FamilyRe: What Will Make You Disown Your Child? by salt1: 3:58pm On Jan 26, 2013
valicious1: Both you and the people 'liking' your posts reason like inexperienced kids. There are numerous situations where children have done so many wicked & unimmaginable things to parents, actions that would make any sane heart drown in tears. Some years ago while I was serving in ughelli lga delta state, their was a case where a boy strangled his elder sister just because his friend got her pregnant, when the father discovered the hidden corpse in his (the son's) room the next day & was about alerting the neighbours, the boy dealt him with severe deep matchet cuts which left his skull open & ran away to an unkown destination. So if you are in the father'as shoes you would welcome him back to your home with open arms if he returns the next day.
Sounds like the young man had psychiatric problems. Possibly from smoking weed. The case isn't normal at all. It rarely gets this bad.
Parents know that children pass through a rebellious teen/adolescent stage as they struggle to define and discover themselves independent of their parents' values. But they usually outgrow this.
Disowning is like killing a mosquito with a gun. Absolutely unnecessary and people won't believe you

Eneze you didn't understand my post. If you read my previous posts, you will see that I don't support Muslims killing people and pointing fingers at America as a Christian country. I was being cheeky here. Did you read the end of that my post that you cited?
America is a secular state and they don't fight religious wars. We're saying the same thing

If the killer claims he killed for his belief, yes I'll blame xtianity. I still blame the brand of xtianity that produced Rev King and also the brand that causes children to be labelled as witches.

seanet01: So you admit that CHRISTIANS WENT TO IRAQ AND MURDERED ONE MILLION PEOPLE?
Well for your information, i am not on revenge mission, i am totally against boko haram, my grouse with you is your hypocrisy. You christians are quick to dissociate christianity from the murder of iraqis but are quick to associate islam with murder of innocent christians by Islamic extremists trained and funded by the brutal, oppressive, dictatorial and highly barbaric Saudi and Gulf regimes who are in turn totally supported by AMERICA and most of this Christian nations just because of Oil.
My dear, if America attacked Iraq for religious reasons, it would make sense. From your post, i know you are well educated. America is a SECULAR state.
Now, how does America's action in Iraq call for killing your own brothers, hunters at that, who may never have heard of America? Don't you think that your pointing to America flaws your logic? If extremists claim to be killing in defence of their faith, why link them with the activities of another secular state?
Your mindset admits of two categories: Muslims and Christians. So you classify even avowed atheists as Christians.

And even if Christian America killed Iraqis, should we kill our brothers and destroy our homes for it? A riffraff makes a silly film in the US and I burn my father's compound: how wise am I?

Thanks for the compliment but you don't need to be a prophet to understand their line of reasoning. If Christian America killed one million Iraqis, so what's the fuss about fellow Nigerians killing 18 ordinary hunters? There is killing in every religion, right? Does it make it right? Must the Muslims compare their actions with Christians? Is there no inherent sense of rightness or wrongness of an action?

Expect a lecture from the team on how Islam is a religion of peace: it peacefully severes the heads of those who don't share the same beliefs.
And oh! what are the other explanations? Islam is a religion of peace badly represented by Western media. Christians fought crusades one million years ago so who kills more. And blah blah blah

Are you ok? Just asking.
The Govt armed some people and sent them to a local market to kill 18 citizens carrying out their legal business?
They didn't force their meat on people. The business of hunting doesn't carry a death penalty.
But obviously, freedom of any kind is wrong in some contexts.

aribisala0: Why is it that we Yorubas hate neither Christians nor Muslims. Why can Muslims Fashola and Tinubu live with Christian wives?

Yoruba Muslims are not killing Christians so we must look for another explanation than just Islam.

Why do Nigerians deceive themselves so much and take all these foreign religions so personal. NO MAN has a clue what will happen or if anything will happen after his death. The sooner we realise that the better. Then we will realise ANY belief in ANY God or god is not superior to any other they are all without exception inventions of man
Yorubas don't hate Muslims or Christians because they have over 200 other gods. Why would they kill themselves over 2 additional ones? Yoruba Muslims are among the very few Muslims that are not associated with religion-motivated killings
Something does happen after death. I hope you don't die first before realizing it.

Why Islam is being blamed is because those that kill say that they are killing in defence of theeir religion. We believe what the people say of themselves or would you be lying about yourself?

1) You said "my people", so I ask you, who are "my people".

2) "Your post sounds like Nigerian Christians are being indoctrinated to hate Nigerian Muslims". Now, read my post again, did I limit it to one side or the other? Did I even limit it to religion or "north vs south"? Hatred is bad, period!
Hatred is bad! Sing it in the ears of all Muslims who like to kill Christians. Start the message in your own domain. Don't come here and sound sanctimonious. Period!
Who are your people? Your posts don't sound as neutral as you would wish, so it's easy to see and know who are your people.
PoliticsRe: Emir Of Kano Flown To London. by salt1: 10:30am On Jan 22, 2013
naptu2: We really need to be very careful what we teach our kids.

Some people have, from an early age, been taught to hate people who are different from them (different religion, different ethnic group, different colour, etc). This hatred has eaten into them so deeply that even reason, common sense and facts cannot kill it. Sometimes they don't even know why they hate, they only know that they must hate.
Now that you have not run away from the thread!
You sound so reasonable that it makes me wonder what I am not getting right.
Your post sounds like Nigerian Christians are being indoctrinated to hate Nigerian Muslims. Do you really believe this or are you just defending your people?
What is your definition of hatred? Is it someone talking trash on an anonymous forum? What is the reality on ground? Which group attacks the other's place of worship? How many mosques are razed in the South? How many Muslims have been slaughtered in other parts of the country due to their religion? Are their businesses vandalized? Who TRULY needs this your sermon on love? The killer or the killed? Who hates the other? The killer or the killed?

And please don't rush here with western media's image of Islam or BH being a political tool. The reality on ground is the true picture. Muslims hate Christians to the point of wanting them dead.

Please don't continue to insult our intelligence. It is plain irritating.
. Adultery differs from stealing. U can return a stolen item, can u UNDO d ACT? No. Islam distinguishes between sins. Adultery,Stealing,Gambling,Killing,Lieing are all MAJOR SINS but with different way u go about repenting about them. Who do u confess to when u GAMBLE? Ur wife? Who do u confess to when DRUNK? Ur friends? When u steal ,Islam says be remorseful, repent, don't return to sinning? The stolen item should be returned to d rightful owner only if it won't endanger u honour further and make u regret ever repenting. If it will bring more evil, just return it to where d rightful owner can pick it up. That is even if d stolen item is within returnable limit. Did u steal pencil in ur pry sch, or didn't u steal powder milk and bournvita in ur mum's absence? Now how do u repent of that and return d stolen items. God is not the author of confussion!
I think there is a fundamental issue here. We are talking of "the Lord", the Christian's perspective. I don't even see or understand what a Muslim man will consider as adultery when he is allowed to have four women at a time and if my understanding of the religion is correct, he is allowed even a temporary wife.
But we are dealing with the Christian religion where the founder said that every SIN is a sin. He also said that there is nothing hidden that shall not be exposed here and in the hereafter. We, who are trying to please Him, must live by His dictates. And that includes truthfulness, fidelity and transparency.
The litmus test is the conscience. A clear conscience doesn't fear any accusation. A true Bible Christian doesn't have skeletons in his cupboard. What if the adultery had produced offspring? Then the legal wife finds out after the man's death? Not healthy at all. The Bible says that some men's sins go before them to judgement but some men's sins follow them to judgement. Confessing to God and man means sending your sins ahead of time.
Do you know that people actually apologise to their primary school classmates for stolen pencils and offer to give them back? Children confess to their mothers for stealing from their purses and their mothers forgive them? Those who cheated in WAEC write every year to the exam body and some re-write the exam so that they don't go about carrying a result they didn't work for? Women and men walk out of adulterous marriages when they feel the tug on their consciences? We don't do what is convenient, but we do the right thing no matter how difficult it will be.

This thread is for Christians. But I like your joining in and trying to understand how others reason.
FamilyRe: Would You Tell Your Spouse You Cheated If The Lord Asks You To? by salt1: 1:53pm On Jan 21, 2013
Salt 1, God is not a god of confusion. You talked about human nature but forgot that God created both human and his nature. It is both divine and human to want to relieve ur sinful soul of d burden of iniquities but here are some posers for u -(1) Who do u confess ur sins to-ur friends,co workers, relatives or wife? U only confess to 'God'. God need not be told of ur sins in d open cos he knows d content of ur chest.(2) How many times do u sin and how many hundreds of mortal being do u need to confess to? Forgivess is Remorsefulness and not a outward carricature display of confessing ur sins.
It's not really as confusing as you make it sound. Iniquities are confessed to God but if another person was affected by our actions, part of our duty is to set the records right. If I told you a lie or stole from you, I won't be comfortable leaving you without knowledge of the truth or returning the stolen item. Read about Zacheaus in the Bible. He went back to those he'd defrauded.
In adultery, there's deception of another person by acting like you've been true. When we do certain things, like the prodigal son, we sin against God and other people. And when we repent, we apologise to God and also to those hurt by our actions

Pen might, christainity and human nature teach us differently. In xtianity, confession is a pre-requisite for forgiveness. And yes, God requires the past. A man with a secret on his mind is an unhappy man. It is absolutely necessary to come out in the open.
Adultery is a sin against God and against your spouse whom you owe fidelity. Confessing means you're repentant and ready to be held accountable, not living a pretentious life.
A real xtian knows that he must live transparently and when he falters, he must ask forgiveness from God and the offended party (even when the offended isn't aware) because the truth will still come out. Adultery, like all falsehoods, has a limited life span.
How I will react? Feel hurt for sometime but later respect my spouse's integrity for opening up even when I didn't know what happened.
