If you in a city that has flixbus route, you can get a ticket to London (as low as 3.99) pickup and return same day. Done that before. was better than the cost of royal mail.

For those that have I applied for provisional driver license, I need some information around the documents to be submitted. I filled the form online and I paid £34. After 2 weeks I received the form from DVLA to complete and send back along with the original proof of identification.
I am getting confused as they mandate it to send either original brp or NIN. i want to hear from guys who have applied before. I don't want to take a risk with original Brp as they make it know if the documents lost on transit they will liable for such.

Send your brp(or international passport), you will get it back.

I would like to make a clarification on council tax payment.

I stay in an apartment with a student. The student name is on the house agreement with mine.

I understand a student is exempted from paying Council tax but we received the Council tax bill few days ago.

How should we go about it.

Have you applied for council tax exemption? for some council even after you applied for exemption you will still receive council bill as it might take a while for them to process it. Eventually you will get a letter telling you that you have been exempted and imploring you to inform them 21 days before your circumstances changes.

customer service is a good start, if you live in the big cities it quite easy to get into the banks customer service roles, hsbc(first direct), satander, barclays etc. Just know how to answer question using the STAR format. when you are in, you have access to loads and loads of internal job roles from within, However if you keep at it, you will be able to bag a front role in no time.

The instruction behind the form shows you dont need to fill out that part. I just submitted with BRP and international passport.

you can send only passport and generate immigration share code and fill in the share code(there is a provision for that). So you might not need to send your brp if your share code is still active as at the time they are processing it.

Please be careful, do not allow yourself to be scammed due to desperation. There are a lot of south Asian people who can build a site and use links like the ones that sent you to scam you. Your screenshot is annotated with non-British English writings. Which is a red flag.

Thanks for your input, well noted and understandable. The sponsorship is for the recent Care Worker visa, what is bothering me is that the UK government changes rules and regulations. Just few months ago, care workers couldn't be sponsored and it wasn't on the shortage occupation list, what if at the time of renewal, care workers couldn't be sponsored anymore or the regulation at the time doesn't make it easy to get sponsorship. That's all I am worried about and again care work is still an unskilled job. If it were to be the likes of the Nurses and other healthcare professional jobs, maybe I wouldn't be worried.

a way around it would be to skill up to a senior carer in that period or if possibly a nurse. That would make you skilled, and make you increase your profile.

I got 60% approval rate for Lloyds credit card on moneysavingexpert.com, but at the end, I was told I didn't qualify for the card.

What if someone is able to secure a job that is paying like £26,000-30,000/annum. Do you still need the sponsorship? I read somewhere that even if you don't have a sponsor, so far you're sending certain amount, you qualify for renewal.

There is supposedly a new visa class coming up this spring, The Scale up Visa, where you just need to earn up to £33,000 while working in an organisation that qualifies as a scale up company(a company with revenue or employee growth of at least 20% over last 3 years). It is an unsponsored route i.e you don't require sponsorship from the company just like the global talent visa and of course it counts towards ILR.

Your child needs to resume school ASAP before the school reports your family to social services. Last thing you want is the police at your door "conducting a welfare check" on your child and social services extending their magnifying glass in your family's affairs.

If you need financial support or assistance with transport costs, speak to the school and/or the council. That said, lack of finances to transport a child to school is not an acceptable legal reason to keep a young child away from school.

Some schools have waiting list of over 2 years and there's no guarantee your child will be offered a place till he/she starts secondary school. Are you saying your child will not attend school if this scenario plays out?

Refusing to take your child to the school that has offered you a place will not force the nearer school to grant your child preferential treatment and allow he/she skip the waiting list.

The thing is there happen to be a school next to the year 2 kids school, they have spaces but require we send include them on the list of schools with the council as we didn't do this before. Omo, the thing is too complex jare, will have the kid start school on Monday..while we appeal with the council/school for the year 2 school. Transport cost not an issue at all, its the fact that both schools close at the same time, leaving one child to have to wait for a while before pickup, most times its just one parent available for school runs. Good evening Ancestors on this street. I need your guidance here. We just relocated to Coventry from Naija and in the process of finding school for the kids. We wrote to the council and they scheduled a zoom meeting with us where they interviewed us alongside the kids. (6 and they told us that the nearest school of our choice has vacancy for the 6 year old in grade 2 while they do not have vacancy for the other kid who should be in grade 4. They said the option we have is to accept the nearest school for the grade 2 and the other farther school for the other one while we apeal to the council to see if they can reconsider and place both in same school

That is one. The next is that if they eventually place them and we want them fed, we would have to pay to the school for feeding. That one confuse me. I thought public schools in UK feed their pupils. Abi Coventry own dey different. How do I handle this feeding own.

@mex551 How were you able to resolve this? did you appeal to the council? Or did you wait it out. I happen to be in a similar situation, the nearest school, has a place for year 2, the kid has started, the year 4 school is further away, he has not started because we are awaiting an offer from a closer school that has space. However the further away year 4 schools keeps calling that he should resume as its illegal for him to be out of school after being offered a place.

It’s alright. I am dependant while husby is a student. There are loads of menial jobs (security, bar, care) but I am struggling to find professional job (lab tech jobs).

@dhummystecah what I will say is keep searching for professional roles as much as possible despite rejections, one will click eventually. My spouse came in late december as my dependant( I am the student). She came with lots of experience across different areas it was hard settling for what role she should focus on. We eventually settled on senior business analyst roles (SBA) roles and started applying immediately. She got loads and loads of rejection that she started to get discouraged and question her competence. But I kept urging her own. She wanted to settle for entry level/customer care roles but I insisted on continuation on the path. My people getting that first role for here no easy sha. She got the final stage at 2 of the big 4 and they didnt take her..Several other places, same story... she cry tire. The testimonial posted by @mdeeokoye sometime in mid January was an encouragement. After am million and one rejections, she just accepted a role at a fortune 500 company. On top this waka one has to develop a thick skin and be resilient. E no easy but God go help person
