A few days ago,I got a call, a marketing call, dude sounded nice until he announced his product. . ..funeral plans!.....not life insurance ooo....funeral plans, For me and missus.........�......... I immediately remembered the conversation here on funerals, flying corpses back to Nigeria and cremation cost. I said missus has her life to live and her decisions to make.
I was in between shock and curiousness so I tagged along answering my preference would be cremation while laughing. Then he passed me on to a colleague for quotation! Colleague started marketing product like who was marketing Tura soap to sisi Allen Avenue. I said, wooolup! Hold it there! Guy continued pitching. I said I wasn't interested in the Convo again,he didnt stop oo, kept on talking, i politely said i wasn't interested at the moment. Next he said was.......''Best to Lock in the deal now because it would be more expensive when you are ready''! I dropped the call at once ���.........fillage pipo may summon me for even entertaining such discussion

Working as a carer, support workers, under SOC code 6145 in the uk, the company sponsoring you will give you an in house training for 4 days and also some practicals before you start work. So why all these level 3 care certificate and so on?
You can enter uk today with authorization to work and start care job with the next 2 weeks.

Level 3 - makes you qualify for senior carer which is more money than HCA..from February 15th Companies would be able to sponsor carer assistants from out of the country, having level 3 makes one stand out more as it is envisaged that there might be a lot of competition for these roles. If one is already in country, I believe it might be easier to get sponsorship compared to out of the country.

Sent out numerous CV for care worker/assistant role.

Got couples of calls, but they keep asking for at least 1 month UK experience. Some even ask if am moniker and have driving license.

Need guys with experience to tell me how to go about this asap.

Need to start making some money ASAP.

Aside from the care home jobs, I need recommendation of a credible security training outfit that I can take up their course for SIA License.

Also apply customer service advisor roles too..there are some that are work from home, a few are flexible to 20 hours. (Lloyds and first direct are actively recruiting though full time, sky has some part time CS roles)

@Amazoner01..Register to vote, get a sim only contract from a phone company. Also you can get a purchase credit card(those low or zero interest credit card), use it for your purchases, be disciplined enough refund purchases. Monesavingexpert is a good resource for personal finance literacy. Also I learnt setting up direct debit for bills is another good way.

A friend just told me something that I have not been able to confirm officially anywhere and i would appreciate clarity. While I am well aware that your family must be in UK to be eligible to apply for the post study visa route, He said that they must be residing in the UK not less than 6 MONTHS to the planned date of application and sent some youtube videos to back it up.

I haven't seen anything like that in the government sites concerning durations and so I decided to bring it here for more information. How long is officially required as stay period before application?

Dependant just need to be in anytime before main applicant apply for PSW..can be 24hrs. You can confirm this info from your school immigration department.

Thanks for your reply. So I took pcr test today and got a positive result. Absolutely devastated as my flight is tomorrow ! I do not have any symptoms and also wondering where/when I might have caught it. The question now is what can I do ? Uk government just announced self isolation can be cut to 7 days if I have a negative lft and no symptoms on the 7th day but I have been told that it is possible (likely even) to keep getting pcr positive up to 4 months after infection. Does the Nigerian government/air carriers recognise people that have recovered from covid but are pcr positive ?

@dizzynet Had a friend that had a positive result, did another test (this time went to medbury, their result come out just before midnight sameday of test) and it came out negative, this was back in January...I will suggest you open your ticket and take another test.

Secretary Blinken, in consultation with the Department of Homeland Security, has temporarily expanded the ability of consular officers to waive the in-person interview requirement for individuals applying for a nonimmigrant visa in the same classification. Previously, only those applicants whose nonimmigrant visa expired within 24 months were eligible for an interview waiver. The Secretary has temporarily extended the expiration period to 48 months. This policy is in effect until December 31, 2021. This change will allow consular officers to continue processing certain nonimmigrant visa applications while limiting the number of applicants who must appear at a consular section, thereby reducing the risk of COVID-19 transmission to other applicants and consular staff. Travelers are encouraged to review the website of the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate for detailed information on what services are currently available as well as eligibility information and instructions on applying for a visa without an interview.

KLM got this weird habit of marketing tickets with weird times........

KLM is a bit confusing with regards to transit visa requirement with Nigerian passport. I got a KLM ticket from the uk to Nigeria, seeked opinion here with regards to transit visa was told I do not need it. Also called KLM and was told same thing. However the day of the trip, the person at the counter said I needed to a transit visa, I had to ask for her supervisor even he had to call schipol before I was allowed on the flight. On the return trip back to uk at LOS i had to how my ticket from the uk to be allowed on board. Some guy was not allowed on the flight because he didnt have a transit visa( dont know how it was resolved eventually). My point is, the wahala of verification can be plenty, know this and know peace.

@simran94 Try lemonade finance..heard about the app here, downloaded from Google play. Used it to transfer last week, had a bit of a snag, sent them a DM on twitter and the issue was resolve. Money got to my naija account within 3 mins

Since covid this brp thing unfortunately is a waiting game(same can be said of NI)..you need to wear the suit of patience, some people are lucky they get theirs fast.

I believe it has to do with how she would receiving funds.. I really dont know. The way I am wired, if the rule says don't do this, and I plan to be here for the long term, I avoid that thing like a plague, to avoid stories that touch in the future

Background information:
I'm applying for Masters in Public Health in the UK. I will be moving with hubby and three kids. I work as a freelancer on Upwork with at least $500 monthly. I'm positive that being outside the shores of this country will help me earn more online since clients prefer people in Europe. I will work offline while I study too.
He will apply for study visa too after I'm done with my one year plus two years psw and we can pursue our residency.
My Dilema:
Hubby is skeptical about moving with everyone since we will be selling off our properties to make this move.
He's suggesting that we take the Canada route but the processing is a big headache for me. I'm opting for UK because of the ease of gaining admission and processing.
I will like to know if moving with three kids and selling off our assets is a good move or not. Thanks for your anticipated responses.

With questions like this, personal experiences differ so expect contrasting opinions. With the Uk you are almost guaranteed visa but its quite an expensive route with 3 kids. for IHS+Visa fee you will pay roughly $650 x 5, when you are applying for post study you will pay GBP1,900 x 5(you hubby and 3 kids). Just trying to put it in perspective for you. Also am not sure as a student you can legally continue your freelance work . I know student visa are meant to stay away from gig economy jobs. You might want to research that further. After a masters in canada you have 3 years post study as against 2 years in the uk, you are eligible for EE and if you school is in one of the provinces that offer PNP, you might qualify for PNP(you might want to make it your criteria for choice of school).
