ChinenyeN: Igbo Kwenu! Kedu ka unu di?
Well, asi m ka m bia kelee unu n'ile, maakwa otu unu di. Ahu o di unu n'ile? Anyway, ahuru m na o di onye na-acho imuta otu eji-asu asusu Igbo.
I was once like you Onyinye2. I understood Igbo, but could only reply in weak phrases to my parents, it wasn't until about 3 years ago (Junior in High School) that I met another Igbo boy that came to the US around the same time that I came to the US and he spoke better Igbo than I. Then again, he had older siblings, and I'm the oldest of all my siblings, but still, the fact is that he spoke better Igbo than me. It then made me realize that I need to learn this language quickly (because it almost became like a competition for me). Now I understand, speak, read, and write fluently (depending on which dialect I'm hearing, or reading). What it takes is willingness to learn it. Speak, make mistakes and get corrected. Also try to surround yourself with people that speak the language or always listen carefully whenever you hear people speak. One of the things that helped me alot was thinking in Igbo. Instead of thinking words and sentences in English, I would think them in Igbo and then say them to my hearing to see if they sounded right. If I had questions I asked my parents. Now I no longer ask and I just speak. Also, I'm not sure if anyone has given you this link or not, but here ---> http://ilc.igbonet.com It is a link to a site that teaches Igbo that my father gave to me some time ago, long before I showed interest in learning Igbo. It helped me alot.

Last King: I speak from experience. Read my first contribution to this topic. I have a friend that had similar experience, she left in a hurry. Now she's 37, a masters degree holder, no husband.
Am not saying this lady's case will be like that, but if she can confirm that the lady is actually pregnant before deciding, that will help. At least another woman should not play a fast one on her and break her relationship.
What make you think the lady is not lying about the pregnancy just to end the marriage, hoping to get the man in the process. Ladies sleep with men every day, married men, engaged men, most avoid getting pregnant. why is this one happy about the pregnancy.
My advice, do all you can to save you marriage if you think you can forgive what happened. Get your fiance to get the facts about the pregnancy and get an abortion. But whatever you do should be based on what you think is best for you. forget about the people invited for the wedding and think about what you want for yourself. which marriage is she saving? they are not married yet and the man she trusted impregnanted someone else and couldn't even tell her and confess that is disgusting |

If you marry from the same race especially for people who live abroad both of you have so many things in common eg 1) 80% most of the times you will always feel that you are married to your brother or sister and it is hard to hurt your sister.
2) When there is misunderstanding English are been left aside and both will communicate with your own dialet which calms down tension
3) When a man decides to move back to his home town finally, there will not be too much fight in doing so or when a man wants to start a project back home like building a house the woman will not see it as the man cyfolding their bank account to
4) it reduces suspicion in marriage |

Romance › Re: Why Most Guys Abroad Prefer Not Dating Maybe Marrying African Ladies? by rubi(f): 12:37pm On Jul 12, 2008 |
outlaws:

The older generation of African men living abroad, most of them used White women for personal gains and went home to marry, heartless thing to do?yes and no. To be able to answer that you have to weigh what White people did to them and their people. The new generation, most of them don't want to date or marry African ladies.
Here is the deal, not every Black guy that date or marry White ladies are unfaithful. Those that are unfaithful are maybe using the White lady for papers or something or maybe is just in their nature to engage in acts like that.
In my hood, most African guys are dating and thinking of marrying White ladies, European, Asians, Hispanics, etc. My conclusion to this trend is because most Black guys the younger ones want to explore a lady that’s different from them. Black ladies have the same color with them so they need something different. For the older Black guys, they want peace. They feel like most Black ladies are full of shit meaning wahala or you can say they got a lot of drama or if you still don’t get it you can say they got issues or got bitchy attitude. African ladies note, especially if you live abroad, if you want to attract an African guy, you need to have your shit together and act like a lady. Always keep it cool and don’t be a bitch. Otherwise the White ladies are here to take over every African guy living abroad. Don’t say I didn’t tell you. In that case if you still insist of marrying African, you have to take your ass back home to African to pick out a timid uncivilized guy and bring him here and tame him to be fit to take the challenge that awaits him abroad. If you are African lady and you are worried that White ladies are taking your African guys. No worry, actually you should worry, but not too much. There are a lot of qualified civilized African guys back home if they are not already taken. Is time to get your act together. So, just don't do it, do it fast.
For me, for African ladies, most of them are cool but I just can’t seem to find the right lady with all the expensive qualities. There was this African lady I met, she met all this qualities other than she wants to be a nurse, I told her that I am not interested in any one in the health profession, outlined the reasons for her. She thought I was joking, the relationship ended because she doesn’t seem to listen and take instructions. For Asians, I don’t feel them any more. Most of them are mean bitches. For Black American ladies, most of them got bitchy attitude that’s beyond my liking. European or European American ladies, I am not in the right mind of meeting a parent who might be a KKK[as I am writing this I have a 30 day eviction notice from a racist manager to get the mess out of the place am living, I told him to go to hell, that I am not going any where without a war], there is a chance of meeting such parents but I don’t want to risk it, so I live that option out. Some of their ladies are pretty but the load is much heavier than the benefit. Hispanic ladies, this is a hard one. I still think that African ladies are the most beautiful ladies in the world but some times Hispanic ladies make me wonder that. I hope you got the point. Some times I wonder what can an African lady give me that a Hispanic lady can’t. Not culture because is old fashioned. Not food, I don’t even eat African food anymore, never like it anyways. So I don’t know. If you are an African lady back home or maybe you live abroad give me a reason or reasons why African guys should marry African ladies. My parents emphasize marrying African ladies. But I don’t have any reason to do so when compared to Hispanic ladies. Because we are not of the same race doesn’t mean anything. I have had lady friends that are Hispanic and their parents especially their mom are just like African women. But I know that there are some racist Hispanic parents out there. That maybe a minus for them.
If I would pick between African lady and Hispanic lady, I would pick the one that got her shit together with all the expensive qualities. It is good to maryy from anywhere as for as there is love but it is ideal to marry from the same race. |

chaircover: My mother is a retired army major and he was married to my dad for many years. Being an army Major did not stop her from personally cooking all my fathers meals inspite of housemaids & batmen available at her disposal.
She was trained in firearms but chose not to keep any in the house because of us children.
A lot of my mums friends were in the army with civilian husbands and while growing up I never heard of any of them locking their husbands up.
One thing I did notice was my mum having a totally different personality when she was at work to when she was at home and the times I went to see her at work I was quite shocked at how "hard" she could be. But at home and even up till now she is a wonderful mother & wife and both sides of the family just love & adore her so much.
A man will always be a man irrespective of how powerful a woman is (my dad certainly was) and I personally think if the love between them is pure & deep you friends should accept the situation & support the union.
True love in the real sense of it is not easy to come by. nice input |
