@justagirl01..I can relate to your post cos it hits close home. Had a family member in similar situation, all the sign were there but she still went ahead. Everybody warned her but she didn't want to walk that path alone (and kept worrying about what people would think) so she stuck to her emotional abusive partner. Now with a kid in the picture she is seeking a way out, trust me it's a lot more difficult.
The signs are there, you know what to do. You just need to have the strength and courage to take the step that guarantees you happiness and protect your mental health. Truth is nobody here can advise you on what steps to take because it's the choices you make that curates the kind of life you will live at the end of the day. Just ask yourself some simple questions; Where do I see myself with him in the next three years? same question but this time without him in the next three years. while it might cause heartbreak and an emotional rollercoaster but eventually you can and you would move on. Whatever decision you make, chose one that guarantees your (individualistic) happiness. |

Joshua62: Thanks, I will be applying to Leeds Beckett University, can anyone help with this? . @joshua62 Admission to Leeds beckett is pretty straight forward. You should be able to do it yourself. At some point the school would introduce you to their Nigerian rep adenike, who would be able to clarify any grey area. But nothing dey there bro, just do it. |

Voiz234: Please I will like to get som clarification about Leeds Beckett as I am considering their conditional offer. I intend to study Data Science (Msc) with placement year. Kindly update me on the minimum deposit required for CAS and I will also like to know if the 14k tuition will be paid for each year of study or split into two for the 2years just like the case of Teesside University. Also, how is student life in Leeds especially with respect to part time Jobs for students. Leeds is a lovely town, the third largest city in the UK hence there abounds a lot of jobs. There are lots of student jobs around, just register at a local job agency when you get here. Warehouse jobs, care assistant jobs are some of the most popular for students. Thank God for lifting of lockdown retail jobs too would be back. You should be able to pay your rent/and upkeep with this. (Even with min wage and working 20 hours/week). I believe by the time you get unconditional admission you will get a discount of 3k, and even possibly up to 4k. You pay a 5k deposit and balance before end of your course. not sure how the placement year works, because there is no placement year for Jan start (maybe thats why we got the massive discount). |

DeraaI: Hi, thank you all for all the information you post. They’ve been really helpful to me.
Please, does anyone know how I can open a UK bank account even while being in Nigeria? I was considering a Dom account, but with the policies Nigeria comes up with daily, I’d rather not risk it. some people were able to open monzo account while still in Nigeria(its a wholly digital bank)..You might have to change your google play country to uk though. I believe you would also need a uk address, phone no (maybe they had those already, but you can always change those details later, not sure about phone number change though). You do not need resident permit to open the account. |

akanniade10: University of Salford is stressing the hell outta me... had a 30mins skype interview last week, I just submitted another 500 word essay today. Whereas I have admission for same course in Sheffield Hallam & Leeds Beckett.
Is it a crime to have the university of Salford as your first choice? @akanniade samething salford did to me.. Meanwhile I got stress free admission to Leeds Beckett over GBP 4000 less than salford on same course. About rounding up my first semester now and am grateful I went the beckett route(more friendly to my pocket. lol). My advise to prospective student would be to get as must industry relevant skill set as possible. And look at industry relevant internships while studying as this would provide you with experience (even if your school doesn't do placement). I am yet to get an internship but I believe I would get one soon. We moueeve |

RalphJean: Get to have your details ‘on the system’ 1. If you are from Nigeria, register to vote in the UK
2. Ditch that Lebara or Lycamobile phone line. Pick up a cheap, SIM Only contract with mobile phone provider (EE, O2, Three, Vodafone etc...)
3. Although having a credit builder Credit card is cool, if you don’t feel self-disciplined enough, do not take on a credit card yet.
Summary: get your details to be ‘in the system’ @Ralphjean please does giffgaff GBP10 sim a month qualify as SIM only contract? |

Drenimarcus: Chiggslover, how you doing bro? Please I have some questions. I recently just started schooling to get into IT.
I was looking at networking but few guys told me to go into data analytics. I remember you talking about it. Can you shed more insight on this?
Thank you.
Cc lionle216 @Drenimarcus Data analytics is a very very good to get into IT. It involves showing trends and making correlations. I think (for me) its abetter path to follow if it somethin you are interested in. You can take some certification to land junior data analytics roles e.g Microsoft certified data analytics DA-100 exam. (it has a learning path that teaches you all that expected in the exams. google also has a new data analytics certification out which is meant to be their alternative to a four year degree. You can also look it up too. |

Then clothes, forget most of your Nigerian attire - take just a few good ones - where are you going to be going or are you coming to UK to do owambe. Next, books and other personal effects that will just gather space in your house for many years to come. Mind you! You gave allocation for every single traveller including the children, do how come you are 70kg over? Efound3: Student on PLACEMENT/INTERNSHIP year can work full time paid job during their placement.
my University sponsored students who couldn't find a PLACEMENT/INTERNSHIP place due to COVID19 company Lockdown ....or have a business proposal (optional) and finance them. Depend on ur Uni.
and u know what, this is an advantage for guys who still want to stay I UK after graduation(.......the rest is later)
nothing concerning HMRC about that. they are even happy self because they take Tax from u. Ofcourse they know most foreign students are in their country to make money and change to better life.
About not able to pay 50% This COVID19 is a great advantage to International students. the online studies help them to have more time to work. some areas in UK have several jobs than others. depends on where in UK. Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds are cities that have many options. we change jobs anytime. take employer do shakara. believe it or not. Work Agencies chase u with phone to come work especially this COVID19 that many are Afraid to work in d cities.
I have seen guys that resumed last January and balance up b4 August and even raised money for family to join the b4 2020 ends. that's why I say its depend on how u can hussle.
To make it in life u need advice and guidance from experienced people. many took a bold step and came to UK years back...without or little fund..thank God today they are ok.
please note my advice is mainly for postgraduate Prospective students not undergraduate. Are you advising that students work above the prescribed 20 hours work a week? I believe this would be breaching the terms upon which your visa was granted and affect you later when you want to apply for PSW or tier 2 or even ILR. Anyway each to their own but I believe we should all strive to stay on the right side of the law. wetin I know self? na small pikin I be |

Pls what do you suggest... is 21st ok.... pls those in the Uk already what where you asked at the airport when you arrrived. I started classes online already got my visa in december, leaving next week, they would not ask why you stayed for 2 weeks, if they do, you can simply say you felt more confident coming now especially as the number of cases is reducing as oppose to earlier when it was on the rise(which is why I stayed back, asides from my school advising that we stay in our respective countries till mid-feb when the lock down was at first supposed to be possibly lifted). |
