confusion247: Governor T A Orji should stop deceiving himself with constant promises of road rehabilitation in ABA. Aba residence have left their ordeals in the hands of the ALMIGHTY GOD. This is the seven consecutive time T A Orji is making this type of empty promises in this 2012 alone.I was almost beginning to jubilate until I read your comment. Seven times of making this promise? What did Aba do to him? |
wiegraf: If all this is true then at the very least y'all hearts in the right place. Bravo and $deityspeedThanks. I really have no reason not to tell the truth. The info here is common knowledge and verifiable. Bless you! |
Image123: thank you. Though i seriously doubt AFC needs or appreciates this advertisement. You're right. I wasn't doing it on behalf of AFC but forumites who hastily classify and label ALL churches and their pastors. Knowledge, they say, is power. |
But my view is simply Christians should champion the cause of openness and transparency and compel their churches to put everything out in the open. A lot of the people on this forum are Christians, many are workers in church and many are pastors etc with a nairaland alter ego. So lets get the real information.
This is the real info abt Apostolic Faith Church 1. There is no collection plate passed in any of the 600+ branches in Nig nor any branch in the world 2. There is tithe/offering box located at entrances to churches where people can go secretly and at their convenience to drop their support 3. The church has very few fulltime pastors and pastors don't have access to offering boxes but treasurers have 4. The money is shared according to percentages depending on need: running the church(fueling gensets and gospel buses, paying the drivers, charity) etc 5.On 31 Dec night, the leader gives a financial report to all members. External auditors also go through the church accounts 6. The church organises periodic charity days where new and used-but-still-good items donated by members are put on display and anybody can pick 7.The Nig church has leadership role for 22 African countries and some of those countries are dirt poor so food, clothes and money contributed by members are sent to these countries. Missionaries are sent to them and they also send their folks to Nig to learn Music and mission work 8. The church visits hospitals, prisons, blind centres and schools every week. Church vehicles are used for these visits. 9. AFC runs several secondary schools and has Crawford University. 80% of staff are church members and many members children are on full or partial scholarship in these fledgling schools. Can our District Superintendent buy a jet from our tithes? Absolutely No. We need money to buy cane guides and Braille boards for the blind people we visit. We want to give it to them as Xmas gift. How do I know this? I am in that team that visits them! |
SELFWORTH: but the grace of God (regardless of the age of the woman) REMAINS the same for everyone who believes in Him. Fertility is not a guarantee that you will have a child or keep a young or old husband interested in you so please check your facts properly.I don't understand you at all. Are you saying that by God's grace, a woman who is approaching menopause is as fertile as someone younger? You know that isn't true. How is fertility not a guarantee that you will have a child? The man wrote a scientifically proven fact that fertility, esp the woman's own decreases with age and you say its foolish! Women should marry early enough to have their first child early too. Menopause comes earlier these days; some as early as 35. They shdn't swell the ranks of those seeking for miracle pregnancies from pastors. That is, if they can help it. Some refuse serious men when they are young thinking suitors can continue to come forever |
ebizswit: Someone, about 37 is proposing, nd am 22, though he looks under 30sha...is d age difference way too muchFollow your gut instincts. Age shouldn't be the only consideration. Just be certain that, at 22, you are ready to cope physically and emotionally with wifehood. One danger of marrying a bit early is that later, you may feel that you sacrificed your youth and so may be tempted to adultery. Especially if you didn't finish university education. @topic, age difference is a cultural thing. Yorubas generally marry their age-mates or the woman may even be slightly older. People suspect that is why they are polygamous because their wives age faster than them. A man of 60 doesn't think he is as old as a woman of 60. Igbos generally marry women up to or more than 10yrs younger than them. They want until they hammer and then bring in a young wife to enjoy it and give them children. Marrying a young girl ensures you have a residential nurse even in your old age, and not a grandma needing care too. Hausas? Make I no talk! We all know they catch them young. Love is blind,eh? Someone said that at age 15 or 16, it's not only blind but is also deaf and dumb! |
With Martin Elechi, Ebonyi isn't stagnant but regressing. He isn't a governor but a tyrant. He would have made a good military leader. He is also very old so challenging him is difficult. 2015 may give Ebonyi a governor. T. A.orji destroyed the only commercial city. Aba looks like a wasteland. Sullivan is the best: investing heavily in infrastructure. Rochas is adding life to Owerri and Peter Obi speaks good English |
Poster is just creating stereotypes and feeding on people's desire to make themselves good by mocking those who are modest. Who says appearance doesn't matter? The police interrogate peoPle for LOOKING like criminals. How you look is a reflection of what is inside you. I also don't see parents' desire for the best for their children as interference. Most mothers can intuitively tell who is good enough for their children so how will securing their approval and blessing be considered intrusive? It is the person's decision alright but no one lives or dies alone. Seeing me happy adds to my parents' joy so I waited until they approved of my choice and we are all happy together. Girls, think twice before entering a home where the parents of the man don't want you. When you marry a man,you marry his family |
Wsdm: Read your comment and mine over again and tell me the one that depicts " angry faith". Also, the same sex marriages approved by some churches in Europe have made me so quick to also assert this one to you frequently edited religion. Is it the first time you are hearing of Islam being described as an angry faith? With all the beheadings, amputations, stonings and other forms of violence going on in Islam, what do you expect people to think? What business does an European church have with Japan? Is Japan a Christian country? I told you that when you're ignorant, you should just be silent and learn. |
Wsdm: ...So the priest is suffering fro brain leakage not the Christianity he stands for? If he was to be a Muslim now, people will start raining uncontrollable abuses on Islam. Although Muslims are reading these thrash but will never use it to attack Christianity. Which of these two is more matured?Typical! In Islam, you need permission to LAUGH! Everything is viewed with such pessimism that it is ungodly to smile. Must everything be tied to your religion? And unfortunately, in your mind, there are only 2 religions: Islam and Christianity even for a country like Japan that may not have either. Silence is golden. Even a fool is considered wise until he opens his mouth. Is it our fault if your religion is a glum, angry faith? Next time you see a post like this, just jump and pass instead of passing your gloom to others. |
Timijo is right. Everything you wrote is obvious. But maybe instead of tagging it doing better, you can just say how women are different from men. At conception level the y chromosome swims faster but also dies quicker than the x. More female babies also survive at birth. The male aggressive spirit also causes more accidents in driving. Or how many fatal accidents had female drivers? Wives generally survive their husbands even when their ages are close. The men burn out quicker |
Jutresbien: It'll be nice to see those portions where early xtians acknowledged Jesus as God in human flesh. What I'm familiar with is Peter's statement 'YOU ARE THE CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD'-Matt 16:16. 1ST JOHN 4:9 calls him the ONLY BEGOTTEN SONYou really are not acquainted with the Bible. 1. Thomas after His resurrection called Him my Lord and my God 2.John says in the beginning,He was. All things were made by Him and without Him was not anything made John 1:1 -12 which shows His pre-existence before He was made flesh 3. Himself said before Abraham I am 4. Peter said God had appointed Him both Lord and Christ Acts 2:36 This is the controvery: is Jesus God? Did He exist before His incarnation? Is He divine? To all these questions, I answer YES. A poster asked me to provide facts. The only facts I have are Bible-based and my personal experiences. If you don't accept these two, do believe what you like but remember that God has appointed Jesus to be the final judge |
The word trinity isn't in the Bible but is implied. This is the very reason Jesus was killed: He claimed to be the son of God, making Him equal with God. Jesus is divine. He accepted worship, and yet taught that only the godhead is to be worshipped. Thomas called Him "my LOrd and my God" and He didn't correct him. He controlled/s the elements. Our understanding is limited but until we are made perfect May the grace of our LORD JESUS CHRIST , the love of GOD and the sweet fellowship of the HOLY SPIRIT abide with you all. |
Nairaland: Where fun meets fight |
guruobinna: Udara si, "onaya mmuru nwa ana apiwa onu" meaning i mine the only person dat give birth 2 a child its mouth pple torn asunderThis your translation is most hilarious! Are you for real or are you a ghost from the time of the District Commissioners of the colonial period when they had half-educated interpreters? You must really be a guru, guruobinna! |
Dog: humans give me food, love and shelter. They must be my god. Cat: humans give me food, love and shelter. I must be their god |
maclatunji: I can assure you that this Boko Haram problem will be brought under control the day Christians remove religious sentiments in reacting to it. I can almost say some of them love Boko Haram because it gives them the chance to call Islam and Muslims names. One day, maybe, one day, I will begin to understand you. I am still waiting for that day. How will Christians removing religious sentiment affect guerrilla attacks on innocent citizens? How can any sane person, godly or ungodly, love BH's activities because they derive pleasure from insulting Islam? We are outraged! We are saddened! If this news is true, then some 20 (or as someone has reduced it to 5 which doesn't make it any less painful)families have just lost wives, daughters, sisters. How can anybody hear that and not curse whatever mindset or ideology that brought the action? Were people not outraged about the UniPort students? Did emotions not run high? In fact even higher than the Mubi killings; because violence is now nearly synonymous with the North? It's insensitive comments like this that worry some of us non-Moslems. Does your religion strip you of humanity? If Moslems don't mind dying, why won't they let others who want to live to live their lives? |
begwong: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE WITH THE DEPOSED REGIME OF MUBARAK THENThis reminds me of George Orwell's Animal Farm. The animals chased out the human dictators but turned round to tyrannize their fellow animals. At first "all animals are equal". After sometime "all animals are equal but some are more equal than others". It's not just Moslems. It is the human psyche. Sorry to those who ousted the former leader. They must be so disenchanted if this is true. |
9lifes: So no scriptures on marital abuse and divorcing on that ground? And your point is? From your user name, you are male. Are you in an abusive relationship? No. Your questions are basically hypothetical. Those who feel it know it and many marriages have survived and improved even though the couple had such a challenge early in the relationship. With surviving, I don't mean the woman meekly took on the beatings. I mean she identified what the triggers were for the man and worked on herself and with him to remove those triggers. Nobody is judging divorcees. They are often the ones at pain to explain to whoever will listen why their marriages crashed. I have a friend who is divorced. She's always trying to explain her own role in the rift. Maybe talking that way is therapeutic for her, otherwise, she is inwardly blaming herself that she could've handled their differences better, especially since the happiness of 3 children is concerned. One who had separated from her husband for 6 years and had vowed never to go back because he was physically and verbally abusive has just made up with him and is sounding sooooo happy! Divorce? NEVER! Separation? MAYBE! But no remarrying |
modelmike7: . . . . . . They all got swags mehn!! I use to be like them when i was their age. These are d models of the nearest future!!Are you now a super male model? Just curious |
9lifes: You did not answer my question. What did bible say about marital abuse? Why did you single out marital abuse? What of not finding your partner sexually appealing? Or quarrelling with your mother-in-law? Or her not respecting you because you became broke? Any EXCUSE (because that is what they are) for ending a marriage should be weighed against the backdrop of the Bible. That is, if you believe in the God of the Bible in the first place. If you don't accept the Bible standard, go and look for another accomplice who will tell you your position is ok and not to worry. But that person won't be me. Relationships aren't easy and can always be worked upon, instead of thrown away. If you check research results, second marriages last even shorter than first ones. So rather than hastily throw the first one away, why not build it to last? |
9lifes: Vows have conditions, people change and what happens when a partner stops loving..then the other should hope and stay right?Don't your think your explanation of that scripture is isolated and distorted? And what does the bible say about marital abuse?Vows have conditions, right. The vow of marriage has one condition: "binding till death". If you realise how long it will last, then you will take care before plunging into it. And if you have already contracted it, you live with the results of the decisions you have taken. You see, this discussion reminds me of when Jesus and His followers had a similar discussion on marriage, Matt 19: 9 " whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth committeth adultery V12: He that is able to receive it, let him receive it. That is God's standard and He's not lowering it for anybody's sake. Unless, of course, you have no intention of meeting Him in heaven |
Acidtalk, i didn't know you had triplets ![]() |
I am unashamedly anti-divorce. Separation for adultery? Yes. But divorce and remarriage? NEVER The vows are religious. And even if it wasn't clearly spelt out in the Bible, a vow is a vow. Ever heard of swearing to your own hurt but not changing your words. God keeps His promises to us and He expects us to keep the promises we make to others. Now where is the vow in the Bible 1. Rom 7: 2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. If this is not "Till death do you part" I don't know what is. 2. Eph 5: 28 men to love their wives ......but nourisheth and cherisheth it Doesn't this sound " promise to love, cherish and protect " In this adulterous era, people are making fun of everything godly. And they can have a field day; marrying and divorcing at will. But that doesn't make them right. It seems as if people are looking for every reason to quit their marriages. If they had the understanding that marriage is for life, and that no adulterer will enter heaven, they will give some thoughts before hopping into a relationship that they plan to hop out of at the slighest sign of trouble. |
dokunbam: good thinking, what of the quality of the product?I have used their customized plastic products and it was wa oh! If you are thinking of quality customized souvenirs for ceremonies, the Innoson products are unique |

There is a thread ofn Nairaland How can one determine the sex of their unborn baby. You can read my recommendations there. I have 2 boys and 2 girls. None is superior to the other because I love each of them and I am grateful to God for the privilege of being a parent. Ignore the Chinese calendar hoax. It's not scientific |
vislabraye: I have heard a doctrine of the Curse of the first Born. Speaking strictly about male children. From the scriptures we have, Cain, Ham son of Noah, Esau. Reuben, Manasseh. To mention but a few. Please don't use your observation to bring in things that aren't Biblical or true. Ham wasn't even Noah's firstborn but second child. Cain wasn't cursed for being a firstborn but for being irreverent. So was Reuben: of all the women in the world, he chose to sleep with his father's mistress. Esau wasn't even cursed but he received a lesser blessing than Jacob did because of his laissez-faire attitude. Actions or inactions carry consequences. Those that honour God, He will honour. Check out these wonderful first born sons: Enoch, Noah, Samuel, and of course Jesus! There is no such thing as curse on the first born |
Yes i do know a lot about the church. I am not a pastor there but I join in little acts of service, like visiting schools and blind centres No we don't send ministers to preach in Redeemed or Mountain. They have their own ministers and pastors |
This is how I believe events of the future will pan out. The order is chronological 1. Rapture:Literal but secret taking away of the people of God 1 Thesa 4: 15- 17 2. Revelation of the anti-christ: Three and half years of peace followed by three and half years of great tribulation Rev 13:1 - 18 3. Marriage supper of the Lamb happening concurrently with the anti-christ regime on earth Rev 19: 6 - 8 4. Armaggeddon where the armies of the anti-christ will oppose the literal return and reign of Christ and His saints Rev 19: 11 - 21 5. The Millenial Reign: the forces of the anti- christ are defeated ushering in 1000years' reign of peace Rev 20: 1 - 6 6. Gog and Magog:After the Millenial reign, the world is given the chance of choosing to continue worshipping God or worshipping Devil. They still choose evil and are destroyed in the Battle of Gog and Magog Rev 20: 7 - 10 7. White Throne Judgement:All ungodly dead are resurrected to face God in judgement Rev 20: 11 - 15 8. New Heaven and new Earth:the present heaven and earth are melted with fervent heat and new world is established that lasts forever Rev 21 and Rev 22 Do you believe in this order? Do you think Armaggeddon is literal or figurative? |
