Who Actually 'discovered' the River Niger?

It's widely believed that Mungo Park 'discovered' the River Niger.

However, there are some unanswered questions to the 'discovery'.

Firstly, history had it that he 'asked' the locals (villagers) for direction to the river. If he was the one that actually 'discovered' the river, how come some people directed him there? Have they not been there before him? How can some people direct him to where he wanted to 'discover'?

Secondly, the locals are believed to be bathing, fishing and fetching water from the 'undiscovered' river. If he was the one that actually 'discovered' the River first, he should be the one to first bath or swim in the river. But this is not so.

Lastly, while some people believe that he discovered the River 'mouth', others believe he discovered it for the British. Why is there no generally accepted direct answer to the question "What did Mungo Park discover"?

He is not the first person to have been there but he is the first to have written about it. so the colonial masters gave him the credit for that.

I was at Transamadi Portharcourt when these young men approached me and started preaching about NeoLife,

physiology is a course in basic medical sciences whereas psychology is a course in social sciences. secondly, you talked about working in a hospital/clinic, physiologist do work in hospitals but the Nigerian clime does not value them. some friends I know studied it and applied for DE into Medicine. However, in psychology there is a field called clinical psychology. which course do you intend to study?

Life,they say,is like a walking shadow,that's always difficult to catch up. I had been nurturing the ambition of studying my dream course for some years now, I gave it up after for four consecutive years before I got admitted to a state university in the North to study microbiology.
I planned to obtain another jamb form in my first year of my current program,but was cash-starved,which incapacitated me from obtaining the form,then the following year (2020) I obtained the form and was given medical lab in UDUS.
In the next 3months ,I will be in part 3(300l) in my current Institution,initially I was planning of making a university transfer to Southwest university due to high level of insecurity in the North and here comes another comes another admission from sokoto….
I'm really at the cross road,financially buoyant enough as my father who's the only my financial pillar I'm relying on,retires in the next 5years .

Just wait it through. At a point in my life I lived without any money in my life, a degree holder. I totally depended on strangers and small buka joints for either free or paylater meals. This I did for more than 2 years while pursuing a second degree. Prior to that I lost all my savings, a fiance and a backstab from a close friend because of 1m naira.

I was depressed, physically n mentally sick. My temperature was consistently high n medical test found nothing. I had problem sleeping, I sleep like 1-2 hours per day and after some accumulated sleepless nights then I can do a 4hours sleep.

How I survived :I continously asked for help. I got rejected, embarrassed, was called lazy. I had no option. Never stop crying for help. Let heaven and earth know that u need help. This was how I got places to eat. I made friends with bike men I volunteered. The secrete is keep asking for help and stay visible, leave your room. Go where people are better than you no matter the shame and discomfort.

Seek medical help. I visited the hospital several times and it was later we discovered I was severely depressed. Again cry for help. Call any center where they deal with mental health.

Communicate with the people you owe. Give them updates, don't wait for them to call. Let them know you've not forgotten your debts.

In all my depression I kept looking for jobs, I had to pay my school fees, my academics never suffered. I got a job, it took me 2 years to pay up my fees and debts. Met a wonderful and crazy woman who brought me out of my shell. But after clearing up my debt, I was exhausted and having a serious burnout and it was affecting my job. Saved some money, quit a well paying job so I could focus on my mental health. I told my family my struggles and they were very supportive. I spent 4 months with my family doing nothing. After that I changed state and location where no soul knew me. I started all over, starting with less mentally demanding jobs, I was earning less that 50k with two degrees. I was healing and happy. I was at the job for 2 years. I got my strength back, a little bit of my confidence, learn some new skills and got another well paying job.

Dont stop finding a solution.

About death: life was so bad I even Google 10 stress less way to die.

Whatever you do, don't take your life. Many destinies are tied to yours whether you believe it or not. Even if you must die... Wait for death to come and meet you. Just do nothing.

Dont be afraid, it's one day at a time. One more thing. Take a pen and write down 10 things you want to b and achieve. Ten big things you can't achieve now, ten big things that only God can give you.

Stay strong brother.

Even though you have to work and walk alone, don't give up, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

This soup can be prepared with either ogbono or Banga or both(like in this case).

Ingredients used by me include;

4. Oysters (water snail)

5. Picked perewinkle (isam)

6. Banga

7. Ogbono

8. Banga spices

9. Banga soup stick

10. Bitter leaf

11. Sieved Water from The mashed prawn head(this is the secret ingredient of this particular soup).

If you're in the Medical science it's frustrating. If it is in terms of cramming Pharmacist cram more than Any medical and allied health profession followed by veterinary then Dentistry before medicine. You want to argue check their course outline.
Why? You most know the generic name, chemical name and brand name etcetera. A Medical Doctor doesn't know the chemical name of Acetaminophen,Lumefatrine, Ibuprofen etcetera but a Pharmacist does. Remember a Pharmacist produce drugs also. They must know/ cram volume of raw materials needed. Know the right way to produce. Know the quantity needed so as to prevent overdose or under dose. They have to know medicinal botany as source of drugs. Pharmacy is the hardest in terms of cramming not medicine.
Veterinarians treat anomaly in animals majorly, caprine,ovines,felines,equines, poultry, canines, porcine,fishes etc. Some will say they're similar but they don't just spend 6 years for nothing. They have to learn restraint method. You wouldn't like a cow head butting you, a dog biting and scratching, a fowl knocking your fingers, piglets screaming, horses kicking you. They have to a alot of animal science they do it from 200-400 level. They also have know drug interactions. You wouldn't like giving your dog chloroquine or your pregnant goat tetracycline. They also have to know anatomy and physiology of these animals.
They must know how good the meat of an animal is. You wouldn't want to eat a Meat infested with Bovine tuberculosis or eat chicken infested with coccidioidomycosis. What of milk? Fish nko abi feed for animals. Don't be deceived by those quacks you see collecting 500 to treat Parvo virus. Then weeks later your pet will be in continuous emesis , having renal failure, collapsed lungs them you start complaining.
What of Dentist? Have to learn about the human body while still reading about the orthognathic/neck region? Have to cram right volume of anaesthetic to give you when performing a procedure so you don't scream " Ahh Omo ale ni e" Have to rotate with Medical Doctors and later still rotate in Dentistry.
Medicine is hard because of human death which is painful but you wouldn't want to meet people who love their pets. You also wouldn't to have Parotitis or your child leaving with cleft leap , cancer of the mouth, Tonsillitis.
Medicine crams but not as these three I listed. You can quote for all I care.

Access to government education was tilted to favour ethnic Igbos. Out of 3 senators in Rivers, 2 are Ijaw. The deputy governor is Ijaw, the speaker of the Rivers state house of assembly is Ijaw. In fact, with the exception of Amaechi that was speaker during Odili's 8 years rule. All the speakers have been Ijaw.

Delta also has an Ijaw as a deputy governor. Despite deserving more Ijaw people have made room for other groups to be represented.

Also add this one: The longest serving senator in Rivers State is an Ijaw man Sen. George Sekibo since 2007.
