Salary negotiation has never been an easy task.
Whether you are looking for a new job, or you
want to switch your industry or you are seeking
promotion internally in your present
organization.
Be it any of the above situation, it always calls
for salary negotiations in order to get what you
are expecting and what you deserve.
No matter how tough it is or how much you
hate to do this but it is certainly a skill that you
would like to hone for the sake of a successful
career.
Here are certain tips that will help you
immensely while negotiating your salary.
🎯 Know your worth by doing the extensive
research about the correct trend & pay scale
for your profile, expertise, qualifications &
experiences.
🎯 Quote the exact number. Be specific, be
precise. Don’t be vague by saying anywhere
between X and Y amount.
🎯Be assertive, yet polite. Maintain your calm
& class throughout the discussion.
🎯 Emphasize on your worth to convey that
why you are demanding a certain amount.
🎯 Highlight your achievements & expertise,
don’t bring your personal need for money in
salary negotiation. Don’t beg, demand it
because you deserve it.
🎯Listen actively, don’t interrupt.
🎯Consider the whole package along with all
the benefits and perks that comes with it.
Do not get stuck on net salary alone.
🎯Always ask for more than you want.
According to human Psychology, people get
winning thrill when they bargain.
🎯 Rehearse & practice what all you want to
discuss until you are comfortable enough
having that conversation.
🎯Do not settle for less than you deserve.
🎯 Be willing to leave the table, if the respect is
not being served.
The above tips will help you in sharing your
salary expectations with the HR manager,
recruiter or negotiator in an assertive yet polite
way. But make sure not to spoil your
relationship with anyone for the sake of salary
alone. If you are not convinced, you can always
deny in a decent way.

Jobs/Vacancies › Approval Template For Adoption by Rubyjade(op): 7:29pm On Feb 17, 2023 |
Rita Babalola AITD, MCIPM, NIM, CMC
Dear HRMs, HODs, Group Heads
APPROVAL TEMPLATE FOR ADOPTION
Request : We are seeking management approval to grant the following requests:
1. Early salary payment. 2. Early closure from work on Thursday and Friday, 23rd and 24th of February. 3. Activation of Work From Home mode from Friday, 24th of Feb to Mar 3rd. 4. Payment for extra data for one week effective Feb 27th to Mar 3rd. (Choose options)
Background Information
In the last few weeks, the country has been experiencing some perennial fuel scarcity induced by higher pump rate coupled with the new naira design that has further compounded the woes of the average Nigerian worker.
Employees have thus had to contend with longer time at the bus-stops, longer queues at both banks and ATM outposts and staying longer to get fuel at fuel stations.
This has brought untold hardship and stress on our employees as the rate of late resumption and permission to be off work has also increased thus affecting job output, quality and turnaround time.
In the same vein, during the week preceding election, tension is usually high and there is need to tread with caution and avoid a situation where staff will be exposed to unrest and strife or caught in any riots on their way to and from work.
To prevent this, we are craving management’s indulgence to approve as stated above.
Justification: Approval will ensure the following:
1. Company is seen as being proactive. 2. Company is seen as being responsive to staff needs. 3. Early payment of salaries would ensure they stock up in advance. 4. Probability of loss of life is reduced. 5. There is improved staff morale. 6. Loss of productivity could be well managed to the barest minimum.
This is designed to assist Human Resources Managers on how to approach management in this critical period. |

My Mum has a business and she has many debtors running to hundreds of thousands.
She provides a kind of service that's run even after deadline for payment has passed, the client will still be using the service knowing fully well that they have passed their due date for payment. Even when you call/mail to inform them about the service has pass due dates, they will inform you the will pay and eventually they don't and still continue to use the services.
Kindly help with ways to collect these monies and reduce the debt of her company.
Thank you for your response anticipated response. |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: My fellow Old Naira notes employees, how are we coping. by Rubyjade: 11:59pm On Feb 16, 2023 |
thedarkened: After working for days, it was time to go home. Meanwhile, days before then while going to work, i noticed that my bank branch that's close to my work place was opened, unlike a week before and i was delighted about that; at least i will be able to withdraw some cash for transport while returning home ( that even prompted me to spend the cash on me).
On getting to the bank, the security man i met asked for my purpose of coming ( to my own bank ooo, when in the past, they were the one begging us to patronize them). i made it clear i was there to withdraw some cash; he gave the usual response, " we are not giving cash, there is no cash".
I was angry and confused at the same time. I had no penny in my pocket and POS was not anywhere around there; i haven't seen anyone and that bank was my only hope. So many thoughts flashed my mind; " will i trek from the island to the mainland"? " " Will I beg motorist " " will i go back to sleep at work"?
Immediately, i quickly restrategise by telling the security man i would like to apply for a new ATM card ( truthfully, that was in my plan as i have lost the one i was previously using).
After gaining access and filling the ATM card form, i was asked to wait, when it was my turn to be attended to, i was told the system is down. I was angry. Immediately i thought of using that opportunity to get some cash in whatever way it was gonna be done! After All, my going home that morning was dependent on me getting cash from the bank.
I quickly told the customer care officer that i would like to see the manager. She said the manager was in a meeting, thereby using that opportunity to ask for the purpose behind my request. I explicitly and sincerely told her my plight and its urgency. She came up with the usual " there is no cash, even me doesn't have cash". I asked her how she got to work and how she intend to go back home. After so many back and forth and how determined i was, they took me to one office and gave me 1500 Naira in 100 Naira denomination which was enough to take me home. I collected it and left.
Its Quite not easy going to work and coming back. But we are pushing. Eyah Pele |

I have a friend who went for their interview. In a bid for the business handlers to show they are working candidates were invited for an interview on Thursday and were given brown to envelopes and were hurriedly called on the way home that there's an interview to meet with the DMG the following day by 10:00am
According to him, his observations were as follows 1. They own the estate, the owners net worth is $1bn 2. They seems not to have computer systems apart from the administrative officer who sent in the interview invitation.
3. Fridays are some how sweet for the employees
4. He wondered why they did not tell them all the information on Thursday and still invited them on Friday only to repeat the same thing, however, brown envelopes were given some people who entered the negotiation table went home without even collecting the brown envelope, some reason they gave was they wasted their time and energy only to come here 120k Net for an experience hire in manufacturing, sales executives were offered 100k with a week paid (30k) training
5. If you are asked to come by 10:00am get there two or three hours because you will wait for them.
6. From his observations, the business handlers are sycophants because according to him, he watched as the chairman came in the day of the interview and watched the way the handlers opened the door with his siren and security details, however, a key thing is most of the handlers are men in their 50's
7. The children are most likely to take over from their parents as he watched as one of the daughters was on the interview panel list probably learning the ropes from the DMG and wondered will these men still work for the kids if by chance the parents retire?
8. The OPM seems to have limited power and obviously don't know what happening based on his interactions with her, he believes, the OPM got the job based on connections.
9. You are expected to accept the offer ASAP and resume probably on Monday, the question is, what happened to the ones in that position previously? Is a new factory? The accomodation is a for a single person plus shared toilet and bathroom.
10. He also observed that preferential treatment was given to an Indian that came for the interview, the excuse they gave was the Indian had a flight to catch, then asked why didn't they reschedule or do virtual (in his mind sha) even for them also.
11. From the snooping he did, he concluded that the business handlers are the one discouraging the man from doing certain things for the employees because he wondered how on earth a big organization with a workforce of over 2000 don't have HMO?
12. In conclusion, take the job if you don't have anything doing but you may not have a chance for other interviews. |
