Valto:Lol, okay boss; I feel you. We'll all get there soonest |
Valto:Valto my brother, seems you've gone off grid completely? Nice one sha; we dey follow u for back. |
Valto:Thanks boss much obliged. Has anyone in the house been able to source 200ah batteries for less than 55k? Did anyone call the ibadan guy?? |
Valto:Hello Valto, pls one small question; where did u source ur solar panels and how much is a 250watts mono crystalline panel. Tnx in advance |
koonbey:On the said subject it's a case of different strokes for different folks, they are a fewb tricks in buying a naija used car, the first is to buy from a known source preferably a friend or acquaintance; that way u have a rough idea about the car and how it has been used and also the person's personality will give a sneak preview how he treats his car. Secondly buy a car that's cheap to maintain i.e low cost of parts, durable of engine etc. The ideology here is that if it's cheap to maintain then it wasn't a problem for the previous owner to regularly maintain the car. Thirdly and most importantly looking for a car that leaves some change in your pocket. Look for a small engine that's fuel efficient and gives better mileage par gallon. The money u save on fuelling the car can take care of ur next maintenance routine. Ur choice should also be guided by what you like and are comfortable with, they're pple who are Benz freaks, some love Toyota others just feel Honda rocks their world, that way u don't go blaming the poor car, if it doesn't meet ur requirements later on, just for laffs . So the ball is in ur court, my 2pence... |
odimbannamdi:That would be the ideal situation esp if power cost is a priority but all things being equal it's still cheaper charging from the grid than with ur gen. Fuel price no be here oh. |
Valto:Awesome Valto, I see u're fully set to go off the grid. Nice choice of equipments too, the inverter, batteries and charge controllers are top notch; like I would always say " if you can afford it then go for the ones that can take u all the way " once again good job. |
9ijaprince:Bros gerrahere men better soup na money kill am ![]() |
9ijaprince: bros abeg I no fit laff, second option would be to get someone in the US, buy and ship to the person's address and have someone bring it to naija as hand luggage. Saves u 250dollars as shipping to a US address is free... Cheers |
9ijaprince:I bought it on amazon dot com for almost 500dollars shipping and clearing cost an additional 250dollars. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008BIDBWW/ref=mp_s_a_1_15?qid=1461146260&sr=8-15&pi=SL75_QL70&keywords=sterling+power+ultra Check the link |
It's been confirmed that due to the huge amount owed FAAN by arik, all flights this morning in lagos has been put on hold, as labour and FAAN have picketed the airline and all activities holted. According to an arik spokesman talks are on to resolve the issue but on a counter move, some labour members say arik is owing FAAN over 15 billion naira, which has accumulated over years and that no flights will operate today until a substantial part of the debt is cleared.

Valto:Hello Valto, it's a good inverter it's produced by zinox and very durable. Got one for a friend awhile back and it's still working fine, he's planning on attaching some solar panels to it. Got it then for 145k with 2pcs 100ah batteries from yudala but the price has increased a bit but still affordable from yudala. |
Valto:Bros u're spot on, got a quote from one of my guys and for a decent solar setup we're looking at btw 300k to 350k; my brother that money no be beans and the house am staying is old, make dem no put leg for roof the thing go come scatter. I no fit pay landlord so i'll just chill for now until I get a better option. |
9ijaprince:Had the issue of battery not being optimally charged until I got y sterling power ultra charger 30A 24V, even when my inverter stops charging at the float stage,it still charges till it enters the trickle charge state, my batteries are almost 2yrs and still going strong and the charging speed na die. 5hours charge takes me for 24hrs, I have a battery bank of 200ah batteries x 4pcs and e dey carry fridge and all for house solar panels loading.... |
Owerri to lagos and back, twice in 2wks. Like the guy above said, get comfy have a sound engine; be alert and the rest is history.... |

sparkleRed:It's not a general thing in imo oh, it depends on family, community and of course negotiations skills, but some people dey vex sha.... lol |
Ada9103:Good to see u've come a little closer to reality, but let's get it straight u can only get these if the family is understanding and the father and mother forfeit their rights. Most times the paraphernalia is so overwhelming, this can account why our pple don't get married the right way, sh#t is way too expensive. I would advise babes and guys to start pleading with their communities to review all these and give pple more comfort to get married in peace. My 2pence.... |
Ada9103:My dear don't even go there, Imo state might not be this expensive but they're equally expensive in their own way, I'm from Imo state so I know ![]() |
iphunanya:No pursue potentials oh, this one wey u dey happy like this.... ![]() |
ladyF:I think say na only me oh, I almost went mad. I've sent mails, blasted dem on Facebook and Twitter and then it dawned on me that those pr**ks don't give a f**k, it's all about the Benjamins for them. The CC is wack and all act like uneducated zombies, after a while they stop responding to ur mails. Well this is naija afterall so anything goes. For the guy planning the court case abeg call me to testify I have all of mine documented, but those guys na THIEF sha.... |
Valto:Ritar batteries are quite reliable, that would be my first pick followed by Sukam then Luminous. My opinion... |
codemaster2much:codemaster2much, the answer is yes it does impact on your nepa bills because there's an appreciable pull when the inverter or ur external charger draws electricity to charge ur batteries; depending on the state of charge of the batteries the pull could either be high or low. If the batteries are deeply discharged then the pull is highest than when it's slightly discharged. But the truth is that pple with prepaid meters would feel it more as those using analogue meters will still get estimated bills and so it's all good for them. To understand what am saying use ur generator as a reference point, do u notice the pull when u charge ur batteries using either ur inverter, external charger or both; it's not a funny experience oh, my generator now burns 10ltrs of fuel in 6-7hrs, but the good thing is that the power takes me through for 24hrs with my fridge always on. So yes oh, there will be a SIGNIFICANT increase in ur electricity bills. But look at it this way, it's almost the same amount u would spend if the power is always on, so what u're doing is putting the power into the batteries and using it when there's no power. As simple as that, hope i've answered ur question |
bobojoshua what exactly is ur question?? E be like say that ur new phone dey show u pepper ; u go quote and never insert anything abi change dey follow affect your phone. On the lighter side ![]() |
sammily:Since u'll be coming from mile 2, U have 3 options: the first will be to take a bus going to boundary / ago hausa u'll get the buses close to the PHCN installation at mile 2 close to julius berger, stop at the last bus stop which is boundary and take a bus going to oyingbo stop at ijora olopa and ask of the Nepa office. Second Option, still from mile 2 on the other side of the road going to apapa, take a bus going to wilmer/boundary; get to the last bus stop which is boundary and follow the instructions on 1 above. Third option, from mile 2 take orile, stop at the last bus stop, u'll see a road to ur right with vehicles calling ijora seven up, take it to the last bus stop when u get there, u take a bus or keke going to oyingbo, stop at ijora olopa and follow the instructions on 1 above. Hope these helps. |
timifakay:Hello Timifakay, nice setup plan. Is ur battery brand new? If it is where can we get same and does it come with warranty? Thanks a bunch |
9ijaprince:9ijaprince good to know u have a work around ur setup, but from ur explanation it's evident either ur UPS isn't working to optimize properly or u have some appliances connected that u cannot trace. Personally I advise pple to use an inverter to power their appliances not minding the sinewave, most of the UPS bought second hand have issues, if u can get it brand new then it's a whole different ball game. As much as I appreciate cost as a critical issue I would advise we optimize our purchase and the outcome of our setup. My 2pence.... |
iamawara:From ur breakdown the inverter doesn't have an inbuilt charger so u might need to get an external smart charger to charge ur batteries which in turn powers ur batteries. |
9ijaprince:Brotherly, like ceejay80s suggested try and charge the battery using ur smart charger for at least 6hrs, if it still doesn't retain charge or discharges too soon, I would advise you take it back to the seller, but if it's past the warranty period u might try a lil trick I learnt a while back; get a regular car battery charger preferably a 2-5amp charger and connect to ur battery, leave it charging for about 24hrs, then plug ur smart charger to it and allow to charge till it indicates it's full. Then connect it to ur load; check the rate of discharge, if there's no improvement then u've lost that battery. NB: Second hand batteries were only proposed in this setup for the singular reason of managing cost. Please and please if you can afford a brand new battery it will definitely do the job better and take u longer. My opinion sha...... if anyone feels differently pls comment |
@darkhorizon and @bishop4life can we pls sheath our swords and go back to what we've always upheld on this thread which is friendship and learning. Una better pass me na; una go school me na "Ota akara" na him me I go oh, with my slate and kpanaka. Please gentlemen I say gentlemen cos I see us as such, let's leave our academic laurels at home and move forward. All comments and suggestions are valid. Both theoretical and practical. Each individual may choose to sway to whatever line of thot tickles their fancy that doesn't make it wrong, it's only a difference in perception. So pls let us let this argument be and continue our little academic and practical improvement. One love all |
KIKO720:Hahahahaha, I understand ur feelings, na so my guys take run come my house off campus; I hated hostel life, never stayed there even for one day. But I assure u it's not more than that. The Baygon is about #1600, sniper #200, and spray dispenser #200. The rest is up to you. |

when i av just 2pcs 200amps batteries and 2pcs 200watts panel.. phcn and gen still used occasionally, infact still important.

. going solar is the way so far cash dey. i was looking out for a very good 30A mppt solar charge controller and i was told 60k last. a solar setup that will match what u already assembled should be worth about 300k assuming u are going for a 60A mttp solar charge controller.
