One particularly unhelpful reaction came from certain Igbo leaders who advised their kinsmen in the wake of the onslaught by Boko Haram to move out of Northern Nigeria and to return to their ancestral homes in the east. Clearly, such advise, apart from playing into the hands of the insurgents, is a wanton infringement of the civic and legal rights of the people. An Igbo, Urhobo, Efamai, Ekwere etc. living in Damaturu, Minna, Zonkwa or Yola are bonafide citizens of these cities as are Kanuri, Tiv, Nupe or Hausafulani living in Port Harcourt, Umuahia, Onitsha or Shagamu. This is a right our Constitution has prescribed; a right no one, not even temporary difficulties, should take away. Besides, certain situations make such ideas utterly anachronistic if not entirely illogical. Over 200 people were reportedly killed and over a thousand others injured with many more displaced when two long feuding communities in Ezillo council area of Ebonyi state clashed towards the end of last year. Where were the survivors advised to re-locate to? No where else.

I guess we're the bad guys now huh? One section of the country consistently butchers and another section consistently leaves and the author wants us to believe that the one that gets up and leaves is the one thats acting irresponsibly, I don't blame him. The same section that got butchered in thousands in 1966 while FG did nothing to intervene and not only failing to intervene, it actually launched a 3 yr bitter war on the butchered section that ended up costing the same section 2-3 million lives.

I think this people think we're fools. You want us to wait yet again for security from FG when the Fg cant even protect itself. Hey mr Author, please save your advise/reprimand we don't need it. Go solve BoKo Haram before telling us to solve our bad leadership, at least as bad as our leadership is, even with its "bad" advise, it still doesn't bomb us and that, my friend, is better than your own leadership that has begotten Boko Haram.

Negro how did you get Biafra into this? Anyway, Ndu furnished me with evidence that supports what SLS did and I can say hes right in legal terms but wrong on both moral and tactical basis. Hes wrong on moral basis because almost half of Nigerian states at one time or the other have experienced some kind of natural or man-made disaster and CBN didnt show up. Besides this Boko haram thing is still on-going so what if Boko decides to up the game by constantly bombing different cities, it means CBN is going to break the bank. I would be happier if SLS donated to keep schools in the north open or even pay the almajiris to go to school, afterall that's where most of the extremism probs are born. Giving money to schools/community development project is in line with CBN statutes but to go into the sphere of the executive/legislative govt is out of line.

Like I said in one of my posts, who gets the money is not the problem but what kind of precedents he's now set is where the devil is. It means whoever gets there next be ready to financially reach out to his people. I noticed some people are trying to make the issue an Igbo issue because the money was not given to us. Guess what? We've been surviving and moving on with the least allocation in this nation yet we haven't bombed anybody, therefore I doubt we'll begin now because of 100m.

Also on tactical basis, he should have at least given some of the money to Jos, Madalla, Yobe, NYSC coppers, etc to give it a more patriotic/national look but he chose to give to his homeland first and thats where he failed. Its our collective wealth and I expect whoever is in charge to pretend like others belong too eventhough we know its false. Mask your special preference for your people and act like you love and care for everyone - that's the key and that's the tactic he lacks. If he had spread some money on other places that have experienced some kind of mayhem and then give the chunk to Kano we would not be here.

In one of my responses to Ndu I wrote that recently SLS tied 13 derivation to Boko Haram, something every decent man in Lower Nigeria was shocked to hear - in essence hes saying that the bombing will not stop unless we revert to old derivation. Also in the past hes had something to say about different ethnic groups in Nigeria and most of us have remained calm because what we want is good job at CBN and as long as hes doing it we don't mind his utterances that much. Now its beginning to look like we need to focus more on this guy.

Concerning the list of things you said CBN does, I'm a little busy now but as soon as i'm free I'll definitely look it up. I want to see how much they've spent on education and other things. I used word "unprecedented" because my eyes have never seen where a CBN gov gave such a huge amount of money to any people or organization. The first time I saw it I thought it was his personal money that he gave out. I would sheath my sword if I find out that CBN in the past was giving out money to organizations.

Anyway, if its true that CBN has laws that allow it disburse funds as it deems fit then we are in a bigger mess than I thought. It means every aspect of our government is a sink hole.

Sanusi does not know how to do his job in the quietness of his office. He enjoys going into verbal or written trench war with people, he enjoys poking the boundaries of religious and ethnic relations, and he has a big mouth that is ever ready to say something about other people. Dismantling the coutry is what the CAN leader Pastor sees as his most important assignment obviously for resource control, or resource denial to those citizens who live very far from where the resource was discovered. Nagoma your post touched my heart in a very deep way, unfortunately we are way too deep in this mess that its almost impossible to keep all of us as one in Nigeria. There is no point in lying to ourselves, we are way too polarized to continue. Some of us carry so much burden and hurt that the only thing that can even come close to assuaging it is regionalism and total resource control, even at that we will still drift apart and eventually break up.

We fought a bitter civil war in this country that saw a section lose almost everything including millions of their people, sometimes in very horrible circumstances that had nothing to do with battle line between FG troops and Biafran Expeditionary Force. Those things were real and after the war you'll agree with me that Nigeria derived so much joy from humiliating us. After the war our people were not treated with vision 2012, no one thought Nigeria would get here today in this shape with past memories very much alive. Had FG thought twice it would've not allowed abandon property, 20 pounds, and systematic purge of Biafrans from civil service/police/army. If people say Biafrans should be purged from sensitive positions or have their properties and investments taken from them then the argument for the war is defeated, after all FG went to war because it believed it was bringing back Nigerians into the fold.

I don't want to dwell in the war era, however my point is to show how we have drifted apart because of short sightedness and to come back now as we used to be or tried to be is just a waste of time. As Igbo I have no single hate anywhere in me for North or Hausa-Fulani but at the same time I feel it with everything in me that my people need their space to either fail or succeed. Of course Boko Haram has made things worse because it now validates people's (southern people) belief that living with core north is not worth the pain.

I wish things were different but my wish is over 50 yrs late so I'm shoving it. A nation has to have one national/international interest but its not the same for Nigeria. In Nigeria there is a physical as well as mind competition for domination by each ethnic group, also there is another competition for domination which has religious coloration and all of this is within one nation! We are really sick of eachother and to continue as one nation is akin to telling our fellow human being to continue in a toxic relationship that was arraigned to begin with.

When the future is magnanimous enough to show us an outcome with high probability of occurence then we'll be damned if we fail to latch into it. This "look" will end up taking another 50 yrs of our national life because the same people that look for them end up releasing them, makes me want to throw up!

How many laws do we have in this country? which section and people obey which one? Nigerian lives have become worthless because those that take it know they can do it with reckless abandon and nothing will happen. At best they give us their 3 weeks in detention afterwhich they go home to their families with free oil money. Is this the story of our country? Its good that we got Kabiru but in all honesty what do you think Nigeria can do to him? Nothing! If Kabiru belongs to the "sacred blood" in the north the highest pound of flesh we can extract from him is 8 yrs of another Mustapha-type prosecution. Like I said earlier, do you think Nigeria will kill Al Mustapha? think again.

My brother we all have a part to play. Do you know that anti-semitism started in Europe hundreds of years before the Nazis and it Europeans never considered it harmful or dangerous. They fed it, they gave it life, and then in 1939 a mad man came and decided to walk the walk. Go back to history and read up on all the societies that have experience pogrom or genocide you would see a shocking similarity with happened/happening in Nigeria. Yes, the world has changed but its still the same mind and body that men have used to wreck havoc that we all still have. Yoruba and Igbo must desist from this ignoble path, it has no profit other than doom for us. If you must know I have resisted the temptation of scapegoating any ethnic group no matter what, I would rather call for separation from say core north than call them names and stoke hate against them.

We all need to be a little more civil and careful because when you see what happened in Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia etc then you know we are dangerously playing with our lives. I'm all for separation but at the moment we're still in Nigeria and for that reason we need to dial down the hate whether its real or imaginary. Two different nations like Ghana and Nigeria can engage in physical or online bashing, as mush as its bad also, the mere fact that they are separated by national borders makes it only "gra gra," with no possibility of war. Igbo and Yoruba do not have that luxury, we are together in this hot mess and to add this back and forth hate and bickering into our already combustible mixture is to ask for doom.

If you're reading this and you still enjoy the hate between our peoples on NL pls you need to rethink. Isnt it better for us to work to separate from eachother than smoke ourselves?

Let me address your post above by saying I'm not sure I like to stay in the middle, I would say I like to get involved in a much more civil and mature way. I'm Igbo, a very real one at that so if any hostilities break out today I would quickly moving in to make sure my people don't get massacred or defeated and I'm sure that's what you would do if you were in my shoes.

However, what I would not do is to go about insulting or hating on your own people because I love mine. If I truly love my people I would try my best not to bring carnage to them, I would make friends for them, negotiate for them, take insults because of them, take beatings from you or anyother person because of them. So, I'm not in the middle, I'm with my people and there is no shame in that just as you are with yours and you're loving it. I believe since you love yours, hopefully you respect mine, and I love mine (you know I respect yours) we can help in separating them a little. We can do this by calling out any NLder from our respective groups that enjoys ethnic bashing. Its not going to be the silver bullet but it sure will make a little difference. For a start you can start by writing Igbo in capital [I], need I tell you that I always write Yoruba in capital [Y]? I do so because respect, they say, is reciprocal.

You can't want peace in your village and at the same time, be wishing that there be division somewhere else.

Buddy, Islam in general is not really the problem, I guess I didnt explain myself better initially so let me try again. When it comes to religion I believe south west is already at equilibrium, its almost like 50-50 coupled with the fact that they are one ethnic group, so they'll be fine religion-wise. However, bringing in a different group that is predominantly christian, after going thru "Nigerian Experience" may not be an easy political decision on both sides. Another Nigeria is going to be one too many. While it may be too easy to grab this one and that one so as to look big and viable, the truth is - its always better to be a nation of 100 with one goal than to be big with multiple directions. Our current Nigerian experience is always going to be a factor in determining new allies. Like I said earlier, I would rather have one village republic with peace than have a new Nigeria with Mend, Opc, Massob, Egbesu, Akwat Diop, Boko Haram, Mossop, and every other "op" and "haram" out there. I would rather go for small and beautiful than big and hot mess.

Igbo is not Edo just as Edo is not Yoruba. Every Nigerian nation 'll have to make a life changing decision when that final buzzer sounds. It'll be a great day for sure.

Edo was and still is a great kingdom and where ever they choose to be when that buzzer sounds, I believe, they would be greatly respected. When I think of a disintegrated Nigeria I see Igboland in some form of union with other Eastern peoples including Anioma from the old Mid West. However, alliances change all the time so you never know if Edo, given their christian faith, would want to strike a deal with the Easterners. They may not want to get involved with Odua thats already divided in middle between muslims and Christians - its just me thinking out loud so dont get all defensive guys.

At any rate, I dont want a mini Nigeria in the East, we've had that already. Going back to the topic, I dont care where any group goes to. In fact all the states in Igboland can go to Arewa if they so desire provided they leave out my village for me to form my ideal Biafra or whatever name that satisfies my fantasy. The main thing is peace, guys peace is the key coupled with hardwork - I dont want to be in a nation with lazy bums who know nothing other than beg beg beg.

I wish every region luck eventhough most of you guys would drink Heineken and/or pop champaigne anytime you hear bad news from Igboland. And for Edo peeps I would suggest, eventhough you guys already know, that eventually that final buzzer would go off and the future of your children 'll be on the line - it'll be decision time and you'll have a small window to get it right.
