playboy19: The funny thing is, few blocks away from this school is Akala Estate, where in the month of January this year, i bought 2 plots of land for N9.5m. Just see the kinda public school you find in an area that cost that much. Mind bugling!
In Nigeria, you pay shyt loads for rubbish.

Go to VI, Lekki and likes for good examples.
It depends what you call "training for marriage". I believe while training my kids (both boys and girls) for life, they will equally be trained to build, nurture and enjoy an healthy long-term romantic relationship, i.e. marriage. When you train children who are independent enough to take care of themselves (financially, but also cook, clean, rent a place, maintain a car etc.) , know their worth while still being humble enough, respect themselves and others and are altogether healthy and happy people who can maintain healthy and peaceful relationships (with friends, family, at work etc.), I believe you have also prepared them for a happy long-lasting marriage. There is no need to keep marriage in your mind as the ultimate goal for their training, as long as you train them for life and good interactions with people, they'll know how to pick the right partner, commit and be responsible for their choices.

As for agiboma, I think the way you view things depend a lot on the sacrifices you had to make yourself to "fit in" the nigerian society, or those you feel you had to make. Though i want to raise my children (boys and girls) to know and respect the nigerian traditions (at least those that make sense to their father), I don't see the need to tune down any "western" character that will certainly show in them. They are as western as they are nigerians, and if my husband and I are able to raise children, it's because we build our family on values that are neither nigerian or western, they are human values (though the way they are displayed can vary, which will be taught to our kids) : respect (for yourself and others), honesty, responsibility, hard work, patience, humility and so on.
I plan for my kids to have healthy marriages that work like partnerships, I don't want my daughter to accept suffering or unfair treatment because she is a girl. There is a big difference in doing things in a marriage because you agree and are willing to do it, and accepting the same things because you see no way out, or you don't have the choice. I don't want her to "fit in" just for the sake of "fitting in", I hope she will only fit in with decent, respectful people, no matter their nationality/gender/age etc.
Absolutely fcking well said.

Black belt!
FamilyRe: by Sagamite(m):
Kobojunkie: How many of our boys are equally "TRAINED FOR MARRIAGE" in much the same way?

***hisses*** As if this so-called "TRAINING FOR MARRIAGE" even prepares girls for reality, let alone married life.
Maybe the more sensible thing to say then is that boys should also be trained for marriage instead of saying girls should not. And the training for girls should be more aligned to reality. Am I wrong? undecided

I know a bit about continuous improvement. Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen and shyt like that. And your approach will not get black belt in them.

Because when it fails both side lose but guess which one tends to lose more.

If you don't know, don't ask a Real Man because he would not give you a honest answer.

andromida: And men do not need companionship? They do not need marriage? Men are doing women a favour by marrying them? This thread is not about feminism but helping parents to raise women with a healthy dose of self worth, helping women to know they deserve to be treated like human beings and ladies/wife.Helping women to develop healthy self worth so they can attract better men and yes real mean. Also how to spot the difference. We all know alone is not good for anyone.
Not as much as women.

Woman offer sex for companionship, men offer companion for sex.

Men are on average less emotional. Men tend to be comfortable with far more multiple partners, and nobody should come with some lame "it is society". When you know it, it starts with a "B".

Biological, baby! You can't defeat it. Baba God lo she (Na God make am).

One thing that subtlely irritates me sometimes about women is when they think their emotional wish will change facts or nature.

As I have always said, I live my life based on reality and try and adjust to it as best as it suits me. A lot of women would do so well and improve their happiness if they did the same. What I keep hearing them say a lot of times is 'should', and I am like, "Shut up, focus on 'would'" (i.e. when it is not a man-made law)! Their lives would improve tremendously if they did.

Sit there and keep on hoping men should want companionship and marriage like you want it.

FamilyRe: by Sagamite(m):
stillwater: I agree with all that kobo has said. You train your child on how to live life, not on the basis of marriage. What if you don't get married? That is why many girls beat themselves up when they are not married at a certain age. As I mentioned before, some parents correct their kids with words like 'no man will marry you if you did this or that' not because it is just wrong to do so. Values like respect, politeness are needed in all facets of life. Teaching your child these values is just killing two birds with one stone, that you don't need a memorandum for your child to know when she/he is being disrespected before or after marriage.
True that you train your child to live life, but marriage would still be a big and important part of that life for majority of women now and in the future. Let no feminist crap deceive most of you. So it should be part of their nurture.

Biology trumps over misplaced ideology anyday. Women will always need companionship. That is achieved through their attraction. Physical attraction fades for all humans (although it is less important for men). Women need marriage, or at least it will always be a useful tool, to tie down the one they got when they were attractive. Women will always love and want marriage. Pure facts. I am not a Real Man, I will be blunt.

I know a lot of women will struggle with hearing such. You might hate the fact that you are pseudo-dependent, but your hatred wouldn't stop it from being a fact. Call me MisterOgheneist if your like.

I don't agree with silly rebukes like 'no man will marry you if you did this or that', but passing on the values of marriage will be useful to most girls.

MRbrownJAY: i do feel a little sorry for you now, as you are really making little sense, just to try to "look" like you do......
George Weah played for AC Milan which IS a successful team, with that said team he won the Italian league, so a successful team selected him, so i have absolutely NO IDEA what you are babbling about......but hey, some NLers may join this discussion now (like that other fella) and believe that you are actually making sense.
Was the AC Milan team he was in Champions League winners? Was Liberia WC winners I did not know about?

So how was Weah in a successful team? grin grin grin grin grin

Come on MBJ, lets use your own logic now! grin

MRbrownJAY: again dont mix apples and oranges........ it all depends on the sport: for athletics, the olympics and world championships are the holy grail, but for tennis IT AINT!!!!
just like in boxing, the world title belt in the IBF, WBC, WBO or WBA is the holy grail, NOT the olympic medal. many have won the olympic medal and golden gloves ONLY, and these people would never be considered great or successful boxer. but hey, if you think that Ali or Sugar Ray would be considered successful, even if they had NOT won any championship belt (because they won a gold medal at the Olympic), then keep on fooling yourself.
Cut the BS! grin

The Olympics is the bigger sporting event. It is the true global one with more sports and spectators. World Championship has far lower coverage, hence prestige! It is like the Masters of Tennis. grin

Off head, how many people know where the next World Championship is taking place? But they will know for the Olympics, right? Yet, the World Championship is in 2 years time while Olympics is 4 years time. Cut the BS. grin grin grin

So Blake and Tyson are not successful at all like Murray? grin

MRbrownJAY: again, dont misunderstand my point and dont mix sports, as i wrote above....... and by the way, the guy won 8 masters tournaments IN 8 BLOODY YEARS, how the hell could you call him successful?! on what bloody basis?!
I get your logic! So Weah, Blake and Tyson are failures too then, init? grin grin grin They could not win the ultimate in their entire career. Bloody useless sportsmen. grin grin grin grin grin

MBJ Logica! grin

MRbrownJAY: ....and yet you'd rather these courts to use the "assumptions" of some BS psychologist OR bitter NLers (over facts and evidence) to rule in these cases?!
ok we hear you, God, LOL!!!!!
Kindly explain to me how stating that all divorce asset allocation should be 50-50 is a fact and not an assumption!

Please!

It seems you are ignorant of the premise or the meaning of premise.

MRbrownJAY: again, as i stated above, you can claim/fantasize about whatever you want, but the FACT/EVIDENCES remain. the issue is that you dont want to see it because you are bias toward women in divorce settlements, so there is no point in me bringing them again. you automatically believe that ANY woman doesnt deserve anything, and thats ok as it is YOUR own beliefs, but the law and logic says otherwise......if you still cannot understand why, then the joke is on you, dude.
so keep beating your chest as loud as you can, but unless you bring your very poor points to court, and the LAW is changed, you will always remain just a NLers trying to be relevant in a discussion (when you clearly aint).

here are a few clues for you:
why do you need a valid driving license, if you can already drive? BECAUSE ITS THE LAW!!!
why do you need a valid passport/documents to go around the world, if the world belongs to no one? BECAUSE ITS THE LAW!!!
why do you need to pay taxes to the Gov, when you are the one sweating it out at work? BECAUSE ITS THE LAW!!!
why do you need to follow the rules of any country, if you believe that you are Sagamite/Boko Haram/armed robber or a thief politician, BECAUSE ITS THE LAW!!!
TELL ME WHY YOU THINK SHE DESERVES 30%! grin grin grin grin

Instead of all this verbosity, give us the "reasoning" that led you to that thinking! grin grin grin grin

You know you are cornered! A result of pressure. grin grin grin

MRbrownJAY: what the hell are you talking about? how can a footballer be successful WITHOUT A TEAM?!?!?!?!?! the FACTs of this matter are that GW was in several winning teams, and we therefore do not give a flying fukc about all the ifs, buts or maybes......... stick to the facts at hand, bro.
But if I was to use you logic, if successful teams are not selecting him and he has never been in a successful team his entire career, then he is not successful at all. grin grin grin grin grin grin

MRbrownJAY: do you actually read what i write, or do you just bring out nonsense writeups to feel better about yourself? who said that you need to win the Olympics ONLY to be a successful athlete? who said that if you are not successful then you are automatically a failure?
you are the one who presented them as a failure, i never said that (you obviously like to claim stuff that i never said, lol)
AM is the only one i said was a mediocre tennis player and not successful at all, and i stand by that POINT!....... and although the athletes you mentioned are NOT very successful athletes, they may be ok or good in their field...... now, as we know that you like to paint everything in black and white, i do understand why you bring these funny points to the table. if you want me to tell you what i think of these not very successful athlete (Tyson Gay not included), THEN ASK ME, rather than "assume" as you always do, lol!

there is a HUGE gap between a mediocre athlete and a great one. it goes from bad to mediocre to ok to good and then great. why you choose to put all of them in the mediocre category, simply because thats what i think of AM, is a clear sign of desperation from your part. you should EVALUATE each and every athlete on their performances, just as i did with AM.

take Tyson Gay for example, he has won the world Championship in Osaka in his field, so go back and read what i wrote about the subject before coming here to write stuff that is completely irrelevant, just to make a point. as for the others, unless they win the top races in their fields, then they cannot be considered successful athletes (no matter how many times they finish second)

sadly this is the poor man syndrome, to think that success for an athlete is only down to monetary gain, while i am trying to make you understand that you cant never have the glory or greatness by winning second rated tournaments ONCE A YEAR, or finishing second.
Oh!

Oh!

Oh, Oh!

Oh, shyt, oh, shyt!

grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

So you don't have to win Olympics to be a successful sprinter but you have to win Grand Slams before you are a successful tennis player? grin grin grin grin grin grin

So people that win World Championships are successful sprinters but people that win numerous Masters are not successful at all?

MBJ Logicaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! grin grin grin grin

If someone is not "successful at all" what are they? grin grin grin grin

You are now trying to redefine success? grin grin grin grin

Tyson Gay and Johan Blake are OK and/or Good? They are not successful athletes?

The only successful athletes are the Great ones? grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Ladies and Gentlemen, what did I tell you about how people chat when they are under pressure and don't accept or use logic and objectivity? grin

Akara arguments!

MRbrownJAY: is that what you tell people? do you actually think you make any sense or that there is any logic to what you are saying? one ant (aka Sagamite) is against the mighty elephant (aka LAW) and decides that his views are the truth without making any sense, and we should all bow to his words? if your words had any relevance, then why dont you fight this case where it matters, instead of coming here where your words have absolutely no weight whatsoever on the issue at hand. you can say/claim whatever you want on the subject, but the FACTS remain that this is the law and you MUST follow it.........but again, you are entitled to your opinion, so i will leave it at that, the day you make any sense, then come holla at me for more discussion on the subject.
I am the greatest! The best! The one and only! The God of thinking, logic and objectivity. cool

MRbrownJAY: who cares what is most likely to happen in this cases, we WILL/MUST/SHOULD judge these cases by the evidence presented, and nothing else. if you want to be the holier messenger on NL for divorce settlements then, pls be my guest and enjoy your superficial glory made out of thin air and mambo jambo.......but let us all who live in the REAL world understand that there is a law, that should be fair for both parties involved, and that the law MUST judge each cases by the evidence presented, and not what some psychologist "assumes", like you do. we couldnt care less what people think is most likely to happen.

- most 9ja women are most likely to leave you if a big oga spend heavy cash on them, should we therefore say that they are ALL goldigging sluts?
- most Nigerians would most likely do ANYTHING to get rich, should we therefore say that they are ALL money hungry greedy fools?
- most Nigerians pastors are most likely thieves in robes, should we therefore say that they are ALL criminals in the business to enrich themselves?
I court has to set a premise and default position on a serious case that affects lives before any arguments is made and, according to MBJ logic and common sense, no one should care about what is most likely going to happen to base it on!

MBJ Logica!!!

Abeg make I laugh for one minute.

MRbrownJAY: it is irrelevant WHY i think she is entitled to any money, the fact IS: if they cannot come to an understanding amicably and in a mature manner, then the ONLY solution is to bring an independent body to settle the matter. how else would you want to solve the issue otherwise? in a boxing ring? lol!
the day you have a solution (fair for both party) then let us all know, until then, i suggest you stay away from marriages.

I am still shocked at that figure considering I thought he only did shows in Las Vegas grin.
I had no idea Prince was still on the road and pulling in big bucks even under the radar. Imagine!!

Genius is an understatement! grin
That figure was in 2005 (it is in the first video).

Maybe he is in Las Vegas now, I don't know.

As I said earlier above, it is people like investment bankers, film directors and heirs of fortunes (sipping on cognac and 500 year old wines) that go and listen to his music, not some hood-hoppers or Alanta dancers. That is cha-ching!

I am sure Rihanna probably had twice his audience, so imagine what each audience is paying for a Prince concert for him to have over 50% more years back without even the hype.

Also remember Rihanna's figures (which is 2012) includes all her adverts and products, not only world tour.

Music/RadioRe: Femi Kuti Nominated For A Grammy Award For The Third Time by Sagamite(m):
sauer: You have no proof for your claim. Is there any evidence that Joan Osborne's bank account increased significantly after she got her grammy? In fact, 50 cent, who is a grammy winner, probably enjoys more black appreciation than white. Joan Osborne probably enjoys more white. If you limited "white appreciation" to "american appreciation", your argument might be a little more convincing. And american appreciation will in no way stop your music from being downloaded free multiple times on cyberspace. If anything, it should increase download frequency.

Plus your bet will lose. Though I dont fancy D'banj nor engage his music, I think it's fairly evident he earns more than Asa.
Sauer, this is one of the type of examples I am talking about.

How many Prince songs do you know? How many Rihanna songs do you know?

People like Prince sell to the upper market. Not kwekwe people.

Without an album and public advert Prince is making $87m from world tours only, Rihanna makes $53m from ALL her source of income.

Imagine how much each person that goes to his concert pays then.

MUSIC is in Prince's blood. A genius, not some commercial product! One of the fcking greatest guitar players EVER! And great in virtually all other instruments.

As I said, the foundation of his arguments has not been on logic and objectivity and he has refused to accept these twins when given to him so he is under pressure. When people are under pressure based on silly arguments they start making more and more errors (i.e. silly arguments).

He can open his mouth to say Weah is in a team sport so it is OK not to have won the ultimates but he is not looking at the factors that can affect good players from achieving the ultimate.

A little common sense will tell us that if Christiano Ronaldo was just born in another era, he would have won World Player of the Year multiple times, but unfortunately for him, someone called Messi happens to be playing in his era.

According to him, Thierry Henry would not be one of the greatest players ever in football because he never won WPoY.

His argument of Murray as not being successful at all is ridiculous and the kind of argument only a 13 year old boy will make and you will have to correct him by saying he should consider all factors and look at things holistically.
You are just a lying coon, else how could you mention ACN when PDP wasted 8 years under akala buying bleaching cream with state allocations? The ACN haven't spent more than a year and you are bringing them in to conceal the wanton failure of the PDP blood sucking vampires?
Come on now! Because of such shyt education is why you type in textspeak and think you are entitled to be called a graduate.

I hope never to be in a hospital at the hands of doctors that have passed through the same education you have been through.

I hope never to live in a house built by any Engineer that was your classmate.

God, please hear my prayers o! Mo ti fe ku o (I never wan die o).

I don't see what is wrong with what aigboma said.

Is the doctrine and paradigm suggested by Kobo what Western woman practice? How many of them are successful and happy in life?

Relationships with men is really core to most women's existence whether they like it or not.

What is needed is jumping to the other side to educate the men in Africa on how to respect woman and treat them well. Absolutely nothing wrong with aigboma's philosophy.

All these woman are equal to men will always end in failure, am sorry to say.

God, through his representative, Baba Nature, is not and has never been politically correct.

Why ask a question if you won't believe the answer?
You obviously don't need the answer since you made up your mind about what Nigerian woman are or are not!
...btw,m one of the few polite, fair and truthful Nigerian women!
Feel free to disbelieve that...its expected!
Because I asked a question and someone answers does not mean the answer is true. undecided

JallowBah: I am a white Norwegian womansmiley
And I cant make you believe anything, but hey; I dont have any reason to sit down and lie on a online-forum.

FamilyRe: Prenuptial Agreements Vs Gold Diggers: How Effective? by Sagamite(m): 8:40pm On Aug 10, 2012
davidylan: you dont have to compromise - find a younger woman. Most women will be comfortable marrying a man at a similar financial level to themselves as long as he is older, more mature and at least is around the same level as she is financially.
A nice 24-26 yr old doctor woman will marry you in a flash.
True!

Maybe marry her before she makes it as she is younger but you would see she has the potential already. Seen!
