No fewer than four persons have been reportedly killed, following a renewed cult war between rival groups in Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, the Administrative Headquarters of Etsako West Local Area of Edo…
It was gathered that the victims were killed in different locations during a violent clash between the and Supreme Vikings confraternities.
It was learnt that the incident that led to cult killings occurred on Saturday, June 24 when a National Youth Service Corpse member alleged to be a member of the confraternity was shot by the rival Supreme Vikings Confraternity.
The alleged NYSC member according to sources was later rushed to the hospital for treatment and had since been discharged.
It was scooped further that in a reprisal attack, a member of Vickings group was reportedly killed around Mr. Biggs in Jattu, Auchi
While three other victims were shot dead around Mechanic Site, Vacchi and Winners Road, all in Auchi.
However, there was a report on Friday morning alleging some lecturers of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi to have abandoned invigilation of SPAT Examinations over their alleged involvement in cultism.
But in a quick response, the Assistant Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the institution, Mrs. Adebola Ogunboyowa, debunked the allegations, maintaining that the school ended its SPAT examinations on Friday as students are expected to vocate hall of residence on Saturday.
She said: “The allegation is not true. But in the first place, whatever is happening, maybe the issue of cult clashes, nothing happened in the polytechnic community.
“As I speak to you right now (to our Correspendent yesterday), I am in school and nothing is happening within the polytechnic community.

I met this girl in an exam hall, we were both writing exams, so we did the student things, she asked me a maths question which she was kind of afraid of and me being a maths person answered her question and moved on with with my exams. After the exams she search for me to say her gratitude and we moved on. I think after the results was released and she got an A in the exams was when she had to find me and got me on Facebook. damilola4162: Unknown gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have reportedly killed an official of the Electoral Commission (INEC), Emmanuel Igwe and Ajah Okafor, father of Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth wing chieftain, Damian Okafor.
The unfortunate incident occured in Ishiagu community in Ivo Local government area of Ebonyi State on Sunday evening, June 18, 2023.
Igwe's wife was also abducted by the gunmen who intercepted their car along the Ishiagu-Mpu road.
Damian, who confirmed the killing of his father to The Nation on Monday, June 19, alleged that the attackers were herdsmen who have been terrorising the area.
He said the gunmen, after attacking the couple, took the woman into the bush.
“In their bid to escape, they ran into my father who was in his farm tending to his crops. They proceeded to kill my father so that he will not raise alarm and expose their presence in the area,” he said.
Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Ebonyi State also confirmed the death and kidnap of the INEC staff and wife.
"One of our colleagues, an Assistant Electoral Officer in Afikpo North LGA, Emmanuel Igwe, was shot to death by gunmen in Ivo on his way back from Abia State and his wife kidnapped,” she said.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Ebonyi Police Command, Onome Onvwakpoyeya, said gunmen suspected to be herdsmen shot the man on the head through the windshield of his car.
She said the gunmen used a knife to slice the throat of the second victim in his farm.
