@ samfigo1.... My own concern is travelling from SW to Kaduna in this period where there is massive insecurity along our roads. If she's from Kogi why do u have to go to Kaduna.

All these people planning your wedding on your behalf without making any contribution. If anything happens along the road will they be there for you.

For me o, any man planning any form of reception in this time of Buhari pro max is either having a monthly income of about 500k or the person is not "sensible".

My friend, carry your wife go and do your court marriage then invite both families only for engagement and reception. This can be done even at home or inside Una compound.

Her parents are based in Kaduna

Be diplomatic.

If they don't want to assist with expenses, do it anyhow in the capacity you can afford
If you budgeted 300k for food. Reduce it to 200k and carry the 100k to fix another cost

It's not wise to start on the wrong foot with your in-laws. It will directly strain your marriage

In things like this, one party must play the fool cos peace is very critical in arrangements like this and for the sake of future relationships

Thank you for this.
I have been trying to be peaceful but the burden is much on me.
My both parents are even pensioners, the much heavier part of the load is on me.

You won't be the first or the last person to get scammed by a woman's "I don't want a big wedding." Those utterances always change somewhere along the line.

Your demands are not too much though. Ideally, whoever wants to invite an entire community should be prepared for funding. Your greatest mistake was agreeing to change the plan. When you agree on a small wedding, let it stick. That's what real men do.

I have already paid 50% for the hall. I am in a tight corner as we speak.
Family / My Wedding In Few Weeks Time Is About To Crash, Please Help Me!!! by Samfigo1(m): 7:30pm On Aug 22, 2023
Good day everyone!!!

This is very urgent everyone and I will try to be brief.
My marriage is in few weeks time and there have been troubles here and there. Pls, I will like to know what I am supposed to do. This my babe is from Kogi and we have decided to marry eachother, before we got the relationship got deep we were having marriage talks she gave me the impression that we will not be flamboyant which I was happy about, she even told me her father may not want reception and all.

Everything changed at some point, we started planning for registry, engagement and reception.
This is where the problem began, our plan is to have the court on Thursday, engagement and reception on Saturday.

My family and I are going to cater for court expenses, and also 70% expenses on clothings and shoes for my would be wife is from me. Now they are saying the groom's family will cater for everything during reception, we told them to do the estimate of the feeding alone and it is close to 300k, where the problem started was when we asked how much they are going to contribute inside, they do not plan to contribute inside. They said they will cater for engagement. There is no much thing in the engagement because we are going to use the same facilities for the reception for the engagement, the hall, the chairs, tables and so on.

I told them why do they want us alone to cater for reception? There is no much in the engagement to do. Note, we will be coming from Ondo state to Kaduna state, we do not have much people that will travel that much from our side to Kaduna, we only asked how much they are going to contribute inside that is where the problem started.

I told them if you want it that way, if you want us to cater only for the reception, the hall chairs and tables I have paid 50% of should be completed by them since we are going to use the same hall for the two events. The engagement list, I have not even bought 50% of the whole thing.

Pls, am I acting strange? Is it too much to demand? My union is at stake, pls I need pieces of advice on this

Family / Re: Is My Elder Brother Possessed Or An Occultic Man? by Samfigo1(m): 11:18am On Jan 08, 2022
Dailyparrot:
We have been suspicious of my brother's lifestyle for many years now and recently, his wife is reiterating our suspicion.

We are suspecting my brother of either being possessed, or someone did some juju on him or he belongs to a secret cult based on these two behaviors.

1. He does not like rendering help to his immediate family members but extremely generous outside.

2. He can sleep with anything that has vagina including old, young, fat, slim, beautiful, ugly, single and married women.

My parents gave birth to many children but unfortunately my dad died very early leaving my mother to take care of the responsibilities of the family.

This made my elder brothers to leave home on time to learn trade. Luck smiled on my elder brother and he made money very early. Less than 2 years after he did his freedom, he got his first car and started building his duplex immediately.

Since that time till date, he has only become richer and richer and richer.

We never received any financial assistance from extended family members because their thoughts is that my brother is well to do so we don't need help but the reality is different.

As rich as my brother became, we continued the petty family business that was very stressful until all of us left home to either university or marriage before my mother stopped the business because it is not what she can do alone.

My brother never cared for my mother. That's the one that pains me the most whenever I remember the incident of the past and how my mother died in the local village hospital while my brother was at home drinking and entertaining visitors.

My brother would come home for Christmas and pay 6 months electricity bill for every one in our community while giving my mom 15k. He never wants anything to do with us. For him to give you money, you really need to explain what you need the money for and that doesn't mean you are getting it immediately.

My secondary school classmates thought I came from a very wretched home not knowing that I have a brother that is extremely financially buoyant.

The number of people my brother brought from our village to Lagos to set up are more than 10 that we know. These people ended up bringing their siblings to town and establishing them as well. That is to say that my brother has lifted a lot of families out of poverty but never his family members.

One of my brother was having difficulty in his business and the best that my brother could do was to ask him to park his belongings to go and stay in the village with his wife and children. If not for my intervention that I used 1.9 million to set up a business for him to be repaying me monthly as he sells. This is an amount my brother will never ever give any of us for any reason whatsoever. He would rather gift you 100k to put in your business and go about telling people how he has helped you but you have refused to grow the business. Please, what can 100k really do for a business man?

In fact, I can't type all that we have experienced with my brother who's supposed to be our source of upliftment.

For those that will say I should go and work and entitlement mentality thing, all I typed here happened in the past when we were still dependent. None of us demands money from him anymore as we're all independent financially now.

But recent happenings brought back those memories. My brother and his wife.

We thought that his wife and children would enjoy his money since they are entitled to it but we were wrong.

My brother has several duplexes in my home state and in Lagos yet he lives in a rented two bedroom apartment. In that two bedroom apartment, his children and house boys (boy boy) share the same room and this is not the well developed part of Lagos oo but it's closer to his market.

My brother can afford to buy land in the place that they live and build standard 3 storey building and give his children a good sense of his wealth but he will never do it.

When the wife asks him for money for hair, he will give her 5k. If she sees a hair that she likes that sells for 50k. My brother will bring out calculator and divide 50k by 500 and tell the wife that that money is enough for him to cut his hair for the next 10 years.

The children don't dress well like people whose father is super rich. He got an SUV that the wife drives which made people think that the wife is enjoying but inside that woman in the SUV is an unhappy woman that wishes she can turn back the hands of time so she could marry someone else.

Sadly, the wife can't even complain to us because she took advantage of the way her husband was treating us to treat us badly when she got married to my brother and considering the fact that my brother was the supposed bread winner. Well, we can't be dependent for life.

Now, the cock has come home to roost. She's enjoying the husband "as is".

When you said he wanted to sleep with your sister, did you mean his own sister too?

Eni ba loun fe ma di mi lona ire ayo mi ( He who wants to block my goodness)
Tabi to fe ma gbogun ti'se mi o(Or standing against by profession)
Boya ninu ile ni tabi leyin odi(whether home or abroad)

Hi guys. Please this is urgent.
I am about to register for the GRE exam at this lesson center in Surulere (this is where I’m doing my GRE lesson). It costs 65,000 here for the GRE exam registration but I’ve met 5 other lesson centers that charged me 88k, 96k, 120k, $205, $230 respectively for the same GRE exam registration.
Now I’m a bit confused. Do I go with the one in Surulere? Is that the correct fee? And why do the other lesson centers charge different fees? I asked 2 of them and they said that people charge what they can for the exam registration.

Hey bro, how are you? Have you started the GRE lessons? Can I get some of the things you have been taught so I can use for my preparation? Help a brother who doesn't have money for tutorial pls
Events / "Record Not Found" What Can I Do Please? by Samfigo1(m): 7:51pm On Dec 22, 2020
I have been on this for almost 2weeks now. I wanted to migrate my account from NYSC account to normal savings account. They needed a means of ID, I produced my NIN and some other documents, they input my NIN only to be shown "record not found" note; I registered in 2015.

I went to NIMC office to lodge complaint, I was told to pay for modification fee of #661.25k I have receipt for this and another #800(no receipt for this) it is over a week I did that now and it is still "record not found" I registered the account for some amount of money which my NYSC account can accept.

Please, what can I do, don't let this opportunity pass me o

I doubt most of you nairalander geeks wanna be associated with a farmer's daughter.

If you are wondering how i was able to attend such schools well not only me. There were three of us in private universities at the same time.
The funds came from my dad's largest earthen fish pond. I think he made close to 3m each time he harvests.
Now sire...I only want a man like my father...

Sports / My Experience As A Football Viewer In Kano by Samfigo1(m): 10:43pm On May 20, 2020
This happened in 2018 during my NYSC in Kano.

I was watching an highlight this evening, so I remembered the incident.

I went to watch a UCL match between R. Madrid and B. Munich/Juventus,
I can't really remember who their opponent was, but I vividly remember it was a R. Madrid match.
I think it was only me from the lodge that day, I told 1or2 persons when I got back that night.Majority of Northerners(real "abokis" oo) are R. Madrid fans, we have others o but majorly, they are La liga supporters and R. Madrid comes first!
....So I sat down, luckily for me, the guy seated next to me spoke Yoruba well, so I quickly mingled with him, as the match went on, we started discussing both in Yoruba and pidgin, Unknowingly for me, he understood Hausa well too( I later knew this).

During our discussion, we started picking on players, like, "see this guy, he's too lazy, he should have made a run there", "why did Zidane use this guy?"

I, I mean myself majorly picked on Sergio Ramos We all know Ramos is a dirty player....

I was effortlessly criticising Ramos, then we would laugh over it, suddenly, I heard a disturbing noise of two "abokis" sitting behind me, not directly, they were obviously discussing in Hausa but in a noisy manner, I just looked back, and turned my face.
I wanted to continue, but the guy asked me to calm down, I asked why? He didn't talk again, he just did a sign for me to calm down. When they were done, the guy said they were talking about me. About me ke? What did I do? He said I should not talk about Ramos again, in short he said I should not talk again ‍♂️‍♂️... (This thing is long o, I will finish it on the next slide!

This thing is long o, should I continue?

Yes, you're demanding too such. If you're paying less than N1000 monthly for estimated bill then simply pay, but if your bill is exorbitant you can insist on seeing it first before paying

It's not about the money sef, it's about fairness. I heard that one or two tenants are not paying, I demanded the bill so as to clear the doubt too... where I stay is like barracks. we have 17 rooms
Business / Am I Asking For Too Much? (PHCN Palava) by Samfigo1(m): 11:49am On Jul 11, 2019
Good day everyone, please I have something bothering me and I want to know if I am demanding for too much.

I moved to a one room apartment for 9months and ever since our landlord has been demanding an amount on a monthly basis let's say #500 monthly which is fixed and we use estimated bill and not a prepaid meter.

Note; since I moved into the apartment, I have never seen the bill before, they only come monthly to request the monthly payment for the electricity been used.

Just this last month, I demanded I see the bill but hell no, they've not shown me and I haven't paid for last month. I have told them I won't pay unless I see bill

My questions are; am I demanding too much?
is the estimated bill fixed on a monthly basis or there are always changes in the price on monthly basis??

Thanks in anticipation. I want to fight this out rightly and not wrongly.
