Islam is spreading in the South East but the reason is not conversion. It is that a large population of Northern Muslims are running away from the BH slaughters and finding refuge in the South East. I have visited Owerri, Port Harcourt, parts of Anambra and Ebonyi and was amazed at the increase in the number of shoe shiners, mai guards, dollar sellers and beggars. In Owerri particularly, it is becoming an eye sore with the number of women beggars and little children roaming the streets. The Hausas control the cattle market too.
But to insinuate that the increase is through conversion of Christians to Muslims, you are on a long thing. If it was so common, why would this make headline news? Insignificant as this poorly educated village head is, and in a context where he doesn't wield any authority (Igbos are too egaliterian for that) the Muslims still celebrate it, at least on NL

Let me be cheeky here. If you remove the North East and North West regions and recalculate Nigeria's growth and development rate, you will be surprised at how vast the difference can be. These regions' backwardness, illiteracy, poverty, disease affect Nigeria's ratings the way a few F's affect the cumulative of an otherwise brilliant student.
In a recent CBN study, Jigawa had 95% poverty rate. Other states in those regions were equally poor. It is the same low figures for school enrolment and high figures for drop out and completion rates.
And instead of tackling such massive challenges, the people from the region are grasping for political power which they have held for long and it didn't make their people any better.

Population of MUslims growing in Ebonyi State? Don't be too sure! I know of a community that has a Muslim school and offers free education provided you agree to convert to Islam. The poor villagers agree to these terms and become temporary Muslims until they finish school, drop Islam and wed in church. There are those who're paid every month to propagate Islam but the villagers generally regard them as mad people. This man may be looking for such a cheap source of income

I've been married for a long time and I know it's absolutely impossible to be in love with your spouse all the time. We fall in and out of love but it's uSually with the same person. Even our kids, whom we love unconditionally, can get us to the point of bitterness but we get over those resentments and love them all over.
@poster, there's another person you're comparing with your legally married wife. 3 isn't company in marriage. Cut Off that other relationship before you do something silly and shameful. You also may not remember that the President of Nig needs a certain percentage of votes from alL regions, votes that the North may not easily get cos they don't have critical mass of Northerners living outside the North. I think BH knows these facts and is struggling to reduce southern and christian presence in the North to ensure no Southern gets the minimum votes required.

Don't mind them. Look at the list again. CPC rigged in Katsina, Zamfara, Adamawa,Kaduna, Sokoto, Bauchi, Borno, Nassarawa and still lost the Presidential. election. They presented under-aged voters, did multiple voting and used coercion and imagined that PDP was doing same in the south.
In some states where PDP rigged, they still lost. They lost in Imo. They lost some senatorial positions in Anambra. the 2011 election has been Nigeria's best even though there were still some irregularities.

1. Offering worship for Who He is
2. Thanksgiving ( an attitude of gratitude even helps you let go of grudges)
3. Forgiveness and restitution (where you feel at peace with God and man)
4. Supplication (where you place all requests, plans and opinions and ask Him for wisdom to handle the challenges)

Muskeeto and co who feel that prayer is Nigeria's problem, I beg to disagree. We are not even praying enough or maybe we are asking for the wrong things. Many of the true scientists and leaders were also very prayerful. Abe Lincoln said when I don't know where else to go, I fall on my knees. Ben Carson, the talented neuro-surgeon, was headed in the wrong direction and would have died in street fights but prayer changed the direction of his life. Read his autobiography, Gifted Hands.
I have seen wonderful conversions in my family where a chronic smoker, womanizer and irresponsible young man has been converted to a responsible caring father because he prayed for forgiveness asking God to change his life. And the change remained. More than any new year resolution or any parents' discipline

OP wasn't simply trying to justify the actions of the people rejoicing by claiming that Christians do the same thing, he was stating that Islam does not encourage rejoicing at misfortune of others and he posted quotes that contained people of other faith rejoicing at the death of Muslims.
He didn't say these people were right either, he just wanted to point out that anyone can do something like that and when they do these things, it doesn't mean that their religion supports their actions.

Reminds me of another robbery that had gone wrong. Or rather right for the family that was being robbed. There was power outage and the robbers didn't know the layout of the house. 4. Late Yaradua was considered a saint. He left billions in govt coffers but his state had 75% poverty rate. Shouldn't he have spent the money improving the lives of his people instead of keeping it and keeping them poor?

One is a legalized union with documents that protect the woman and her children. The other doesn't enjoy such customary or legal recognition.
In some cultures,notably among the Igbos, children born out of wedlock are not recognized or accepted into their father's family if their mother wasn't traditionally married by the man. They regard such children as wild cats born by an irresponsible and greedy woman who didn't have decorum to be married to the man before making babies. It is even worse if the man has his legal family and children.
Among the Yorubas, they are more lenient. Children,no matter their mother's status as wife or mistress are accepted and recognized.
