CareerRe: Why Private Schools Pay Peanuts by Sagamite(m):
raayah:
This problem is fixable.
Teachers are not highly paid in most countries. Nigerian teachers are not even being paid livable wages.

The government should build and upgrade schools and make it free for students (bubu can provide lunch for them, like he promised too).
More teachers, smaller classes.

This will cause the most of the smaller street corner schools to close. The only private schools remaining would be top-notch private schools that can pay their teachers.
85m children to educate.

Gross Enrolment ratio at primary school of about 80%.

Gross Enrolment ratio at secondary school of about 50%.

That would mean, at least 60m children in pre-higher education schools (primary and secondary).

Nigeria's annual expenditure on education = less than $4.5bn.

That is less than $75 per child ..............................and this is based on my generous assumption that none of the education budget is going to Universities, Polytechniques and other Higher institutions, just primary and secondary education. grin

If you factor those in, $75 per child would look way too generous.

And you just open mouth yakata say make government "build and upgrade schools, provide it free for students, provide free meals, pay teachers more and higher more teachers"?

With which money?

And while GEJ's government has bankrupt the nation?

Just Lagos alone, forget the other 35 states and FCT, has over 1300 schools with 17000 classrooms. Do you know what it would cost to refurbish and upgrade just those alone?

ofofoCEO:
There is a drop of greatness in every Nigerian. This exclusive list mirrors the great endeavor of Nigerian scientists both living and dead who have left indelible marks in their respective fields both nationally and internationally. This list is not arranged in any particular order and data was sourced from credible and verified bodies both offline and online.

PHILIP EMEAGWALI

Philip Emeagwali who may well be the greatest scientist of all time is a Nigerian inventor and scientist. He has been living in the United States of America for many years. Philip Emeagwali is recognized worldwide and has been voted “Father of Super-computing,” he is ranked #1 in computing. And ranked FIRST by Google for “contribution to the development of the computer.”
The TIME magazine sees him as: The “Unsung Hero” Behind the Internet. We at amebo are proud of you sir.
Did you know Philip Emeagwali has a higher IQ than Albert Einstein? Okay, now you know.

BART NNAJI

A one time Presidential aspirant and Enugu state born Prof Bartholomew Nnaji, is an erstwhile Minister of Power of the Federal republic who holds a Doctorate in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in the United States. As a researcher, he focused on: Computer Aided Design, Robotics and Computer Aided Engineering. Using the knowledge he gained from his research pursuits, he created the term Geometric reasoning, the idea that most things we operate has a geometric configuration. He is also credited as one of the innovators of the E-design concept. He is also the founder of the first indigenous owned power generating company in Nigeria and was also a former minister for Science and Technology in the country.

MOHAMMED BAH ABBA

Necessity as they say, is the mother of invention. Mohamed Bah Abba from a rural area of northern Nigeria developed the pot-in-pot refrigerator i,e, Pot-in-Pot Preservation Cooling System in the 1990s. Northern Nigeria is an impoverished region where people in rural communities eke out a living from subsistence farming. In rural northern Nigeria, there are no refrigerators. Most people don’t even have electricity. So perishable food must be eaten immediately, or it will go to waste. He received the Rolex Award for Enterprise in 2001 and used his $75,000 award to make the invention available throughout Nigeria.

COLONEL OVIEMO OVADJE

There are many Nigerians who have made the country proud, either by their personal achievements or their contributions to the development of the country. But, permit me to say that, there is this one with very intimidating credentials; one who has made his mark nationally and internationally. As a medical doctor and a soldier, he has effectively combined the two for the good of humanity in solving the problem of blood salvage from body cavities by pioneering and creating a design- the EATSET to replace and improve on the gauze filtration technique as practiced in developing countries. This great son of is from the Isoko extraction of Delta State. He was declared the Best African Scientist in 1995 before African Heads of States when he won the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and Organisation of African Unity (OAU) Gold Medal for scientific work designed to save women who usually die from abnormal pregnancy (ECTOPIC GESTATION).

PROFESSOR GABRIEL OYIBO

There are always two sides to the coin” and so it is for the most controversial scientist on this list, Gabriel Oyibo, a Professor of Mathematics whose theory – “God Almighty Grand Unified Theorem (GAGUT)” has been heavily criticised by some scholars. Some see him as a madman others see him as a Genius but that notwithstanding this professor boasts of a very rich credential. Professor Gabriel Audu Oyibo obtained his Ph. D. in Aeronautics and Mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Troy, New York where he worked for four (4) years on NASA/AFOSR sponsored research and made several contributions in aircraft design, aerodynamics, aeroelasticity, mathematics and taught several courses. Dr. Oyibo received Knighthood by His Royal Highness, Attah of the Igala Kingdom.

Thank you for taking time to read, corrections are welcomed. You can also name notable Nigerian scientists in The comment section below.

This is why I like calling many of you cretins moronic fuuktard and I am justified.

Whichever cretin authored this demonstrates what I mean.

So considering the many Nigerian Professors out there doing some great work, these are the people this cretin composed and labelled "Top five".

If you ask the cretin now what methodology did he or she use to create this list, then you would see the dumb look on his/her face.

Products of a failed education system like Joromi1.

They just pick anything and say "Top", "Best", "Greatest" without any methodology.

If the cretin had said "Some Nigerian Scientist/Inventors with some of their great work" then it would have made more sense. But that is asking too much from the fuuktards our failed education system is generating.

I doubt MOHAMMED BAH ABBA even has a degree or seen the 4 walls of a science department, but yet this fuuktard labelled him one of Nigeria's Top 5 scientists.

Many (especially relating to Nigerians) aggreeing with something does not mean it makes sense or is valid.

Our country is full of fuuktards who are poorly educated, don't go through the rational process of ratiocination before giving opinions but yet are highly opinionated.

With 2.2, you can enter any university, bar the top 4 in my list and certain elite courses in other universities, in the UK to do a masters as long as you can pay and make a good application.

Imperial and LSE can afford to be picky purely because they are small and highly reputable, so very few bums to fill and highly competitive.

For the other top 20 universities, you will only have a chance with a good application and ability to pay. They would be hard to get into, but not impossible. Any weakness in your application and communications, and it might be cased closed. Also, they definitely would not take a 2.2 from the third world in any of their flagship courses.

Many of the universities outside my 2-tier league tables would probably take a 2.2.

PoliticsRe: Probe Sports Minister, Danlong, He Dresses Like A Cultist – HURIWA Tells Buhari by Sagamite(m): 11:16am On Nov 27, 2015
zik4ever:
A pro-democracy non-governmental organisation, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to probe the Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Danlong, over his preference for appearing in red beret cap and dress that “depicts him as a suspected member of one of the banned confraternities/secret cults in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions”.

The Rights group said it was worried that if appropriate clarifications were not immediately provided and the minister asked to desist from dressing comically on national stage, it could be construed that Buhari’s government had officially endorsed the particular secret confraternity that is identified by the adorning of red beret and dresses that looks like military fatigue.

The group said Dalong’s style of dressing violates extant national dress code in a purely civilian-led democratic government and must be checked forthwith.
HURIWA has also asked the military authorities to question the minister for adorning dresses that bear semblance to military combat fatigue.

HURIWA in a statement signed jointly by the National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, and the National Media Affairs Director, Zainab Yusuf, called on Buhari to call Danlong to order and compel him to dress properly and decently so as not to send confusing signal and impression that belonging to any of the confraternities renowned for causing intra-campus uprisings resulting in violence is now an acceptable national past time.

HURIWA said it had no concrete evidence to link Dalong to the membership of any of the campus cults but expressed strong reservations that his choice of dressing in symbolism and tangible costumes closely related to what some of these dreaded groups wear was worryingly traumatic.

“If the minister strongly feels like wearing a distinctive clothes then he can as well adorn himself with the validly permitted legal regalia or alternatively he can take a Chieftain title that will guarantee him a unique dress mode that won’t attract suspicions,” the group added.
