Now I am a yoruba man and I have learnt almost all the Nigerian languages and their individual dialects to even a group as small of just 10,000 people.

I have also travelled to various parts of the country. Now I am telling this to show you that I am not ignorant at all.

I ask, why should you question people from learning your langauge. It is daf.t really !!!

If You traval to france, do you not learn french ?

If you travel to England, do you not learn English ? What makes Yoruba or hausa or Igbo any different ?

You went to Ogun and you are proud to be saying English is the offical langauge like a mor.on. Have you learn the langauge in your enivornment first ? If you get lost, would english langauge or the langauge in your enivornment save your life ?

While on many occasions you've shown yourself to be a genuinely nice guy thats balanced sometimes, you have also exhibited a terrifying obsession with Igbo. Its like Igbo is always lurking in the alley waiting to attack anything good in Yorubaland (I'm not even sure you're Yoruba). Go bact to Nigerian History right from the arrival of the Brits, does anything show we feel inferior in our culture? In fact you need to read what the brits said about Igbo. If anything its the opposite. Brits hated us because we will never succumb to their whimps. Do you know most of my ancestors got themselves drowned in American rivers rather than serve another man? Go read the slave history and tell me who the slave masters sold higher than others.

Time to move on and compete on big stuff like - who's going to be the first in Africa to go to the moon? Who will produce the first 20 set of Nobel prize winners in Chem, Phy, Bio, etc? Who will be the first to eradicate poverty in Africa? Which group in Africa will be the group that'll build that massive hydro elec generating plant in river Congo? A river that has so much potential energy to generate 40% of Africa's power needs - power that'll be crucial in production of fertilizer for poor African farmers and irrigation of dry and dusty farmlands that are been lost to Sahara desert rapid encroachment. Bro thats where I want us to compete ok.

Blame greedy Nnamdi Azikwe and his counsin Ifeajuna for whatever happened in 1966, before the war. The 'pogroms' was one the darkest moments in our history, and i feel sorry for all those who lost their lives - but Igbo civilians should never have taunted other people.

Whatever happened during the civil war falls on the shoulders of Ojukwu. He used the wrong tactical approach to execute the war - and the brave Nigerian army had to use everything they had to subdue. In war, you use ALL MEANS NECESSARY to defeat your enemy, if it refuses to surrender. You guys can't declare Biafra in the East, and start taking other people's homelands in Midwest and West. Ojukwu is to blame for you biafra war woes, and Ndigbos need to look at the man in mirror - and reflect on the cause of their woes in Nigeria.

Igbos leaders have failed Ndigbo, and you guys need to look inwards - and stop blaming the rest of Nigeria - most especially the Yorubas.

At this point I want to say there's no point engaging you in this convo because all I hear is blame the victim, blame the victim. But I wonder why you think it's Fulani leaders and not the various ( levels) of governments that should find a solution to the open grazing problems of the herdsmen? Are we ruled by tribes? What about the legislature and the security apparatus that watches as lives are taken on a minute to minute basis?

nagoma, by law the bolded is true. In a nation of laws the govt will swing into action long before you see this kind of crises becuase they would've done a comprehensive study on the importance and implications of open grazing. In a modern nation no citizen would be made a refugee, paraded naked on the street for illicit sexual act, killed because of his faith, have no running water from cradle to grave, we can go on and on, in fact in a working nation there would be no need for Arewa, Ohaneze, or Afenifere.

The point is - govt has been failing since 1966, right even before the civil war, and based on that our people has been evolving and surviving outside any expectations from the govt. If the govt could not stop the massive loss of lives of the easterners in 1966 what would make me believe they will come to my aid in future. The beginning of wisdom for any Nigerian is when he or she realizes their is no govt to call for help.

In summary, there is no govt in Nigeria hence the call for the Fulani leadership to find a way for the continued existence of their people. Its a shame we have to do that but what other option does the average Fulani cattle owner in the jungle has? Waiting on the govt could mean death for the poor Fulani. If you remember, during the infamous Boko Haram massacre in Kano many Igbo bus owners had to choose life of their people over profit, and graciously sent buses to bring some of their willing brothers home.

Fulani leadership should recalibrate their mode of survival in Nigeria because their niche is dangerously overlapping with other peoples'. I understand its the govt's job to find this much needed balance between overlaps but in situation where the govt has consistently shown a high degree of incapability what do you do? - you're right - Find solution on your own - this is why I call the leadership of Fulani to do something about how their people produce our meat before their people become meat, sad but true.

On the current refugee issue, I do not support sending those poor fellows back to their homeland so quick because they're Fulani, its insane for anybody to suggest that. The govt of CR state can secure the location of those poor refugees until things calm down. As soon as there's assurance that the refugees wont be attacked then CR state can start their relocation back to Benue. I believe more people in the south have probably used political assylum/refugee to gain entrance into other countries than Fulani people. Lets do unto others what....?

Brothers, hate is not the answer. Please put yourself in the shoes of these refugees for a moment before you ask for an ungodly solution to their plight. I understand the reservations people have with this whole refugee thing considering the unending violence that seems to follow Fulani cattle herders but thats enough to debase a fellow human.

Any man can be a refugee - it could happen to you, it happened to the Jews in 1939-45 so dont think you're immuned to it. What worries me more is that whatever caused this crisses will not be looked at - we will move on like nothing happened until it happens again. I know most people in the South, including me, dont have much sympathy for core north, but at times like this we need to step back and understand we're talking about human life. Sending those refugees back in a hurry could result in massive loss of lives. I expect the Gov of C/R state to gradually relocate them back to their states when their safety is assured.

Now, lets dig deeper into the problem. What and/or who caused the refugee situation? Is it political, religious, ethnic, or is it diminishing resource? Who is most affected? what is been done by Govt and Fulani leaders to arrest/forestall future crisses?

You know, there may never be a straight answer to the above questions because the truth is probably somewhere b/w religion, politics, ethicity, and poverty. Considering Nigerian Govt's ignoble track record in saving her citizens, I would expect the leadership of Hausa-Fulani to save their people. Expecting the Govt to do her duties in Nigeria is a waste of time. Nigeria will not provide ranches for cattles and as long cattles are grazing in the open field/farms, Fulanis may be the newest endangered species.

Its time for Fulanis to recalibrate their mode of survival to avoid this impending catastrophe. Nigerian people are fighting over leftover resources and this is affecting how we the next person or group - we see them as enemy. While we're free by law to move as we deem fit, in practice its different and I expect Fulani leadership to understand that and save their people. Grazing in the open field in Nigeria is a recipe for disaster. Lets find a working solution rather than hate, kill, and maim.

My brother, GEJ represents something that is way beyond some regions in Nigeria to comprehend and any attempt to topple him will give momentum to the centrigual forces in Nigeria.

Nigeria has been on its knees for ages and its going to take a huge amount of time to pull it out of the woods. GEJ may not be the best man for the job just as OBJ, Shagari, IBB, Buhari, Abacha, etc but in today's Nigeria it'll be unthinkable to boot him out by force.

I hope people realize how divided this country is before they try anything good or bad. We all saw how MEND almost crippled oil supply before, what do you think would happen if GEJ is kicked out? Mind you GEJ is not just an Ijaw man, hes a core Easterner and if hes kicked out you can bet the East will leave Nigeria for the second and final time.

Since creation, men have always carved out turfs and territories for themselves and it worked initially because their sources of energy didnt overlap, today it does and we're reaping the results of years of planlessness from leaders who failed to realize the danger embeded in increasing population growth with decreasing energy source.

These clashes will keep occuring in areas inhabited or frequented by the very poor for reasons we all know. While its unarguable to say many Nigerians are poor, its even more factual to say that the poorest of the poors are from Hausa-Fulani ethnic group. So, brothers, is it any wonder why much of these fights always involve Hausa/Fulani? I think the time has come for Govt and leaders of ethnic groups in Nigeria (also rich business men of goodwill from all the ethnic groups) to step in and do something. Leaving the poorest of the poors to kill or be killed on the street is shameful and ungodly, in fact any proud person would never want his ethnic group to be seen in that light.

I, as an Igbo, will feel ashamed and pained if my people were this dirt poor and on the street killing their hosts. I expect people like Dangote and the likes to give some of their people some kind of help, at least he has enough money to open skill acquisition centers for the poor and maginalized. Of what use is money if we cant help people with it? In fact the burden should be heavier if the same poor people are your kits and kins. You claim MEND had a just cause, but since the ransom money started coming in, what became of the cause? The group is currently agitating for an increase in their yearly ransom as we speak. And nowhere on the agenda is rebuilding the lives of the youths in the Niger Delta communities, or even helping rebuild the lives of those they destroyed back when they were on full rampage in the region.

I get that we pretend that the Niger Delta won when MEND got it's amnesty deal, but the true reality is that life for the people in the creeks has not changed at all. Many of the communities destroyed are still struggling to rebuild without the help of Goverment, MEND(the gang that helped in the destruction), or their leaders. The lives of victims remain in shambles as many of them wonder why the criminals that inflicted much pain on their existence are openly celebrated and rewarded while they are to mourn.


MEND is not Niger Delta . . MEND got paid . . . Niger Delta did not. So, I don't see the relevance of your mentioning the above, especially on this thread over and over as if we can equate the one to the other.

MEND and Boko Haram, are simply terrorist groups with selfish causes . . . and individuals willing to massacre to get their share or piece of the pie.

Did we wrong the people of Niger Delta - Yes.
Whether MEND started a just cause and eventually became criminals is a different story, at least we all can agree we did some wrong to the people of that region.

Ok, let me answer that question for you based on what I deduce from your posts. You dont support Boko haram, that I believe. However, the rate at which you have consistently put Boko Haram and Mend on the same tangent line is beyond me. Yes, both MEND and Boko Haram used force of arms to send their messages across, but one had a just cause and mostly targeted oil instalations while the other canvassed for violent imposition of their religous values on adherents of other faiths and even went as far as exterminating innocent people in their holiest days.

We all can agree that Nigerian govt stole from Niger delta with no regard for the people of that region, can we say the same when it comes to Boko Haram?

Boko Haram is a tumor that needs surgical removal.

I think we are past the point where we base our decisions on what makes sense as if we are innocent in this. We allowed this . . . . we created this situation . . . we bedded the terrorists and now new roots have sprouted. If we are going to solve this, it is most possible going to demand we do away with Amnesty in it's entirety or we continue to bend the rules for each and every other gang that springs up.

I'm beginning to think that maybe core north has no shame. Problems that every region solve, the core north sees it and says - NO SOLUTION. Do you know that every region, before colonialism, could be said to be filled with almajiris? In fact core north was ahead of West and East in terms of formal education. The north could write in Arabic as well as did slightly complex algebra that both East and West was unaware of during the pre-colonial era. Basically, We, the southern people, were more almajirized during pre-colonial era but fought our way to an almajiri-free society without seeking for help from the center.

In the south, as soon as the East saw how important western style education was they went to work and before independence they either completely or almost closed the literacy gap the western Nigeria gave them - they did this with no central help. After the punctuation in education due to war in Eastern Nigeria the East went to work again and you can see the result in the number of undergraduates from Imo, Abia, etc. On the wester Nigerian flank - check out Ekiti state and see the weight its pulling even with meager allocation.

The point is - we didnt screw anybody, in fact its more correct to say that core north screwed the rest of us. If the Abachas, Buharis, OBJs(the only southerner amongst them), and Ibbs had allowed us to do something meaninful when our population was much smaller I believe we would've been better off today.

Every man is the architect of his own life just as every region, zone, state, etc are the makers of their path. This almajiri problem is core northern problem, we will only help because of our love for God and man and I expect people from core north to give us that little respect that we deserve and not think that blackmail will unlock the purse of a man from Bayelsa, Osun, Edo, Imo, Benue, etc.

I hope you know there are many ways to solve Boko Haram, one of which is - we can all walk away and leave the core north to solve it on their own. The reason I'm interested in extending hand to Boko Haram is purely from Christian point - not politics so, quit the "Elite" label 'cause it wont fly.

ndu, to be honest I like how you advocate for your people, especially the disadvantaged, I wish you were one of those core northerners in power in those good old days of core north. Anyway, I do not support all your advocay but at least I like how passionate you are on several issues that deal with the disadvantaged core northerners. The only draw-back is that now Nigeria is bigger and wiser therefore, you will have to fight every Tom and Harry to get a penny for your people. We all want some pie from the center and since the center pie is not enough I suggest we all start being creative with whatever we have.

Core Northern problems do not generate much sympathy, I'm sorry to say that, and you know why. Even the East and West do not have much sympathy for eachother let alone core North. You will agree the reason MEND was treated with some respect is because their communities produce most of the resource we waste and finally, their cause was a just one. If we were not getting anything from oil communities we would've let them drown in their problems irrespective of how just their cause was - thats Nigeria for you.

For some of us, its just because of love of God and humanity that will make us extend a hand to Boko Haram or any other core north issues because their region caused almost 99% of their ills. From Maitesine to Sharia to almajiri to Boko Haram, core north seems to be in no hurry to end any kind of missery for all eventhough most of the people that usurped our collective resource and power came from the same region - now you see why most people dont have sympathy for core north.

Core north must brace herself and fight for her soul, they must start swinging at Boko Haram with all their might - and while at it, they must also start fighting those that used much of their "power allocation" in the past.

Very soon every state, LGA, ward, and family will have Boko Haram-type cell. For over 50 years oil producing communities were treated like stateless fools and for that we support the current effort by the Govt to right the wrongs of decades of deprivation. Basically, we owe oil producing communities lots and lots of gratitude, they've sustained this wayward nation for too long.

Now what do we owe Boko Haram? Why do I have to take money from Imo state and give to Boko Haram? At least If I give to MEND I get some back from oil fields in Bayelsa, what do I get back from Boko Haram? The Answer is nothing with a capital N. So, the proponents of amnesty and its attendant oil money to Boko Haram should know that if we ever decide to extend a hand to Boko Haram, its because of love not because they deserve it.
