Christianity EtcRe: Do You Believe In Heaven And Hell? by salt1(op): 7:54pm On Nov 05, 2012
@caesaraba, you asked many good questions but just a few points of correction. The figure you called 444,000 is actually 144,000 of Jews sealed at a particular time only. Not the numberless multitude that will MAKE heaven.
Concerning Galileo's theory, it wasn't the Bible that said the earth was the centre of the solar system or that there were no other planets but the religionists of the time. You will agree with me that knowledge is increasing.
Concerning your dead ancestors, God said He will judge them according to their conscience. That is God's silent monitor and judge.
I don't know if this helps you.
Just a word of caution: something isn't right or wrong because we think so. Even in the courts of law, we don't have the luxury of choosing what we can or cannot do.
\What is right is right and what is wrong is wrong. Our actions determine where we go eventually

musKeeto: I like you. You sound really honest and cool. BUT 4k ur beliefs.. With this attitude, you'd be a good Muslim or Buddhist or even atheist.
But you see, I want to see a better Nigeria.. and these two foreign religions stand in the way.. people need to be more knowledgeable.. I do not aim to change anyone's beliefs, just put on your brains you claim God gave you and let's make Nigeria a better place. If you believe that heaven and hell matters more, sorry dude.. I'm not with you.. wink
Like you, too.
I want a better Nigeria, too. And believe me, I am doing my little bit to make it better. I am SALT: a sweetener and a preserver of sound moral values.
But morality goes with accountability to a higher being.
We can't make our country better by being ungodly and irreverent.

From ur creation account (which u humorously muddled up) I know you are conversant with the Bible.
The God of the Bible is looking for you and you SEEM TO BE LOOKING FOR HIM.
May you find Him.

It is amazing how many people claim not to believe in God until they jam a crisis: sickness or imminent death. Ordinary turbulence in the air, and I have heard even Moslems calling Jesus and Jehovah. Don't wait for when you will be desperate before recognising Him
Hell and heaven are real. God will judge you by the actions of your 70/80 years on earth. Your life here is a seed that is sown. It will germinate and bring forth fruits.

You aren't the first to ask this question. Pharaoh asked the same question, but I don't wish u the response he received. It wasn't a laughing matter at all

If you are sincerely confused, God will show you the truth
Christianity EtcRe: Do You Believe In Heaven And Hell? by salt1(op): 6:58pm On Nov 05, 2012
The heavy traffic on this thread has confirmed to me the truth: you all believe in heaven and hell, else why visit here? You can bluff, jest, scorn and deny. You can even look for others to corroborate your stand. But the truth is: you believe!
There is a great creator whom you are accountable to. The earlier you make yourself ready for the right place, the better for you. There are no unblievers in hell.

Sooner than you think, climactic events will happen that will re-shape our universe. Evil cannot continue or go unpunished. The owner of the universe will demand that it be lived according to His principles.
Be wise!

Christianity EtcDo You Believe In Heaven And Hell? by salt1(op): 12:54pm On Nov 05, 2012
From the comments I see on the religion section, I have been wondering whether we all believe in heaven and hell.
If you don't believe, what do you think will happen to murderers, armed robbers and all evil doers? How will they get punished?
If you believe, do you think that there are conditions that will qualify one for either location?

Is heaven eternal?
Is hell eternal?
Do both exist on earth?
Do you think about such things?
Where do you plan to go? Heaven or Hell??

FamilyRe: Which Is A Man's Happiest Day In Life? by salt1: 4:50am On Nov 05, 2012
The day I made peace with God. I had been feeling condemned and miserable but as I confessed the bad things I had done to God in a private prayer and promised Him I won't go back to them, I felt such indescribable joy.
More education has come, the dream job, the kids, the house/houses and a few odd millions have all come.
But nothing matches the joy of that day. I am not a pastor, before u think the dream job is fleecing any congregration!

To the BH boys, wielding koboko is better than detonating bombs.
Islam's morality seems basically targeted at WOMEN. The man may sleep with four at a time and hope to get 72 more at death but a 15 year old girl who GREETS a boy is killed by her parents who poured acid on her.

This is not true. My father was physically and verbally abusive and promisicouous. Infact, he beat my mom when she was eight month's pregnant and blood was flowing from her nose.
But instead of subscribing to this hereditary rubbish, my siblings and I decided we wanted to be as different from him as possible. We are all married and doing very well with our spouses. No record of abuse or infidelity. In fact, people come to learn from us how to treat their spouses. You can only be abusive if YOU CHOOSE TO!

maclatunji: Your post is riddled with sentiments. The implication of what you are saying is that GEJ and his government see and know Buhari as a Boko Haram leader and left him to run a political party after that. Haba! Even if GEJ is that spineless, the international community would have forced him to act against Buhari after the United Nations building bombing. Remove sentiments and think objectively.

Buhari is respected by even PDP members for his uprightness and consistency, Boko Haram members are not stupid - they know the government knows Buhari is clean. Otherwise, they won't mention his name.

A mediator's nationality is irrelevant as long as both sides are ready to work with him/her. Obasanjo is also Nigerian and tried to do the same thing but failed.
Wrong again. Buhari is a sectional leader of the poor that breed BH. Why the international community didn't move GEJ to nail him was to reduce the heating up of the polity which that may generate.
It must be painful seeing ur idol desecrated because the vast majority of us don't see Buhari as the saint you think he is. His silence in d post-election killings and his dogs and baboons grandstanding are anything but saintly. He is a fanatical moslem. To those of us who aren't moslem' the more fanatical they appear, the more violent
Christianity EtcRe: How Did You Become A Christian Or Muslim? by salt1:
Prof kenny: Please what is the penalty, according to the Islamic law, for someone who leaves Islam (Apostasy)huh
Quote me anywhere please, the day Islam becomes a religion of choice and freedom in all these Islamic nations is the day you will know that 95% of the youths in the Arab world are tired of Islam and are willing to convert to Christianity.

Mind you, I've lived in the Arab world for 2 years and I know what I'm talking about.
I lived with my grandma that worshipped idols. It was nauseating seeing her hang dead and decaying chicken in the house for protection. I chose to join the xtian faith and when she saw how well I was behaving, she not only encouraged me but eventually joined me and joyously shared her faith many years before dying with a smile on her face.
When Moslem say Islam is the fastest-growing religion, I laugh. The growth is not attributable to conversion but to polygamy, illiteracy and poverty. In UK and USA where there are some converts, many times, it is the lowest of the low, the black boys who are interested in violence and crime that convert.
If not for the compulsion element, many Moslems may just take a break from the religion. One teenage girl told me that the worst thing God did to her was allowing her to be born to Moslem parents. It is especially hard on the women who need an Imam to permit them to cough. And if it would take you to heaven, it would have been bearable, but the founder says you must go to hell too.
Somebody posted a list of Moslem converts to xtianity. What struck me is the number that have paid the supreme price for their faith. There are many more examples from Nigeria: the son of the Emir of Kano, Paul Ado Bayero isn't just a xtian but is now a pastor.
One of such converts to xtianity said Jesus met him on his praying mat and told him " I am the way". Nobody preached to him.
I learnt too that some BHs are converting to xtianity and being killed by their fellow members for their treachery

maclatunji: Your comprehension skills are poor, they want Buhari as a mediator - a neutral party between they and the government. Kofi Annan played a similar role before resigning as peace mediator in the Syrian crisis. That you got so many likes is an indication of the big problem we have in Nigeria- pervasive lack of comprehension and depth in analysing issues.
You are wrong, maclatunji. Koffi Annan isn't Syrian so he is expected to be neutral. Buhari is Nigerian and has been accused of being their commander-in-chief. No right-thinking person will consider Buhari neutral. They should've left him out of this to save his ailing reputation. But obviously, they are proud of his role and wish to be further associated with him.
What precisely does BH want?
PoliticsRe: Boko-Haram Gives Conditions For Cease Fire.. . . . by salt1: 8:59pm On Nov 01, 2012
Demdem: Me think u are dumb.
MEND named wole soyinka among those to represent them during discussions with Yaradua. Does that suggest that Wole Soyinka is evil MEND sponsor?
The two scenarios are as different as light is from darkness. MEND is demanding for adequate compensation for being the hen that lays the golden egg. They can easily ask Soyinka who stands for justice to rep them. You know that Soyinka recently threw his weight behind Achebe's claim of a genocide to Igbos. They know that Soyinka will be just and fair.
Recall too that MEND had engaged govt in dialogue but were ignored until they insisted on Nigeria listening.
Now what is BH, a terrorist group, asking for? Why shd Buhari be here if they are not sure he supports their cause?
His name on this list is a confirmation of what we had always known. The only missing person is IBB

MRbrownJAY: but of course......... because the real man is the one who isnt satisfied by his wife BUT GLADLY FUKCS HIS SECRETARY/SUGARBABY/MAID, while letting his miserable wife handle her miserable se.xual self by praying for better days. what a bunch of hypocrites you lot are. but then again, what do you expect?!

as i said earlier and REPEAT: if two people are not sexually satisfied and decide to have an open r/ship then LET THEM DO SO, as they surely aint complaining or hurting anyone.
Not hurting anyone? How can u say that a promiscuous couple isn't hurting anyone? Sorry for being nasty, but how pleased will u be with ur mom if u realise dat she habitually meets other men apart from ur dad? How glad will ur sisters feel with ur dad knowing he has multiple sex partners? Everybody is hurt when infidelity becomes public.
The bohemian lifestyle u are recommending is anti-family and pro-disease. If a partner is discreetly carrying on an affair (bad as it is), it still shows his respect for his family that he doesn't flaunt it in their face. Sex is just one aspect of a family's life. It's not all that matters even tho it is impt.

BTW, I just came to this thread to find out what open relship is.

I believe in the law of sowing and reaping. What you invest in the relationship is what you reap either in dat relationship or a future one. It beats my imagination how men who have openly boasted of being unfaithful even in their marriages expect their wives to trust and honour them.
@Timijo,thanks for this.
Men, treat d women how u want to be treated. Show them the love, care and honour that u expect to receive.
Investing in ur marriage doesn't diminish u. When all these adolescent boys blabbing on dis forum get older, they will realize that the love of one's family is d most impt relationship in life.
I honestly wish more people would look into adoption.

One woman that knows better adopted a girl-child. After a couple of years, she adopted a boy too.
Now she has those two kids, and they are all hers. Nobody can take that away from her.

We have all sorts of strange mentalities that need to be changed. We are religious, but lacking core christian values!
I think you and Mrs Chima are slightly behind the times on adoption issues. The truth is that the awareness is already so high here that there are not enough babies to go round those seeking to adopt them legally. I know because I have several friends and family members who have not only adopted but are waiting to adopt babies. A friend of mine waited for nearly three years before she could get her lovely daughter.
Adoption is love in action. How more can one show God's love than by picking a child who isn't wanted by the parents and giving it a name, an education and a future?
@topic, thanks for sharing your experiences. I have 2 SS in-laws. One continued to fight for her life until she died at about 35years. It was so painful watching her go thro crises. The last one that killed her she had right under my roof. The second inlaw migrated to the US where they seem to manage her crises better. She is now married with four kids: even had a set of twins last year.

CultureRe: How Often Do You Mix English With Your Native Language While Talking? by salt1: 7:24am On Oct 29, 2012
It is not limited to Nigeria. English is killing indigenous languages. Some scholars estimate that English kills 500 languages every year.
For Nigeria, I can predict a pattern: Igbo looks like it may die first and Yoruba may follow. Unless something is done like the Suba kwa Igbo (Do speak Igbo) campaign by Igbos in diaspora and Rochas campaign in Imo. Hausa is a trade language spoken in several countries and with their negative attitude to western education, it may thrive longer.

You are moving with the wrong crowd. There are still many young MEN and WOMEN who marry as virgins because they fear God and respect their bodies. They believe marriage is holy and the bed undefiled.

Christianity EtcRe: What Is That Temptation You Regularly Fall For? by salt1: 6:31am On Oct 29, 2012
As I read thro these posts,I thought of Paul the apostle. He said the good I shd be doing, I don't but what I don't want to do, I find myself doing. But he added thanks be to God who gives us the victory. So it's possible to live a victorious life over sin.
God is of purer eyes than to behold sin whether done by a professing xtian or not because he that commiteth sin is of the devil.
If you want a change, a real and comprehensive and lasting change, go to God and with a broken and contrite heart, confess every sin you remember committing, promise Him that you won't go back to them again and hold on in prayer until He lifts the burden and fills you with joy and peace. This is the born-again experience. It is not a prayer someone else will pray for you. You can have access with God and you will quit struggling to do what is right. You won't struggle not to smoke cos God will take away even the desire to smoke or drink

Billyonaire and umartins, I wonder why u like to contribute on threads like this. Is something telling u at the back of ur minds that u cd be wrong?
Heaven and hell exist.less than a forthnight ago,my cousin who had been sick died but was sent back. He is still on admission in the hospital. Jesus took him and showed him the glories of heaven and asked him to tell us that He is coming quickly.
For those considering last minute repentance,do know that if u continue to change, ur heart can get so hardened that no remorse can be felt.
Belief alone doesn't guarantee heaven. Old things must pass away which is the New birth

RomanceRe: How Important Is Religion In A Relationship? by salt1: 7:12am On Oct 23, 2012
omakay: Religion is something we invented here on earth. Love is what we met here on earth; we did not invent it. We human beings are good @ constructing problems for ourselves which we either solve or manage ( The latter is always the case). With love intact, you can control the issue of religion in any relationship be it dating or marriage.
I wish it was as easy as this, but love is a living thing: it is born, it grows, it can metamorphose over the years and it can die. What keeps many people married is not love, it is commitment. And that commitment is the product of their value system which was shaped by religion among other things. If the relationship is for a short period, it may not matter much but if you are building to last,if you are in for the long haul, you need to give it every chance to succeed.
Marriage takes more than love!
