It's funny people assume it is only grid that damages appliances, even in solar it has its own perils , lightning strikes for instance can take out your appliances. So you have to protect from both ways . Even generator that is not regulated properly causes damages . |
Oshomo12:The gen part has substantied what iyegeal said. In bad weather it is not bad to use grid, this is an alternative energy source just like the gen . So in theory the only way to beat bad weather is a big battery bank and adequately big panel generation. |
islamics:Well great charge it very well, with utility , we are in rainy season. It should pick , so far it is not a gel battery, |
islamics:This battery how much did you buy it and when?.is it between 70-90k. |
islamics:What type of lead acid agm, gel or flooded do you have. |
HeadofNairaland:Very true, the moment a client gets the quotation from the installers and does his research he is immediately put off, by the price descrepancy... |
Trippledots:Would I appreciate the link to the video.. |
Valto:Yes transformerless inverter can carry resistive/ inductive load but this is subjective. A transformer based inverter low frequency will always handle surges better than transformerless. If you are fully off-grid no Nepa , put on eg pumping machine, microwave, air conditioning the same time the transformer handles surges better. Besides studies have shown transformer based inverter give out the more pure sine wave than transformerless. It cost more. Transformerless cost less , with high frequency has their technology improves and become more efficient. Their battery consumption in idile is top notch. Anybody that has come across the two, will tell you the transformer based inverter the bigger the kva get ready for idile battery leaching. But transformerless is minimal battery leaching. And it cost less. |
odimbannamdi:You don't place stabilizer after the inverter, it will see the stabilizer has a load, the best scenario get a general stabilizer for the whole house . Plug to the mains before the inverter. You are protecting your house hold electronics including your inverter from Nepa wahala. |
Truth like what fire the sun said, In solar always think big and ahead. You are going to expand definitely. Buy gadjets that give room for expansion. Solar side genearation should be large or have room for expansion. (Mppt). Battery big enough to weather this present raining season.during rain solar generation can tank. But with adequate battery you are ok. Inverter also this depends on how big your battery bank and solar array is... If you have a big solar array /battery bank/large inverter watch the sky open. Thanks to everyone in house , the upgrade went well. The only device in my house I couldn't power was my air conditioner. I expanded my solar array from 2 to 3 arrays, Being that it has been discussed on the this thread how inverter ac were not meeting up to expectations not cooling well. I looked at the cost of changing my normal ac to inverter ac. O boy I shook. I changed route more solar panels and a bigger inverter. I can confidently say as of 10am in the morning my 1.5hp normal ac as been pumping, with other loads and water heater simultaneously. The sky is just opening. Will prowse YouTube, will always say let's add more panels, whether on the roof or on the bare ground that guy will place panels everywhere.and it is true the more you generate the more self sufficient you become. |
dollarnaira:Thanks tried no connection, it will say connecting then disconnect... |
dollarnaira:Thanks will give it a try finally. |
MJ01:If you not going hybrid, Charge controller.all mppt, Fangpuson. Epever. Less in cost power Mr. Inverter, Must inverter. Luminous inverter. Make hybrid people add. You also ask what makes 12v different from 24v, that is you system or battery bank. When starting decide what your battery bank will be first. 24v is better than 12v , so also 48v is more reliable than 24v. From there you can get your inverter or charge controller according to your battery bank. |
dollarnaira:Sorry for the delay , this mine.
|
dollarnaira:My bro, pls expansate more on the cast, I have one never used it. |
NijaDueprocess:Sorry to say this sounds like you lawyer and tenant are using your head. Change your lawyer. |
Thanks for the wonderful post being made to save this thread, if you might have noticed another solar thread on nairalabd is practically a sales thread no more contribution from other solar enthusiast anymore. This thread seems to be the very last, with volumes of knowledge. I learnt a lot and still learning. Let us try and keep the flag up. |

This your post is very biased, there is no dispute that lithium is the new baby in town, but don't disuade people from options they have. First your statement above 800w solar system you want to push 50amps how ?.. All you described above is under panel size and you know it. Lithium is great, but every one keeps saying the same thing. Pls be balanced. The only disadvantage of lithium which no one likes saying especially we wey dey naija na price.... Now someone will quote and say you can discharge lithium to 80%, you cant try that with lead, so it is cheaper. Why will I want to discharge batteries every time to this DOD, my battery bank is not adequate. Someone will say lithium loves to be discharged, everyone on this forum that have started their solar journey has an inbuilt fear of DOD. You should na money be batteries. Cycle life in batteries for both lithium or lead is what determines how long your batteries go stay. It is comfort everyone dey find. The best scenario either lithium or lead is to have a big enough and adequate bank size and have a reasonable amount of solar panels to charge it. You mentioned you will be struggling to charge your batteries on a rainy day so you switch off for it to charge... Haha.! You know. Both batteries and panels should be expanded to accommodate this. Both lead acid and lithium are okay, they have their disadvantages and advantages, Lithium is the future. Lead acid is ok Team tubular, |
primefaith1:Bro that is story, alaba union is joke. If you buy a product from a major dealer and it is faulty the union will throw you back and forth and no replacement. Arena is better. |
vickzie:Depends on the type of panels if going the toks way, 300 watt poly panel may go for 40-45k. While a new one bw 58-75k depends on the brand. Personal I have found out it's easier to detect a true 300watt poly from a 300 watt mono you can't cheat poly in size. If you are going toks way stick with poly, mono toks and new because of their small frame alaba boys can print anything on mono. My personal opinion. Alaba don show mee .. |
sensisosu:My brother with the current economic situation in the country going the route of toks panels is not bad. Make sure you test them properly before buying. My last upgrade in December was purely toks panels, the sky seems to have opened up. |
ceaser:He means the lowest you can get. I changed my heating element in my heater from 1500 watts to 1000watts. |
RichMelanin:No you are the daft one, you head is so full of geography of world, you calling Asia. You over hyped DStv watching CNN, aljasera middle east, European analyst. Your brain is so superior to we western brainwashed minons. You are the most advanced human form on nairaland. Clap for your self . Tell me what is your take on Kaduna bombing in your backyard? Let me guess it does not concern you. You brain waves only decipher Putin's fart . . Retard . |
RichMelanin:How through which border, the same the closed. You assume a single country can a exist without it's neighbors. Isolation is what is going to kill Russia |
Realists:And why would us do that, so that they would look stupid like Russia is now. I don't think so, Russia played itself. To the entire world they are they are the bad guys. It is only shame, that is stopping them from withdrawing their troops. Don't joke with Europe they solve their problems inhouse. |
Investigative:This is why I ask Africans , that have become experts in European affairs but fail when it comes to problems in your backyard. This war is taking place in Europe and Europeans have a say whether england or Italy. Experts interpreting for Russia and america. Let us ask have you interpreted the killings going on in Nigeria or the wars in other African countries. No there are black people here so it is not important, na oyingbo own you wan form PhD on top. Pls let us hear word . |
GooseBump:Yes there is, they are currently fighting off invaders in their country. This is not play station. |
Peace081:Wrong you started it at least mentioned it. |
