habib55: .thanks, but does it mean i can load d ups with upto 1000watt load. Yes u can, but it's not advisable as the maximum load u can put on the UPS is 600watts; that why it written on the sticker. Optimal performance is at 600watts, like ceejay80s said from inception the less load the better and the longer ur battery can go. My 2 pences. Regards |

Hiploko: Crack: If a pregnant woman gives birth to a set of twins such that the first one comes by 11:54pm of December 31st and the second @ 12:03am January 1st. Answer the following questions : 1, Are they age mates? 2, which year will each claim? 3, Can they still be called twins? Small thing... just round it up to the nearest whole number meaning they were both born on January 1st, secondly a the end time of a process determines the time input, in birth the woman only finishes the process after completing the delivery sequence which ends with the birth of the 2 babies; again the sequence end on January 1st. According to most cultures there's always an elder of the 2 twins, in yoruba land a Taye and Kehinde; the first to come to the world and the one that comes from behind. Even though there's a difference in timing as both children cannot come to the world simultaneously they are still regarded as age mates as they went through the gestation period together na road wey no allow dem come out together cause gbege. dsunmade: You can get a 24V 30A 4-stage intelligent battery charger. May cost you about 90K. It is intelligent, senses and displays the charging current and voltage. When the battery bank is fully charged, it goes to float and you can switch off. It is also low power consuming, consuming less than 1 KW. I installed the 24V, 20A version about 6 months ago and it works perfectly. It charges over a wide range of voltage 90-240V.
In the picture posted below, the charging voltage is 27.6V while the charging current is 0.4A. If you need one, send me a message. Hello Dsunmade, how're u doing? I just stumbled on ur post and am quite interested in the charge; can I source it locally or do I have to order from you? Hoping to hear from you soon, regards |

pato405: But wait Ceejay, what does plugging the UPS to a power socket really benefit you? afterall, the reason for plugging it is to enable you charge the battery when there is power. However, in this set-up you are no longer depending on the UPS for charging (as you are now using a Smart Charger) or are you trying to make it automatic - power is supplied to your electronic gadgets as soon as NEPA goes off? Is that the reason? Pato it's important to keep ur UPS plugged in to maximize your battery life as well as the span, when it's plugged in and nepa restores light; the load is taken off the batteries and direct current runs thru to power ur appliances, so the load only begins to draw current from the batteries when the lite goes off. Hope u're clear now? |

martinz1: What you said might be true But the fan thing is necessary to keep the system cool For security reasons not to burn the internal component of your ups and also to prevent fire out burn. I've never seen an inverter that doesn't have internal cooling fan Even the 20amp charger u r using has a fan inside I deal on inverters so I can tell u that There are transformers and hot transistors in those devices that needs cooling if loaded and used for long period of time. U can also make more enquiries online about using ups as inverter they also advised in the same issue Good one |
Science/Technology › Re: How To Create A Locally Made Inverter With Ease by saint2ace(m): 6:12am On Dec 10, 2015 |
frehage: Please, is it possible to connect llike three 650va ups in parallel to create a 3KW inverter of sorts plus a 4KW battery bank to power a freezer(1000W), electronics(350W all together) and three energy saving light bulbs for 7 hours?
I guess a 650va ups can't handle a load of 1500W-2000W. Bros u won build bomb? Lol, each of those UPS are meant to work independently, connecting a series of UPS together to achieve a higher capacity doesn't sound tidy, am not saying it's impossible oh. But if u're looking at using the UPS setup, why not build separate power ports to handle different parts of ur house alternatively u could just get an inverter with ur rated capacity to do the job eg 2kva, 2.5kva or 3kva, u can get a mercury 2.4kva for about 23k. But let's be mindful and rmber what ceejay80s said that u don't need to overload ur setup, the fact that you now have ur own power source doesn't mean u have to overload it, cos that more u put on it the less ur battery life; and for optimal efficiency u must never put a load that's more than half the capacity of ur setup eg 1kva always put loads of 500watts and below for best performance, I'm not saying you can't go more but for best performance. |

Youngzedd: Thanks.
Solar can be integrated to it right?
Also, what company have the best inverter and battery? Yes u can integrate solar panels to it, but that means getting a solar charge controller to convert the solar energy to DC current to power ur inverter charging system. There are companies on konga that offer the full package, I can't give u a price range as u might need to research to find out what suits ur pocket and what brand appeals to you. Personally I don't believe in brand names, though I know some are better than others but it all depends on how well u manage ur setup. If u're looking at cheap then mercury and famicare can do it for u, while if u have some cash to spare luminous, Icellpower and the famicare 2.5kva inverter with built-in solar charge controller is cool. For batteries mercury, luminous, sukam, ritar, quanta, sinergy and leoch are all good brands, but a smart charger added to the system will go a long way. But like I said it all depends on ur finances. Regards |
Science/Technology › Re: How To Create A Locally Made Inverter With Ease by saint2ace(m): 8:44pm On Dec 09, 2015 |
Youngzedd: So with the inverter, all I need is just battery?
Also will 1kva power all the appliances? Yes a 1kva inverter only needs to be connected to the battery or batteries, and it will power what u just stated; but be mindful of what ceejay80s said that the more u add the less ur usage time and that's why his setup is unique cos it restricts too much load as well as being cost efficient. So I would suggest you look at ur load; how long u want ur setup to last b4 u make a final decision as to what you want done. Just for info sake, the 1kva with a 200mah battery fully charged with what u stated above will take u for about 5-7hrs knock off the fridge and u get an extra 3hrs. Regards |

martinz1: You guys should bear in mind that ups is not designed for long duration of use. Like 8 hours. The inverter component might get too hot. Its designed for short back up during power failure. To use it for long period u might need to include those tiny cooling fan inside the device.. Because all inverters has an air cooling system inside it Exactly, while we look at affordability we should also consider safety. |

Youngzedd: Can you give me the spec that can power small refrigerator, Standing fan, 24 inch LED TV, Decoder and woofer?
Cc: ceejay80sceejay80s: sorry for missing ur question. All u need is a 650ups = 1,500 100ah battery= 17k or 200ah battery =27k-30k 20amp smart charger = 7k or 30amp smart charger =10k wire and celotape = 300naira hope i've answered ur question Good one ceejay80s but I would advise he skips the UPS and do a 1KVA inverter which costs about 20k, that way he skips the smart charger and wires too. The inverter is better equipped to handle the surge experienced during startup of the compressor of the small fridge after which it drops. It can also be integrated into the wiring of the house, but he might need to monitor what comes on or off. Hope this was helpful. Regards |

Thanks a bunch for the clarification ceejay80s: The input power is 220v It doesn't consume electricity at all,its prepaid meter friendly, Model:1220A Input voltage: Ac 220g±10% 50Hz Rated voltage: 12v Constant charge current: 20A±5% Constant charge voltage: 14.5-14.8v Floating charge: 13.8v Charging mode: 3 step This smart charger is small and very portable, the seller even have 10amp of the same charger and the 10amp will enter ur pocket, the 10am can charge battery upto 12v 150ah, why I did not go for the 10amp charger is what if I have up to 400ah batteries? Don't get me wrong, 10amp charger will charge 400ah batteries but it will take time, The 20amp charger can charge more than 12v 400ah batteries in lesser time and una know how nepa take dey give us 2-3hrs light everyday, the man sells his 10amp charger for 5k, 20amp is 7k am not sure how much he sells his 30amp charger, |

A lot of things might come into play here, first ur passion plays an important role in how successful u are at any set task; secondly the environment in terms of acceptability of the course of choice and of course the job opportunities available at the end of this set task.
For me as an individual and I state these are my options and not skewed towards any particular direction is as thus: since u have have a diploma in engineering it's easier to integrate into a parallel course and since it's a passion it makes it even easier.
Secondly if u're looking at securing a job here in Nigeria u would require a course that gives u the best comparative advantage as well as alternative option; once again engineering does it for me.
Finally, maybe because I also have a passion for engineering I kindda think the title engineer sounds pretty cool don't you.
My thoughts anyway, the ultimate decision is urs to make and it should be based on what makes u happier, and of course pleas pray and ask for directions from the LORD on high and let him be ur final guide.
Wishing you the very best life has to offer. Remain Blessed |
