Phones › Re: This Is How Fast MTN 5G Network Is! by saajus: 4:40pm On Dec 04, 2019
You are very right. I don't think we are ripe for 5g yet. MTN will have to invest a lot of money in changing some of their radio equipment and also build more cell towers cos 5g can't travel far like 4g. It has a shorter wavelength. We don't have any standard hospital in Nigeria ready for remote surgical operations. Many of us cannot even afford all these VR games or buy Galaxy S10 or LgV50 or other 5g phones. They should focus on getting quality 4g to every nook and cranny of Nigeria. They should make my village in Oyo state to be experiencing at least 15Mbps. After that, they can start investing in 5g. NCC should caution and regulate them.

BreconHills:
I am not sure how real your concerns are.

5G isnt about downloading, watching movies or making video calls which is the primary concern of many retail users. 4G is good enough for that. 5G's revolution is really in the space where man and machine become one For instance I can use a haptic glove plug into a 5G network and let a surgeon in America use my hands to perform surgery IN Nigeria. I can get streams of data flowing through neural consciousness devices so that I dont hear or view information - I think it! All this is already here - just waiting for 5G roll outs.

So here's the thing - these arent mass retail products so cost is hardly going to be an issue to the general user in simply because he is not the target market Those who use it will be able to pay or justify it through increased opportunity and revenue flows. It is at this point that the democratization of the internet begins to splinter into users who have and those who dont have. Certain aspects of data- internet- robotics - AI simply wont be affordable for the mass use initially. That's the reality.

Providers wont be insincere because not only can the speed be tested but the human augmentation apps and devices 5G is primarily intended for simply wont work if speed is not met. No hiding space for providers.

Expect to see some sort of compensation through an upgraded 4G plus at a reasonable price.

I think we both got it wrong. I didn't see it very well.
2073Mbps downlink and 122Mbps uplink. The comma looks like a dot. That makes sense now. 2.3gb movie should take around 9s to download.

It's the other way round. Downlink speed 2.073Mbps, while uplink is 122Mbps. Look closely

Do you want to be downloading 2gb video every day? 5g or 4g will not change your data consumption rate, but your browsing habit will do. 5g does not increase the size of the facebook homepage or increase your mailbox size or increase the Instagram page size. Maybe because it's fast, you may be tempted to do more activities than what you are doing right now. Let's use a real-life Scenario. Assuming you are living in Lagos and Govt finish a fast rail line that can get to Ibadan in 30mins. Will you be going to Ibadan everyday without purpose all in the name that it's fast to get there. The fast rail line may only tempt you to attend more irrelevant functions if you are not disciplined.

People will always come up with radiation Shenanigans. They did too when 4g came out in 2010. Some stubborn people said we can't have any OS better than XP and they get stuck in the year 2001 for so long. Change is the only constant thing. Radio Frequency is non-ionizing radiation, the same class your microwave is. It's not penetrating your skin. Scientists in the world are still researching. For now, the people against it have not come up with good scientific proofs. She got 122Mbps download speed and 2.073Mbps upload speed in that demo video, that's still very far away from the speed 5g can achieve.

You are very right. But, the whole world is leaving us behind. If we continue at this pace, we won't get to space in 100 years' time. Knowledge is so cheap nowadays that we don't have an excuse for mediocrities. Just ordinary 1gb size youtube video would have thought them how to do proper welding. I use YouTube to repair anything in my house.
If I want to start manufacturing phone, should I start with 3310-like phones when kids in China can read few electronics & communication textbook and manufacture iPhone-like phones? We don't have to start from the base, we can copy, paste and improve.

Its a start! Why are you people always pessimistic about ur own??

For the time being It serves the purpose its built for nd with time and more funding(hopefully) we will have a robust defence industry like the world super powers.

At least for starters we are showing defense industries nd its investors around the globe that we are open for business.

Nice one. People should be innovative. Who gives us those expensive templates we follow? If you are very rich, you are free to do whatever you like with your money. But, if you are poor, you need to be wise. Just tell people that, Prophet said we should not "make noise". That's a direct translation from my language. People rarely survive a plane crash, many great minds have been lost through that. Design something very cheap that can safely take people out of a plane that is about to crash. Parachute may not work cos some plane crashes happens in seconds.

Crash cement price to 500Naira per bag. Go to the lab and find a formula that can achieve that and source ur raw materials locally

"Crash any product crashable". Pick any Dangote product and start thinking of how you can make it 1/10th of the current price. Baba, disruption is allowed.

Education is very important. First, one has to believe it is possible. Study how WhatsApp, facebook, tiktok, twitter become great. They start and keep adding values. Luck could also play a vital role. Some products came at the very right time when their competitors are failing or relaxing.

Rendering values. If you can find out what 60m people in the world can buy from you annually and you make a $2 profit, you can make $120m annually. It sounds simple but it's a long process. Let me give you a few problems that can earn you that;

You are funny Bro. Even if we never go there, at least the internet has joined the whole world together. Google " Doctors salary in the US and Canada". The only way a Doctor can make such money is through inventions and patents. Salary of Daily normal Doctor in those countries will be in the range of $300k-$500k annually. A renowned neurosurgeon Ben Carson net worth is around $30m. Remember, he is 68 years old, he has written a few books and he's been practising for many years.

You have been able to convince your type. People are shouting he brought back our people. The Nigerians brought back are between 600-800. let's use 800. How much is a one-way ticket to SA. $500 average.800 x $500 = $400,000 (142million Naira). Let's assume he went with an empty airplane, 400k x 2 = $800k (284million Naira). Somebody recently donated 5Billion Naira recently to help his daughter's charity. Somebody recently built 3Billion skill acquisition center in Kano. So, why are we shouting as if he has done anything extra-ordinary? I appreciate Onyema good deed but we should not even be talking about it now. If his hands are found in the cookie jar, he should pay the price. They should fish out every politician he's fronting for and jail all of them to serve as a deterrent.
You are saying he's investing in Nigeria. Air peace has about 3k+ employees, if truly he's helping corrupt politicians, do you know how many children they've denied education. Maybe our own Albert Einstein was one of those children and remember such kids come once in a century. Do you know how many Nigerians they've denied good health care? Do you how many Nigerians dying daily on our death traps called roads. So, you want us to exchange millions of people for just 3k+ employees. Mbanu

jahsharon:
USA is mad. USA better bring back our money before we deploy Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen to finish US off once and for all. US that is still not able to battle ordinary small ISIS and Al-Qeada should not try us ooo. Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen are both ours and we can deploy them to any enemy nation any time.

This Onyema is simply a money launderer, helping Nigeria's politicians to convert our stolen money into legitimate business.

The good side of it is that he is investing our stolen money in Nigeria and helping to create employment unlike those that keep our stolen money in US, EU and Dubai.

I fell in love with him when he took Air Peace plans to bring oppressed Nigerians back from South Africa at no cost to the people.

In view of the above, since the money laundered is our oyel money, USA should keep shut and mind it's business afterall USA saw Atikuchukwu and refused to arrest him when Saraki smuggled him to US during the last election despite being on US wanted list. Deizaini, imPatience Jonathan, Fayose, and other looters have millions of stolen money in US banks but the US is happy about it because US is using the money to develop US drug and homosexual infested economy.

So, this what Nigeria's government will do; Air Peace will become the National Carrier. Government will take 70% of the company's shares while the Mr Onyema and the politicians he is fronting for will own the remaining 30%. However, Mr Onyema will continue running the company because he has proven to be a good administrator and investor of stolen money.

Additionally, there will be a Clause in the signed agreement that GOVERNMENT WILL NEVER EVER RUN AIR PEACE OR FULLY TAKEOVER AIR PEACE. We all know that if government fully take over the company, the company will go bankrupt in less than three months.

As for the corruption politicians that Mr Onyema has been fronting for, I beg let them be, if you want to arrest all corrupt people in Nigeria, our prisons will not take all of them. Just collect back as much as we can and leave them for the devil, he is still coming to deal with them.

Ladies and gentlemen, our accurate time keeper, the panel of judges and my co-debaters, with these few points of mine, I hope I have been able to convince you and not to confuse you that roadside prostitutes are more honest than US, EU and our politicians.

Least you forget, I am a Yoruba Muslim and I stand with Allen Onyema, I also stand with Buhari. And I stand with EFCC. If however, Buhari listens to bad advise and hand over Onyema to those white American drug addicts and homosexuals, I will abandon Buhari and stand with Allen Onyema because he has invested our stolen money in our country and has created employment and wealth for the good and bad people of Nigeria.

Thank you.

In 2014 Buhari said, "who is subsidizing who".

We are only consuming half or two-thirds of what they said we are consuming, the rest is a fraud. Take Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt out of the equation, a very few households in other states can boast of one car. Also, the majority of us only power our generators for 5hrs a day. Investment › Re: Home Ownership Is Mostly A Bad Investment- Expert Says by saajus:
Oga o. An Oxford-trained entrepreneur just dropped a vague statement like that. He was not even considering inflation, tax rate, and other indices. Nigeria has been averaging an 11% inflation rate annually for the past 5 years. If we continue with our dumb leaders and things don't change, your treasury Bill capital on simple interest will worth zero Naira after 9years. Remember, the property is hedging inflation. As inflation is going up, your property value is also going up. Also, you have to pay taxes on your Treasury Bill profit. It is presently 10%, who told you that another Govt cannot come in the future and change it to 20/30%. Property can crash too but we don't have a structured market yet that will crash house prices when they are overbought.

shehuolayinka:
A Nigerian United Kingdom based Oxford-educated entrepreneur with business interests in technology and advertising,
Dr. Tayo Oyedeji says home ownership is mostly a bad investment.

He said this in a series of tweets on his official and verified twitter handle, stating that home purchase for living is a bad investment.

Renting is wiser for most people. Don’t buy a house unless: 1. Mortgage is < 8%, 2. You can pay cash, 3. You plan to live in it for 10 years, 4. You need the psychological comfort of home ownership.

Rental/investment property is great. Home ownership is mostly a bad investment.

I’ll share the math on home ownership sometime next week. The home you live in is your worst investment. For some of us, it’s not even an investment. Don’t buy the hype, do the math. Home purchase for living is a bad investment.

Rental property is a great investment. Do the math. An average property in Lagos is N40m. Treasury bill rate is about 12%. Your N40m will yield N4.8m a year.

You can rent a good home for N1.5m and still have N3.3m left over. Your house is costing you N3.3m per year. Do the math.

Psychological comfort, societal expectations, and cultural norms are valid reasons for home ownership.

But when it comes down to the math: it just doesn’t work. I own a couple of homes for the reasons stated above. They’re not good investment.
