation above assumes the stock is going on TS this week or next week. |
Here we go again with this insurance capitalization/recapitalization palaver http://www.proshareng.com/myproshare/portal_news.php?id=3149 |
easimoni:cant complain though i have had this stock for two years now and its just been stagnant so time to jump ship! |
pumping777:So i guess he's reaping the benfits of his labour. A wise man leaves an inheritance for his children |
pumping777:Yep i'm on the prowl for the next one! i missed out BIG-TIME on Zenith bought N16 and did not sell when it went to N68 |
I guess this one is off my radar |
@hispy99 I have read the report and i dont like the smell of what's inside as far as the acqusition of CSL stockbrokers is concerned. For starters FCMB is shelling out $100M(N12.5B) to acquire and capitalize CSL. This is a company that is projected to generate $13.5M(N1.6B) in 2010 representing a paltry 5% of the attributable income to the FCMB group. The net worth of CSL is estimated at $2.2M(N275M) and correct me if i'm wrong net worth is the difference between assets and current+long-term libilities(sorry i'm not an accountant) and the annualized PAT for 2007 is estimated at $7.4M(N925M) so if they are projecting an income of N1.6B in 2010 in effect they expect to grow earnings by only 700M in the intervening 2 years This doesnt sound like a good investment to me but guess what? CSL is owned by you guessed it! Otunba Subomi who is the father of the current MD |
easimoni:I like your style man. Looks like i'm switching tactics as well. Having children does not stop you playing the market i have a 4-year old and i'm having a whale of a time i guess i'm investing for his future but then i have to be a little bit more measured in my approach. I think you have hit DIAMOND not gold if my rough estimate of your WEMA is anywhere near what i think it is Well done! I'm actually thinking of 100k units of WEMA when the PO comes but i guess it depends on the price so i'm waiting for the magical N13 before i shell out my holding We are talking about a ~ N20 stock here |
tonyjon:I assume your post was meant for wanaj0 i dont hold any ins stocks but that may change now.-) |
hispy99:The Lord bless you bro i guess this puts a different slant on the FCMB offer will be dissecting the report with a very fine tooth comb |
easimoni:I have been reading your stuff since i registered on this forum back in May and it appears to me everything you have touched has the ring of a midas to it. How did you do that? i beg make you transfer some of the anointing now i no dey too far from you ke |
yodiyokun:You dont need NSE to wipe off your gains for you! this is what happens when peeps dont do their homework and go with the hype (herd mentality) |
dj4wealth:Dangote is paying himself a dividend of N2.8B every quarter on this stock because he still has 70 or is it 75%? holding in Dangote sugar |
easimoni:Well well if you have taken the risk to have 80% of your portfolio in WEMA and you seem to have come out smelling of roses i'm inclined to go with you on this one! To be sincere i dont hold any insurance stocks waiting till next year but i think that is about to change now |
steeviee:Will this sad development have anything to do with the stunt Dangote pulled sometime back in July i believe selling his personal holding in NASCON in a one-day spectacular and a lot of peeps rushed in to buy and jerked up the price in the process i have just had a look again at the share price trend it's being downhill since from a lofty N26 to an abyssmal N15 Nigeria we hail thee! |
crazyT:That is why he is still with us on nairaland! |
WEMA bank closed at N11.69 today another 4.94% gain and if the stock keeps appreciating at the max rate allowable of 5% in the next three days it would break the N13 mark precisely the share price would hit N13.53easimoni i hope you are reading this! so i guess if you don't already own the stock i think it would be a bit late to join the party! WEMA is literally back to life so i'm just sharpening my claws patiently waiting for the stock to go on TS before i open fire! To imagine that just last week WEMA was all but consigned to history what a remarkable turn-around (officially the come-back kid) |
tonyjon:Yes you heard right and i dont think you are missing anything they are repaying the loan from the proceeds of the offer and the rest will go on working capital and it will be 70% owned by Flour Mills |
wanaj0:Also take into consideration they will have to acquire the assets and libilities of CSL and i noticed they made a provision of N3.2B for risk assets(another name for goodwill) is this to do with the acqusition of CSL ? They will have to charge this to the profits or their reserves so not sure anything changes |

??nothing like that anymore

I meant UBN. And they are giving away 12B out of a PAT of 13.8B (~87%)
. Seriously, I hit gold with Wema, the rest of my portfolio is not shining. All I try to do is hit the stocks with the lowest forward PEs and wait for the market to recognize their cheapness and adjust. Has not failed to work so far. Now I'll hit Crusader with everything I've got. Am I a risk taker? BIG TIME! But you are only young once. When the kids come, I can't do this anymore.
Crusader, M Benefits, Law Union) and some may crash and burn. I think the picture there is largely incomplete but I have done as much homework as I can and I'm buying into the three Coys mentioned above. Only for risk takers.
