Meaning by November, i would have stayed outside UK for over 6 months. Hope i will not be troubled when going back or any other implication.

Just make sure you are in the UK by the time your spouse is applying for PSW. And stay till she gets it.staying over 6 months doesn't matter.

I am trying to apply for my dependants and when I check IHS for my kids age 9 and 8. see that IHs payment is GBP 0.00 (as shown below) but for my spouse its GBP 705. Please there something am doing wrong or do kids not pay IHS?

..two people I know booked on the 3rd and one person yesterday at same ikeja. They would ask why you want a recent date though.so with your admission letter showing September resumption. And go early before 8am

Guidance needed, our Ancients! Securing accommodation has really been a great challenge for my husband and I. We are a family of four. His school is in Bradford.
Now my uncle is strongly suggesting we stay in Manchester and my husband who is the student takes the train to Bradford to attend classes. A little more than an hour journey. My uncle has in-laws in Manchester who are already working on getting accommodation for us in Manchester.

Our concerns are:
* The accommodation is a room in a shared flat. (rem, we are a family of four) they say it's doable.
* Manchester is more expensive than Bradford and living costs and childcare are likely to be more expensive too.
* Are there informal arrangements for childcare that will be much cheaper, as this is what my uncle is suggesting?
* If we get airbnb in Bradford for 20 days, are we likely to secure an apartment before the end of the 20 days stay?
* We would really have preferred to be in Bradford, but they are saying that we are going to experience more racism there especially as there are more Pakistanis and Indians there, so finding work will be a challenge.

What can we do please? We need all the guidance and advice we can get. Especially as we are relocating with our kids and want the best option possible.

@olaness..For me this is a no brainer..get a place in Bradford..it's miles ahead cheaper than Manchester, even Leeds. I know a number of people that commute from Bradford to Leeds cos its relative cheaper. If you were talking about job opportunities then I can say ok. But Bradford is an alright town.

@Omah7979 Your dependant can get on your tier 4 now, you still have a year on your brp. But they need to be in-country( in the uk) while you apply for PSW otherwise they can't get on. You can get further clarification from your school immigration unit.

Good day guys, I would be needing your candid advice.

A few months ago, a friend urged me to apply to university of Hull for an MSc program. Reason been that the tution was reduced to 9k pounds for international students. I was a bit skeptical due to many reviews online about the harsh conditions around retention and student part-time student jobs. However, I applied for the fun since there were no application fees and last week I got 2 conditional offers in supply chain management and energy engineering from the university.

On a personal note, I'm more inclined to the supply chain management due to its universality in almost any industry with a focus on supply chain analytics. Energy engineering on the other hand is quite robust buh has limitations due to its reservation to just energy. I'm a self taught data analyst of 2 years with working experience in the energy sector and currently in fintech and I have been able to save up N3,500,000 for this journey. Clearly from previous posts, this won't suffice. I can foot up to the expected 34% tuition on arrival and hope I'm able to spread the remaining 66% across the 4th and 7th months by engaging in jobs.

My big question is how REALISTIC can 2k pounds be made in 3 months as a student? What are the likely penalties of defaulting?

On a lighter note, I have seen some interesting Supply chain analyst roles in UK from LinkedIn and the required skills are what I currently use for analyses in my job here. If you have an idea of the job market apart from what online searches have, do share!!

Furthermore, the resumption date is September 20th and I would really be grateful if someone outlines the next steps for me to take as I'm yet to accept or defer the offer. I'm a bit skeptical if I would be able to complete the processes on time and would be grateful to know how feasible it is to conclude all processes and travel a week before the resumption date.

@ stan999 Your experience as a data analyst would come in very handy when you get to the UK. Trust me when I say there are loads and loads of data analyst jobs available here. Some organisations are even ready to take you on as a students and work with you tier-4 allowed hours(pray for grace as you apply). If you cant make September 2021, you could check if the courses have a January 2022 start, if they do, you might want to explore that option especially cos of the break between 1st and 2nd semester which allows you work fulltime for 3-4 months (depending on your course). Which would allows you save up some reserve (which would be beneficial especially for your case). You had be surprised how much you would be able to save up monthly If you are frugal and hardworking with little overhead in that holiday period.

Unfortunately, the global talent route is not open to everyone. You will need endorsement from an official institution to apply, and really need to be a researcher, some sort of academic or Chimamanda/Ben Enwonwu.

Nor is sponsorship for a Tier 2 visa easy to get. Still boils down to the usual IT, medical and other specialised and related fields in the majority of cases.

Ultimately, if you're single, try and get a distinction in your masters, either use your 2 years to save up and face Canada or try for a Ph.D scholarship. If you're married, then you and your spouse can switch after the first spouse's years PSV and get another PSV, then see if you can earn enough to play around with different courses (easier if you have 1 or no children), etc. All in all, its best to have a clear idea of the route to settlement in the UK, it is not an easy path.

Its true that its not open to everyone and you will need endorsement from an institution (for STEM based its Technation). Its open to STEM based professionals working in digital technology, Architects, Theatre, academics and the likes. There is a lot of misinformation regarding this global talent visa amongst Nigerians. If you are working in IT and have proven track records; youtube videos expatiating in a subject area, blog, personal website post talking about a IT related topics, guthub profile showing contribution to a subject area etc. All these can be used to prove You need to prove track record. Nigerians like you and I have used it to get it, they got reference letters from their heads of departments and professors from school (not chimamada adichie and ben Enwonwu and the likes) and got the global talent endorsement and visas. There needs to be more sensitisation regarding this globals talent route. Almost 2 decades ago I missed out on the high skilled manpower route because I felt they were looking super super high skilled talent, yet 2 of my course mates from school then applied and got it. I even had better results and work experience than them. So my people, lets not sleep on this. Anyway i would get on the route and hopefully my case can be used as test case. THe moment you are able to secure the Technation endorsement you are as good as gotten the global talent visa. Funny thing is that getting the endorsement is not as hard as its made to seem. God go help us all.

I guess it does take a certain kind of person. To be fair, our very first one was a non simultaneous swap. They were heading to Italy and we went their to place so our own home sat empty for the 10 days. I actually paid for 1 nights accommodation in a hotel cos I wasn't too sure we would find the place to our liking! Got there and were blown away! They left us their car at the airport. Had fresh baked bread and hot piping meat stew waiting, got 2 travel cots (my twins were about 10 months old then) and had lots of baby toys. The neighbour came round to welcome us and ended up enamoured with the kids (she was a grandma living alone) and spending quite a bit of time with us. We still keep in touch with the neighbour!
After that first one, we were hooked. 4 months later, we did a simultaneous swap to Seville and Gibraltar for 2 weeks - 1 week in each place and then spent the rest of the year traversing parts of the UK.

@Ticha..love your adventurous spirit(you and your partner. This is the kind off thing I would like to do when the time comes. The interesting part is that you did this with 2 ten months old, it takes one with a lot of grit to do this.

@Ab7890 I have used it and got the visa, the problem is that the printer at the branch where you printed is not good. Ask them for a reprint, tell them it's for visa application so needs to be clear, if it still isn't go to another branch. You pay for it, so should demand good service

if you are single.. this should be enough depending on your lifestyle if you are outside london. My rent is rent is 300 and other expenses 60 GBP (on most months).

One of the best backup plan is to transition to the Global Talent route where you will be given a 3 or 5 year visa depending on whether you are an expert or promising expert respectively.

With the visa, you can work for any employer, self employed or do both without needing any sponsorship.

All you need is a sponsorship from one of the government approved bodies.

So from this, all you need is to know what is required for the endorsements and start preparing it. If it means learning an additional skill, you do so while you are still studying for your degree.

Applied for my parents for visit visa in February got an appointment date in January 2023, Luckily one of my siblings was able to get a closer date in June this year after many sleepless nights. The goodnews is that they went for the interview a couple of days ago and they were issued the visa. They weren't asked much questions, my they were just asked what they do? and what they were going for? and how long they would be there for? My mum had been to the US before but my dad has never.

I just applied to a university in uk Teesside to be precise and waiting for their admission. I'm applying for msc project management with advanced practice. Though I'm a mechanical engineer and skilled in Swimming pool construction/maintenance as well as domestic plumbing. My plan is never to come back again to naija oo as I'm still single n in my early 30s. I was told that I should get married to a citizen so as to secure my resident either during or after my studies and also try to birth a child to indicate commitment to the marriage. Also I was advised to keep schooling from time to time pending when i obtain my resident status.

The thing is I'm skeptical it would be difficult for me to change visa status because I watched various you tube videos discouraging going to the uk..

I want to know how promising the step I'm taking is, I als want to know as a student will I be fully constrained to d 20hrs work thing, can I get a job in my pool line at least starting with maintenance first etc.

@jtech17..You can go to teeside, finish and get a good job, there are loads and load of project management opportunities in the UK. What I will advise though is get a PM certification to make you standout, prince 2 is preferable here, you can also do six sigma green belt amongst many others. Your previous experience is already shows project management experience, just be able to speak to it in an interview in the lingua, be able to answer questions like how would you manage stakeholders, what would you do if you experience scope creep as a PM. Youtube is a very good resource for interviews, optimize its use. Work on your resume detailing projects you have handled, there some sites that would review your CV for free, (I think Top CV and CV library, not sure though) and you should start getting interview invites. While a lot of firms would look at the school you attend, being able to demonstrate that you have the required skill set is given more priority in a lot. So don't worry about the school, (at least as a PM) worry more about having the skill and certifications and be able to speak to it.

Check if PM is in shortage list..if it is you should be on fire.
